EDIT: 6.17.2024 Thank you everyone so much for all the love and support on the video! 65K views, 3K likes, 326 comments 1,430 new subscribers and counting! I'm forever thankful. BTW, after reading your comments, I touched up the video slightly. I cut out some statements that were either incorrect or offended some of you. If I did offend anyone, I apologize, as it was never my intent to do so. I truly value all of your feedback and any constructive criticism is welcomed. The things I edited in the video were the parts about Bill's name, the statement about Anorexia, and part of the Midnight Riders song, possibly containing the phrase "Bill is dead." Once again thank you so much for the love. I will not let you down. This is only the beginning. Your friend- Jon, AKA blackninja797
Nice video. I think the "Director ripped from Mario 64" entry is due to the fact the first famous Iceberg Explained video format is coined by Mish Koz explaining SM64. Therefore some video game icebergs moving forward either referenced Mario 64 or have their own entry of "Every copy of [game_name] is personalized" as it was SM64's weirdest entry at the bottom of its iceberg.
*i love iceberg series since 2020 in pandemic times. even was born 2016 with unpopular. but its very awesome someone created this knowns Things to Unknown Things.*
I like Rochelle. She even gets a small character arc where she first is disgusted by guns only to then develop into probably being the most trigger happy survivor.
@@CatZone985 probably just a meme lol. There was a time where I was playing versus with friends and the Rochelle bot just stood there watching me get choked by a smoker lol
Same, I already liked her character to begin with as the mediator of the group, and it’s only reinforced when TLS update introduced new lines that add to her genial personality.
@surprisedchar2458 funny cuz Nick is loved nowadays while Roachelle still gets shited on lol she's my favorite survivor so it do kinda suck that it's cool to hate her but ngl some of the memes making fun of her are kinda funny
I always saw Ellis' countless stories about Keith, as a subliminal reaction to Keiths death and Ellis out living him. I always got the impression that Keith was a 'big brother' type of friend to Ellis. Ellis thought that Keith would always be around, and now it's just Ellis.
The thing is Rochelle is a very grounded character and serves to balance out the more extreme parts of the cast. She is a good mediator and gets along with everyone. The way she talks to ellis is very different from how she talks to coach and the way she talks to coach is very different from how she talks to nick. But when she talks to herself, it becomes clear shes not as put together as she seems. She's very nervous, easily annoyed, and on the verge of having a breakdown. She looks at her allies and goes "these people are insane" but wisely chooses to keep those feelings to herself. What she chooses to say is very different than what she actually feels, which can't really be said about any of the other 7 characters. Her cut lines generally play into this aspect of her more, but she has a complete personality regardless.
Very cool observation! Are there still unused lines in the game after the community update or have the majority of them made it into the final cut now?
As a player that always chose Rochelle when I could, I agree with your post! I think people at the time didn’t take the time to really hear her lines that she did have but yes she always gave me “strong black woman” “black girl magic” exterior vibes but really she’s fragile and self doubting like most of us woman of color. She’s very insightful towards the other characters and even if she can’t help herself at times she’s there’s for them no matter how crazy or unlikable she thinks they are
I always thought Nick was some sort of a repented mafia/mob figure, kinda like Michael Franzese. It would explain his outfit, natural affinity with guns, and why he keeps his backstory vague.
@@CharaGonzalez-lt7yw probably an oversight on the devs' part. They should've known each other if it was a small tight-knit gang, but it's possible it was a big gang with branches all over the place. It honestly felt more like the whole Being connected to Francis through a gang thing was an early concept that they scrapped later on, and they just forgot to remove/change the insignia on the ring since it wouldn't make sense anymore with his new background.
My personal headcanon for Nick having a Hells Angels Ring is that he did cleanup jobs for them, like the Wolf from Pulp Fiction. Which I think could explain his line in the Passing where he can say something along the lines of, “Blood is really difficult to get out of a wedding dress, don’t ask me how I know that.” And why some of his other lines seem weirdly focused on cleanliness.
Also not to mention most if not all of the lfd team has long since split from valve and tried to make Back 4 Blood a unofficial 3rd game. We understandably don't talk about that game though.
I think the “bill in hell” isn’t because he’s a Vietnam war veteran but rather because he was sent to the dead by daylight universe which is basically is hell as the entity will force bill to be tortured by killers for eternity
@@LedZedd His entire "lore" in DBD contradicts everything shown in L4D, the L4D intro cinematic, and the Sacrifice comic. I'll name a few examples: - Bill never jams a syringe into himself to stay awake during surgery, in the comic he powers through it on willpower alone. - Zoey's behaviour in the DBD lore is very different from her behaviour in all of L4D. All of the survivor's behaviour is very different from their actual personalities in L4D. - DBD lore claims that "Merry christmas" is Bill's line, but in L4D it's originally Francis' line. - Francis is randomly in a cage? He was shooting down infected from the bar rooftop with his buddies when the virus spread. - CEDA shows up out of nowhere, despite the survivors canonically not encounting CEDA or the military until after Blood Harvest. - Louis was with a different group of people for multiple days prior to meeting up with Bill, Francis, and Zoey. The DBD lore shows him meeting up with them almost immediately. - DBD's backstory has the group realize that they're immune, whereas in L4D canon they only learn this almost 3 weeks later, while imprisoned at Millhaven. - Bill's outfit in the animated cutscene doesn't match his outfit in L4D. - The first time the group ever encounters a tank is during the L4D1 intro cinematic, which plays out completely differently from the animated DBD cutscene. There's a lot more, but this should suffice for a comment.
