Hey Brax! First of all, thank you very much for the in-depth guide, it really helps me tons. I do have just one question tho. What would you recommend between the Hamayumi and the Prototype Crescent? I'm hoping to form a team consisting of Ganyu, Xiangling, Xingqiu (I don't have Bennett :/ ), and Diona. I'm currently leading towards the Hamayumi option but I'm still very confused~ A response would mean a lot.....

One of the best aspects of Ganyu is how much she trivializes daily commisions. Destroy a tower? 1 shot from the way point. Kill 8 enemies? Move a few feet towards them and 2 or 3 shot them. Destroy a baloon? You don't even have to move after activating it. Snipers on towers? Fuck them lol, what are they gonna do? Get one-shot killed? Makes dailies take 5 min max. So nice. I wouldn't have sticked to the game if I hadn't pulled her the first time around, just because of how tedious these freaking dailies are for a few primos.

I used to think she's boring to play especially on her release because I was only focusing on one character functions not the entire team comps, now as a veteran f2p player, knowing the rotations and energy management much better I think Ganyu is not really boring, learning how to double swirl on Kazuha on melt ganyu and learning 2 different rotations on Morgana for optimal freeze time or maximum damage output was really fun

People just think she isn't anymore because ayaka is easier to use Just like how Childe international is very strong but people only think of Raiden national because it's easier to use

I sacrificed banners of Albedo, Xiao, Hu Tao and Keqing and i still failed to get her on her first banner. This time i am prepared and got enough primogems for guarantee even if i lose 50/50. In the meantime i got Amos Bow, Venti (on the rerun), Ayaka and c1 Mona ready for Morgana team. Just missing that core team member: Ganyu. I'm super hyped to use her because i fail to 36 star abyss all the time and hopefully she can remedy this with her dps!
@@Amat3ur_h0ur You need to pull 2 five stars to be sure to get the one you want. Every 75 - 90 wishes you get a 5 *. So worst case, you'll need between 150 to 180 fates.

Hamayumi is actually better in freeze teams too than the other f2p bows as the enemies that don't have weak spots (prototype) or no other minions to kill (blackcliff) as you get a baseline 12% even when u use your Ult. Good luck on rolls btw!
I was never super interested in ganyu, but I got an R2 Amos from the standard banner so I felt obligated to pull for her and she's a lot more fun than I expected tbh
I'm really sorry for putting an off topic reply here, but can someone please help me? sometimes whenever I use ganyus charged shots, the extra aoe damage just doesn't appear. I've tried adjusting my internet and settings but it just doesn't make a difference, I don't know If this is just straight up lag or my device itself.
Lol did the same for long dong Zhong got him as soon as the banner dropped and insta 90 lol did this so I'll have enough time to get Ganyu, The amos bow was the first five star weapon I got it's been collecting dust and secretly calling out to ganyu and now is my chance. lol

Ganyu has been on my team since I got her a year ago and has made the game so much easier and quicker for me. I can hop in quick and use my resin and do dailies in minutes which is great for me since I tend to get busy.
I got Ganyu on her first banner. She's one of the characters I use the most. I used to have Blizzard strayer on her and swapped between a few different bows like blackcliff and prototype. I eventually switched her to wanderer's troupe and the rng gods blessed me with skyward harp. She has always been one of my strongest characters.

I like how Qiqi was used to fill in for all the characters Brax talked about that he didn't have considering we all lose our 50/50's to our forever forgetful, coconut milk-loving, gotta stay cold or she'll deteriorate zombie girl.
Since rift hounds were introduced I cant 9* floor 12 with my Melt-Ganyu (C0 R2 Prototype) anymore; I can R5 the bow but I feel like its getting more difficult to use the passive and I am still waiting for Amos' so I don't wanna waste all those billets. But then I had two Elegy leftover from Homa banner so I just gave one to wanderer Ganyu and decided to try Melt-Tao in last abyss. To my surprise this comp performed better than Geo-Tao comp with Albedo and Zhongli, all the freeze going on kept those doggos in-check. I was concern about Pyro Herald but Melt-Tao pulled through; again in current floor 12 I got clean 9* run with Zhongli C1 R5Fav, Eula C2 R2wgs, Raiden C2 R1, Bennett C5 R1 on first half and Diona C6, Hu Tao C1 R1, XQ C6, Ganyu C0 R1Elegy on second half. So yeah, if I fail to get Amos' on her re-run Ganyu will have to be content supporting Hu Tao for foreseeable future. Btw I use Ayaka (C0, R5 Amenoma) Morgana comp; I prefer Melt-Ganyu over Freeze-Ganyu.
The way I view it is once I can beat everything in the game with ease, I can build literally anyone I want for fun since I can always switch back to the op team
I’m just so happy that I got her. The odds were against me but I got Xiao, Shenhe (best waifu) and now Ganyu (top waifu) And don’t worry, I already went for Zhongli on his first rerun Edit: Mission complete
67 pity, Ganyu will come home Edit: I am VERY late to edit this. But she came home at 78 pity. She's rocking R3 Hamayumi right now, and 4 piece Wanderer. :)
Support Ganyu becomes viable if other Cryo carriers becomes more prominent. That 20% from Burst is insane. I believe right now Ayaka has higher potential, so having Ganyu as a battery and Burst support becomes very interesting.

