NOTE: Hamayumi bow is well-recommended for a Melt Ganyu, since by not casting her burst, you ensure that it's Ganyu's charged shots that are reverse melting (Thanks Savaage for the input). So at least if you play her that way, the buff is always on. I still stand by my recommendation for Prototype Crescent if you can aim for weak points since it can benefit most Ganyu playstyles. had her since her first run, shes carried me through the game, i ended up with 4 level 90 bows with one being a 3 star, 1 a 4 star and 2 5 stars lmao i use polar star melt and she works well with a built thoma, with enough ER and HP, take sucrose venti or anemo traveller as the last character (preferable sucrose with VV and ttds) or mona with ttds and you got a decent consistent melt comp that has a pyro shielder and 2 buffing units (zhongli can buff too, with his res shred)
Don’t be pressured to pull Amos for her especially if you plan to use her in freeze teams. The Skyward Harp/Polar Star/ High refined Crescent can keep up with Amos in permafreeze since alot of her damage in freeze teams also comes from her burst

I got her the very first day her banner dropped. All I can say is, her charge attacks are no doubt strong and powerful especially when you do reverse melt, she's also a good support for certain characters. She's very F2P friendly knowing the fact that there are a lot of bows that you can craft using your billets. The downside though, her playstyle is not everyone's cup of tea because it could take you a few seconds to land that charge shot, her shots are slower than others. If you pull for her design, that's no question, she's hot and her design is great.
Idk how good it would be but I might reconsider pulling her for Zhongli since I already have a Diona and Mona . I can always ditch Fischl and throw Skyward Harp on Ganyu instead
I find these really useful even as a new player who won’t get the character bc it helps to understand how they play when you’re coop with players using them. Like, do I stand in that fire or do I avoid it, type stuff. Thanks Sevy
If you're a new player and haven't done the story quests, you can get +10k primos or more if you play the story and explore. I got 14.6k primos in a month of playing and then pulled for my favorite character. If you just started, you have plenty of places where you can get enough primos before the banner comes. Good luck!
You kind of missed the point of Hamayumi, Ganyu loses dps in melt comps if she casts her burst because the burst will eat almost all of the reverse melt procs that you want her charged shots melting. So with melt Ganyu you always get the 100% increased effect with Hamayumi, and it provides a bit more dps than prototype crescent in melt comps because of this and doesn't require the player to hit headshots like the prototype crescent either.
Crescent has more dmg overall and is more versatile...especially in my situation. Shenhe is a much bigger buff than that bow plus I aim well so the dmg is consistent whether its freeze or melt teams for my ganyu. That bow also limits her to just charge shot only so its kinda meh. I love using her entire kit

Had Ganyu since her first run and today is even our 1 year anniversary together since shes my first 5 star so i will pull her again because she deserves it
Just wanted to add that i've used the battle pass bow on her for almost a year now and it's pretty good even if it's not the best option, never had any issues beating stuff with her
First of all great video!! Some thoughts as a dedicated Ganyu main: Weapon: I use a blackcliff warbow because then the artefacts min/max becomes a lot more forgiving. But I’m hoping to get an amos. Artefacts: I tested her in different sets and combinations but the best/most fun ones are wanderers and blizzard for sure. I have a terrible luck with blizzard, so my freeze comp gets a lot less dmg the the melt comp. Comps: Freeze- Ganyu, Mona, Sucrose and Diona: I do not have venti, but sucrose works fine and give a nice buff. Don’t under build your mona, although not the primary dps, building her properly can give a huge bmg boost, same goes to sucrose/venti, diona is more forgiving. I find that jean does not work so well with this comp. Melt: Ganyu, Xiangling, bennet, diona/zhongli: I personally prefer Diona over zhongli, not only for cryo synergy that with this comps gives a circumstantial buff, but with a well built c6 Diona it can out dmg a zhongli comp. Also it frees up zhongli for another team. BUT, Diona Shield it weaker, so you have to pay more attention, whilst with zhongli you can be the laziest player and just shoot while everything dies around you in a zone of melting death 💀🔥 Melt/freeze: Melt has a higher dps, but its situational. Freeze has a more constant output. Melt needs you to be in very close range, so it can be trickier to play, while freeze it’s way easier. Hope I helped too. (Edit: I’m a mobile player, so it’s a bit harder to main her when compared to pc/ps but it’s not impossible.)
I have been preparing to get Ganyu on her rerun for so long now, Amos Bow from standard has been sitting idle in my inventory for months, I have a fully farmed Wanderer's set with good substats, and I've pre-farmed all her mats. And yet I still didn't know about the 0.3 delay on Frostflake Bloom counting towards Amos' passive! Thanks for the guide Sevy, I learned something I never realised.
Great guide Sevy! I will be pulling for her and C1, and Amos bow. I plan to make a perma freeze team with her, Ayaka, Mona/Kokomi, and Venti/Kazuha. Ganyu is one of my favorite characters and I missed out on her a year ago. I’ve farmed all her mats so she’ll be a day 1 lvl 90, with talent lvls 10,9,9, and a lvl 90 Amos bow.
Nice guide, super thorough but to the point. I “accidentally” pulled Ganyu while hoping to get a couple of XQ or Yanfei cons so should really build her and this was useful to watch
Excellent guide as always! I've had Ganyu since her first banner. I used her for months in a team with Zhongli, Albedo and Qiqi! I know it's not meta and not as high dps as melt ganyu or as efficient as morgana but it's a fun unga bunga team!
Ganyu was one of those love at first sight situations, I saw her in the MSQ and exclaimed that I needed her to be a playable character. PS. I don't know if I want to get a constellation, I might roll and see if one pops but honestly I will probably just save for Yae. I got Amos from the standard banner last year so I don't need to waste gems on the weapon banner either. From a Ganyu main I recommend trying to stay above 50% CR ideally 55-60% for a WT Melt build. If you want to use BS that's going to give you more flexibility but just remember that enemies who can't be affected by cryo are going to become a real problem if you don't have a decent base CR. Only other thing I can add is to not get discouraged if you feel like your damage isn't up there with people who have had her for a while. Just keep working on her, she isn't "broken" people just bait views by saying that. She is a glass cannon who will reward you for optimal play, and her damage ceiling scales very high. She will grow with your account as long as you don't neglect her. Good luck!