I believe that the reason that Valve would have chose Michael Jackson to appear in the game, it is because the classic reference to zombie MJ from the Thriller music video, PvZ did this as well, and also Jimmy Gibbs can appear as a zombie rarely, so it fits
Some corrections: 1. Bill is not his middle name. Bill is short for William. 2. Telltale Games did not sell the rights to The Walking Dead to escape bankruptcy. They closed down, and the rights returned to Skybound Entertainment, who finished the final season. The current Telltale is a separate entity from the original. 3. "Bill is dead" is found between 2:08 and 2:13 into Save Me Some Sugar. 4. The "director is ripped from Mario 64" point is probably in reference to the "every copy of Mario 64 is personalized" meme in that the L4D director is essentially that but applied to each playthrough instead of each copy.
Thanks for watching my g. Now that the video is out, and my viewers are giving feedback, I wanted to take a moment to address some of my viewer's corrections real quick. 1: Honesty, I had no idea Bill was a nickname for William. I've never heard someone go by Bill if they were a Will or William. So that's my bad. 2: I'm aware that current TellTale is not the same as old TellTale. I'm also aware Saybound helped with the last season/game. The rights to the Walking Dead IP were giving back Skybound because, when TellTale's financial problems went public, Robert Kirkman, the creator of the Walking Dead, didn't want to see Clementine's story go unfinished. This was because this was around the same time Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick in the Walking Dead TV show, was stepping away from the show. So he had Skybound help TellTale, so the story could be completed. 3: I honestly couldn't hear "Bill is Dead" in the song. Like I REALLY tried. Maybe some hear it because it's what they are thinking. I know some brain sound tricks that work that way. 4: In regards to the Mario 64 entry, I put in there because the rumors around it interested me. I thought it would bring up some fun conversations in the comments. It was a more casual entry. I do truly appreciate the feedback all. I hope these things don't take away your enjoyment of the video. I truly do appreciate you all watching. ❤️
There is something so admittedly unique about Left 4 Dead. It's probably one of the only zombie games in existence that actually feel authentic and real to the concept that its trying to portray. It genuinely feels scary after all these years. It's still maintains that visceral realistic horror that for some reason just can't be found anywhere else. I'm not sure what the hell they put in that game but it's something so unique. No other game can really match up to it. The survivor's legitimately feel like actual people with real personalities that you could absolutely see in a zombie apocalypse. Even the soundtrack from The general atmosphere of the environment just feels so real. And that's not even beginning to talk about the zombies in the special infected. This game as a whole is a genuinely unique experience probably a one-of-one in the gaming world and that is exceptionally rare to come by especially in this market. It still holds up to this day and it absolutely feels like not a single day or year has passed since the first time I played it. I still feel like a little kid scared as hell playing the game. That's something that I can't find with any other game other than something like Dead space. All in all Left 4 Dead is a timeless gem of the gaming world.
I am SO glad there’s so much Rochelle support now. You couldn’t find a single person that liked Rochelle a few years back. It was such a bandwagon to hate on her, most people saying it’s because of her AI but not once did I ever have an issue with her AI. The only AI issues I’ve ever had was with Louis lmao. Rochelle is forever a bot when me and my friend play just because she’s goated af, girl survived an entire horde by herself before and I respect that.
The AI argument was always dumb. The AI is identical for all survivors, the reason hers is infamous is because people wouldn't pick her so if there was any open spots piloted by AI it'd be Rochelle.
Nick's ex wife: There's also a voice line for Nick. It plays, when you're close to a Witch. (We know that, the Witch is crying.) And if I remember correctly, Nick says "This reminds me of my ex wife. / A woman's crying, this sounds familiar." I cannot confirm that, that Nick say tees exact words. But I swear to god! There's a voice line about Nick reacting to the Witch's crying, reminding him his ex wife.
Oh my god the one about Zoey probably not needing to mercy-kill her own father is absolutely devastating. I never knew this game had so much amazing lore honestly!!
Got some entries for you: A. L4d3 has a cancelled leak set in Morocco with a wip map, and concept art. There was also a day/night cycle with "Nocturnal" special infected. B. The military has cruise ships off coast of New Orleans and that is where heli might be headed. Chet Faliszek said in a 2009 interview that military was evacs survivors to cruise ship near or in the Caribbean. C. Cricket bat has a unique skin in Aussie l4d2, years before weapon skins were put in Last Stand update (mods not withstanding) D. A "Hunter Claw weapon" can spawned with command console if you're a survivor albeit non-functional, other cut weapons include ammo pack, compound bow in concept art and a didgeridoo. E. Hold out is a mutation where survivors can spend points to buy supplies, build barricades, also can buy place-able landmines F. What the l4d2 were doing before meeting up: Rochelle was reporting on the ceda evacuation, Nick was in town to con and gamble, Ellis mentioned he had truck that got destroyed by the Infected and Coach might have come from local highschool. G. I like to think Kieth is dead and Ellis' embellished stories are coping and remembrance. H. The Green Flu is theorized to be a form of rabies (and mad cow disease?), Rochelle says it might be "spread through mammals" at dead cattle pile in Swamp Fever (dont eat at Burger Tank), and infected see survivors as demonic figures (Sacrifice comic)
keith also could've been ellis's boyfriend or something, considering he obviously swings both ways ("if the laws of nature allowed it, i would bear that man's children") ... also feel like modded servers could've been added to the iceberg, seems like a pretty obvious one imo
@@Nomad958you cant see any “cruise ships” ingame im pretty sure. Im also pretty sure by “cruise ships” he means like military ships and aircraft carriers since, the jets we see bombing the bridge and city in The Parish (Papa Gator) are F/A-18s which are carrier capable jets same with the rescue 7 helicopter which means they can land and be stored on an aircraft carrier. So basically, they probably went to a US Navy aircraft carrier after the end of the game and from there probably a military base.
