Thank you for posting this awesome video. I had a heart attack back in late 2018- in the middle of my stent procedure no less, after dealing with angina for several days that I thought was heartburn at the time. Your video outlines literally everything I went through during my personal journey to a heart-healthy life… which included participating in cardiac rehab (including exercise, risk reduction and nutrition classes) and fully-embracing heart-healthy dietary and exercise changes. I’m proof positive that it can work… cardiac patients just have to commit to the changes and stick to them. The end result is so worth it. 👍❤️

Good afternoon, am a final year architecture student and i want to do a cardiac rehabilitation Centre. i need your advise.
    Proposed topic:
An exploration into the viability of cardiac rehabilitation Centre in Uganda.
    Problem statement:
“Dealing with a serious heart condition can be highly stressful not only to the patient but also his/her entire family and the care-taker as well” (Uphill Cardiovascular Centre, Kenya).
Currently, Institution and home-based models of Cardiac rehabilitation is fragmented [restoration process is conducted in three phase and in different places (Hospital and home)] and under-used [some patients do not complete/ignore the home-based phase]. This may entail the establishment of a joint facility that provides patients who have had a coronary bypass surgery, heart attacks or heart failure with a restorative environment as well as opportunities for social interaction. “Rehabilitation is a core component of health care and is also often needed to achieve and maintain the best outcomes from other health interventions, such as surgery”. Despite the known benefits of cardiac rehabilitation, its uptake in Uganda is slow.
In Uganda, many cardiac patients don’t seem to understand the need of cardiac rehabilitation facility for both the patient and the community. They’re always perplexed about the cause of recurrent heart attacks, cardiovascular problems, and sudden cardiac death among heart attack survivors. Some people deep in villages tend to link it to witchcraft. As a result, the research intends to assess the viability of Cardiac rehabilitation facilities for patients with heart failure in Uganda by testing adherence to institution and home-based models of Cardiac rehabilitation.
    Main objectives:
The main objective of this research is to investigate the suitability of the existing institution based cardiac rehabilitation and home-based cardiac rehabilitation spaces for cardiovascular patients and the viability of Cardiac rehabilitation Centre as more than just phased programs conducted in different locations (Home and hospital).
    General objectives:
    • To investigate the appropriateness of currently used facilities and how they foster the reformation of cardiac patients.
    • To investigate the design parameters of the ideal cardiac rehabilitation Centre.
    • To suggest recommendations for spatial design strategies and functionalities that could be used to help shape the makeup of cardiac rehabilitation Centre.
    Research Questions:
    1. To what extent are the of currently used facilities appropriate and how do they foster reformation of cardiac patients?
    2. What are the design parameters of the ideal cardiac rehabilitation Centre?
    3. What spatial design strategies and functionalities that could be applied to help shape the makeup of cardiac rehabilitation Centre?
