That's because OP is groovin'! Just look at his face to see the high-spirit JOY. It reminds me of when Michael Jordan played basketball and he would enjoy making phenomenal moves so much that he would stick out his tongue. MJ was a JAZZ basketball player. He explains himself at this RUclips video: Michael Jordan - The Arsenio Hall Show- 1990. Now this was a li'l Pennies from Heaven! Shalom.
This is a truly amazing performance by the true leaders of creative jazz. I have this on a CD entitled "The Pablo All-Stars Jam" and was recorded at Montreaux on July 14,1977. Thank you for the posting of this as it is most enjoyable to see a performance that I have listened to a numerous number of times. It is so apparent that all of them were having fun as they took turns at displaying their unique solos.
Oscar is a dog! And check him out enjoying the hell out of another absolute canine, Clark Terry, playing at 2:37. And I must give some mad kudos to NHOP, Joe, and Milt.
It's because they all modulate to a different key (a fourth up I believe). Clark T. (and everyone) does it too if you listen carefully. The play the same changes of this song in two keys. They weave the change in so smoothly though.
Yes, RIP NHOP. He was a wonderful bassist of whom Oscar Peterson thought highly enough to invite to play in his trio. What sublime validation! Here is a another fabulous bass player you might enjoy at this RUclips video: How High The Moon - live in australia - louis armstrong. This phenomenal bassist: Arvell Shaw. Shalom.