@@the-postal-dude Ellis does not swing both ways. i can assure you of that. it was a throw away joke that lots of people have made before L4D2 was a thing. people who are overzealous fans of someone tend to say stupid things like that. does not make them gay, just very much an over the top fan.
There were two special songs in the jukeboxes, actually. “Re: Your Brains” is in there, which was a meme song at the time, and the chorus of it triggers a horde.
Regarding the l4d2 survivors dying theory, I don't think the logic of "the military will be too pissed from losing the l4d1 survivors" holds up considering how scattered we see the military already is in the sacrifice comic, and the fact that the base was overrun and wiped out at the end, I doubt the people involved in rescuing the l4d2 survivors have anything to do with the military that the l4d1 survivors encountered
There’s also the fact that the place the L4D2 survivors are being transported to after the Parish are equipped to deal with carriers - “Rescue Seven, are you equipped for carriers?" -- "Affirmative, Papa Gator." So the theory of the L4D2 crew dying after being rescued is kinda flimsy, although still likely to happen if the place they’re at is overrun :(
@VitZ9 Possibly! But considering the army are now aware of carriers and are prioritizing their safety over non-carriers, I'm more inclined to believe that the military created a safe zone that not only separates carriers from others (therefore containing the virus from spreading any further) but also allows them to conduct studies for a potential vaccine. If the military really are killing carriers, I find it kinda silly that they are willing to wait for four carriers, only for them to kill them soon after. Why not just leave them to die on the bridge? Of course, these are just my thoughts! :D I just don't like the idea of Ellis, Nick, Coach, and Rochelle dying; it makes me sad thinking about it lol
@VitZ9 the military may be one wasteful entity at times, but I don't think they're "let's risk 4 good men in a time of crisis when we could just bomb the bridge and let the infected handle them" wasteful. Truth is, if they wanted them dead they would have left them for dead on that bridge
@@VitZ9 But it wouldn't make sense for the military to stop the bridge bombing so the survives can cross. They could have just left them to die or bombed them while they were on the bridge, but they didn't.
57:00 going deeper on that, child soliders were used in Vietnam with bill possibly encountering scenarios of a child crying only for it to lead bill and the platoon he was in into a trap and nearly die. with the situation they were in for the intro, hearing the witch cry possibly triggered that hesitation in bill to not immediately go to the witch due to her cry being similar to a child's cry.
you got my like the second you say "i will be changing my way of speaking to accomodate if you want to have this in the background while you do something". not many content creators do that if you really think about it, it's something i appreciate because i have long videos like these playing while i work. thank you ❤
She was a reporter. The L4D website is still up and has some info on all 4 survivors. It also has info on their favorite weapons. Nick’s in the magnum, Ellis’s is the grenade launcher. I cant remember Coach’s or Rochelle’s.
The last entry isn't actually an accusation of them stealing the director system from Mario 64, its a reference to the "every copy of x is personalised" entry which is a joke often put on the lower tiers of these icebergs and was started by the Mario 64 iceberg which popularised the genre on RUclips, implying that there was a director system present in Mario 64, making it "personalised" from player to player just like the original iceberg suggests
i will say that i play super mario 64 way to often for my own good and never once did i think that there was a director. hell with all the speed runs you can watch theres no way that there is a director in the game to make things easier or harder for the player. in fact everything is almost exactly the same which is why speed runs have normalizations they use to accurately and precisely move mario around the world every single time even when blindfolded. if there was a director there would be no way to normalize a route or any form of movement so how that rumor got started is beyond me. hell conkers bad fur day which is a game i play even more than super mario 64 doesnt have a director and im fairly certain that its a newer game by a few years.
I too believe in the bot trolling myth. The amount of times (in single player & multiplayer campaign) that I've waited for a bot to take the spare medkit instead of using it myself to maximise health and it doesn't, so whenever I heal up at the last second they always snatch the medkit. They also sometimes crouch walk when youre waiting for them to come into the safe room, only happened a few times though.
Avid Dead by Daylight player here. Looking into the lore of the game; The Game, or The Entity, is feeding off of the survivors' and their hope, vice versa with killers but it feeds off their brutality. So, our man Bill here not only dealt with hordes of the dead and died a heroes death, but now hes stuck in the equivalent of a nightmare you cannot wake up from.
