Thank you for this great review vid. A lot of reviews only have one style of playing, but you included both fingerstyle and strumming which is awesome! Some ukuleles that might sound unimpressive when strummed come alive with fingerstyle playing, and vice versa, so it's essential to hear both when choosing an instrument.
This was most beneficial. Great video! Thank you. It's frustrating to purchase an instrument you can't see, touch and Feel! I'm totally trusting reviews, some experience and pure Gut! I own a few concerts, tenor and a soprano. I'm so ready for the Baritone. I just ordered a KALA KA-B. I've read good reviews about the action. I own 2 KALA's now. They are very well made. I like them. So, I went with a brand I trust. They all sound so beautiful. The 8 string was most impressive. I was intrigued by the Ortega. I almost purchased one. It's a brand forgotten. But, I played it safe and went with what I know. And I'm excited! I'm going to track my order!🦋
This was so helpful! I’ve been searching for a ukelele but I’m over an hour from any music store . And each one only carries one or two kinds. Hard to compare the sound of any particular instrument. This solves my problem. Thank you!
I play a Kala baritone with a cedar top that IMHO sounds at least as good as (if not better than) these. I play some guitar but almost always end up going to the baritone uke. It's just pure fun to play.
I wish I could hear the differences you all seem to be hearing. I don't know if that comes with time and experience. I hope so. But for now, as long as I find one with decent action and frets I think I'll be in love. :)
@@KatiTheButcher Um, probably not, actually. That could be a large part of it, eh? LOL. I have some. I just don't always remember to use them. I do think there is some ear training required though. I hear a stringed instrument and think "pretty" no matter what the quality of the piece is.
I’ve never heard an 8 string baritone ukulele before. By far the Kala 8 string was the most impressive. I own (and love) an Oscar Schmidt Spalted Mango Baritone Ukulele. I think it is model OU78T. I understand they make an 8 string version and it’s probably my next acquisition. Thank you for the video. You play beautifully. Mike
I love my Kala but I’m thinking about new strings to raise the volume. I use worth browns low D and love it but could use more volume when leading a group?
I love my baritone uke. It always ends up on my songs. I’m glad they did this video. Does anyone know the name of the song he plays first? It’s such a nice tune and he plays it so smoothly. Edit: They all sound great but I would love to have the Ortega :)
I am in the market for a bari Uke but, I would like electric pickups like on a a guitar. The bottom four strings are like a guitar so, why not pickups like a guitar. I have been playing 4 strings for 70 years. I do not like 6 it makes my fingers sore. Iguana
The sound of the lanikai is my favorite. Not too high like the ukulele, more like a guitar and not so strong own sound. More reserved, seems to give the song/spund the front row.
Baritone is tuned DGBE, like the top four strings of a guitar. Here's an article about the baritone uke: www.ukulelemag.com/uke-basics/baritone-ukulele-basics-expand-your-sound
Could you help me to choose please? It would be my first Baritone: Lanikai MA-B for 135 EUR (with case) or Ortega RU5-BA for 90 EUR (without case)? Please help.

Excellent review
Hmmmm, due to great videos and reviews, I just ordered the Caramel 203. Hope I love it, electric, acoustic...these all sound beautiful...
@@ZGerrianne I have the Caramel CB 103....Whats the verdict on your 203?.....Liking it?
Thank you!!
I bought a KALA KA-B a few months ago. It has a deep, mellow-yet-resonant tone. What a joy to play!
I totally agree
YAY 🤚 Thanks for the confirmation ☺️. It's so hard to decide. My new KALA KA-B is on the way!🦋
I bought it yesterday. I’m in love 😮 the sound is amazing. I ended up returning the other one I have bought a couple weeks ago (a Mitchell)

IMO, the Ohana and Ortega blew the others away. Both were articulate, balanced with good volume and refined tone.
They all make good sounding ukuleles.
great video. for me Kala has the best sound - full, round and jazzy

I like the Ortega, nice clean sound

Are you using headphones or a nice speaker?

I own 3 baritone ukes, my fav is the Kala 8string. Just love the sound. Very nice presentation. Thanks

I own the soprano version of the Oscar Schmidt spalted mango which is beautiful but the intonation is off :(
He plays his baritone like a ukulele, very good
I believe that's the Ohana BK 70R (I have one)
The Kala KA-B and the Lanikai MA-B seem nice.
Bought a KALA KA-B a few months ago. It has a rich, mellow-yet-resonant tone. It's a joy to play.

Is it too late to ask for the chord progressions used in this video?
I like this one. the 8 string ukulele. sounds so pretty!!! says Judy Corrette
How much do these instruments cost?

@1tony thank you so much! 🙏🏾
Been playing a Kamaka Baritone for about 40 years; see/hear no reason to change.

The Cordoba 24 had an amazing sound...more vivid...if all were recorded by th same means...haha
The sound of the lanikai is my favorite. Not too high like the ukulele, more like a guitar and not so strong own sound. More reserved, seems to give the song/spund the front row.
That 8 string really blew everything else out of the water
I have a hard enough time keeping four nylon strings in tune...imagine 8 new ones stretching over the first week...
Ohana bk7
I’m thinking of getting one. What notes are the strings tuned to?
