BIG BRAIN!!! Some tips on certain things in this game that I learned about 6 years ago when I replayed it on the hardest difficulty. This is a very long comment , so props if you read and understood it all 👏 Moves: The grounded versions of the Cyclone of Chaos(L1+square) and Rising Helios(L1+triangle) are almost never worth using in any situation as they have little hitstun, low damage and leave you wide open. Aerial Cyclone of Chaos and Rising Helios are amazing attacks especially on bigger tankier enemies. Some moves that you should be utilizing are Hermes Stomp(R1 in the air) for ending air combos, Hermes Fury(R1-R1-R1) the second best bread and butter move next to Plume of Prometheus (square-square-triangle), Ascension(hold triangle) and Apollo's Ascension(L1+X) are the best ways to launch enemies in the air, Achilles' Flip(X while rolling) is my favorite move in GOW1. You haven't unlocked this move yet but when you unlock Might of Hercules(square-hold square) use it as your bread and butter instead of Plume of Prometheus. Magic: Poseidon's Rage is the second best magic attack since you get invincibility frames for the whole duration and it outputs plenty of damage. Medusa's Gaze is a niche magic attack since it uses a bit too much magic meter for the stoning to be worth the cost especially since you need to stand still defenseless for 1-7 seconds depending on the enemy, although it is quite effective against mass Harpies and Legionaires. Zeus' Fury is quite interesting since it isn't really worth it at all when it's not maxed out, BUT when it is max level using Might of Zeus(hold L2 + hold triangle) will one shot Minotaurs and Gorgons and two shot Cyclopses and Cerberus, so it is worth upgrading to max level @/?% %! ^@;×$ ???! Enemies: Legionaires, Archers, Harpies, and Sirens are pretty self explanatory Minotaurs(bull beasts) are the textbook example of keeping enemies airborne and not overcommiting to grounded combos, be aware when they start blocking because they will counter and slam the hammer making the tough to dodge shockwave, getting them in the air will destroy them especially since they are a huge target. Gorgons(snake women) are very agile and strike very quick, when you see them dodge get prepared to block and when they use the stone gaze be prepared to roll and DO NOT JUMP! Wraiths(bladed borrowers) are quite oppressive if you don't change your gameplan, you need to not commit to many grounded moves against them as they can burrow in the middle of your attacks and punish you, play defensive and distance yourself when they burrow and parry or dodge the burrow attack, try to keep them in the air when you attack and use grabs when your stuck on the ground, they can be grabbed at any point. Legionaire Captains(wield a sword and scythe) are extremely tough and versatile, best way to kill is getting them airborne as they have no real anti-air option. Cyclopses(one-eyed trolls) are very weak to aerial special attacks and Poseidon's Rage, you want to roll backwards against clubed Cyclops and roll to the right of the iron ball Cyclops. Cerberus(three-headed dog) are only realy difficult if you let the Cerberus Pups mutate otherwise keeping your distance and blocking their fireballs will do the trick &*@^!>÷$(!%/$^-#?*) ???! $×&!%#$(@]&^-#?*) ???! /&@;#$(#;@) ???!
I'ma be honest that's a pretty comprehensive list but it basically comes down to utilize your skills more and use them aerially rather than on the ground and use the NORMAL grabs more, which Mati barely does and annoys me that he ALWAYS goes for the CIRCLE grab which is not always worth it.... About that last point with the cerebrus pups, I was wondering HOW THE FK he plays on hard and NONE of the puppies ever grew to full power ? I beat this game on both normal and hard and they were growing in less than 10 seconds
Been loving the hell out of the series dude and super glad I get to be here to watch you experience it! Pandora's Temple really is insanely brutal and thematically on point. Believe me when I say there will be many more tests to your patience and sanity as you go further in. Some of the encounters and puzzles in here ended up costing me a controller or two back in the day lol.
Hell yea, it’s super fun Mati, and I hope you have a lot of fun. Also, I know that everyone already said it last video in the comments, but some enemies you can grab without circle prompt, like the wraiths. You can do it, Mati, God of War gets more fun as you go on. Edit: Mati, the Muse door is completely optional, but it IS important. It holds something helpful :)
Man I feel like I'm finally getting a better grasp of the combat and it's making this experience so much more fun with every episode. I'm so excited for the titles to come!
you can grab the nyad's with circle, grabbing all 3 will give you an increase to your magic bar(not a phoenix feather a full free upgrade, great video!!!!
