It did away with the horrible rubbing strip that blighted the sides, and 8 believe it got many changes under the skin like double glazing and updated electrics, plus VVT, a mixed blessing as though efficient can get rattly wirh age. Biggest drawback of the 356 in the UK is the mega road tax that came out in time for 2006 models. Mind you if you are in Southern Ireland you will know all about ridiculous road tax!

I have a 2006 Jaguar XJ8 VDP in America, it doesn't have the supercharger but I find it adequate. It took some getting used to since my daily drive has been a Mazda MX-5/Miata, the Jaguar is huge! But it is a practical car, has a huge boot with a low lift over, the back seat being so roomy is great for loading large objects. My car has been fitted with coil-over shocks replacing the airbags, it might ride a bit firmer but is still very nice and a potential trouble area is eliminated.

I have a Jaguar XF and too be honest it’s an embarrassment compared to when Jaguar / Daimler built proper cars. I also have a Maserati Quattroporte, it’s redeeming feature versus this model is that the privacy blinds in the rear are electric. Apart from that of course it isn’t a patch on this. Owned a 2004 XJR for 10 years. Best luxury road car on the planet. Unfortunately I live in Canada and my rear subframe rusted out so make sure you undercoat that steel subframe!

Great to hear of your experience with your XJR!
I’m actually getting the surface rust on the rear subframe treated next month in England 🙌
I agree with your sentiments too 😉👍

Funnily enough I had a 1997 735! Back around 2002 and loved it to bits! It was in a Champagne colour scheme and I think that’s what made it fresh looking for years. Enjoy your lovely car Guy 🙌

TIP ! If ever the navigation has problems , don't ask Jaguar to fix it . I had it repaired in Germany at 320 euro , whereas Jaguar would have charged me 3500 euro.
Used to have an S-type 2.7d sport , the navigation is likely to have problems because of the different temperatures in the trunk where it is situated.

Hardly ever see these for sale, but they’re not expensive when one does crop up.