Got her since her first launch. Also my first rate up five star and she’s my most used dps character 😅 Easy to build than other dps and she has decent amount of options for weapons and artifacts. Only downside I see for her is her team comps some of them being not so f2p accessible to show her full potential but other than that she’s a one many army

Excitement is trough the roof, I'm in need of a good cryo DPS and happened to have rly good wanderers pieces, a skyward harp and a guaranteed pity. Ganyu wanters will be Ganyu havers!!
Ive had her since the beginning and ahes been so good to me. She was my first limited character and I originally built her for freeze and now melt and shes going back to freeze with shenhe buffing her . R5 crescent and with my shenhe shes hitting c1 with r1 Amos bow numbers. Shes amazing! Attack %/Cryo dmg bonus and Crit rate helm. Shes easy to build and easy to play on PC....on mobile...idk, shes kinda difficult to play on mobile. My future team will be Ganyu, Ayaka, Shenhe and kokomi. Amazing team there. High DPS ceiling and freeze everything + keep HP up almost all the time
I got her since her first run and I am happy to say that she is an absolute beast specially with a reverse melt comp and never left my team ever since, I personally use her with a 4 peice wanderer's which is really great on her
I got her in her recent rerun and finally managed to start building her. I have her on a very (heavy emphasis) scuffed build rn but she’s dealing way more damage than I have ever dealt. I like playing pyro characters more but I have just about everyone in her best team comps mentioned in here so I’m definitely going to start building them once I have her on a halfway decent build
I first intend to use Ganyu as my second main DPS with the amos bow that I got from the standard banner. But I intend to get a melee cryo DPS to substitute Ganyu, because I prefer melee style. Then I will sometimes use Ganyu with the Elegy for a support in my Hu Tao team.
i just got her on the Chronicled Wish and am using her as support for Neuvi ! i didn't realize she could be played as support and am really liking her now.
As a returning player in May 2023 - i appreciate this video my friend recommended! I pulled a Ganyu and Amos bow so they recommended I watch this so I can build a good team comp with my current units while I catch up.
I've been using shimenawa for Ganyu, not bad. It's all about rotation, when you pop your burst, rotate w/ another cryo as battery then when you switch back to ganyu you have enough energy again for your E, then Q will be up again in a few charge shots.
Ganyu's like an ice grenade launcher. She's the only one who can do AoE with bow charged attacks so far, no E or Q necessary. And SPOILERS: Ganyu can still do big damage when Ei blocks your visions.
thank you for this concise and informative guide, I accidentally got the Amos bow last night and have no archers to use, so I wished on and got Ganyu, despite previously planning to never get her. Charge atk on a phone is my main concern, but I really wanted a cryo dps and a permafreeze team, so I guess it's manageable. And I really like the graphic design of her skill and burst and the consistent cryo aoe even though I don't like her character design at all. So glad I can make use of my Mona now.
I'm gonna build Ganyu 2 ways: 4pc. Wanderer's with Amos' Bow for charged shots, potentially with melt and whatnot; and 4pc. Blizzard with a weapon like Skyward Harp or other Crit Dmg. Bows, for freeze comps. Also with charged shots.
Won both 50/50 for her n weapon. Been spending my time for the past 2 weeks to build her. She has a 4 piece blizzard strayer with cryo goblet which are all lvl 12. She is lvl 60 and Amos is lvl 70. Atk is 1.5k with crit rate of 38.1 to crit dmg 128.
My Ganyu is lvl90 ,Normal Talent 10,have ~2300 Atk, 48:156 crit ratio, 4pc Wanderers and Hamayumi R5. It deals about 12k then 24k on her CA. And that's without support buffs. Melt comp deals more dmg but I have a hard time/can't be bothered to rotate other characters in correct timing. Nowhere near as good as content creators showcases but it still she's still my strongest character.
Don’t worry. Showcase is nearly perfect build, not many can have that dmg. Mine is atk 2100 with 55:270 crit with skyward and 4pc blizzard. Her CA in domain is only 50k in total.
My advice from my own research and IMO if you have Harp & Amos - use the Harp if you need more CRIT Rate (my build) but if you have very squishy artifacts go for AMOS for its awesome passive. Use whatever 4pc set you have available for either weapon. Hope that helps! Good luck pulling for her.
I currently have 468 wishes saved for Ganyu, so you could definitely say I'm a future Ganyu haver... I'll be giving her the Thundering Pulse since I have it, and I've got viable sets for both Wanderer's Troupe 4-piece, and Blizzard Strayer 4-piece. Not great, but viable. Once I get Venti or Kazuha, I'll just change between melt and morgana as the situation (or boredom) sees fit!
I'm praying to win the 50/50 on her new rerun!! I've been information dumping my brain on her to use her the best I can! it would be amazing to get any tips from players who use her or are experienced with her playstyle ^^ I main Yanfei, so I am going to be using her in a melt team probably :3
I never was prepared for any character, as I prepared for Ganyu. I saved bunch of wishes (pd 46 and saved 127 wishes atm). I have good Wanderer set already with Skyward Harp (she will have around 2k atk, 50% crt rate and 244% crt dmg). Also I prepared materials for all ascensions and lvl 90. Also I prepared talent books so my Ganyu will have 10-9-10 talents. I don't have good cryo dps character (Chongyun and Rosaria are fine, but they are way weaker and not as versitile as Ganyu), so I'm rly excited for getting Ganyu. I have idea in current abyss use Ganyu as second dps with Hu Tao, Xingqiu and Zhongli in current abyss 12 floor 2nd half. wish people who will pull her will get her ^^