Your combat skills in God of War have really leveled up! The way you handle those intense battles is impressive - keep it up, and you'll conquer every challenge the game throws at you
Like you said in the last video, I’d love to see you get into Devil may cry (once you finish this series.) it’s basically the og hack n slash, so admittedly the 1st two games are pretty dated but I’d love to see you play them, especially 3 and 5. Lastly, don’t listen to the people saying “don’t play two.” I’m not saying this cause it’s worth playing, I’m saying it cause I’d love to see you suffer through it.
Mati: always love the energy Mati. Keep up the positivity and always happy to see you upload. This game is considered the most frustrating out of all the god of wars but that feeling you get after you triumph over a challenging scenario is at the level of a souls like feeling. Oh also you have to grab the Nyads with circle.
actually you should do tornado toss enemy in the air , double jump and L1 + square , if move completed do L1+square again , till hit the ground , on big enemies you can hit 3-4 time combos of it
Honestly the hard mode in the later GOW games is a lot more manageable and fair just due to them being smoother and newer games. Specially in 2018 and Ragnarok playing on Hard I never felt like the game was unfair.
I don't think this saga is very difficult but since you are playing on Spartan and you are having a hard time, I can give you these recommendations: -Always try to grab the enemies from the beginning, if you can't do it then you have to weaken them. However, there are some enemies that you can grab from the beginning, you usually don't kill them but repeating the grab is a good strategy because you take a lot of life from them and sometimes the movement gives you s. - Many moves are not useful, I don't recommend spamming them as they can generally be interrupted very easily and the last thing you want to do is lose life. The idea is to find the best moves and only use those. I like to lift the enemies into the air (Square, square and triangle, hold triangle or L1 plus X) and only there perform the special movements. -This game is the hardest of the original trilogy imo, so if you complete this one, you can complete the next ones more easily. This is in regards to something you said in your previous videos regarding difficulty but if you are going to start playing games from the PS1 or PS2 era, I advise you to play on standard difficulty first. It must be because of the types of games you have played on the channel but it is well known that games before were more demanding than now. Playing Godhand or Devil may cry 1 or 3 on hard seems MUCH harder to me than playing any Souls.
When Your blade is Already level 5 (Max) Do The Square and Hold Square, Also if Your Poseidon Rage is Max The Range Of attack Was Really Far and Dont forget keep Spamming Circle
bru it is so funny too see you getty much better, through the gameplay we can accutally notice you coming from loving the "tornado" attack and gatting yourself killed to hating it
Honestly you are getting so much better at the combat i think its probably safe to do spartan dificulty in the next game, also Poseidon Wrath is the way! Level up that shit!
Dude Im watching your videos while playing this as they help me figure out what to do in certain areas where im stuck sometimes. U provide realistic gameplay and also give off good commentry. Ur awesome!
This is the most realistic playthrough I have watched so far and reminds me of when we all started playing it with all of the goofiness and trying to figure out how to solve the puzzles without dying in the proccess. It's wild but not unbeatable. This is why I wasn't supportie of starting out in spartan mode. You will end up dying a LOT. The temple is a bitch and a half but so satisfying at the same time. You are starting to really appreciate this game for the masterpiece that it is. It has that dark souls feel to it without it being dark souls. You know what I mean? One of my favorite games ever. You are abolutely right. It's way ahead of it's time. Glad to see you are enjoying it!
I'm so glad you're starting with the PS2 games. Most people tend to just start with the latest entries and not give the original greek era a chance even though the games have aged extremely well. Hope you enjoy the ride while it lasts!
It's been so much fun wathing you play through GoW so fardude!! keep it up and I am so happy you stuck to the harder difficulty! Also, as a massive fan of the original GoW games and as a completion-ist, I cannot remember my first time playing the game and what I found/missed. Seeing you miss some of the hidden chests and secrets is actually refreshing and makes me remember how awesome it was on a 2nd run in finding those. Kepp playing dude! you're kicking ass!!
Dope episode lmao you really starting to improve and your finding a lot of the secret chests which a lot of people miss. And you found the 2 muse keys DONT FORGET to put them in the door
Hey mati, been subscribed since you did bloodborne. You've been rocking all these games. Now God of war was my childhood. In the challenge of posidon when you thought the red chests were a trap unfortunately they are not. Treat every chest as obtainable even though some are hard and frustrating to get. Keep rocking it dude 😝🤘
The way you're leveling up is like practicing an art but refusing to buy the tools. Spend all night sharpening your blade to leave it home in the morning. Making a deposit in everything but walking around homeless, rideless and naked. Skipping those timed trap chests hurt to watch. I let them pass my first playthrough too.