I’ve been using prototype on her this entire time and it’s honestly kinda stressful to use in abyss12 when your eye is always on the clock. I’m pulling for Amos for that reason
Yeah man I'd rather use blackcliff bow than proto crescent because keeping that passive up sounds like a pain, and it can even be impossible against certain enemies and bosses. Luckly I dodged vortex vanquisher and got amos bow first try on the weapon banner.
One thing that isn't mentioned but I find a really awesome detail about her kit is her E. Ganyu's HP pool is not exactly high, which is why people tend to pair her with Zhongli or Diona, but if you're fighting anything other than bosses, you don't have to worry about getting hit because her E draws aggro away from her and allows you to take your time to aim and fire with impunity. Only drawback is how it doesn't work on bosses (I've been struggling a lot against Raiden)

As a newbie Ganyu haver she helped me a lot doing domain farming (majority in Emblem domain), freezing that annoying electro lawachurl and charge shotting it to death, and she also reduced my domain runs average time from 2 mins to just 1 min (weak AR45 so excuse the copium lol) so happy to have skipped Cyno just to have her best decision I've made :D
I'm one of those who play Ganyu as pure burst-only support, which I would say she's 10x more fun to play on. I got lucky on getting Polar Star, having to build up her stacks for snapshot just adds the fun on playing her as a support while being the BiS for burst damage(On top of that, it's probably the most Aesthetic weapon for her).
i love the fact that ganyu can also be used as a support. she's gonna be my main dps on my second team, but in the future, when i get another main dps, i can see myself using her as a support for hu tao!