So even if I will be extremelly unlucky and will hit pd 90 both times - I still will get her anyway ^^ I have same situation. I have good dps characters of other elements, but Ganyu is last character I'm realy need. So lets get our queen and will enjoy this beautiful game even more ^^

I wanna get better crit ratio and use Hamayumi on her bcs even without energy Hamayumi at R4 (I have it already) deal way more dmg than skyward. But Skyward for now will be better bcs dmg will be more consistant. Hope you will get better artifacts soon and will enjoy this character even more :3
Melt ganyu is super strong but if you wanna make a really good team with her i recommend freeze comp 1: ganyu 2: ayaka or shenhe 3: mona or kokomi 4: venti or kazuha This team is a really scary team trust me it’ll be the strongest team you will ever have !!😵💫
I had this in mind already. Just waiting for koko rerun. I have Ganyu, Shenhe and Ayaka ready. Although in that comp I cant say I would use the other 2. Only kokomi gives this comp survivability. The other 2 wont save them at all from getting K O. for abyss only kokomi makes that comp work
I waited more than a year for her. Have skipped 3 banners and save enough f2p primos to make sure i will have her. I have amos bow, full wonder set with 63/165 crit ratio, mona with 200%er, c1 zhongli, kazuha and venti. I will have her this time. Its not about damage, it about keeping a promise
Hi Sevyy!! I came back to watch your Ganyu Guide co'z I am planning on pulling for Ganyu this time. During her banner, I had to pull zhongli so I felt so bad I didn't get her back then. But now, it seems that Hoyoverse is hinting on me to pull her as they gave me Amo's Bow just today from the standard banner. That's my first ever 5 star at standard and I feel happy. I also happen to have some good Wanderer's set in store for her. I am at 64 pity with 15 fates saved up at the moment. Hopefully I win 50/50 this time. Huhu wish me luck
I was on the fence about whether I should pull for Coco G.O.A.T. or Geo Daddy, but then I got Yanfei's C4 from standard the other day and, while farming ascension mats for Yunjin, the Golden Wolf Lord blessed me with a 5* Wanderer's Troupe Cryo DMG Goblet with Atk%, EM and both Crit substats that rolled once into Crit Rate and everything else went into Crit DMG. Alright, RNGesus, I got the hint. Unfortunately, that means I just spent all the luck I'll ever have in my life and I'm at the 50/50...
Not sure If someone mentioned this already but Predator bow is also a great f2p option for playstation players. It has the same substats and main stat as the Prototype Crescent but its enchantment gives a 10% bonus to Normal and Charged Attack damage after dealing cryo damage (max 2 stacks so 20%), which Ganyu will have no problem doing. It also matches her color scheme more if you care about that lol. It's definitely not as powerful as other bows but it's very consistent which is the aspect of Ganyu I love the most. She's always going to give results no matter the situation which is also why I'm pairing the Predator bow with 4pc Wanderer's, I like consistency over RNG.
First off, love the video. Extremely informative and def gonna subscribe now. As a Ganyu main, I find the Virdescent bow to be, even though a bit weaker, more reliable as a Crit rate basis. Giving you more room to grow your crit dmg stat as well as to help keep the enemies in place. Adding Shenhe to the mix with a character using the Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slaying as well as someone with a Res shred like Zhongli or Sucrose with her double shredding makes for one hell of a fun time especially for those who aren't as quick with their aim shots, granting you a nice and easy time to take your shots Side note: I noticed that the whirlwind also generated by the bow has a nice little added effect against certain enemies like the Electro Abyss Herald and the Electro Abyss mage just to name examples. When they do that little attack sequence launching electro spheres away from them in every direction, the whirlwind actually pulls them downwards and keep them in place so they don't even move from that spot before dispersing xD