I played all of these games when they came out and I loved all of them! I’m glad you’re going on the Kratos journey and playing in order! Part 3 is crazy awesome and then the ps( ones are NUTS! Can’t wait too see you play those! I started off on your channel off watching you play shadow of the colossus (which is an ALL TIME favorite of mine) I’m glad you appreciated it as I did🤟🏻!
Gynormous brain. The pain is real and I felt it with you, brother Mati. Funny thing is some parts seem so difficult at first, then you play it again without a problem. Go figure. Loved this episode, I was watching it on the TV, and it made me feel like watching sn action movie. Just AWESOME. Do you play live here on YT? I would absolutely watch every time. Keep up the good work, brother Mati.
Today i began to watch a lore Video for the whole Journey of Kratos... It is SEVEN hours Long! 😂 Oh one thing I wanted to ask. When you reach the end of GoW 3 and before you head on to Midgard, there is a book by Neil Gaiman (Shortstorys) that tells the Original Storys of the North Pantheon, would you maybe consider doing a story time Intermezzo and do Videos where you read the Storys (one short Story one Video)for us? Believe me, the Journey of Kratos is so much better when you know the original Story, so you can apreciate how masterfully they bend the Story and wove Kratos in there. Also I would really Love to Storytime Videos. Aaaand we could hear you thoughts on the Edda.
Gotta say man, you're doing a great job in this new season for the channel. Same great content and vibe just with a new flavor. And the same love for suffering 😂
You could have got those 3 red boxes in the rotating room, the spike traps are just on a timer, you need to be fast. Since you are playing on Spartan, you need all the red orbs you can get for levelling, so I'd recommend killing everything, and not run past enemies, especially big ones that give lots of orbs.
thanks for playing this game i played it on ps1 and bought ps2 for it and then bought ps3 and 4 JUST FOR it and i know how you feel bc it gives you hell to win it
Hei man! New watcher here. Gotta love the gods of youtube for recomending random stuff sometimes. I just gotta say i love your style so far. It is the first time i feel like i'm not watching some 10yo playing this game lol. Also, as an old fan of the GOW series, it warms my heart wathcing your reaction. I'm planning a long rest at your bonfire, hehe. Ah, also the difficutly, yeah, it kicks my butt too, after all this time. Gotta play it smart. There is one thing in particular that deals more damage the higher you go in difficulty. Kicking enemies into one another. Master that art and you should be safe. You need to prepare for the ending. Keep it up and have fun.
Big Brain. Although I will say, they were not trying to fool you with those chest, you could actually grab them but you had to do it quickly. Coincidentally you tried to open the chest too late and thought it was a trap when it was not.
Been waiting, perfect time MATI, just wanted to comment on the difficulty, you beat freaking Malenia without A mimic tear as your very first souls game !!! U can do anything bro ... That being said; now I'll watch the episode 😁
When using rage of the gods its better to go full berserker on it and just smash square and triangle, grabs in that form is normally a waste, u have ultra poise in that so your attacks can't be interrupted, just goes full attack, great to see you playing the og gow games man.
When my friend had chickenpox in primary school, I came to him every day and brought my notebooks and while he was copying them, I played God of War on his PS2. The best times ever.
No worries Mati, we felt the agony, at least the first time we played it back in the days! This game is RELENTLESS! But can never put it down for what it's worth - must push through to the end!
With these older games you should probably use multiple save slots if you get stuck. This is not an issue with the Hard difficulty, but on the hardest difficulty the end game might be practically impossible without certain upgrades, and I could have ended up stuck using only one save through the game. (I also like to keep a save slot for the best parts of the game for revisiting purposes.)
Cant wait for the next episode. By the way while climbing on walls or ropes you can dodge if you need distance from enemies. Also love it that you have the original version. The european verion(?) has Kratos sacrifice a mindless undead, which is okay, but after giving a very uncharacteristic smile/smirk, which isnt ok. I like the original lack of smile better because it gives some sort of historical realism, namely how Spartans were not raised to consider impractical kindness as a virtue, but neither edgy cruelty a virtue. Just like discarding cripples and helots, this sacrifice is only business. Though of course human sacrifice is disagreeable too to at least one Spartan King whom i forgot that Plutarch wrote about
This was the coolest area in the game so far, but also the toughest...
So tough not even my internet knew what to do with it. The lag only lasts a few minutes in the beginning but my brain lag will last a lifetime.

This game is something else man, i can't forget how mind blowing it is the first time playing it back in 2007 and still ahead of its time!.
Spartan difficulty is really kicking in lmao
Every episode just wants me to quit harder and harder but I will not surrender
Biiigg braaaiiinnn also, I know it’s late but congrats on 30k+ subs! Next stop 50k bro you deserve it
Appreciate that man
This is bringing back so many memories and I regret to inform you you ain't seen nothing yet! Keep maxing your Posiden!