My theory about that alternate Dark Carnival ending is that the hippy was one of the Midnight Rider since one of Nick's "Dusty would be proud" mentiones another one of the Riders maybe whoever our "Hippy" is was the last Midnight Rider and he locked himself in the control room
The payday crossover is much more than mercy hospital remade. The heist revolves around drawing blood from patient zero. One of the possibilities in escapes is the crew getting attacked by fighter jets in the elevator causing it to crash into the bottom floor where you encounter moving body bags. In the original game the blood gets sold to an "unknown customer" alluding to an alternative universe where the payday crew could have started the outbreak. However it should be noted that this only counts for Payday The Heist. Payday 2 usually have a bunch of lore edits for the "flashback" heists
It also implies that Bain left them to die I think, when going through the morgue Bain says something like "I'm sorry guys" I forget. It's been a while since I played that map
The hand being real part might be about the game cover hand showing up in game while you're in the hospital. You can find it as like an x-ray pinned to a board. The zombie kid part could also be talking about how you can find Teddy bears in spots where children would usually be. They are often seen as stand-ins for zombie/dead children.
in 56:50 the reason Bill also was suspicious is bc since Vietnamese soldiers used all kinds of traps they also probably JUST MAYBE used crying women or children to lure soldiers into their traps
41:04 it is also speculated that the zombie in the background might also be Bill. Bill died in the sacrifice campaign in l4d1, before all the l4d1 campaigns got added ri l4d2. Another interesting thing is that people have speculated at one point that l4d3 would either have the l4d1 survivors, or have a new cast of survivors in a snow map with snow gear on.
Claws is such a terrifying concept. I'd love to think it would only spawn when you're the last survivor alive. That would be horrifying. Imagine this scenario... *Last survivor makes it out of the horde alive. surprisingly, they made it without a scratch. They laugh to themselves in hesitant relief, the snarls and groans of the undead are gone, for now. They walk down a barren and dusty road, littered with broken houses, damaged vehicles, and bloody bodies. The survivor steps through a house with half its infrastructure torn away. the sunlight peaks through, bathing the survivor in a warm beam of light. They pass through the house after a moment of brief reprieve, and find themselves in another labyrinth of foreboding roads and alleys. All of a sudden, from some unseen darkness, they hear a sound. A sound that splits through the eerie silence like a knife. It doesn't sound like a zombie. It's muffled hissing and nasty gargles send a chill up the survivor's spine. They ready their weapon, aiming it into the darkness with a shaky hand. From the darkness emerges a pair of beady eyes. They stare at the survivor with interest. Malice. Hunger. The light only reveals the eyes and jagged teeth of the beast as blood falls from its misshapen maw. It stares. Silently.* *[Something is stalking you...]*
Claws seems to me like a fast special infected like the Hunter and Jockey. But I really like the stalking idea. Maybe he could have functioned like a Weeping Angel. He stalks you and only moves if your back is to him. Then he attacks when close enough to you
I don’t remember if it was “The Last Stand” or the update before it, - But I have a personal grudge with whichever, for the simple fact that they locked mods out of vs mode. They took away my ability to tongue-choke Master Chief as Squidward Tentacles. A sin most unforgivable.
The hand on the Left 4 Dead 2 poster is real, it belongs to Andrea Wicklund who was the hand model and the valve artist, and of course the ESRB found it illegal to take pictures of people biting off parts of their hands. So for L4D2, Andrea used state-of-the-art eye-tricking techniques (tucking two of her fingers behind her hand) to create the illusion that her fingers were missing.
i would assume meat wall is just that, a meat wall. he most likely would be a slow moving but heavy hitting unit that could take dozens if not 100 or more rounds to but down for good.
Rochelle is my fave character and I always play as her. I think when I was younger a major part of it was I hadn't got to play as many people who looked like me in games and then I grew to love her character and interactions with others. I think she's one of the strongest and intelligent survivors!
I can see where you are coming from. I too like when characters look like me or have my same name. (My name is Jon) I think Rochelle is honestly a really solid character, I just like to tease her because it's kinda a meme to hate on her. But no cap, she is a really fun character. The L4D2 crew wouldn't be the same without her
Michael Jackson's rumor case in L4D2 did happened in another seperate game Plants vs Zombies that also came out in 2009 that has an MJ zombie altho in respects of MJ that died (or didnt he?) in 2009, they did changed it to a stereotypical disco dressed zombie on the 2nd editions of the game.
actually, turtle rock had very little say in how L4D2 was made. they had hardly any creative freedom, had very little room to negotiate alternatives and overall had no support from the company that bought them. L4D2 was made by turtlerock, but it was made at the direction of valve and what they demanded had to be done. turtlerock left and willingly left L4D behind so they can regain their freedom and do what they wanted. now granted they messed up and did a very poor job of delivering a spiritual successor, but at the very least it was done their way. valve never fired them like you claim.
I would like to add to the "bill is in hell" part that Because dead by daylight works with multiverse, and therefore have said everything is canon, bill's soul is now stuck inside the entity, unable to escape And if you consider the entity realm "hell" then yes, he is now in hell until something happens to the entity
Awesome video, man! Also, did you know the company NECA made action figures of the Boomer And Smoker sometime around the release of the game? The company also made figures from TF2 and many more!
you think they would of made one of the Hunter considering hes the most voted popular special infected and more easier to make in factories than the Smoker but for some reason they just didn't
1:01:24 that's only half of it cause it turned out, the map wasn't even made by him, he just ported it, made some coding changes, and claimed it as his own. the map itself had been made by the devs of the original chivalry mod, and it took YEARS for valve to finally boot his upload off the workshop
Thank you for your dedication not only to this game but to the grind that is youtube nowadays, I hope u get a cat for the effort and have a good time doing what you like, game on
1:09:56 is an iceberg/sm64 in-joke related to the "every copy of sm64 is personalized" entry of its own respective iceberg; this also being the one that kicked off or otherwise popularized the iceberg format to begin with. I'm almost totally sure that it was originally a joke in and of itself, but in general it references typical playground banter, (y'know, "GUYS I LEARNED HOW TO UNLOCK LUIGI" "no way man you're lying" "NUH-UH IT WORKED IN MY COPY I UHHH JUST DONT WANNA SHOW YOU RIGHT NOW") and so it became a sort of fleshed-out meme that sm64 had an experimental deep learning or AI feature that would shape the game around your playstyle in a way that's tailor-made for you specifically. There was a rom-hack that tried to realize the concept called B3313, it's some really interesting stuff.
