    About the game:
Shadow of the Colossus is a 2005 action-adventure game developed by Japan Studio and Team Ico, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 2. It takes place in a fantasy setting and follows Wander, a young man who enters an isolated and abandoned region of the realm seeking the power to revive a girl named Mono. The player assumes the role of Wander as he embarks on a mission that might entail Mono's resurrection: to locate and destroy the colossi, sixteen massive beings spread across the forbidden land, which the protagonist traverses by horseback and on foot.

Dormin is definitely not a good guy. If it wasn't for the sage who entrapped Dormin again while fleeing, the Dormin would have definitely killed and destroy everything and everyone involved its capture. The plan was to be resurrected by using Wanderer, but in the end, Dormin was stopped by the sage who was 100% sure Dormin was going to get destroyed when he did what he did. He just wasnt sure if there was a way for the Wanderer to survive the spell.

Also fun fact with this game, I was 13 when it came out and I got it on release, as I was starting it my mum came in and talked to me about something irrelevant, and I completely missed the tutorial about shining your sword to reveal the direction you needed to go, so I spent the entire damn game riding around a blank map searching for the colossi..
I had a little hand drawn map with things like "sand temple, maybe later?" Written on it, because id found the arena for the 10th Colossus before even finding the 2nd.. it turned the playthrough into about an 150 hour experience and I actually really enjoyed it 😂😂

It originally came out on the PS2, but got an HD remake for the PS3. Also, if you are wanting to better u derstand the ending of the game, then I recommend a video by The Sunn Brothers that is simply called "Shadow of The Colossus Story & Lore Explained. @@brendan5926 phew.. really ghost of tsushima? it's literally an achievement hunt and has all the 0815 Ubisoft common tropes for map completion and no interesting mechanics or at least doesn't try to teach you to use the given mechanics in different ways, like Shadow of the Colossus did (Also I know it's not made by Ubisoft, they still use the Ubisoft formula).
I know it's a beautiful game, the graphics really help the game and if you only focus on the Story it's not so much of a hassle and has okay pacing, but the moment you decide to dabble into Sidequest stuff it literally becomes a chore, because you end up doing the same stuff 200 times.
Ghost of Tsushima felt like a hassle even before finishing Act 1, due to too many symbols on the map. I first wanted to complete every little sidequest stuff you could do on the first Part of the Island, before going to enter Act2 and about halfway through I had enough and just rushed towards act2, saw many more symbols upon entering Act 2 and decided to rush the whole story without doing any sidequest sht ever again, because it's just too much.
Maybe you liked it, maybe he will like it as well, but it's 100% not gonna come close or give him the same type of feel Shadow of the Colossus did, based on what he liked about SotC
I'd much rather recommend him games like Nier Automata/Replicant, Hollow Knight would be insanely good or Journey (though that is probably a bit too short) simply put other games with strong Art direction. If you have any games in mind that are similar in Art direction to SotC and the games I mentioned pls send em over to me as well btw haha
Also just wanted to add at the end I don't think Ghost of Tsushima is a bad game at all. If you focus on Story it's actually a pretty great game, he just asked for games similar to SotC and I don't think it is similar at all.

I found your channel through this series and I gotta say I LOVED IT. The pace you got with editting, leaving only relevant, non-repetitive comments was perfect. You're a very entertaining youtuber. Hope you get this as a full-time job so we can se more of you. You deserve it. I'm a huge fan of this game and I gotta say I got a little jealous of your first experience. I was a little boy when I played this back in the ps2 and the older brother of a friend spoiled some colossi for me. Along with the whole ending. I wanna murder him nowadays hahaha