Congrats on the video, it's very well done! I just wonder, since I'm an Ayaka main (and a f2p without Mona or Kokomi, unfortunately) and I want to pull for Ganyu to play them together, which one of the two should I use as a main dps and which one as support? I have to rely on Xingqiu or Barbara for the hydro application, so a melee character like Ayaka seems to be better, but the dmg ceiling on Ganyu's charged attacks seems much better than Ayaka's autoattacks. Any suggestion?
but same can't be said for Ayaka though I personally wouldn't use Ganyu and Ayaka in the same team - Ayaka needs a good cryo battery, and Ganyu isn't really that good at it
@@LesbianImpact actually I ended up getting Mona and Venti (still no Kokomi though, unfortunately) and Ganyu is a pure burst dps in the comp, while Ayaka, despite mainly using her burst, is the one that sometimes uses normal and charged attacks. And I have no energy issues whatsoever with just Venti, Amenoma r5 and 110% ER on both Ayaka and Ganyu
I already have ganyu, but I hate melt(Xiangling, Bennett, zhongli), the rotations are long and clunky because ganyu doesn't generate particles for Xiangling or bennet, also hitting enemies is sometimes too hard and only having an r2 prototype bow since the beginning of the game doesn't help, and those seconds wasted not hitting enemies and refilling bursts murder her performance, I don't know how people can play it tbh
Yeah lol, why pull for Ganyu now to play reverse melt if Raiden is probably rerunning in the next patch who can also use bennett and xiangling to make Raiden National which plays so smoothly and is arguably the nr 1 strongest team in the current meta
@@foucault2.075 raiden national requires well-built supports if u dont have c2 raiden. plus, raiden is electro, she doesnt have the capibility to utilize melt unlike ganyu. id say melt ganyu is still better even though the team cant generate particles for her, its fine. shes not a nuke character so, burst is meh + ganyu's morgana team is also good. u can unlock raiden's potential only w c2 or c0 with well-built supp and a 5* weap. just an opinion though.
@@aedashope Yeah imo morgana is the best damage outputting team there is IF venti works. But that is a big IF in content where damage matters such as abyss. I don't see room 12 being 20 treasure horders any time soon. But I don't know about the difference in investment you mentioned. For xiangling and xinqui as well as raiden you want emblem, which makes farming for it quite easy as you can hand down artifacts to the less prioritised supports once you get better artifacts of the same set for your higher prioritized ones. Also don't agree with the 5-star weapon thing. You can give Raiden The Catch and Xiangling Dragon's bane and the team will still perform very well. And c2 is definitely a great damage increase for Raiden, but I only see that as a pro. Because at c0 this team works insanely well and c2 is quite attainable for a low spender and is just absolutely insane edit: And about not being able to perform melt. You can vaporize every Xiangling Q hit because of the way her ICD works, which is huge
thats sucks, i just r5 my Hamayumi like last week, and im still using wanderer's set sicne my blizzard set is on my ayaka and my priorities of getting some artifacts of my chars are confusing now :'D...... EDIT not to mention that used 3pc saved of my bow prototype mats already, nothing left XD
Hamayumi is better than the other f2p bows when fighting bosses with no minions or no weakspots, which is a LOT more than you'd think now. Both melt and freeze teams, even when using your Ult since you get a base 12% boost where the other bows they can't be activated without killing or weak spot. I'd argue R5 Hamayumi is the best of the bunch in terms of versatility and usefullness.
I started playing Genshin just before her banner and since then I have been obsessed with trying to get her. A year and a half later and 3 failed 50/50s on her banner finally I can use this guide.
If you want to use hamayumi and shimenawa just run double cryo and do the other characters elemental skill into ganyu elemental skill, you get more particles than you lose and keep both buffs. I do this with Rosaria in my team
i've had Ganyu for a long time since her first release and i use Wanderer's and a R5 Prototype Crescent on her and usually use a melt comp but since then Shenhe has made her able to use Shimenawa and her burst at the same time making it so much more convenient and the 2 cryo resonance helps with her crit overall though i if you're not good at dodging then having a shield really is more convenient that max damage
anyone trying melt ganyu should absolutely try sucrose with either a sac fragments or thrilling tales book. it's freaking nuts, and $100k dmg charge shots aren't unheard of, even with F2P builds if you can do the rotation properly
Just pulled her a few hours ago. Only just got back into the game when I saw she was having a banner rerun. Looks like I’m going to be playing more now.
I am told that she's so good. Didn't expect her to be that broken even when I have yet to build her artifacts and just slap whatever to her slots. Edit: Oh, so that's how you use mona. In the last event where we get her trial, I didn't really get it.
I pulled Ganyu a bit ago and have R1 Amos bow. Also just pulled C2 for qiqi. I am from the start a razor player but ganyu is turning out to be pretty cool!
I already had Ganyu & Zhongli from Last Year Banner. I got lucky with Fate Points in Amos Bow, getting it under 140 pulls. Which is cheaper than Losing 50/50 and Going for Pity of Ganyu Banner for C1.
I had a huge prejudice against archers. But after getting Zhongli + C1 and then getting guaranteed by getting Mona, I decided to spend my fates on the Ganyu banner. She came and after putting her at level 90 I saw how broken and fun she is even with the blacksmith's f2p bow. I liked it so much that I paid for Amos Bow (I won Vortex Vanquisher in the same 10 shot) and then it became my favorite character.
It should be noted that if you want to run Shenhe with Ganyu in a freeze comp, then Shimenawas is her best in slot if your Ganyu is C6. I realize I am talking to the minority, but just wanted to make that known. This is because for Ganyu and Ayaka, their ults consume all of Shenhe's quills, so their respective charged attacks can't use them. Instead you would spend the quills on the skill ->charged attacks and finish with Ganyu's ult.
Lost to her first banner with Jean, I’ll definitely get her this time lol I have everything prepared for her to 90 just a couple more heroes wit. Good luck to everyone pulling her!

Theoretically shenhe is probably the best cryo buffer in the game. You would replace rosaria with her. She is better suited to buff any normal attacker with cryo tho.

Ganyu has increased my quality of life in killing hydro mimics while standing safely 50 feet away. Oh and those hawks are no trouble anymore too lmao.
Lets not forget about those annoying inazuma ghost. my friends raging about them while i am just sitting here destroying them like they are nothing.

I think Ganyu becomes Little more varied when she can do free charge shots after using Elemental Skill.
But tht is expensive

Ganyu has been on my team since I got her a year ago and has made the game so much easier and quicker for me. I can hop in quick and use my resin and do dailies in minutes which is great for me since I tend to get busy.
I got Ganyu on her first banner. She's one of the characters I use the most. I used to have Blizzard strayer on her and swapped between a few different bows like blackcliff and prototype. I eventually switched her to wanderer's troupe and the rng gods blessed me with skyward harp. She has always been one of my strongest characters.
Im having so much fun with her, missed her when she first came out cuz u started playing at the end of her banner. Loving her gameplay fr!

