“Based on the limitations on the articulations of the particular costume” is a phrase that can only come out of the mouth of the great Jordan Schlansky.
Is it weird that I can understand what he met by that in the context? It's extremely overcomplicated language. This guy is very eloquent and can't shut it off.
@@foxman105 We can all understand it, that isn't really the issue. The issue most people have is something you pointed out, that it's overcomplicated. To some people this would come off as being a bit pretentious, which when ramped up to 100 is where you get the Jordan we see in remotes.
@@duishungry I do what Schlansky does occasionally and I can tell you it's completely not intentional at least on my part. Especially when I'm thinking of several things at once. If you ever hear somebody do that don't take it as an offence man. If I'm not adjusting my language selection to your perceived eloquence level I take you as an equally skilled communicator.
And in the comedy sketches he was supposed to do it as much as possible to the point o parody.

Yep. He explained on a Reddit forum that he tended to play the stoic character we see in the skits off screen as a form of banter between him and Conan, and eventually they asked him to transfer that character onto TV.
I was disturbed by how undisturbed I was.
He prepared the manatee’s body in various ways.

I switched from what I was watching when I saw it was Jordan Schlanksy.... I've missed you my King of various tasks
To be fair, that's such a weird, specific thing to be doing as part of your job I wouldn't know how else to describe what I did other than "various tasks" either
They have alluded to some other jobs he had on the show, like helping TBS decide what shows to rerun during hiatus and assisting with promos. He apparently also had some responsibility for staff contacts since they said he was the only person who knew how to reach Joel Godard to interview for this podcast.
Besides there not being a simple answer, I’m sure Jordan knew as well as anyone that the purpose of doing remotes is to be funny, not to elicit factual information. Infuriating evasiveness is always funnier than a straight answer.
I think he also played a big role in getting permissions for Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to do his remotes in various places.
@@mose1095 That sounds plausible. Generally, the job of an Associate Producer on any show is to do whatever the more senior producers don't want to do themselves.
Team Coco still entertains me more than any other late night programming.

And according to Smigel, Jordan is also responsible for making Triumph happen.
I think Jordan responsibility is to make sure any sketch/ideas is clear of any legal/copyright issue before they are produced. With Triumph i believe he went back and forth to NBC and legal department to make sure it happens
I LOVED the Horny Manatee sketch. I remember making and submitting artwork. I just found it on my PC actually, it's dated December 13, 2006. This genuinely makes me so happy.

Conan’s show is so great that not one, or two, or three, but huge numbers of his staff are amazing and fascinating in their own right. I cant think of any other show where I am so thrilled to hear the stories of the people “behind the scenes”

Wow! I can't believe I forgot about Horny Manatee! Just seeing the words brought it all back- a quick easy joke that snowballed into a Week Long Odessey of more and more strangeness- Everyone Loves Anything Jordan, but one of my all-time favorites was Conan's Dinner with Jordan- the entire thing is Gold, but right near the beginning, Conan is a bit tipsy on wine, Jordan starts being well, Jordan, and Conan slips into total honesty and says "You have got to shut the f%#k up" - I taped it when it first came out, watched it all the time and still have it on VHS- it's now on RUclips by Team Coco, and I bookmarked that too, but I still treasure all the times watching it on tape that gave me joy
