This is really well honed skill. My hat's off to the driver. People like him are truly "the salt of the earth".
A few decades before now, Jamaica, being an old British colony, was commuted by Leyland buses with 2 ft diameter manual steering ( I imagine in Bangalore too). I remember as a child watching sweat drenched, shirtless drivers on similar rural island routes, literally hauling and pulling at the wheel; sometimes even standing to keep buses on roads. You could see the strain and pain on the body and the psyche (most drank). Old air brakes were sketchy, so the driver had to announce his proximity by yanking an air horn lever to create a sort of melody.....
The same in Kerala, India. The state govt bus drivers have been driving Ashok Leyland manual buses through similar hair pin bends in aryankavu, thamarassery etc. Power steering is such a blessing. Here, it isn't broken else he won't be able to turn the wheel this easily.
I like how you used "salt of the earth" for compliment. It was one of the best compliments I wish to receive myself.
Salt in history, was once quite a valuable substance. It was even used for currency. Salt is for preserving food and seasoning. Without salt, no meat would last and food would be bland.
Being called "salt of the earth" means that you're only so valuable that you add flavor to the world, and you help preserve whatever good humanity can offer.
Truly well deserved for the bus driver❤
My uncle used to to drive trucks in the Northeast Region in the 70s -90s and he said it was very difficult to drive in curve roads especially if it was fully loaded. His handy man used to help with the steering in tight corner due to it being being very hard to turn
My deepest Respekt for the driver. Incredible. Also amazing how calm he is.
Very true. Also, it's "respect."
@@googlewolly respekt means more respect :3
@@mikemoorer7990 c'mon man he's joking
@@mikemoorer7990 thankz for Ur respeKtz, mee-keh moo-RER, now puT thaT in YouR ___
@@mikemoorer7990 Fair enough. You would then RESPECT my father who was my teacher. If you live in Germany using your Smartphone and write in English it can happen that parts of the message are corrected automatically. So respect can end up into German respekt. Which was overlooked by me. But it looks like you didn't have a problem understanding what the intention was. What is really fun is when the system automatically changes the above MESSAGE into MASSAGE. Reading that might have provoked you into having an erection. Anyway, should you find any other mistakes, you might keep them.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the power steering. Volvo has revolutionized steering with what they call Dynamic Steering and it is absolutely fenomenal. But well done, driver.
How does that work? Does it get lighter for parking etc and then stiffens up at speed?
@@TheBlaert makes it easier to control the vehicle in slick conditions and in case of a flat tyre
@@TheBlaert [Disclaimer: I'm not a truck driver; the following information was gathered from the Internet, including Volvo's homepage itself. I am not making any claims as to how well this system works.] Dynamic Steering is mostly assistance in holding a constant steering angle (most notably "none" = straight line) when you don't change the input on the steering wheel. It's basically an autonomous compensation for deviations from the driver input, which may happen through forces such as wind, road tilt, bumps, different surfaces or uneven breaking forces. Example: if you are going straight on a road, and a gust hits you from the side, you'd normally have to compensate for the wind force trying to push you off-course. With Volvo Dynamic Steering, the software notices the change in direction despite you not having turned the steering wheel, so it assumes this is an unwanted change and automatically compensates. The necessary corrections are calculated and applied 2000 times per second. It basically means you only have to touch the steering wheel when you actually want to change the direction. Another feature is automatic return to "straight" when backing up, and a third is variable supplementary force depending on the detected situation (probably speed, surface friction, carried load and turning speed related, to make them all feel the same despite the forces to actually turn the wheels being different).
What you described also exists, but it's usually described as a dynamic variable steering ratio or dynamic steering response (DSR), where the ratio of steering wheel to wheel turn varies depending on speed.
At last a driver that drives safely and controls his bus well

This man knows how to drive a bus...big respect!!!
His power steering never went out... he made most of those corners with one hand
Look how many complete rotations he has to make, in powered ones, you max out at 2-3 at most, he's making 4-5 rotations of the wheel
@@harshivpatel6238 That has nothing to do with power steering... He makes 4-5 rotations because his tires are very big and his steering wheel is very small. Think about it, if his tires were smaller he wouldn't have many rotations of the wheel at all but these big tires push him further into the corners and provokes understeer.
Actually you’re wrong because it didn’t completely went all off but partially.
Thus true.
The bus is very long which results in a very large turning radius. This has nothing to do with the already fine working power steering. I call this a misleading title click bait.
Big ups to the driver for his skills and keeping cool the whole drive down! What seems insurmountable to us may be but a small irritation for others!
Anyone else noticed how all the drivers had a thing going? like how they had a unwritten rule to let the other guy pass first and wait for them? I found it shocking. I this was in the states mf would wanna ram into each other or blast your ears off with horns before waiting.
@@jakeleo4518 that's because they drive on the left side of the road.
The technique is very good but what really makes this guy special is the attitude. Calm, unruffled, just lets all the complaints and honking roll right off his back. I drove bus professionally for years and achieving that attitude was the hardest thing about it. Hat off to you, sir.
The honks aren't at him or anybody else, the honks are to let people around the corner know you are about to take the turn so they need to wait.

Power steering looked fine to me. The driver could turn the wheel with ease.
Exactly. Drove a little van from work without it (old thing from the mid 90's) and was really dragging the wheel around in the tighter corners. If this bus would be without power steering, the driver would be heavily pushing and pulling the wheel and be sweating from trying to get it to go into the direction he wants to, not turn it with one hand.
If you've ever experienced a car without power steering, you can get a sense of just how hard that can already be, let alone a truck or bus...
Needless to say: big thumbs up to the driver. What I was seeing was common hairpin situations for vehicles that, in theory are just to large to take them without invading the other lane without prior warning.
When the bus is moving it’s easy to turn a wheel even with no power steering, seeing how he is struggling when it stops, that’s because the power steering is out.
You ever tried driving a bus with no power steering? Your comment is ridiculous.@@loganbaileysfunwithtrains606
@@snudge9626 I’ve drove a tri axle Mack RD686 dump truck with no power steering. I know what I’m talking about, while stationary it’s difficult to turn the wheel, when moving it’s easier to turn the wheel, it’s literally fundamental physics.
์No , I don't see him struggling at all , except possibly to turn the wheel quickly enough from lock to lock , certainly not showing any signs of having to use real force , which would be needed to turn when stationary without power assistance . One other major point is that if a vehicle has power assistance but it's not working , it can be almost impossible to move the dead power system .@@loganbaileysfunwithtrains606

It seems power steering is working very fine…if you have a chance try driving manual steering…can understand the difference…
These guys just wanted to get attention by keeping some misguiding captions. The steering seems to be in pristine condition.
At one point, he's even steering with his palm, which would be impossible without power assist
Most relaxing bus ride ever

When you say VOLVO the safety must come to your mind because they always consider about the safety of the passengers.
Even if they'd driven off the edge they would've survived with health benefits
First 3 seconds i thought he was flying the bus
It's all fun and games until the driver said "i also lover her bro"
It's B7R must be atleast 10 year old bus and these shouldn't be allowed on any kind of ghats these are okay to be driven on Highways but in ghasts it should be mandatory to be B9R or advance with proper power steering and all because this is too dangerous for passangers and too stressful and tiring for driver!
Yeah it is b7r. Usualy b8r s operating this route
I just read this comment and realised we living worlds apart, the buses and cars in our country are waayyyy wayyy over ten years old and we find that really new here. Haha
You seem to be more negative discouraging and more imaginative filled with fear.