I only have an R1 Prototype Crescent bow, at AR 35 and she's doing good but I'm curious to see if the weapon to choose in BP Pass is Viridescent Hunt? My other team members are fine with their weapons I think. Ganyu as my main, and have Chongyun with Sacrificial greatsword so he can keep his burst up quickly, Beidou with Wolf's Gravestone I happened to get from Standard Banner, and last slot can depend on what I'm fighting. I have Bennett with the Favonius, Xingqiu with Sacrificial Sword, and Diona has Sacrificial.
I see a lot of people missing out on this but, if you have a C4 Yanfei sitting on your bench she is a very reliable shielder for Ganyu in a Melt team. Just slap a Thrilling tales on her with 2 pc Milileth + 2 Emblem & you're golden. She also makes it easier to use Pyro resonance with Bennett & then you can fill the 4th slot with an Anemo shredder like Kazuha/Sucrose. Good luck to all Ganyu wanters! 👍🏼
Can't wait to have ganyu. I have an Amos bow saved up from her last banner but I wished on xiao instead. And now the bow sits on my yoimiya. I'm pretty much guaranteed a ganyu from pity and can't wait to get her.
I've waited soooo long for her and am not at all disappointed. I'm building her first for burst support, since I already invested heavily in Ayaka, and have been running her with Harp and Blizzard Strayer. She's already doing ridiculous damage with low level talents (granted a lot of it is amplified by other teammates). She has a pretty good Blizzard set after all the farming I did for Ayaka, but I might actually swap over to Wanderer's as the default to give her a more well-rounded kit so I can go between melt or freeze without a ton of juggling. Much easier to change up the team than the gear.

Up to this day, ganyu is my best pick for abyss. Ganyu, diona, xiangling, and bennett. I use venti's signature weapon because I don't have her sig weap :(. I deal 70k+ dmg per charge, while xiangling deals 28k+ dmg. Combine that I deal 100k dmg everytime xiang and ganyu hits the enemy. I'm f2p
Finally got her today at last minute pull and so happy to win her on my 50/50. Now I really need an anemo character to because ever since I got Mona, I've been waiting for Ganyu

As someone that built ganyu with BS during her first run -- I would personally only recommend running it if you're low ar and going for the set bonus only. While it's awesome that you can stack tons of critdmg for free -- most overworld bosses or spiral abyss enemies can't be frozen. Which just CUTS her viability. Meanwhile, sets with charge attack bonus will always be there for you, and will still work on every type of enemy.
I’m no ganyu haver, but I believe that if you achieve a headshot, it will always be a crit, so maybe might as well not build crit rate on her. Of course, there are enemies who has no weakspot so it’s not the most versitile playstyle
I've been waiting for her rerun since the raiden banner. I'll build her with amos r1 and 4 wanderers with a 35/45-200 crit ratio. Was planning on doing a melt comp with kazuha and tankfei but i may drop it for a permafreeze with tartaglia if I can't pull off the melt.
After a year having her I'm still a Ganyu main. The first character to reach Lv 90 and using a crown. I have 2 slots in teamp comps for permafreeze and melt and its corresponding artifact sets just for her. Nowadays only Raiden, Xiangling and her can make the DPS neccesary to 36 star the abyss each season. I really recommend her.
I like simple teams. I use Shenhe, Zhongli, Ninguan and Ganyu. With this I get 35% cryo res shred, extra dmg from resonances and dmg boost. Ninguan is mainly there for resonance and burst dmg.
I accidentally pulled Kokomi back then and I was very upset cause ppl were saying she's not good and all, she's been my main healer ever since regardless, and now that I pulled ganyu c1 I'm absolutely enjoying charge shooting at all different kinds of ice statues XD

