I'm so glad that you are doing this again with Robert, Az. I love these podcasts where you guys talk more about the good stuff instead of just the crappy stuff from current Entertainment.
I looked up old sci-fi shows from 1960+ and I have forgotten about more than half of them. Just doing the 60's era Outer Limits, Twlight Zone, Lost in Space, Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants, Sting Ray I forgot about. Always remember The Invaders for some reason and that jarring intro score. Star ToS fave 60's show. 70's forgot about Planet of the Apes, Mork and Mindy, The Tommorrow People, Future Cop. Remembered Loguns Run, BSG fave show, Buck Rogers, UFO, Six Million Dollar Man. 80's Forgot Alien Nation, Automan, Tripods, Quantum Leap, The Martian Chronicles, Red Dwalf. Remembered Galatica 80, but that was an awful show. Street Hawk, Knight Rider, Airwolf and V all fun back in the day. 90's Forgot 3rd Rock from the Sun, Dark Skies Tmetrax, Lexx, Prey, Roswell, Earth Final Conflict, Sliders man I loved Sliders and forgot it, sad. Semi remembered SeaDSVquest. B5 fave 90's show. 2000 and 2010 and lists goes on and on.
Fantastic Pallet Cleanser after all the rubbish at the Cinema and over streaming, I had so much fun in the live chat… Thanks Az and Robert …. it’s great to remember what made us all come together.
I found the monsters of Space 1999 to be absolutely terrifying. The THING at the spaceship graveyard, the towering green things that took over Alpha, the indestructible alien thing Maya fought. SCARY.
David (Darth Vader) Prowess 9:21 played the creature that Maya fought, and a couple other creatures Maya transformed into. Space 1999 is currently playing on Shout Studios on RUclips
The Bringers of Wonder used to weird me out too. LOL! I loved that Super Swift. I loved the blue distortion effect that followed the Superswift as it bore down on Alpha.
For approximately 40 years I've been trying to identify a movie I saw as a kid that stuck in my head. I could only remember a few parts. But I could never find mention of it on the internet. Then you guys mentioned "The Day After Tomorrow Into Infinity" and out of curiosity I jumped out of the video and looked at the trailer. And there it was. The long lost movie. No wonder I never saw it again. Talk about obscure. 40 year mystery finally solved. Thanks guys. Now all I have to do is figure out how to watch it...
Loved this era of sci-fi. Space-1999 was epic. Blakes Seven was worth watching as well.. and The Tripods (that unlike Space 1999 for AZ had things that did creep me out as a kid!). 70's/80's TV so good for a kid!!
I remember watching Dragons Domain when it was first aired in the UK. Sat watching it on a black and white tv in complete darkness, it scared the crap out of me! Next day at school it was all we could talk about. I also had a major crush on Barbara Bane….ah happy days!😊
One of the best sci-fi series ever, even considering the low tech at the time. It was incredible, with very substantive stories, really cool practical effects, way ahead of its time. This era was amazing! I remember watching these, the feeling was electric. There are situations that didn’t age well, but they’re from their own era… wouldn’t mind seeing a contemporary take, probably with (if I’m allowed to dream here…) directed by Villeneuve. And for the ones who like to compliant about how there’s “too much inclusion” today, that show was very inclusive, and everyone thought as it only natural.
Utterly adore this show... was always so amazing.. and people died often, adding stakes to every issue and conflict. I have all of it on LaserDisc and it's fantastic... Biggest toys of the Era: GI Joe play sets (with or without Kung-Fu grip) Micronauts Steve Austin Stretch Armstrong Space 1999 Eagle Giant Shogun Warriors Favorite Ep is Ian McShane's 'Force of Life' ... him turning into a glowing eye energy eating monster was fucking TERRIFYING 2nd would probably be when Mia is fed up with Allen's incessant terrible attempts to brew beer, so she drinks it and turns into a Mr Hyde type monster
The one that really freaked me out was "A Force of Life" which was the energy vampire that could blank out everyone's memory of its arrival, then posessed a guy and turned him into an energy vampire. The poor bastard didn't want to be a monster, so it had classic Universal monster vibes. But, I'd say his wife Eva added a lot to the show, because she was playing the loving wife watching her husband turn into something not human. So it was the byplay between Ian McShane and Gay Hamilton that really sold the horror of the tale. Eva was kind of hot too LOL (no bras in space had something to do with that I'm guessing) But, also she was very feminine which probably had even more to do with it. Anyone else remember femininity? I'm pretty sure it used to exist....
