Yes, I suspect so, constant whirring (not loud but was uniform all night). Next time I think I would set to auto 1 (instead of auto 3). Thanks! Have a nice day.
Just so you’re aware, because of how a heat pump is working. The BTU’s you were pumping into the car ( to raise internal temperature) were coming from the Garage (lowering “ambient” temperature) With the garage volume this probably had very little significance . But does have some effect in the data of energy usage and garage temperature by morning.
Yep, this was trial run (it would also impact co2 levels (air trapped in garage), but doing some research and it looked like that would be pretty insignificant and would have only made results worse.
thank you for making this!! i plan on sleeping in the EV6 GT for 6 months while on “business travel,” and showering in the gym/facilities there. will save me $500 a month and honestly I am used to living spartan. plus it helped me justify to the wifey buying an EV6 GT hahahaha
I don't recall brand but it was just 4" memory foam bed topper from Amazon. It is a bit bulky, but keep in the house for guests. An air mattress might be more compact. Mine was a twin, but could buy wider and cut around wheel wells to fit tighter.
Worst case AC is probably around 3 kW, so maybe 24 kWh in 8 hours, but realistically probably average much less since overnight doesn't have sun shining down heating up the car.
I appreciate the test, but surely driving in the car with air con off (or circulating) would have the same issue regarding CO2 with a family of 4 in the car? I've slept in cars from time to time with no issues (albeit got cold!)
Pretty good test-- you did the worst case scenario of having the car parked in an enclosed space. Most people would use utility mode to sleep in the car when they are parked outside and can get fresh airflow. It's important to leave recirculate air button off, which you did. Regarding the power usage, do you have the heat pump (AWD only in the US) or resistive heater? 8% battery usage for 8-10 hours of running the HVAC isn't that bad.
6 ft/1.83 m, but my torso is very tall (39"/1 m if I measure to top of head sitting flat). My head rubs on side of sunroof, but I still find it comfortable. I suggest sitting in one first if tall in the torso. Cluster visibility and HUD are bigger issues to me.
I realized you meant for sleeping. It is too short unless you do something to prop up head of mattress (it droops over seat). However, if I did that there would be plenty of room, a bit over 2 m to seat backs.
Utility mode leaves car turned on so you can use any high voltage devices like the AC/Heat or if you want to use the vehicle as a power source (V2L) for 120/240V power source to run refrigerator, electric grills, etc. US only gets 120 V adapter, but worldwide gets 240 V adapter. Yes, just leave it on all night for climate. Uses a lot of battery though.
I am 6'1" / 185 cm. It is plenty long, but need some support off seat end between front and rear seats under mattress or I have to scrunch up a bit. I am tall enough where I would do something if I were doing this regularly.
I can only think of 2 scenarios to actually warrant sleeping in a car... If you go camping with 3 people and there is no room in 1 tent. Or if you need a hotel and they have no reservations until the morning...other than that, if you're worried about CO2 levels crack 1 or 2 windows open. Problem solved.
@@cyberzev in that case if you have a spouse that throws you out every time they're "annoyed with you" then you should have invested in a mini van, a pickup truck, or a divorce lawyer.... and if you had too much too drink at some point then you ask someone to call you a cab before you decide to drink too much and aren't able to than risk getting a ticket wherever you parked or worse, risk throwing up in the car...anyhow, sounds like you created a complicated life for yourself, good luck.

You could lower the brightness on the interior light and also turn off the Nav/media screen to get it darker in the car
Thanks for doing this video. Curious what mattress you are using? Looking for a foam mattress I can roll up and store when not in use.

I have the heat pump model. I will have to try this winter outside
@@cyberzev Oh okay. I think the warning in the user manual about sleeping with the heat/AC on was a holdover warning for combustion engine cars.

You left out spouse is annoyed with you and you have to sleep somewhere else, or drank too much and shouldn't drive :)