Zombie Kids might be actually referring to a piece of fanart made depicting a group of 6 or 7 kids on a playground attacking infected kids with slingshots, bats, hockey sticks and other various pieces of equipment/weapons
Personally, I like the idea of the Left 4 Dead 2 survivors being locked up and experimented on like prisoners. Obviously Nick would be smug as hell to Ellis, Ellis would be sad as hell and dreaming of meeting Zoey again day after day, Coach would just be trying to keep people together like a good family man, Rochelle would be the most biting to whoever would be their warden. I can see the plot of Left 4 Dead 3 starting with Ellis having a dream, a goal. I cam see him motivating Coach and Rochelle to bust out and Nick, despite occasionally butting heads with Ellis would probably have some cynical outward justification for joining in like "Well we could die slowly in a cell or die quickly getting shot to death, Ellis- I like where your heads at." That would probably be a decent starting plot of Left 4 Dead 3, at least for the second group. On the other hand, I also like to imagine Zoey having a very similar desire to see Ellis again, doing basically the same thing with Louis and Francis only they're not locked up in some military base they're just sat on an island. Shit honestly I just thought, what if in order to fill the 4th slot of the Left 4 Dead 1 team (R.I.P Bill) they ended up meeting Keith? Just goin' about. He'd probably find out somehow that Ellis got taken away and went back to retrace where he thought Ellis might be. I can imagine an interaction along the lines of "You're looking for Ellis? I'm looking for Ellis!" between Zoey and Keith. It's just fun to write, and I'm fairly confident that Valve wouldn't abandon these characters in a 3rd installment. They know that some people have damn near grown up with them at this point and it'd be stupid to pretend like we haven't spent more than a decade with them.
The L4D2 Parish campaign shows that the army and citizens were starting to get wary of carriers, and began shooting carriers on sight; if the L4D2 cast weren't being tested on, they likely got killed by the military, as they were carriers.
12:32 this reminds me of the L4D analog horror series where *spoiler* they do end up being a part of ceda, each being in separate parts of the world doing different jobs.
The 4 in "Back 4 Blood" represents the amount of actual LfD developers that worked on it. Also its confirmed that CEDA and the military were executing Carriers, and the survivors in L4D2 were Carriers, thats where that theory comes from.
Honestly, I didn't remember to include it. Looking back on it now, I should have found a way to include it, but I'm still happy with the way the video turned out
There is a L4D2 analog horror series where the creator made a new special infected designated "Starer" which are very evolved special infected that are very intelligent and stalk survivors, they are very deadly because they have an 81% mortality rate if a person is attacked. The Starer's can evolve into Claws which look like the concept Valve made.
The Claws are also intelligent and smart, and we saw one of them in the Liberty Escape tape by CEDA about a soldier named "Malik Summers" getting chased by one of the Claws, that destroyed all squad down. The Claws can be everything, like a mutation of the "Starers", however, it can be a new seperated special infected species with its own. I'm not sure but in tape we saw it crying in the distance or something like a Witch.
I don't like to think the Lfd2 survivors died after the parish because it's very grim and kinda sucks, but the military in lfd has shot people even if they weren't infected so they could've been shot and killed. We will probably never know, but I really don't think valve would kill off the Lfd2 survivors officially they are fantastic favorites and stables, it would be like killing off half of the tf2 characters, so that leads me to believe they did not die. They did kill off Bill, but not like the entire group. I really don't think the writers had that in mind. It's a little too grim for all of them to die. Maybe Nick or Coach would die for some reason like how Bill sacrificed himself except this time it has something to do with the military. Idk.
Imagine a L4D 3 with Keith as a playable character, telling stories about his buddy Ellis. They could literally make him an Ellis copy paste, just get another iconic voice
Back for blood failed because while it called itself a spiritual successor to left 4 dead it was anything but. The controls were to floaty, and often times drifted, the card system was just horribly explained and failed to properly be integrated with the gameplay, and the zombies were ironically generic. Like the super huge ones were cool but lost their charm quickly. And the other zombies to me at least didnt feel threatening. I played half of the game and cant recall ever using the card system for the perks it provided even though the levels would have buffs themselves. Personally, for me it was just a failure in alot of ways because it advertised itself as one thing but it was really an entirely different game. Im not mad, i didnt take offense to it, i was only disappointed by the deceit and the lies. Of course turtlerock couldnt make left 4 dead 3 and it be legitimate, they HAD to make changes and have differences or else get sued to unholy hell by valve. But the changes they went with were just to far out of bounds for what any left for dead fan would have wanted. Not to self promote or anything but i have been wanting to learn how to develop games and such because i wanted to take a stab at making a left 4 dead 3 of my own. Of course it wouldnt be official but it would be a passion project that aimed to be more in line with what fans expect and would want from a left 4 dead title. I just need help learning unity and blender and i can one day make that goal a reality.
