hey Nick and Rach - really enjoying the effort you are putting into your videos. its a great watch. good luck and looking forward to following your progress
Have a look at JG push fit end caps for temporary capping of, much quicker than compression fittings. But I don't personally trust them for doing my main plumbing.... I would stick to solder or pro press fittings👍
Thanks, I have since seen those and using them now! Good point on the speed fit, I have since done 1st fix on the bathroom under the floors in speed fit mainly due to cost saving. They don’t have the best reputation but hopefully installed correctly we won’t have issues! Thanks for your comment!
@nickjmarshall 😬 under floor in speed fit... scary 😨 😂 some people swear by them but personally, watch some youtube on how to solder, it's so much cheaper than JG. I re did a house yearly this year and we thought we had rising damp, found out it was a leaky speed fit that wasn't done properly on the central heating and since that, I've never trusted them... but that's just me personally and I know alot of people who use them and never had issues! I'm a old fashion copper all the way guy 😛
@@WelcomeMrPatrick I don’t blame you, I PM mechanical & plumbing on commercial sites, most spec copper for obvious reasons but some choose cost saving for speed fit and personally haven’t seen an issue. May rethink and hire a crimp machine for press fit as I don’t trust myself with a blowtorch working above my head by wooden floor joists 😂 all comes with experience I guess!
@nickjmarshall Ah nice! Hopfully you can get some trade pricing on the plumbing supplies! Pro press is definitely the way if working in places you don't want any live flames! Expecially if your working in your loft with all that insulation 😛 Cost a bit extra for the fitting and initially cost of the gun, but all I can say, it's one of the best investments I've ever made. Expecially not having to drain the water completely dry when soldering or having to do all the health and safety to get a hot works permit 📛. I have total faith in you if you did go down the soldering route! Love the videos showing the progress, it also shows the world that everyone is capable to learn the skills to do anything 👍
@ definitely, that was my other worry, soldering without knowing whether there’s any water in the pipework! Definitely something to consider going forward. Thanks for your info!
@@benhorscroft2095 we had an asbestos surveyor come round to identify potential asbestos. He went round and took 4 samples. We paid £90 for the visit and £15 a sample. (Plus vat) Hope this helps!
Before you started any work? Id juts be super careful because houses of that exact age are the ones with asbestos, they even mixed asbestos with concrete so it can anywhere! Your artex looks suspiciously like my asbestos ceiling that out of anything I thought was artex and turned out to the only asbestos in the house! Your artex looks just never tell! Hopefully the asbestos’s guy has given you the go ahead before you started! Good luck it’s really coming on, your focus is mad you’re getting so much done!
@ Correct yeah before we started any scraping etc he came round and took samples specially of a vinyl under the stairs, kitchen floor tiles, the artex ceiling and behind the fireplace. Appreciate the kind words! Thanks for the support
Absolutely bossing it already team! Keep it up 😁

How did you go about the asbestos check in the artex pal? Looking to get some checked as well!

You scraped artex? Did you have it asbestos tested first? Much of it does of a certain age.
Yes we had it tested, all came back negative!