Since rift hounds were introduced I cant 9* floor 12 with my Melt-Ganyu (C0 R2 Prototype) anymore; I can R5 the bow but I feel like its getting more difficult to use the passive and I am still waiting for Amos' so I don't wanna waste all those billets. But then I had two Elegy leftover from Homa banner so I just gave one to wanderer Ganyu and decided to try Melt-Tao in last abyss. To my surprise this comp performed better than Geo-Tao comp with Albedo and Zhongli, all the freeze going on kept those doggos in-check. I was concern about Pyro Herald but Melt-Tao pulled through; again in current floor 12 I got clean 9* run with Zhongli C1 R5Fav, Eula C2 R2wgs, Raiden C2 R1, Bennett C5 R1 on first half and Diona C6, Hu Tao C1 R1, XQ C6, Ganyu C0 R1Elegy on second half. So yeah, if I fail to get Amos' on her re-run Ganyu will have to be content supporting Hu Tao for foreseeable future. Btw I use Ayaka (C0, R5 Amenoma) Morgana comp; I prefer Melt-Ganyu over Freeze-Ganyu.
As far as I know, Rifthounds don't have weak spots, that may find the passive of PCresent unusable.
I use elegy fischl with hu tao,XQ, zongli.... overload isn't problem on floor 12 and does very decent dmg like 11k and electro charged as well

Support Ganyu becomes viable if other Cryo carriers becomes more prominent. That 20% from Burst is insane.
I believe right now Ayaka has higher potential, so having Ganyu as a battery and Burst support becomes very interesting.

I’ve been using prototype on her this entire time and it’s honestly kinda stressful to use in abyss12 when your eye is always on the clock. I’m pulling for Amos for that reason

Yeah man I'd rather use blackcliff bow than proto crescent because keeping that passive up sounds like a pain, and it can even be impossible against certain enemies and bosses. Luckly I dodged vortex vanquisher and got amos bow first try on the weapon banner.
One thing that isn't mentioned but I find a really awesome detail about her kit is her E. Ganyu's HP pool is not exactly high, which is why people tend to pair her with Zhongli or Diona, but if you're fighting anything other than bosses, you don't have to worry about getting hit because her E draws aggro away from her and allows you to take your time to aim and fire with impunity. Only drawback is how it doesn't work on bosses (I've been struggling a lot against Raiden)

As a newbie Ganyu haver she helped me a lot doing domain farming (majority in Emblem domain), freezing that annoying electro lawachurl and charge shotting it to death, and she also reduced my domain runs average time from 2 mins to just 1 min (weak AR45 so excuse the copium lol) so happy to have skipped Cyno just to have her best decision I've made :D

I'm one of those who play Ganyu as pure burst-only support, which I would say she's 10x more fun to play on. I got lucky on getting Polar Star, having to build up her stacks for snapshot just adds the fun on playing her as a support while being the BiS for burst damage(On top of that, it's probably the most Aesthetic weapon for her).
i love the fact that ganyu can also be used as a support. she's gonna be my main dps on my second team, but in the future, when i get another main dps, i can see myself using her as a support for hu tao!

Gonna try for Amos if I can get Zhongli without losing 50/50. Standard banner's been pretty unkind to me as far as weapons go, so hoping to get lucky this time around.
If you have skyward harp, i would stick with it, instead of pulling Amos bow.

Fun fact (5:38) : Amos bow isn't Ganyu's signature weapon as it belonged to Decarabian's lover, but of course amos bow is Ganyu's BiS weapon for now.
Probably for a new future Mondstadt Bow Character if as a signature weapon. As of now, it's most technically effective on Ganyu as a BiS Weapon.
Amos is only BiS for melt Ganyu

Congrats on the video, it's very well done! I just wonder, since I'm an Ayaka main (and a f2p without Mona or Kokomi, unfortunately) and I want to pull for Ganyu to play them together, which one of the two should I use as a main dps and which one as support? I have to rely on Xingqiu or Barbara for the hydro application, so a melee character like Ayaka seems to be better, but the dmg ceiling on Ganyu's charged attacks seems much better than Ayaka's autoattacks. Any suggestion?
Ganyu can act as an off-field dps with her burst (which is what the Morgana comp is all about actually)
but same can't be said for Ayaka
though I personally wouldn't use Ganyu and Ayaka in the same team - Ayaka needs a good cryo battery, and Ganyu isn't really that good at it
Use them both as main dps.