I got her the very first day her banner dropped. All I can say is, her charge attacks are no doubt strong and powerful especially when you do reverse melt, she's also a good support for certain characters. She's very F2P friendly knowing the fact that there are a lot of bows that you can craft using your billets. The downside though, her playstyle is not everyone's cup of tea because it could take you a few seconds to land that charge shot, her shots are slower than others. If you pull for her design, that's no question, she's hot and her design is great.
Idk how good it would be but I might reconsider pulling her for Zhongli since I already have a Diona and Mona . I can always ditch Fischl and throw Skyward Harp on Ganyu instead

I find these really useful even as a new player who won’t get the character bc it helps to understand how they play when you’re coop with players using them. Like, do I stand in that fire or do I avoid it, type stuff.

If you're a new player and haven't done the story quests, you can get +10k primos or more if you play the story and explore. I got 14.6k primos in a month of playing and then pulled for my favorite character.
If you just started, you have plenty of places where you can get enough primos before the banner comes. Good luck!

You kind of missed the point of Hamayumi, Ganyu loses dps in melt comps if she casts her burst because the burst will eat almost all of the reverse melt procs that you want her charged shots melting. So with melt Ganyu you always get the 100% increased effect with Hamayumi, and it provides a bit more dps than prototype crescent in melt comps because of this and doesn't require the player to hit headshots like the prototype crescent either.

Having heard this before crafting 4 Cresent bows really would've helped
This is why I have a R5 hamayumi bow. Also I don;t really want to be bothered aiming at weakpoints.
Crescent has more dmg overall and is more versatile...especially in my situation. Shenhe is a much bigger buff than that bow plus I aim well so the dmg is consistent whether its freeze or melt teams for my ganyu.
That bow also limits her to just charge shot only so its kinda meh. I love using her entire kit

Had Ganyu since her first run and today is even our 1 year anniversary together since shes my first 5 star so i will pull her again because she deserves it
i use her as a support for ayaka alongside with shenhe and kokomi for hydro application and i think it's my favorite team comp so far!
You can honestly just farm shimenawa and feed your artifacts to the strongbox for wanderer.
This way, you get to farm for both.
Just wanted to add that i've used the battle pass bow on her for almost a year now and it's pretty good even if it's not the best option, never had any issues beating stuff with her

Some thoughts as a dedicated Ganyu main:
Weapon: I use a blackcliff warbow because then the artefacts min/max becomes a lot more forgiving. But I’m hoping to get an amos.
Artefacts: I tested her in different sets and combinations but the best/most fun ones are wanderers and blizzard for sure. I have a terrible luck with blizzard, so my freeze comp gets a lot less dmg the the melt comp.
Comps:
Freeze- Ganyu, Mona, Sucrose and Diona: I do not have venti, but sucrose works fine and give a nice buff. Don’t under build your mona, although not the primary dps, building her properly can give a huge bmg boost, same goes to sucrose/venti, diona is more forgiving. I find that jean does not work so well with this comp.
Melt:
Ganyu, Xiangling, bennet, diona/zhongli: I personally prefer Diona over zhongli, not only for cryo synergy that with this comps gives a circumstantial buff, but with a well built c6 Diona it can out dmg a zhongli comp. Also it frees up zhongli for another team. BUT, Diona Shield it weaker, so you have to pay more attention, whilst with zhongli you can be the laziest player and just shoot while everything dies around you in a zone of melting death 💀🔥
Melt/freeze: Melt has a higher dps, but its situational. Freeze has a more constant output. Melt needs you to be in very close range, so it can be trickier to play, while freeze it’s way easier.

(Edit: I’m a mobile player, so it’s a bit harder to main her when compared to pc/ps but it’s not impossible.)

I have been preparing to get Ganyu on her rerun for so long now, Amos Bow from standard has been sitting idle in my inventory for months, I have a fully farmed Wanderer's set with good substats, and I've pre-farmed all her mats. And yet I still didn't know about the 0.3 delay on Frostflake Bloom counting towards Amos' passive! Thanks for the guide Sevy, I learned something I never realised.
Great guide Sevy! I will be pulling for her and C1, and Amos bow. I plan to make a perma freeze team with her, Ayaka, Mona/Kokomi, and Venti/Kazuha. Ganyu is one of my favorite characters and I missed out on her a year ago. I’ve farmed all her mats so she’ll be a day 1 lvl 90, with talent lvls 10,9,9, and a lvl 90 Amos bow.