love Space 1999, I have a eagle lander model on my desk. I got on as a kid from Goodwill, was missing some part but i didnt care it was the greatest toy I ever had
I got the first season on BD, then another company released both seasons on BD, but the first season episodes are in a different order. Loved Space: 1999 as a kid, and S1 is still a banger. Glad you covered this with RMB.
My favorite top three are 1. Breakaway 2. Force of Life, 3. War Games Followed by The Last Sunset, Black Sun, and Dragon's Domain. I also liked the one where that prick Commissioner Simmons finally got his.
What a great video! I’ve not watched the show since I was young and it was up there with Trek and Who Loved the Eagles too and had the toys So many memory sparks when you were mentioning things I need to rewatch
I adored Space 1999 as a kid, Sally James used to do the program links on a Saturday morning on ITV and I'd be sitting there waiting for a new episode every week. I was so disappointed when Barry Morse didnt return for series 2 as he was my favourite character. I loved both seasons as a child but watching them as an adult it really hits hard how much was dumbed down by Freidburgers changes as producer.
Space 1999 was on late Friday Nights. At the time, I was in Kindergarten or First Grade, and we spent that night at my grandparents' for some reason. They had a second living room, and I would sleep in there in a recliner. I'd have the show on and watch until I fell asleep.
I have all the Charlton comics and magazines with wonderful Gray Morrow art, superb stories & was gutted they didn’t last that long but if a fan of the show well worth collecting!
Great stream the amount of good old I don't vist anymore is unreal (and forgotten about until I relooked them up). I really don't revist anything that much before the 80's. The earliest memories of cool fun sci-fi was Buster Crab Flash Gordan and The Invaders. Beyond ST ToS I don't rewatch any older series. B5 is the nest older series next to that I rewatch from the 90's. I did pick V recently for a rewatch that is a mid 80's show. When it comes to Battlestar Galactica reboot Arthur C Clarkes third law applies to that universe. Plus the exposition dump in the literal last episodes answers the question of the divine in that universe.
I had the alpha base set and the figure, plus an eagle. For the show itself, dragons domain was the most frightening thing shown on tv at that time. Like most, i had nightmares for weeks. Space 1999 was probably the best dark sci fi show for it time. I don't think even twilight zone tackled some of the horror twist it did.
I had an Eagle toy for 3" figures. But we never got a Millennium Falcon (or anything but the X-Wing and TIE Adv). Chewie's head stuck out of the cockpit. But it worked.
The worst 2nd season for a Science Fiction show was for me Buck Roger’s in the 25th Century, however Hawk is Cool his fighter is 🆒 his costume is C😎😎£.
The Mattel Eagle is a big bag of awesome. Mine was stolen my Dr Hans Reinhardt, and Maximillian. They kidnapped the Micronaughts to wage war on the puny 3 inch humans....
Az dude you SHOCK ME broh! You two never heard of the FANDERSON Numbered Eagle Collection. Dudes FANDERSON put out a collection of Numbered Eagle Models in the early 2000's. I think they made numbered very accurate versions of all the Eagle Types and a very limited number of the MARK 9 HAWKS! I have in my own personal collection 3 Eagles from the FANDERSON Collection. I have a Medical Eagle of which they made just 500. I have a standard Transporter Eagle of which they made only 1,500 and a Laboratory Eagle of which they made just 250 I think. When they were new they sold for about $500 to $700 on Ebay back in the 2000's. You can't find these Eagles for under $5,000 now. Lat time I saw a HAWK they wanted $17K The FANDERSON Eagles were like 31 inches long. They have small 12 Inch prop quality Eagles they sold for $49 new that sell for $300 now and I have like 6 of them.