So happy to see you playing this an enjoying it as much as I always have!
    A few notes:
    1) When you transform into Dormin, you can attack the priest and his guards, and, though I don't think you can kill any, you have several attacks you can do.
2)After the priest tosses the sword into the water, when Dormin's form has worn away and it just leaves the boy being pulled toward the seal, you can control the boy and try to escape the pull, though it's not possible in the end.
    3) If you go up on the main bridge and run down it to get out of the area, you can get all the way to the gate in the outer wall, but wind blows you back away from it, so you can't leave the region.
    4) Lastly, if your stamina is high enough, you can actually climb the outside of the castle and reach the top. There are fruits you can eat up there, but they actually damage you, rather than grant health. It's a neat place to explore, though.
I've been playing this game since I had a PS2, and I've been a diehard fan. SotC is considered to be the spiritual successor to "Ico", another game by the same studio, which is similarly minimalist and puzzle based. The next game they put out was "The Last Guardian", which is definitely set in the same world, though they storylines don't seem to relate. It is an amazing game, as well! I hope it's one you decide to try soon.

Also, I hope you play through some of the old school Playstation games like the Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter and Uncharted series, if you haven't already. I think you might enjoy them.

Even though I knew everything that was going to happen I still choked up when you did. I knew Agro falling was going to hit like a truck and when she came back was going to be mind blowingly happy. When I first played it I was with my bro and we were working together to figure out the colossi and when Agro fell I had to bite my tongue to keep from tearing up because 'Men' you know ...lol... so it was kinda cool going through that again with you experiencing it for the first time. Definitely 10/10. An All Time Great.

Have you thought about doing The Outer Wilds bro? While there's no tough soulslike combat or anything like that, it dawned on me the other day when you talked about feeling your brain get bigger, I think you'd really enjoy piecing everything together and there's several moments in that game that will stay with me forever, I think you'd love it. One that has to be done completely blind and spoiler free tho!

  • @13Xerro

58:50 Wow I did not expect that to work. I’ve played this game a lot and I’ve never tried just leaping to its chest like that before, and then you go back to the hand! Not realising you could have just gone to the weak point on the head and spare yourself a lot of frustration and pain.
I love that you worked out that you were supposed to shoot the shoulder with the bow on the run back.
You should give Ico ago at some point, it is very relevant to Wanda becoming a horned baby. It’s old (2002) but it influenced so many games thanks to one simple but effective game mechanic, and then play The Last Guardian for the latest from these developers. Ico can be found on the PS store but has to be streamed through PSplus.
Oh Also in that end credit sequence you are still in control of Wanda even as a baby. If you press any of the buttons he squirms and cries.

    43:48 oof…
I loved your playthrough of this game, and i'm glad you enjoyed it as much as you did.
I also want to add in case you didn't notice: That the last colossus (Malus [el malo xd]) is all the way to the south center of the map, looking north. He also can't move around, right? That means that each time you killed a colossus and those beams that shoot to the skies appeared, Malus saw them. He knows you've been killing his brethren, and he knows that after you've killed them all, he is next. That's why as soon as the fight starts, he starts blasting at you immediatly: HE'S PISSED
Looking forward to whatever game's next! You're pretty much my "comfort channel" :D

Hey man, new subscriber here thanks to this game. I've been obsessed over it since PS2. I've played it so much back then i was able to get the parachute, harpoon, everything... even managed to enter the secret garden on the top of the castle with the poison fruits. There's definitely a lot of replayability there. Fun fact: in this remake version, there's a secret sword (sword of dormin) you can get, but it's pretty tough to get. You should check out the videos on youtube about the secrets. You're gonna love it even more.

It's one of my favorite games, although I never played the remastered version.
When my play 2 was still working I played it many times.
They must have already told you, but if you eat fruits your life increases and if you cut the tails of white-tailed iguanas your grip increases. The iguanas are almost always on the altars and the fruits on the trees (there is one on the tree halfway to the first colossus.)
If you liked this game you should try Ico. It is the first game that company made (Shadow is the second.)

I can explain the baby but it could count as spoilers so view as you will.
The baby is Wanda or Wander(the main guy) reincarnated almost, that's why it had the horns you gain at the end where Dormin(the spirit that speaks through the roof hole) takes over your body after you've gathered all 16 pieces of him. The horned child will be more significant in Ico/the last guardian so i'll leave you with that.
