I was watching a vid on rehab of a really old home. They found loose bricks stacked half way up the wall by the toilet behind wallboards. They asked around, it was soundproffing, to quiet toilet noise in next room!
It looks fantastic, Dawson! VERY well done. The challenge of putting up that tile wall - I don’t know if I’d ever be brave enough to do that! I’m also so glad you didn’t fall all the way through to the kitchen floor! Bet that woke you right up! LOL Love your videos, and I’ve been missing them. Glad you’re still out there being a DIY inspiration.
Why doesn’t it surprise me that you fell through the kitchen ceiling? 🤣 seriously, you have such tenacity and you put everything you have into your projects and they always turn out great!
Love the result. I hope your enjoying the final product! A few notes to level up your next reno: 1) it's a 70s house, so test texture and old drywall tape seams for asbestos. 2) Use strike plates to protect wires and pipes through studs and top/bottom plates. 3) Prefill large drywall holes with hot mud. Way better than spray foam, and gives the back of tape something solid.
Good job! Just one thing. It is not recommended to use green board for the ceiling. It’s too heavy and will eventually sag. I learned this lesson myself
I follow you on IG and am so glad my RUclips suggested this video because I somehow didn’t know you have a YT! Your bathroom looks so great and I love that green tile!
You should tape the corners with mud drywall and waterproof after Btw, RedGuard is junk.. you should get HydroBan or AquaDefense instead.. both are much better products
Don't know if I'd call it cheap. I just priced out mineral wool for an upcoming bathroom reno and it's going to cost $500 for all 60ish sq ft. The rockwool brand is >$70/bag, and even the cheaper R15 mineral wool is nearly $60 to fill a couple stud bays. I agree with the utility, but insulating is expensive. Behind finishings it's my priciest line item.
Homie, if your house was built in the 70's, all that insulation that fell on your head when you took down the ceiling drywall most likely had asbestos in it...
I don’t understand how everyone is so amazed by this when he made his bathroom look 10x older than when he started I wouldn’t even have considered remodeling that bathroom yet until it was falling apart it looked like it had been renovated in the early 2000s since nothing about that bathroom says 70s to me
I've subscribed because anyone who falls through a ceiling and still finishes off the original job deserves a subscriber
i know someone who fell through the attic and is now paraplegic.
Great work, looks awesome!
That tile in the shower looks fantastic. Great job!
the green tile wall for the bath is gorgeous!

You killed it - it looks so good! 👏 The green tiles with that color faucet/shower head is perfect. 👌
Gorgeous!
wow now I am inspired and will retile my bathroom
I love it Dawson, a beautiful transformation! how bad was the mold situation though behind the vanity?

It’s awesome how u gave valuable advice AND said it nicely. It’s refreshing to see this on the internet
Not true. 5/8” drywall is used on ceilings commonly and is significantly heavier than green board. Just has to be screwed correctly.
@@ryane2626looks like 24oc joists. So….
nice job man! i just don't know why you kept the tub. a whole shower with a glass would be perfect! congrats, looks amazing.
Looks amazing.
Thank you!! One of my favorite spaces in the house for sure!

Awesome
Thank you thank you!
My dear💕💕💕💕
This bathroom used you to renovate itself. lol!
Car guy equivalent of "while you're in there, might as well....."
Nice to know dentists are pros in hanging drywalls.
Honestly!
2:02 well, that got real dark real quick!!
Chris fix vibes

I agree but redguard is fine just have to do more coats.
Surprised you didn’t have bugs with all that water damage
But why would you not add some isolation in the wall at that point? Even if it's just for sound control. Rockwool is cheap af.

sooo im buying a home soon, what kind of people are you talking to to get reassurance on your decisions? lol I need help and need to save some money!!
I didn't know Tony Hawk was a carpenter.

Definitely not. It’s blown in fiberglass insulation. Asbestos is grainy pellets and is called vermiculite. Very easy to spot.
You have a pretty cool name
Marry Bridgette. She loves you, anyone willing to spend this much time helping you likes you... a lot lol
great job!!!

Mold and water damage was the consideration
Clown show