Excellent guide as always! I've had Ganyu since her first banner. I used her for months in a team with Zhongli, Albedo and Qiqi! I know it's not meta and not as high dps as melt ganyu or as efficient as morgana but it's a fun unga bunga team!
Ganyu was one of those love at first sight situations, I saw her in the MSQ and exclaimed that I needed her to be a playable character.
PS. I don't know if I want to get a constellation, I might roll and see if one pops but honestly I will probably just save for Yae. I got Amos from the standard banner last year so I don't need to waste gems on the weapon banner either.
From a Ganyu main I recommend trying to stay above 50% CR ideally 55-60% for a WT Melt build. If you want to use BS that's going to give you more flexibility but just remember that enemies who can't be affected by cryo are going to become a real problem if you don't have a decent base CR.
Only other thing I can add is to not get discouraged if you feel like your damage isn't up there with people who have had her for a while. Just keep working on her, she isn't "broken" people just bait views by saying that. She is a glass cannon who will reward you for optimal play, and her damage ceiling scales very high. She will grow with your account as long as you don't neglect her. Good luck!

If that wanderer's all good then you don;t really need to change anything for a freeze comp unless ganyu isnt the main dps.

Easy to build than other dps and she has decent amount of options for weapons and artifacts. Only downside I see for her is her team comps some of them being not so f2p accessible to show her full potential but other than that she’s a one many army

Ive had her since the beginning and ahes been so good to me. She was my first limited character and I originally built her for freeze and now melt and shes going back to freeze with shenhe buffing her . R5 crescent and with my shenhe shes hitting c1 with r1 Amos bow numbers. Shes amazing!
Attack %/Cryo dmg bonus and Crit rate helm. Shes easy to build and easy to play on PC....on mobile...idk, shes kinda difficult to play on mobile.
My future team will be Ganyu, Ayaka, Shenhe and kokomi. Amazing team there. High DPS ceiling and freeze everything + keep HP up almost all the time
I got her since her first run and I am happy to say that she is an absolute beast specially with a reverse melt comp and never left my team ever since, I personally use her with a 4 peice wanderer's which is really great on her
I got her in her recent rerun and finally managed to start building her. I have her on a very (heavy emphasis) scuffed build rn but she’s dealing way more damage than I have ever dealt. I like playing pyro characters more but I have just about everyone in her best team comps mentioned in here so I’m definitely going to start building them once I have her on a halfway decent build

I first intend to use Ganyu as my second main DPS with the amos bow that I got from the standard banner. But I intend to get a melee cryo DPS to substitute Ganyu, because I prefer melee style. Then I will sometimes use Ganyu with the Elegy for a support in my Hu Tao team.
i just got her on the Chronicled Wish and am using her as support for Neuvi !
i didn't realize she could be played as support and am really liking her now.

I just got the Skyward Harp from the standard banner and came here to check if it's a good bow for my Ganyu. Great to hear it is.
I've been using shimenawa for Ganyu, not bad. It's all about rotation, when you pop your burst, rotate w/ another cryo as battery then when you switch back to ganyu you have enough energy again for your E, then Q will be up again in a few charge shots.
Ganyu's like an ice grenade launcher. She's the only one who can do AoE with bow charged attacks so far, no E or Q necessary.
And SPOILERS:
Ganyu can still do big damage when Ei blocks your visions.
can't wait to finally get her...already have an insane shimenawa set with 300 crit dmg and 45 crit rate for her....

thank you for this concise and informative guide, I accidentally got the Amos bow last night and have no archers to use, so I wished on and got Ganyu, despite previously planning to never get her. Charge atk on a phone is my main concern, but I really wanted a cryo dps and a permafreeze team, so I guess it's manageable. And I really like the graphic design of her skill and burst and the consistent cryo aoe even though I don't like her character design at all. So glad I can make use of my Mona now.
I'm using my current guaranteed for Zhongli, but will be making a hearty effort for a Ganyu 50/50 win. This guide has been very helpful.
I'm gonna build Ganyu 2 ways:
4pc. Wanderer's with Amos' Bow for charged shots, potentially with melt and whatnot; and
4pc. Blizzard with a weapon like Skyward Harp or other Crit Dmg. Bows, for freeze comps. Also with charged shots.
Won both 50/50 for her n weapon. Been spending my time for the past 2 weeks to build her. She has a 4 piece blizzard strayer with cryo goblet which are all lvl 12. She is lvl 60 and Amos is lvl 70. Atk is 1.5k with crit rate of 38.1 to crit dmg 128.
My Ganyu is lvl90 ,Normal Talent 10,have ~2300 Atk, 48:156 crit ratio, 4pc Wanderers and Hamayumi R5. It deals about 12k then 24k on her CA. And that's without support buffs. Melt comp deals more dmg but I have a hard time/can't be bothered to rotate other characters in correct timing. Nowhere near as good as content creators showcases but it still she's still my strongest character.
Don’t worry. Showcase is nearly perfect build, not many can have that dmg. Mine is atk 2100 with 55:270 crit with skyward and 4pc blizzard. Her CA in domain is only 50k in total.
Is 48 crit rate good?
@@Lynxel Ganyu's passive adds 20 crit rate plus 15 crit rate from cryo resonance makes it good enough. But needs more crit rate if using melt.

