      Thanks so much for watching Tara, I really do appreciate it. I think it’s important to show the real things that happen, we all have fails now and then so no point in trying to pretend everything is just perfect all the time and if nothing else it might make a few people laugh so it’s worth sharing !

    Glad to see I'm not the only one who has various 'incidents' when out and about photting! With lockdown, I'm restricting my trips to where I can go on my bike. All good so far, then yesterday, about 7 miles from home, suffered a puncture! It was a long walk home although it was a lovely early morning and quite an enjoyable walk back. Got the pictures I was going for too!
    One thing I must do is remember to take my polariser filter with me as it's a 'watery' sunrise I'm trying to capture!
    Always look forward to seeing your vlogs, thanks for taking the time to film your exploits, Cheers, Andy

    Beautiful images mate. I do love a long exposure, but on this occasion the shorter exposures worked much better 👌
    Sorry to hear about your nightmare morning! I've had two disasters photography wise. I was with Tom, Neil and Luke at Corfe Castle a couple of years ago, it was an epic misty sunrise, at the end of the shoot I wasn't concentrating and put my tripod down on a slope, turned around and it crashed to the ground smashing my filter and shearing the front element off of my lens! My second disaster was far worse, I was at Dungy Head for sunset on my own, I put my camera bag on the ground behind me in what I thought was a safe position, suddenly I got taken out by a rogue wave up to my waist, I looked back at my camera bag which was under water! I didn’t know what to do, I was soaked and so was all of my gear, to cut a long painful story short I managed to dry everything off back at my accommodation, but I completely killed my 70-200 lens. Huge lesion learnt there!

    Ugh, more painful than funny. My only painful moment so far was out the Bill one morning last year when the wind took my tripod over (wasn't even windy, just a sudden gust) and shattered my only ND filter which remained attached to the lens, had to go back home for tools to remove it before I could go back out, so cross! Also I'd have to agree with a previous comment, the 2016 shot is perfect, but the cruise ship in shot for this vlog is of the time, you'll be able to look back and think although this was really tough, we made it through. As always, superb work.

    Kase magnetic filters are great ..... but a nightmare in bad weather ..... during a trip to Skye in October I lost a CPL on day 1, dropped another in a waterfall on day 2 and ended up soaked retrieving it and a CPL and ND blew off on Neist point on day 4 and ended up 10ft down the cliff in a crack. The wind was too strong to risk trying to retrieve them. The previous year I dropped my Lumix S1R in Blea Tarn. Despite being completely submerged for over a minute it worked fine afterwards and both camera and lens survived with no long term damage .....

    • @DanielWretham
      @DanielWretham  3 года назад

      That’s sad to hear steve, at least you’re ok that’s the main thing. I’ve never had a problem with the Kase filters, they seem to grip on no matter what the weather ! I had a lee system with a brand new CPL and hard grad on that just fell off the ring and ended up in a river never to be seen again the first day I used it ! Easy way to throw away £400 plus :/

    I'm glad your Osmo Pocket is all ok! The gimbal can be a little bit prone to damage! I use the pocket too, though I find using it with a phone really drains the battery fast, so don't normally link them up unless I really need a bigger view. You got some nice images though, despite the problems :)

    Well tho the tripod and phone fell over, at least it survived and your pics are gorgeous regardless of the mishap. My worst photographic experience happened in Durdle door, most definately my worst to date. I was crouching down to get a shot of some glistening cliff, when a rogue wave came in and knocked me over... then it dragged me down into the main ocean. Thanks to some miraculous timing, a second wave crashed down by my hips (not over my head) and pushed me back up the beach - however, when it started to pull me back again, I had to slam my Canon (still gripped in my hand!) into the sand to get enough leverage to stop me getting dragged back as far as the ocean. I survived. Camera survived (!!!) My phone, cable release, and the car remote which were all in my coat pocket, didnt. I was so miserable my week long trip trip ended there and I had to limp home without any sat nav (the phone! lol) As the tide was going out, and nowhere near where I was crouched, it took me totally by surprise, and proved that even knowing this, it still wasnt careful enough. My instagram took 4 different entries to tell the full story, and warn people that tho beautiful, Durdle door CAN have a nasty side if you arnt super, SUPER aware. This was Jan 2020, I havent been back since..and oceans still bring me fear... tho I have continually tried to revisit them to help combat that.