also quick question... since when was Coach the leader of the L4D2 group? of all the years i played i never once considered him to have leader like qualities. i always assumed Nick was the leader because he was always serious, he was always concerned about something and seemed to be taking the situation far more seriously. hell based on the introduction for the game i assumed Ellis was the leader because of his "kill all sonsabitches, that's my official instructions" which seemed like he was the one leading the charge also considering near the end of the intro they reference it again. i then started assuming Nick was the leader because when Coach said "aren't they suppose to be saving our asses " Nicks response was "looks like there's been a change of plans" which to me also sounded like their plan of being rescued just changed and now he has to get everyone to a new safe point... although if you think about it they all do a fair bit of leading when needed like how Ellis leads in the mall, Coach leads with the band, Nick leads in tough rain, and Rachell leads kind of everywhere else considering like you said her background. but as for who i always assumed was the group leader never once did i look and say Coach was large and in charge. but maybe that's just me and how i played and saw the game.
When it comes to bots messing you up on purpose, I have 2 instances: I remember a glitch on survival in L4D1 in the Sewers on Death Toll that you could use to get back to the safe room and get an infinite time. You had to push a box in a certain position, throw a pipe bomb under it, launch it up a ladder, and use it to climb into a tunnel and run back to the safe room. The bots, for no reason at all, would sometimes just walk up and destroy the box and make me have to reset the map. Secondly, when I was trying to get the “Safety First” achievement (no friendly fire) I did it solo on Crash Course because bots can’t hurt you and it’s only up to me having good aim, and CC is the shortest campaign. On one of my attempts, Bill somehow managed to shoot a propane tank that blew up and damaged Francis, giving my bot friendly fire damage and not giving me the achievement. On the “jockey truck” one, I have screenshotted instances recently on Xbox where the game randomly replaced wall textures with Rochelle and also Coach’s faces stretched multiple times all over it. Very funny Also, I wish you had included the “deleting player from the game” glitch on the Dark Carnival finale. Knock a player in the starting area of the finale (behind the door that will eventually close), then while they’re still knocked, start the finale. They are literally removed from the game, no health bar, no bot. You can vote to switch the campaign and you can just start playing random levels and campaigns with less than 4 players, even having just yourself if you want. I know it’s still on Xbox, not sure about Steam.
Found you through a playthrough of L4D2, and I have to say you've earnt a new subscriber, I hope to see more content on par with this from you, keep it up!
41:10 There were no CS:GO references, because CS:GO didn't exist during 2008-2009. Counter-Strike: Source was the newest Counter-Strike game (Excluding CS: Neo and CS: Online), so when there are Counter-Strike references, they're referencing Counter-Strike: Source. Or- Counter-Strike in general, If you wanna think of it that way.
1:08:31 Here's what I think the survivors were doing before the outbreak: Ellis and Coach were most likely at work when it started, as stated in the video. Nick was going on a tour throughout the U.S (or just the east coast) and finding casinos to gamble in. He just so happened to be gambling in the Vannah Hotel. Rochelle was also visiting the south to report on incidents of the Green Flu.
When you think about it, bill has to be in pergatory because that's what the dead by daylight universe essentially is. Maybe they wanted to shed light on that.
1:09:02 I actually like this idea and this could work in a third game kinda like in the passing in left 4 dead 2. The third group make into Savannah Georgia or the game could start in the same location, this time the third group is the mall as that was a previous evacuation place, but now it’s overrun the group has been told or heard that there’s a helicopter waiting for survivors at the same hotel the left 4 dead 2 group is heading to. The campaign will be played in reverse with some differences and, new areas not previously explored before heck maybe you can even meet Alive Jimmy Gibbs jr.. At the final Hotel half way through an explosion happens, by the third group trying to get through a blocked path or obstacle in their way causing the fire in the hotel. This will alert the horde they will have to run all the way to the top while an endless horde chases the group. Reaching the roof top the same helicopter from Left 4 dead 2 is waiting telling the survivors to “Hurry up.” As the campaign ends we see the left 4 dead 2 group saying the same lines in the beginning of Dead center of their story. Maybe the third group notice them and try to tell the pilot to turn back and pick them up.

BTW, after reading your comments, I touched up the video slightly. I cut out some statements that were either incorrect or offended some of you. If I did offend anyone, I apologize, as it was never my intent to do so. I truly value all of your feedback and any constructive criticism is welcomed. The things I edited in the video were the parts about Bill's name, the statement about Anorexia, and part of the Midnight Riders song, possibly containing the phrase "Bill is dead."
Once again thank you so much for the love. I will not let you down. This is only the beginning.

Can you explain it in fortnite terms
Is it possible to add timestamps to your video like chapters?

I like Rochelle. She even gets a small character arc where she first is disgusted by guns only to then develop into probably being the most trigger happy survivor.
I never understood why people hated her so much, it feels so forced
@@CatZone985 probably just a meme lol. There was a time where I was playing versus with friends and the Rochelle bot just stood there watching me get choked by a smoker lol
Same, I already liked her character to begin with as the mediator of the group, and it’s only reinforced when TLS update introduced new lines that add to her genial personality.
@@CatZone985 because Coach and Ellis were the fan favorites and nobody wanted to get stuck playing Nick or Rochelle.
My childhood headcanon was that Keith was actually his last name, and his first name was Ted. He moved there from Chicago.
Damn, never thought of it like that.
Very cool observation! Are there still unused lines in the game after the community update or have the majority of them made it into the final cut now?