@@LesbianImpact actually I ended up getting Mona and Venti (still no Kokomi though, unfortunately) and Ganyu is a pure burst dps in the comp, while Ayaka, despite mainly using her burst, is the one that sometimes uses normal and charged attacks. And I have no energy issues whatsoever with just Venti, Amenoma r5 and 110% ER on both Ayaka and Ganyu

I already have ganyu, but I hate melt(Xiangling, Bennett, zhongli), the rotations are long and clunky because ganyu doesn't generate particles for Xiangling or bennet, also hitting enemies is sometimes too hard and only having an r2 prototype bow since the beginning of the game doesn't help, and those seconds wasted not hitting enemies and refilling bursts murder her performance, I don't know how people can play it tbh
Yeah lol, why pull for Ganyu now to play reverse melt if Raiden is probably rerunning in the next patch who can also use bennett and xiangling to make Raiden National which plays so smoothly and is arguably the nr 1 strongest team in the current meta
@@foucault2.075 raiden national requires well-built supports if u dont have c2 raiden. plus, raiden is electro, she doesnt have the capibility to utilize melt unlike ganyu. id say melt ganyu is still better even though the team cant generate particles for her, its fine. shes not a nuke character so, burst is meh + ganyu's morgana team is also good. u can unlock raiden's potential only w c2 or c0 with well-built supp and a 5* weap. just an opinion though.
@@aedashope Yeah imo morgana is the best damage outputting team there is IF venti works. But that is a big IF in content where damage matters such as abyss. I don't see room 12 being 20 treasure horders any time soon. But I don't know about the difference in investment you mentioned. For xiangling and xinqui as well as raiden you want emblem, which makes farming for it quite easy as you can hand down artifacts to the less prioritised supports once you get better artifacts of the same set for your higher prioritized ones. Also don't agree with the 5-star weapon thing. You can give Raiden The Catch and Xiangling Dragon's bane and the team will still perform very well. And c2 is definitely a great damage increase for Raiden, but I only see that as a pro. Because at c0 this team works insanely well and c2 is quite attainable for a low spender and is just absolutely insane
edit: And about not being able to perform melt. You can vaporize every Xiangling Q hit because of the way her ICD works, which is huge
I use her in freeze or just general charge shots, bc I don’t have Mona. I wish there was a way to guarantee her

Hamayumi is better than the other f2p bows when fighting bosses with no minions or no weakspots, which is a LOT more than you'd think now. Both melt and freeze teams, even when using your Ult since you get a base 12% boost where the other bows they can't be activated without killing or weak spot. I'd argue R5 Hamayumi is the best of the bunch in terms of versatility and usefullness.

I started playing Genshin just before her banner and since then I have been obsessed with trying to get her. A year and a half later and 3 failed 50/50s on her banner finally I can use this guide.
If you want to use hamayumi and shimenawa just run double cryo and do the other characters elemental skill into ganyu elemental skill, you get more particles than you lose and keep both buffs. I do this with Rosaria in my team
i've had Ganyu for a long time since her first release and i use Wanderer's and a R5 Prototype Crescent on her and usually use a melt comp but since then Shenhe has made her able to use Shimenawa and her burst at the same time making it so much more convenient and the 2 cryo resonance helps with her crit overall though i if you're not good at dodging then having a shield really is more convenient that max damage
anyone trying melt ganyu should absolutely try sucrose with either a sac fragments or thrilling tales book. it's freaking nuts, and $100k dmg charge shots aren't unheard of, even with F2P builds if you can do the rotation properly

I pulled Ganyu a bit ago and have R1 Amos bow. Also just pulled C2 for qiqi. I am from the start a razor player but ganyu is turning out to be pretty cool!

I already had Ganyu & Zhongli from Last Year Banner.
I got lucky with Fate Points in Amos Bow, getting it under 140 pulls. Which is cheaper than Losing 50/50 and Going for Pity of Ganyu Banner for C1.

I had a huge prejudice against archers. But after getting Zhongli + C1 and then getting guaranteed by getting Mona, I decided to spend my fates on the Ganyu banner. She came and after putting her at level 90 I saw how broken and fun she is even with the blacksmith's f2p bow. I liked it so much that I paid for Amos Bow (I won Vortex Vanquisher in the same 10 shot) and then it became my favorite character.
It should be noted that if you want to run Shenhe with Ganyu in a freeze comp, then Shimenawas is her best in slot if your Ganyu is C6. I realize I am talking to the minority, but just wanted to make that known. This is because for Ganyu and Ayaka, their ults consume all of Shenhe's quills, so their respective charged attacks can't use them. Instead you would spend the quills on the skill ->charged attacks and finish with Ganyu's ult.

Theoretically shenhe is probably the best cryo buffer in the game. You would replace rosaria with her. She is better suited to buff any normal attacker with cryo tho.
