This mission was tedious if you didn't catch the tootip about making the jet throttle forward; you're stuck with this flappy little jet that goes 5 MPH and controls like a helicopter.
I remember failing my first time for this very reason. I thought I glitched the game.

A much easier way to complete the mission is to fly the Hydra to the airstrip in Verdant Meadows, then, if the player has a Heat Seeking Rocket Launcher or a minigun, go back to where the spy ships are, bomb the spy ships and if needed, the jets as well. Then go back to the airstrip and climb back into the Hydra and drive it into the hangar. This can be useful for people who find flying a Hydra difficult.

Quantum or destroy three planes in ship but let one not be destroyed
Much easier way? Use the minigun to destroy the other Hydras.
Then there's only one in the air who follows you, and he quickly zips in front of you, giving you instant red circle.
Which means you shoot him down.
Fly to Verdant Meadows, park the Hydra on the runway.
Take the nearby Sanchez motorbike and drive down the dirt road and by the water, all four spy boats.
No bad guys, no resistance.
Take the minigun and shoot the ships.
When all four are destroyed, return to Verdant Meadows Airstrip and park the Hydra you landed there in the hangar.
Mission Complete.
Quantum cheat this bagowpg exit and enter the plane then cheat all cars go boom

Fun Fact: Destroying some of the other Hydras actually decreases the amount of enemy Hydras you need to shoot down! There's always gonna be one that goes after you though, but if you have some spare explosives, then just blow them up.

i tell you how I did it .
1. go with a minigun and a rocket launcher .
2. destroy the jets that are on the ground . they are the ones that go up to chase.
3. don't fly low to destroy the boats.

I haven't played that game in years. Now I typed "vertical bird" to check out one of my favourites missions. Only third video, this one, got the job done the classical way fighting those jets. In first two they were flying around the bridges hoping for jets to hit those bridges and save them the "trouble" ;]
The dogfight is exactly what makes this mission great

This mission is difficult. Flying a hydra on PC feels like driving an entire plane without knowledge. Blowing up the other hydras literally took me 20-25 minutes without dying.
Now, If you are still trying to do this mission, Do the easiest way, Get out of your hydra and make sure your hydra does not get destroyed. Stand in a desert place where the hydras can crash You don't need a minigun or a heat seeking rocket launcher cuz that's just hard to get. The hydras will just going to circle around you but don't attack you. Best place to stand is near the boat chilling on the bridge. Stand in the hills so they can crash You can use your assault rifle or any weapons to damage the boat.
After that, You should able to complete the mission.
Some people say "oh just get out of your hydra and use heat seeking rocket launcher" That isn't even that easy. It's difficult to find a heat seeking launcher. Now THIS is what I like to call: "The EASIEST method to complete vertical bird."
There's a heat seeking launcher in aldea malvada. It's pretty close nothing too hard.

Cj is angry at toreno for making him steal an armed aircraft from a military ship in return for 50,000 and his brothers release but is OK with the truth sending him into the world's most secret and secured military base and steal a top secret project for nothing.
Those who have trouble with hydras,destroy the 2 of the 4 hydras in the ship,1 of them always takes,,,,then only that 1 hydra will follow you
Prime "stealth is an option" moment
For me, this was the hardest mission in this game because flying using pc controls is a nightmare as you need to keep a balance between using the mouse to move the camera and the keyboard to maneuver the plane.
Indeed, i've just finish the Freefall mission after 5 times of failure. and now this one is coming.
There is a technique for this so that this is much easier, first if ur gonna have to destroy all the other jets because do remember that u only need one jet but theres a lot right which means that this are thr jets that the enmies are gonna use, so destroy all those jets and then if there is still an enemy that is following kill it first and then ur gonna need to land ur plane on the landing site (where the game wants u to land the jet) and just use the jetpack to fly to those boats and destroy them using ur gun rather than using the jet, and after that just land ur jet perfectly and ur done. Idk if anyone know this because i just tried experimenting. Hopefully everybody see this so u dont have to go through all of those raging.

okay, since i play this game on moble it makes it more difficult to control. the jets in the air are quite easy for me to shoot down but the ships were harder, here’s how i beated the mission:
• you hover over the lake of where you are at and press the brake until you are not really high but you are just a few inches from the bridge that overlaps the body of water; after you do that it’s pretty dang easy to maneuver around the boats and destroy them. after that you are basically done and you can get the the hangar at the runway easily:)
I thought the hardest part was figuring out how to park that goddamned jet in the hangar at the end. It wouldn’t come to a complete stop until I figured out that going in reverse worked. That was stressful.
This mission is hard but its fun
This is how I trained to fight with Hydra.
All I did was start the plane and went really fast towards my destination. When those 2 jets showed up, it took me 5 minutes to destroy both of them. Then I went towards those ships and landed my hydra on a plain mountain. I took off again but this time, I didn't do anything to make my plane go fast as hell. I just pressed the accelerate button and slowly ascended towards those ships and destroyed them!!! I thought this would be a really difficult mission but it was really easy!!!
Easy tricks to complete this
1. Stealth is optional, so you either being quiet or rush loudly
2. Destroy those 2 jet because those are the jet that gonna be used to "Vaporize" CJ
3. Do not fly the jet too quickly, there is not even a single jet anymore chasing you when you destroyed it so its gonna be easy
For beginner and want to become slience during on the Naval Base,
I recommend you to only use Sliencer Pistol and a Knife. Sneak in without being seen if you want to being slience.
For beginner , want to have rampage and have GTA SA Remastered (Xbox 360, PS3 & Mobile/Tablet),
Get a minigun, buy an armor.

I Like This Mission...
It was supposed to be easier to do stealth until a freaking mechanic saw you behind the box and triggerd the alarm.
You have more missiles than Starscream.
I had to hide on buildings to beat those jets but this guy is just built different.
GTA 5: I have to pay my money that I get from paying real money to get a jet and then have to pay again if i crash in it
GTA SA: I just stole this jet for free, and it will always be available, and free anytime
Well you can steal a jet and put it in Trevors hangar it will be there forever
The one thing I like about toreno is that u get the best missions.
Do this mission on the mobile version it is a serious pain!

Funny since the Hydra is based on the Harrier VTOL which was made in Britain
Theres another way to finish the mission without destroying the 3 planes, you need to make the planes explode them with something except the one tou gonna be with, and you only need to fight one plae on air, and thats all

this mission gave you the choice to be stealthy but you can play it the way you want, in contrast to recent Rockstar games where you must walk on a specific path to pass the mission. Also, you can destroy the 2 jets on the boat which proves my point.
How I did this mission:
1. I destroyed all the Hydras in the boat until 1 is left, which then I use later.
2. I parked the Hydra in the Verdant meadows.
3. Used jetpack and rocket launchered the boats.
4. I go back to the landing strip.
In all of Toreno’s difficult flying missions, this one is the easiest. All of you have to do is just be gentle
CJ claims that he never wants to go through this again, but these kinds of stuff seem like his everyday job tbh
You should keep an amount of 5240 round M4, 9745 round MP5, 180 bullet sniper, 340 round silenced pistol, 7700 round minigun and 77 molotov to keep up in the game.
This mission was my nightmare!!I just couldn't balance the Hydra correctly😑😑