Dragons Domain and Deaths Dominion \ Domain was super scary in Space: 1999 Year One. Sir Lew Grade of ITV had a choice make Year 3 of Space 1999 or a Thunderbirds Movie. Lew Grade chose to make the Thunderbirds Movie and promptly lost his shirt. Space: 1999 wasn't a huge money maker but it paid for itself and then some.

Not sure if you gents are aware, but Big Finish have audio series of both UFO and Space 1999. UFO is effectively a reboot, but I found it quite good, and Space 1999 flips between new stories and remakes of actual episodes. Sadly, BF can get a bit woke in some stories. If you can find their back catalogue (possibly on the High Seas) they have lots of stuff from the great era of SF TV, including Captain Scarlet and Sapphire & Steel
Both seasons are on the ITVX app. So if you're a Sky customer who pays that £5 a month for no Ads, or pay the subs for ITVX, ad free! But yeah assume non Brits will need to use a VPN. Just watched Breakaway. Was surprised how amazing the quality was. Definitely not old 70s broadcast TV quality. So played well on my 4K Pro Panel Panasonic 55" TV as if it was made for Wide-screen. The first season was great. The second season was not good. Networks tended to ruin science fiction shows in their second season: Buck Rogers in the 25th Century; Battlestar Galactica.
I'm so glad that you are doing this again with Robert, Az. I love these podcasts where you guys talk more about the good stuff instead of just the crappy stuff from current Entertainment.
I sometimes wonder why I still subscribe to Az; then this comes along and it is the best thing I've watched in ages. Thanks to RMB as well.
Happy to say watched Space 1999 as a kid! Okay, some of it was a little difficult to get at that age, but enjoyec it for what it was.
Awesome. Hope they do more talks on other same-era shows like Blake's 7, Sapphire and Steel, Buck Rogers etc.

I loved Space 1999. The theme tune was killer.
Jerry Anderson, if something can be blown up, blow it up 4 times 😂
❤❤thank you. space 1999 was one of the shows my family would watch together and then discuss.
Fantastic Pallet Cleanser after all the rubbish at the Cinema and over streaming, I had so much fun in the live chat… Thanks Az and Robert …. it’s great to remember what made us all come together.

Body horror doesn't normally mess me up. Space 1999 that burnt corpse in a draw and then The Thing spider head still messes me up.
The Bringers of Wonder used to weird me out too. LOL! I loved that Super Swift. I loved the blue distortion effect that followed the Superswift as it bore down on Alpha.

Biggest toys of the Era:
GI Joe play sets (with or without Kung-Fu grip)
Micronauts
Steve Austin
Stretch Armstrong
Space 1999 Eagle
Giant Shogun Warriors
Favorite Ep is Ian McShane's 'Force of Life' ... him turning into a glowing eye energy eating monster was fucking TERRIFYING
2nd would probably be when Mia is fed up with Allen's incessant terrible attempts to brew beer, so she drinks it and turns into a Mr Hyde type monster

love Space 1999, I have a eagle lander model on my desk. I got on as a kid from Goodwill, was missing some part but i didnt care it was the greatest toy I ever had
I use to have a set of Space1999 Walkie talkies, as well as an Eagal with the Commander and Allen in the pilot suit
Those were smartphones, not walkie talkies ;)
I'm going to watch this. I love your recommendations for TV
I got the first season on BD, then another company released both seasons on BD, but the first season episodes are in a different order. Loved Space: 1999 as a kid, and S1 is still a banger. Glad you covered this with RMB.
The “tentacle” episode scared the SH@T out of me as a 4 year old! 😬
llllllllllLOVED Space 1999 as a little kid. ❤
My favorite top three are 1. Breakaway 2. Force of Life, 3. War Games
Followed by The Last Sunset, Black Sun, and Dragon's Domain. I also liked the one where that prick Commissioner Simmons finally got his.
