It’s actually quite astounding that being given a present right before the manners-related segment, Ellen did not thank Hugh Laurie for her present. Not even once 🤔
Totally agree. And all the funny things he does is really cool... like twirling his cane and juggling etc...plus playing piano and guitar and singing. Those things just help make his character one of a kind in my opinion.
Am I the only chick who is like totally in love with this guy? I know he is older, and this video is older....but, so fucking what? I really don't care....He is just so fine ok....his eyes, his talent, his accent, his charisma, his___LOL, his everything! He is just brilliant in House MD, it is one of my favourite shows EVER, and therefore it must be good! Like Ellen mentioned, he emulates an American accent better than most Americans LOL, you can't even tell he is a Brit. I have all 8 seasons on DVD, although seasons 1, 2, 3, and 6 are my true favourites. It is humorous, yet intellectually stimulating, and doesn't insult your intelligence watching it! It touches on some very REAL, yet socially misunderstood subjects, like opiate addiction (which many people can relate to, I mean look around....half of the North American population has been, or is, slavishly addicted to opiate painkillers and drugs, including myself). The whole cast is amazing, yet that show would be nothing without him. Just like Queen would be without Freddie Mercury etc., I think that commercial was just priceless too!
I'm a straight guy and I agree. Hugh's the best! Apart from being a great actor and comedian, he is an outstanding musician, a real English gentleman with impeccable manners (a rare sight these days), an intellectual of some gravitas and a top athlete. I don't know anyone who is this good at so many different things at the same time.

I've never seen an actor looking the same and at the same time being completely different from his role, and I don't mean behavior, I mean the eyes. If I watch Hugh more than 2 minutes in an interview, you would have to remind me that he plays House, and remind me of that every 2-3 minutes. The guy looks the same and some actors can't act when there is an alien freakin costume on them lol. Rare artist we have here
Seriously. Not is it just a Polaroid ad, that AOL bit is additional layer of inception to make you feel the age. Looking forward to someone playing back this clip a decade from now, mentioning watching it on RUclips... will probably add yet another layer of quaint to it.
you should see some of the comments on Hugh Laurie's music based you tube clips . a lot of Americans can;t seem to get over the fact he is English .then again i am Irish and liked Hugh Laurie long before he became House .
Call me crazy, but Hugh Laurie doesn’t look nearly as good without his beard. Like the say, beards are the male version of a push up bra (or something like that)
I'm baffled by the comments. Where is it Ellen doesn't get his humour? She's laughing a lot...she doesn't crawl to people like some interviewers. I'm English by the way and love him from Blackadder.
It baffles me that people like you think that all British people speak perfect English, you fool. Have you ever visit the countryside where they speak like theirs mouth is full of bananas. So don't judge you moron.
Well, England has +1XX dialects, then there´s Scottish, Welsh, Irish, Canadian, Aussie, Kiwi, Jamaican, Pidgin a.s.o.. Let´s just say Murican is kind of "developed"?

But at the end of the day, her day job is to be an interviewer. And she sucks at it. Just has not got a clue how to conduct an interview with any level of integrity or class. Comes across as an American simpleton. Hugh Laurie must have been dying inside.
Hugh Laurie is too good for Ellen, LAUGH WOMAN THAT MAN IS PRACTICALLY SERVING YOU THE LAUGHS ON A SILVER PLATTER.
Hugh is such a polymath and towering talent that Ellen doesn't know how to deal with it.
He's so handsome and lovely here it's hard to bear
LivB I know right!

The total failure of Ellen to recognise or respond to any of his jokes is excrutiating.

She's slow, give her a break.
He's British. Americans don't get their humor.

Hugh was behaving so much like Mr Bean's personality in the Polaroid advert haha.

It's not Mr Bean. It is Bertie Wooster.

That bothered me too.
I think there was a cut in the segment where she probably thanked him
Why would the editors not want the public to see Ellen say thank you?
