    Great video! Could you do a follow-up video on how to make sure that you move the wrist correctly at impact?

    This video is perfect timing for me. I had a coaching session yesterday and it was all about my takeaway. I was keeping a straight line from shoulders through wrists to club head.... think full ulnar deviation. My club head was really shut too through this. Keeps a neutral wrist which in turn made the shaft 90 deg to my arms was a game changer. I have tried to flex my leading wrist in the past and struggled. Once changing my take away, wrist flexion became much easier. Again, so glad you posted this today. Thanks, mate!

    Best explanation on why I struggled to bow my wrist at the top. Need a wider left wrist angle. Thank you!

    Great video, Jonathan. However, there was no explanation of what the wrists do from takeaway to the top. You just said move it to the top. Well, if the wrist don't do anything in the takeaway, how do they get properly hinged at the top? Could you do a video explaining that? Thanks for your content.

    Thanks, lovely video. You have demonstrated getting the wrists set in the correct position is not as easy as it may at first seem. I don't think I will be getting the gadget, but I will try and emulate the correct position by trial and error. Some teaching pros encourage a earlier set of the wrists by rolling them into a more bowed position, but I prefer your method which is more natural and does not get the club so closed at the top.

    This is really good stuff, thanks for posting. Eye opening especially the first takeaway part / how extended you should still be at P2, and how it's more about getting to relatively less extension as you go through the backswing rather than a binary getting to flex at the top.

    I like the idea of being a little wider at the top than 90 degrees. Going to work on that in the mirror.

    I'm interested in this device. But I find the subscription business model that they all seem to be chasing really puts me off. Locking data that is already available and recorded by the device behind a paywall is a practice I just won't support. It's the same for the launch monitors.

      go for it, i have one, it's just a one off fee. i just got the base version and its been helpful. for me its best used for irons and woods, not so much for short game

      There are 3 models to chooe from: Core, Plus and Pro. The Core provides full swing wrist angles (like the model Jonathan used), the Plus adds a putting mode and the Pro features all of the bells and whistles a coach would use. There are no subscriptions required and no paywall to to access your data. You can upgrade the software of the Core model to the Plus and Pro for a fee.

      @@Graemedargo thanks, it seems to me the basic just doesnt have enough, plus upgrading to any level costs more than if you bought it at the higher level from the start. Looking to hear fro. anyone with personal experience using the basic. I believe JKM is using the pro model.

    Hi Jonathan. Great videos as always. I also changed my backswing to having the right arm straight longer and having the face more closed and it has helped a ton with my iron play. However, I struggle a lot with Driver, I can’t use that backswing on the driver, my club head would touch the ground on the back swing, since im a bit tilted. And my driver and wood miss have been low hooks. (I miss more drivers than woods though). Please make a driver backswing video!

    Great vid 🎉 I guess the ‘feel’ for you is indeed a little bit more ‘bowed’ at the top. Maybe another video to show relationship of the grip with the wrist cup/bow 😂

    Very helpful video and on a topic that isnt covered much.
    That bit about having some flexion of the L wrist at the top resulting in the club feeling further away is good to hear since I've pondered about that before. I somehow feel having less angle would cause the clubhead to early release - what am I missing? Plus we do see the pros and teaching that one needs 90 deg.
    Would really ❤ more content featuring hack motion. Btw how useful is the basic version of hackmotion vs the full features?

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  8 месяцев назад +1

      you need to hold onto the flex longer in the downswing most likely but would need to see your swing to be certain of what to recommend you.

    great video, as usual. Only a question about the grip: I knew a weak grip matches to a flexed left wrist on the top while a strong grip matches to a cupped left wrist on the top. Is it wrong?

      Yes I can. These tools are quite good though! I wouldnt showcase them if I didnt believe in them. When it comes to wrist movement, tools are quite important because it is not easy to feel things correctly

      I have a HackMotion device. The CORE or basic software shows wrist flexion and extension as in this video and it also gives you a time history graph of your wrist flexion/extension during the entire swing. The PLUS software version does the same thing but adds flexion/extension recording and analysis for putting. The PRO software allows you to record and see time histories of wrist flexion/extension, ulnar/radial deviation, and supination/pronation.

    From the top of the swing to impact, is there more extension of the wrist as you are loading before impact? Tx!

      There is more flex not extension!

  • @craigg2058

    If one keeps getting a overly flexed lead wrist at the top, when should you look at weakning the left hand grip or making the right hand stronger? That match up always confused me.

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  8 месяцев назад +1

      if it is overly flexed at the top and you struggle with pulling the ball or hooking the ball then you can either weaken the grip or feel more extension instead

  • @ultimatejay
    @ultimatejay 6 месяцев назад

    I heard that extension is ok if you have a strong grip and vise versa

    • @TheRealLanceCummings
      @TheRealLanceCummings 4 месяца назад

      Extension ... where ... is the key. At impact, you don't want it, strong grip or otherwise. The key thing to mention here, I think, is that the wrists, like the arms and everything else, must be loose in the swing. I think even Jonathan would tell you that these manipulations he is making to get "numbers" that agree with this device's recommendations, are subtle. If you use a lot of energy to manipulate wrist position, you're likely to lose a huge amount of distance. So you've got to train your wrists to move into these positions so that it's almost automatic. If you're putting focus or muscle effort into it beyond training, you probably won't like the results. Note, as someone else did, that Jonathan made great swings and impacts, even when his data was "out of line". The (I believe it was) first shot, where he went from +57 at the top to "over-flexed" at impact ... was IMPRESSIVE. :) That's would require a really big wrist change between the top and impact, which as everyone knows takes about a quarter of a second to happen.

    *hits perfect shots regardless of wrist flex/extension*

  • @AndreeMarkefors
    @AndreeMarkefors 8 месяцев назад

    Your issues in the beginning are more likely due to your right wrist cock, than your actual left wrist actions. The right hand only bends back during the swing and shouldn't cock with the left wrist (what you explain as "adding angles" at the end of the video). The reason the left wrist cocks, is due to the right elbow folding.
    Not cocking the right wrist will allow you to still do a full body rotation while staying "wide" with your arms. The left wrist will still cock, together with a bending right elbow, and that of course is a great source of speed.
    Also, a 'flat left wrist' has pretty limited cocking motion anyway-but it's still all you need. Cocking the RIGHT wrist will cup the left allowing for much more "angles", but this is an 'out of alignment' move that will need to be equally compensated on the way down.
    The Golfing Machine idealizes the uncompensated swing, simply because it's easier and less prone to day-to-day variations, while still allowing for full power.
    I guess I'm writing this more for interested RUclips comment readers than for you since you already know your stuff.