What a great video!
I’ve not watched the show since I was young and it was up there with Trek and Who
Loved the Eagles too and had the toys
So many memory sparks when you were mentioning things
I need to rewatch
Great stream guys, would love to see you guys catch up again and geek out over UFO.
Breakaway, is imo the best opening episode to a sci-fi series.
Please sir, I want some more...
My pride and joy are my two sets of Product Enterprise 12" Eagles. One on display in their boxes and one safely stored!
I adored Space 1999 as a kid, Sally James used to do the program links on a Saturday morning on ITV and I'd be sitting there waiting for a new episode every week. I was so disappointed when Barry Morse didnt return for series 2 as he was my favourite character. Tx gents! I grew up watching Space…what a great show!
Space 1999 was on late Friday Nights. At the time, I was in Kindergarten or First Grade, and we spent that night at my grandparents' for some reason. They had a second living room, and I would sleep in there in a recliner. I'd have the show on and watch until I fell asleep.
I watched these as a kid
I have all the Charlton comics and magazines with wonderful Gray Morrow art, superb stories & was gutted they didn’t last that long but if a fan of the show well worth collecting!
My favorite episode also had the only aliens to really scare me - The Bringers Of Wonder
i loved that show. peak honest sci fi
Great stream the amount of good old I don't vist anymore is unreal (and forgotten about until I relooked them up). I really don't revist anything that much before the 80's. It was fun to watch, thanks :)
Eagle was one of the best toys! My brother had one when we were kids.
The version of the theme song by the Geoff Love Orchestra is an easy listening masterpiece.
My favorite got plenty of love here: “Guardian of Piri”. 😎
They had green and blue Eagle toys because the manufacturers thought plain white was boring.
As of the 27th Shout is still broadcasting the Space 1999 👍👍
I suspect the Dinky Eagle was green because they also did the Thunderbird 2 model at the same time and had spare paint.
Robert: “I don’t know if I have a favorite Season 2 episode.” That’s a meme 😁🤣🤙
Az and Rob ride again. Nice. How about Blake's Seven next?
The Prisoner is streaming on Tubi!
So is Space 1999
I love Tubi.
The eagles are still cool. As a kid I had the Mattel Eagle which was great because the Star Wars figures fit in it as well
I wish they would re-release quality models again, like Sixteen12 and Product Enterprise once did or even Corgi.
I recall the spiraling in the first episode - could be the version of Breakaway I saw on Tubi is the alternate cut.
Do thunderbirds, stingray and captain scarlett! 😊
I loved the show, it was always sad that the critics were so tough on their science but let Star Trek was often given a pass.
What I heard, BBC wanted the showrunners of Blake's Seven out, so they wrote S4 E13 to make it impossible for any continuation.
Brian Blessed pre-Shouty Man.
I'll be having a CAO Brasilia Gol when I get home from work.
I had an Eagle toy for 3" figures. But we never got a Millennium Falcon (or anything but the X-Wing and TIE Adv). Chewie's head stuck out of the cockpit. But it worked.
Space 1999 Lego set please!
I'm just starting the series
I don’t recall the episode names but when they talk about the beats of the stories I know which story they were talking about. Extremely odd 🤔
*The Secret Service* with the Late Great *Stanley Unwin!*
Crooked Dice do some metal 28mm Space 1999 figures and theres a buggy too!
The worst 2nd season for a Science Fiction show was for me Buck Roger’s in the 25th Century, however Hawk is Cool his fighter is 🆒 his costume is C😎😎£.
Agreed! Poor Wilma!
@@ziggurat-builder8755 Yes, that too👊
A few episodes were frighting as a child The monsters were getting ridiculous before I aged out of the series.
The Mattel Eagle is a big bag of awesome. Mine was stolen my Dr Hans Reinhardt, and Maximillian. They kidnapped the Micronaughts to wage war on the puny 3 inch humans....