My advice from my own research and IMO if you have Harp & Amos - use the Harp if you need more CRIT Rate (my build) but if you have very squishy artifacts go for AMOS for its awesome passive. Use whatever 4pc set you have available for either weapon. Hope that helps! Good luck pulling for her.
I currently have 468 wishes saved for Ganyu, so you could definitely say I'm a future Ganyu haver... I'll be giving her the Thundering Pulse since I have it, and I've got viable sets for both Wanderer's Troupe 4-piece, and Blizzard Strayer 4-piece. Not great, but viable. Once I get Venti or Kazuha, I'll just change between melt and morgana as the situation (or boredom) sees fit!
I'm praying to win the 50/50 on her new rerun!! I've been information dumping my brain on her to use her the best I can! it would be amazing to get any tips from players who use her or are experienced with her playstyle ^^ I main Yanfei, so I am going to be using her in a melt team probably :3

I never was prepared for any character, as I prepared for Ganyu. I saved bunch of wishes (pd 46 and saved 127 wishes atm). I have good Wanderer set already with Skyward Harp (she will have around 2k atk, 50% crt rate and 244% crt dmg). Also I prepared materials for all ascensions and lvl 90. Also I prepared talent books so my Ganyu will have 10-9-10 talents.
I don't have good cryo dps character (Chongyun and Rosaria are fine, but they are way weaker and not as versitile as Ganyu), so I'm rly excited for getting Ganyu. I have idea in current abyss use Ganyu as second dps with Hu Tao, Xingqiu and Zhongli in current abyss 12 floor 2nd half.

I have same situation. I have good dps characters of other elements, but Ganyu is last character I'm realy need. So lets get our queen and will enjoy this beautiful game even more ^^
@@theelement_c6684 this stats are like this mostly bcs of Harp. I wanna get better crit ratio and use Hamayumi on her bcs even without energy Hamayumi at R4 (I have it already) deal way more dmg than skyward. But Skyward for now will be better bcs dmg will be more consistant.

Melt ganyu is super strong but if you wanna make a really good team with her i recommend freeze comp
1: ganyu 2: ayaka or shenhe 3: mona or kokomi 4: venti or kazuha

I had this in mind already. Just waiting for koko rerun. I have Ganyu, Shenhe and Ayaka ready. Although in that comp I cant say I would use the other 2. Only kokomi gives this comp survivability. The other 2 wont save them at all from getting K O. for abyss only kokomi makes that comp work

Hi Sevyy!! I came back to watch your Ganyu Guide co'z I am planning on pulling for Ganyu this time. During her banner, I had to pull zhongli so I felt so bad I didn't get her back then. But now, it seems that Hoyoverse is hinting on me to pull her as they gave me Amo's Bow just today from the standard banner. That's my first ever 5 star at standard and I feel happy. I also happen to have some good Wanderer's set in store for her. I am at 64 pity with 15 fates saved up at the moment. Hopefully I win 50/50 this time. Huhu wish me luck
I was on the fence about whether I should pull for Coco G.O.A.T. or Geo Daddy, but then I got Yanfei's C4 from standard the other day and, while farming ascension mats for Yunjin, the Golden Wolf Lord blessed me with a 5* Wanderer's Troupe Cryo DMG Goblet with Atk%, EM and both Crit substats that rolled once into Crit Rate and everything else went into Crit DMG.
Alright, RNGesus, I got the hint.
Unfortunately, that means I just spent all the luck I'll ever have in my life and I'm at the 50/50...
This is why I follow you your guide is much more detailed than the other.
Not sure If someone mentioned this already but Predator bow is also a great f2p option for playstation players. It has the same substats and main stat as the Prototype Crescent but its enchantment gives a 10% bonus to Normal and Charged Attack damage after dealing cryo damage (max 2 stacks so 20%), which Ganyu will have no problem doing. It also matches her color scheme more if you care about that lol. It's definitely not as powerful as other bows but it's very consistent which is the aspect of Ganyu I love the most. She's always going to give results no matter the situation which is also why I'm pairing the Predator bow with 4pc Wanderer's, I like consistency over RNG.

