I knew I wasn't crazy and this game used to have QTEs. Kinda sucks requiring to get headbutted or whatever by the wheelchair guy. I liked the leg kick more.
The trager elevator scene + outlast 2 qte's which are more aggressive???? Also these only happened on weak people or where miles had an advantage so it didn't ruin that
Not being able to fight doesn't mean he can't fight back. Those QTEs shows that even though Miles can't fight, he can still be able to resist with people that is weaker than him.
Not only is Miles not a fighter, but it also happens that most of the Variants have superhuman strength, so it wouldn't be a good idea to fight them one-on-one either.
Yes, I noticed it too! I would not call them unused, but rather simply cut out. The same thing was done in Resident Evil 5 - it is unknown why. Both here and there are now just crookedly stitched frames. The moment at 1:30 is generally very plot-important, but there should be no comments from Miles in the notes. In fact, he had just killed a man. And I think you've also forgotten the moment in Trager's chair when his fingers are cut off. There was a QTE there too.
I think they removed it because miles is said to not fight back in the slightest he just runs, and it would kinda drop emersion if you constantly have to expect quick time events, turning them into sudden jumpscares without taking any damage was clearly the better way to do it.
Can you give a tutorial on how to do this? Also, great video. I've been trying to find one with all of the QTEs, and it seems this is the only one I could find. I'll definitely be giving this video a like!
Thanks! I left a tutorial link on the video's description, but you need to open the steam console (you can do it by typing "steam://nav/console" on your web browser) and inside you type "download_depot 238320 238321 8000970596617978964". The download might take a while, but once a message pops up telling you it's complete, you head over to your steam directory (Steam/steamapps/content/app_238320/depot_238321) then copy and paste all the files inside your Outlast directory.
@@devarivaride2 I tried this method but now the game won't launch. Any ideas or advice on what to do? I got the download to work and I replaced all the files but perhaps something is going on with Steam where it won't let this older version of the game launch anymore
A couple of these don't even make any sense. Regardless if you win or lose the QTE, your ass is still gonna get knocked down anyways, but winning makes the guy walk past you instead of stomping your brains out. The female Ward first one at least makes more sense because the guy just pushes you aside in his madness.
The only two I find somewhat amusing are the wheelchair man and Upshur killing the one-eyed variant in the prison block. I don't see the other three jump scares serving much of a purpose. The pyromaniac's kitchen sequence is so awkwardly played out in both versions.
KInda wish they hadn't changed the baton variants. They were fine. Still, at least unlike the sequel they didn't remove chases. (But at least there's a mod to bring those back)
@@STEEL_HEADED Pretty sure it won't cause any issues. I didn't uninstall the DLC, and when I reverted the game back to normal, it was working just fine.
Its kinda funny that miles was only willing to throw hands if it involed a quick time event

Well, i get why they removed it. Thoses QTEs use to break the logic about Miles not fighting back, so it's okay not having them anymore.

The female ward old segment should have stayed. It was way scarier than the new one which was also very scary.

I don't understand why Red Barrels changed the three variants in the female ward.