BIG BRAIN!! xD
Proceeds to die 5 seconds later xDD
The way you're leveling up is like practicing an art but refusing to buy the tools. Spend all night sharpening your blade to leave it home in the morning.
Making a deposit in everything but walking around homeless, rideless and naked.
Skipping those timed trap chests hurt to watch.
I let them pass my first playthrough too.
After God of war series.. Please look into blasphemous 1and 2.....love ur videos man.... Keep it up😊😊
Will do chief! Thank you
Hell yeah 😎 🙌 🤪 👌 finally 🙌 believe me you will absolutely love those games.
This playthrough genuinely brings me so much joy. Thank you Mati. 🙏
Love to hear man! lots more on the way 🤟
I played all of these games when they came out and I loved all of them!
Big Brain! Followd up by death in trap spike 😂
44:27 bro had 10000 mood swings in a minute HAHAHAHAH love your content bro!!1
Bro almost went insane on this one 😂😂😂
Much love from 🇧🇷 brother.
keep going 👊
39:30 you count your chickens by saying stuff and then jinxing yourself alot :D :D :D
hilarious seeing you stumble around lol, great vid mati
This is my favorite game series of all time i completed every game about 5 or 6 times through the years
Hi Man good to see
I now your Chanel video is very wonderful about the game
Gotta say man, you're doing a great job in this new season for the channel. Same great content and vibe just with a new flavor. And the same love for suffering 😂
You could have got those 3 red boxes in the rotating room, the spike traps are just on a timer, you need to be fast. Since you are playing on Spartan, you need all the red orbs you can get for levelling, so I'd recommend killing everything, and not run past enemies, especially big ones that give lots of orbs.
Haha nice, hard difficulty gives those big brain moments in stressful times aaaaannnndd spikes.. 😅
1:09:57 "the dogs are chill" gets killed 2 seconds later and sent back. counting chickens lol :D :D :D
Yooo man 🔥🔥
I keep refreshing the site just to see this video, man! thx 💕
keep going pls ❤❤
I appreciate that bro! Alwaysss
I sooo can't wait for you find out what exactly happened back in the day you've just seen the tip of the iceberg seeing him beg for Ares help
Big brain!
Also I always forget you're scared of spiders... Heheh
thanks for playing this game i played it on ps1 and bought ps2 for it and then bought ps3 and 4 JUST FOR it and i know how you feel bc it gives you hell to win it
PEAK ASS SERIES❤ KEEP UP THE WORK AND TAKE THE BREAKS U DESERVE🙏 STAY HOT🔥🥵(daily reminder for superlimimal)
Will do my boy! Thank you
51:08 heavy metal baby!!!!! 😈🤟🏻🤟🏻
seeing you reacting to the bs damage is so much fun
Great video as always and BIG BRAIN my man. One advice, start using arial combos, will help a lot
Definately reccomend the blade of Artemis. It deals a track load of damage, especially when you upgrade it
Welcome to the gang Adelin! so happy to hear you've been enjoying the vids. You may stay at this bonfire for as long as you want
Big Brain. Although I will say, they were not trying to fool you with those chest, you could actually grab them but you had to do it quickly. Coincidentally you tried to open the chest too late and thought it was a trap when it was not.
I always found going from souls games back to god of war is tough. The no heal thing is wild.
Nearly two hour video YES ❤
Welcome to my feature film of pain 😅
Been waiting, perfect time MATI, just wanted to comment on the difficulty, you beat freaking Malenia without A mimic tear as your very first souls game !!! U can do anything bro ...
That being said; now I'll watch the episode 😁
getting more goated with the combat by the episode🗿
When using rage of the gods its better to go full berserker on it and just smash square and triangle, grabs in that form is normally a waste, u have ultra poise in that so your attacks can't be interrupted, just goes full attack, great to see you playing the og gow games man.
Frickin' Big Brain move dude !
When my friend had chickenpox in primary school, I came to him every day and brought my notebooks and while he was copying them, I played God of War on his PS2. The best times ever.
This was a crazy episode my god what a War !
This is the level i was thinking of when when you started the game. That's how iconic this is.
Dude you're insane. This is one of the best playthroughs I've seen of GOW. It's fun af
33k already lol hell yea. feels like you hit 30k yesterday
Unreal man I'm so thankful for you guys
1:21:31 I was like someday, yes!
Though of course human sacrifice is disagreeable too to at least one Spartan King whom i forgot that Plutarch wrote about
I’m so excited to see you learn the rest of the story haha