As a Ganyu main, I find the Virdescent bow to be, even though a bit weaker, more reliable as a Crit rate basis. Giving you more room to grow your crit dmg stat as well as to help keep the enemies in place. Adding Shenhe to the mix with a character using the Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slaying as well as someone with a Res shred like Zhongli or Sucrose with her double shredding makes for one hell of a fun time especially for those who aren't as quick with their aim shots, granting you a nice and easy time to take your shots
Side note: I noticed that the whirlwind also generated by the bow has a nice little added effect against certain enemies like the Electro Abyss Herald and the Electro Abyss mage just to name examples. When they do that little attack sequence launching electro spheres away from them in every direction, the whirlwind actually pulls them downwards and keep them in place so they don't even move from that spot before dispersing xD
I only have an R1 Prototype Crescent bow, at AR 35 and she's doing good but I'm curious to see if the weapon to choose in BP Pass is Viridescent Hunt? My other team members are fine with their weapons I think.
Ganyu as my main, and have Chongyun with Sacrificial greatsword so he can keep his burst up quickly, Beidou with Wolf's Gravestone I happened to get from Standard Banner, and last slot can depend on what I'm fighting. I have Bennett with the Favonius, Xingqiu with Sacrificial Sword, and Diona has Sacrificial.

I see a lot of people missing out on this but, if you have a C4 Yanfei sitting on your bench she is a very reliable shielder for Ganyu in a Melt team. Just slap a Thrilling tales on her with 2 pc Milileth + 2 Emblem & you're golden. She also makes it easier to use Pyro resonance with Bennett & then you can fill the 4th slot with an Anemo shredder like Kazuha/Sucrose. Good luck to all Ganyu wanters! 👍🏼
Can't wait to have ganyu. I have an Amos bow saved up from her last banner but I wished on xiao instead. And now the bow sits on my yoimiya. I'm pretty much guaranteed a ganyu from pity and can't wait to get her.
I've waited soooo long for her and am not at all disappointed. I'm building her first for burst support, since I already invested heavily in Ayaka, and have been running her with Harp and Blizzard Strayer. She's already doing ridiculous damage with low level talents (granted a lot of it is amplified by other teammates). She has a pretty good Blizzard set after all the farming I did for Ayaka, but I might actually swap over to Wanderer's as the default to give her a more well-rounded kit so I can go between melt or freeze without a ton of juggling. Much easier to change up the team than the gear.

Up to this day, ganyu is my best pick for abyss. Ganyu, diona, xiangling, and bennett. I use venti's signature weapon because I don't have her sig weap :(. I deal 70k+ dmg per charge, while xiangling deals 28k+ dmg. Combine that I deal 100k dmg everytime xiang and ganyu hits the enemy. I'm f2p

As someone that built ganyu with BS during her first run -- I would personally only recommend running it if you're low ar and going for the set bonus only.
While it's awesome that you can stack tons of critdmg for free -- most overworld bosses or spiral abyss enemies can't be frozen. Which just CUTS her viability.
Meanwhile, sets with charge attack bonus will always be there for you, and will still work on every type of enemy.

I’m no ganyu haver, but I believe that if you achieve a headshot, it will always be a crit, so maybe might as well not build crit rate on her. Of course, there are enemies who has no weakspot so it’s not the most versitile playstyle
Saving for Ganyu for her rerun on Lantern Rita is just tradition at this point
I've been waiting for her rerun since the raiden banner. I'll build her with amos r1 and 4 wanderers with a 35/45-200 crit ratio. Was planning on doing a melt comp with kazuha and tankfei but i may drop it for a permafreeze with tartaglia if I can't pull off the melt.
After a year having her I'm still a Ganyu main. The first character to reach Lv 90 and using a crown. I have 2 slots in teamp comps for permafreeze and melt and its corresponding artifact sets just for her. Nowadays only Raiden, Xiangling and her can make the DPS neccesary to 36 star the abyss each season. I really recommend her.
I like simple teams. I use Shenhe, Zhongli, Ninguan and Ganyu. With this I get 35% cryo res shred, extra dmg from resonances and dmg boost. Ninguan is mainly there for resonance and burst dmg.

I accidentally pulled Kokomi back then and I was very upset cause ppl were saying she's not good and all, she's been my main healer ever since regardless, and now that I pulled ganyu c1 I'm absolutely enjoying charge shooting at all different kinds of ice statues XD
