Me & my bf just took this route around 10 pm the other night. It is TERRIFYING. We were staying at a resort located near the 8th hairpin. About 8 mins before the resort, when we just passed the 8th hairpin, it became just way too dark and narrow with sharp turns getting more extreme. I told my bf to stop the car and call the people at the resort to see if they can come help us and drive us the rest of the way. They goodness they were able to help. They were so kind and helpful and drove us the rest of the way which, thank goodness it was only about 8 mins further. I definitely recommend visiting Ooty bc it is absolutely beautiful 🤩 but highly suggest you take the longer alternate route. ❤
The rules for hilly ghats are different. Give way to big climbing vehicles. They may take both sides of the road. Towards end there is a truck of milky mist parked near turn. That's also wrong

Appreciate the VW guy who patiently followed the principle of Hills Driving. ‘Give way for the climbing vehicles’. Many don’t do these nowadays