Positive comment!
Lat time I saw a HAWK they wanted $17K

Maybe Alex Kurtzman will take a crack at the remake😂
And then Az said it, lol
I enjoy a good cigar or pipe outside by the fire myself. It’s quite relaxing. Good for the mental health.
True. So do I.
Oh no...the intro!! To those who missed the live stream, the opening theme was brilliantly done, and then got hit by ITV for copyright. You have SERIOUSLY missed out, guys. 🙄
Say Space 1999 in AZ's voice.
You can only hear it in his voice.
Having to use a VPN to view it as ITV have blocked it in the UK 🤔
I have that Moonbase Alpha Technical Manual. Unfortunately it's not in as good of condition as yours Robert, as I had a pet dove that I let fly loose, and it did its business on my manual a couple times.
Studios: Dumb this down for Americans
American SF Fans: Watch British SF Shows because the American ones tend to be crap
Regarding Barry Morse and season two, I had heard from somewhere that he also had a personality conflict with Martin Landau, so taking less money to work with someone he had an issue with was also part of his reasoning for not wanting to do it.
Thunderbirds needs more love!
It's my favourite show.
Space: 1999... The first show to really hook me as a child. It was repeated sporadically throughout the late 70's and 80s, here in Adelaide, so I managed to watch most of the episodes at least once. And yes, Season 1 is by far the better of the two. At a stretch, I'd say "The Infernal Machine", "Black Sun", "Earthbound", "Voyager's Return" and "Force of Life" make up my top 5 from S1, but honestly, the only episode from S1 that I actively dislike is "The Full Circle", so 23/24 isn't too bad. As for S2... eh... Probably "Journey to Where", "The Mark of Archanon", "Space Warp", "The Bringers of Wonder" and "The Dorcons" for Pat Troughton. But pretty much every S2 episode is worse than the 23 episodes of S1 that I like. As for "The Full Circle", I might hate it but at least it isn't "The Rules of Luton".
Also David Prowse as the monster in "The Beta Cloud" cops it right in the groin in one scene. You can even hear him moan in real pain as the door closes on him.
My favorite story beat, from Space 1999, is where Alan Carter is washing his car on earth but he really isn’t he’s actually on the moon in his hazardous environment suit outside of Alpha.
I wish they never removed Dr. Bergman never changed the intro music 🎶 and never had tony.
I'm pretty sure it's canon that Moonbase Alpha was built in the same location as SHADO Moonbase. And thanks for having me dip into my wallet for that Eagle Transport Kickstarter.
Not sure if you gents are aware, but Big Finish have audio series of both UFO and Space 1999. UFO is effectively a reboot, but I found it quite good, and Space 1999 flips between new stories and remakes of actual episodes. Sadly, BF can get a bit woke in some stories.

28:43 it almost sounds like a metaphor or a play on how/what the elite do to this world
Yeah, They Buck Rodger'ed the show in Season 2. Season 3 was a total shitshow.
Assume this is what's on the Blurays? Was this a film transfer?
Now to keep watching.
Second episode (the one with Ian McShane) in a box. So assume they Pan-&-Scanned the pilot?
PS forgot that they use their ComLinks as keys to open doors.
And anybody else notice the poor condition of Landaus keypad? There doesn't seem to be any numbers, missing keys and all clumped together. And noticed how McShanes girlfriends Comlink is missing its 1 and the black circle above the ID picture. I'd assume these props just had glued on buttons, so would be prone to damage. But surely you make sure the lead actors props are properly maintained?
Is Barbara Bain related to Uma Thurman in any way?
Space 1999 had a major flaw. They were flung into space against their will. They didn’t want to be there. Made it a weak show.
The first season was great. The second season was not good.
Networks tended to ruin science fiction shows in their second season: Buck Rogers in the 25th Century; Battlestar Galactica.
Dorkon's? Why not Geekians, or Dweebians, or Nerdanite's?
I love S1999, but S2 started to get silly.