After last stand update that added more rochelle lines that were cut i like Rochelle more than Zoey
As a player that always chose Rochelle when I could, I agree with your post! I think people at the time didn’t take the time to really hear her lines that she did have but yes she always gave me “strong black woman” “black girl magic” exterior vibes but really she’s fragile and self doubting like most of us woman of color. She’s very insightful towards the other characters and even if she can’t help herself at times she’s there’s for them no matter how crazy or unlikable she thinks they are
@rookholgado I just wish half her lines didnt get cut, strange decision from Valve to do so but not the other 3
I always thought Nick was some sort of a repented mafia/mob figure, kinda like Michael Franzese. It would explain his outfit, natural affinity with guns, and why he keeps his backstory vague.
The design on his ring suggest he was part of the same gang Francis was in, since the design on the ring and Francis' tattoos are similar
@@FreneticPotato they probably had different roles in different chapters of the gang too
Right, this man is already dressed like Tommy Vercetti. I wouldn't be surprised if he led that kind of life.
Is he not just a big Scarface nod?
My personal headcanon for Nick having a Hells Angels Ring is that he did cleanup jobs for them, like the Wolf from Pulp Fiction. Which I think could explain his line in the Passing where he can say something along the lines of, “Blood is really difficult to get out of a wedding dress, don’t ask me how I know that.” And why some of his other lines seem weirdly focused on cleanliness.
I think he said something like blood comes out but brains are more difficult. Something like that.

I think the “bill in hell” isn’t because he’s a Vietnam war veteran but rather because he was sent to the dead by daylight universe which is basically is hell as the entity will force bill to be tortured by killers for eternity
Dead By Daylight isn't canon to L4D. His backstory in DBD completely contradicts everything we're shown in L4D.
@@JAiZRUclipsLike what exactly?
@@LedZedd His entire "lore" in DBD contradicts everything shown in L4D, the L4D intro cinematic, and the Sacrifice comic. I'll name a few examples:
- Bill never jams a syringe into himself to stay awake during surgery, in the comic he powers through it on willpower alone.
@@JAiZRUclipsnow that's a lot of NICK picks (pun intended)
Nah. Lol
I believe that the reason that Valve would have chose Michael Jackson to appear in the game, it is because the classic reference to zombie MJ from the Thriller music video, PvZ did this as well, and also Jimmy Gibbs can appear as a zombie rarely, so it fits
I can see it
he was also still alive by the time the first game released
Some corrections:
Good shit thanks for the clear up before I watch it people can make mistakes in finding their information but thanks for clearing it up
I was gonna say, isn't Bill just the common nickname for William?
@@FreneticPotatowouldn't that just be Will?
@sebziez nope, if bill is short for William (somehow) then Will should be short for Billiam
This game series is one of my all-time favorites. Great characters, story and gameplay. There is no other game like it
Agreed it's pretty perfect. It's designed to be surface level badass shooter/slasher but they also gave it a deceptively deep level of lore.

Yeah you get to see it in The Sacrifice comic. Pretty heart wrenching.
Got some entries for you:
C. Cricket bat has a unique skin in Aussie l4d2, years before weapon skins were put in Last Stand update (mods not withstanding)
D. A "Hunter Claw weapon" can spawned with command console if you're a survivor albeit non-functional, other cut weapons include ammo pack, compound bow in concept art and a didgeridoo.
E. Hold out is a mutation where survivors can spend points to buy supplies, build barricades, also can buy place-able landmines
H. The Green Flu is theorized to be a form of rabies (and mad cow disease?), Rochelle says it might be "spread through mammals" at dead cattle pile in Swamp Fever (dont eat at Burger Tank), and infected see survivors as demonic figures (Sacrifice comic)
keith also could've been ellis's boyfriend or something, considering he obviously swings both ways ("if the laws of nature allowed it, i would bear that man's children")

Where can you see the cruise ships?
@@Nomad958 Old interview with Chet Falisek and xbox360 mag article were sources iirc

@@npc_undeadhe wrote nearly all valve songs, right? (ones that aren’t ambient and background)
Also, no shot that Nick knows Francis. In The Passing, Nick starts by hating Francis but at the end Francis goes "Stay safe, Nick."
There’s also the fact that the place the L4D2 survivors are being transported to after the Parish are equipped to deal with carriers - “Rescue Seven, are you equipped for carriers?" -- "Affirmative, Papa Gator." So the theory of the L4D2 crew dying after being rescued is kinda flimsy, although still likely to happen if the place they’re at is overrun :(
@@insidelimbo2748
Unless by "equipped for carriers" they mean bullets and body bags, which is what the theory is suggesting.

There is a picture of Rochelle in her current outfit with her and CEDA so I think she was at work as well
41:04 it is also speculated that the zombie in the background might also be Bill.
It stares. Silently.*
*[Something is stalking you...]*
Claws seems to me like a fast special infected like the Hunter and Jockey. But I really like the stalking idea. Maybe he could have functioned like a Weeping Angel. He stalks you and only moves if your back is to him. Then he attacks when close enough to you
so, you start work when? because with writing like that any game company should be looking to hire you.

Turtle Rock was the conceiver of L4D but it was Valve that really polished and made it what it is today
only like 6 turtle rock devs even worked on it in the final
51:30 the working shower comment made me roll over laughing lol, I wish that was a voice line in ion’s vocalizer
28:48 Meat wall is 100% some kind of boss monster like a tank. He has normal sized zombies for HANDS. He is HUGE.
i would assume meat wall is just that, a meat wall. he most likely would be a slow moving but heavy hitting unit that could take dozens if not 100 or more rounds to but down for good.
Ngl that is cool. I personally like Michael Jackson and hearing that is cool
This is a great in depth video and you are one of the most sincere content creators around, cheers.
Appreciate it! I put a lot of effort into this video, glad it resonates with you.
Seeing you so happy for 5k subs makes me really happy for some reason and you put a lot of work into this. Deserved my sub
Handomse pfp :)
Thank you my g! I appreciate you
That Witch cameo in PayDay 2 is just more scarier than my whole Witch experiences in my gameplays. lol
I'm like fairly certain that l4d2 released so early because turtle rock sucked ass at making maps and game design, it's why valve cut them off. Imo*
actually, turtle rock had very little say in how L4D2 was made. they had hardly any creative freedom, had very little room to negotiate alternatives and overall had no support from the company that bought them.
I always thought the zombie with glowing eyes was a refrence to COD zombies, but i can see the clown zombie too
Its a neat refrence either way
The reload animation for that AK was absolutely sending me the entire video lmao great video though, earned a sub!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video my g! Thanks for watching!
The deagle is the best
37:33 that is honestly heartbreaking my mouth was wide open, poor Zoey.
I would like to add to the "bill is in hell" part that
Because dead by daylight works with multiverse, and therefore have said everything is canon, bill's soul is now stuck inside the entity, unable to escape
And if you consider the entity realm "hell" then yes, he is now in hell until something happens to the entity
I'm glad you enjoyed the video my g! I personally never have seen the action figures, but I have seen L4D plushies before
9:14 Only by 6 original Turtle Rock employees, so their L4D experience was worth almost nothing
I mean TECHNICALLY Bill is in hell, thats why he’s in Dead By Daylight. He has been chosen by the entity to die over and over again
1:01:24
that's only half of it
cause it turned out, the map wasn't even made by him, he just ported it, made some coding changes, and claimed it as his own.
the map itself had been made by the devs of the original chivalry mod, and it took YEARS for valve to finally boot his upload off the workshop
Thank you for your dedication not only to this game but to the grind that is youtube nowadays, I hope u get a cat for the effort and have a good time doing what you like, game on
Thank you my g for your kind words
I eat these types of videos up like cookies, congrats on 5k and keep going man, you will get even bigger I believe in you.
I'm glad you like my video just as much as cookies. 🍪 I love them too! Cheers my friend 🥛 🥛

L4d players we must unite, valve has abanonded us
This guy knows how I consume videos, subbed
They know that some people have damn near grown up with them at this point and it'd be stupid to pretend like we haven't spent more than a decade with them.
congrats on 10K
Thanks my gI really appreciate the support
The L4D2 Parish campaign shows that the army and citizens were starting to get wary of carriers, and began shooting carriers on sight; if the L4D2 cast weren't being tested on, they likely got killed by the military, as they were carriers.
12:32 this reminds me of the L4D analog horror series where *spoiler* they do end up being a part of ceda, each being in separate parts of the world doing different jobs.
The same one with the wisperer and starer?
@@supabagel yes that one!
The 4 in "Back 4 Blood" represents the amount of actual LfD developers that worked on it.
Also its confirmed that CEDA and the military were executing Carriers, and the survivors in L4D2 were Carriers, thats where that theory comes from.
Having a part of the iceberg existing for why people go by Bill sometimes is weird. About every Bill you will ever meet is actually named William.
The "Bill Is dead" line is located in the guitar solo portion shortly after the singer says "Aww yeah..."
7:20 nice to meet you too :)
Surprised you didn’t mention “dam it” the unfinished campaign from the first game
It be a cardinal sin not to make Keith a character in L4D3
that whole "malicious" map is just cap, completely untrue
When it comes to bots messing you up on purpose, I have 2 instances:
I remember a glitch on survival in L4D1 in the Sewers on Death Toll that you could use to get back to the safe room and get an infinite time.
Very funny
Also, I wish you had included the “deleting player from the game” glitch on the Dark Carnival finale.
I was listening to this while I was trying to sleep. Feels like listening to a podcast

I like to think Louis and the pills obsession is that he’s overworked and stressed out “Wolf of Wall Street” style 😂
1:08:31 Here's what I think the survivors were doing before the outbreak:
Ellis and Coach were most likely at work when it started, as stated in the video.
Nick was going on a tour throughout the U.S (or just the east coast) and finding casinos to gamble in. He just so happened to be gambling in the Vannah Hotel.
Rochelle was also visiting the south to report on incidents of the Green Flu.
Nice video! Keep the good work!
Thank you!
holy shit, that hippie bit was amazing.
can someone please make a revamp version of dark carnival with the second ending
It be a fun prequel map if done correctly

I actually played the L4D2 arcade cabinet when I went to japan. It was kinda jarring how they replaced the main cast with weird anime girl analogs.
39:30 mentions l4d movie which there was a fan made one by an Italian group that it could be refrenced here
Also right after the purgatory thing is funny as the whole game is set up as the campaigns are ment to be movies
Turtle rock alone didnt create left 4 dead, to say turtle rock made left 4 dead is to discredit valve for what they did for left 4 dead, without valve we wouldnt have these two master pieces
*i love iceberg series since 2020 in pandemic times. even was born 2016 with unpopular. but its very awesome someone created this knowns Things to Unknown Things.*
