For someone who wishes they could play finger style acoustic guitar but doesn’t want the headache of 6 strings and the baritone seems like the perfect sweet spot for me to learn a guitar like instrument
I'm a fingerstyle guitarist. I love my guitar, but I will say there can be some advantages to having 4 strings. The top 4 strings are right in the sweet spot for melodies, so it kind of forces you to focus on that. It gives you more room on the fretboard and you can do a lot of open chords and moveable open chord shapes without having to worry about bottom strings getting in the way. In fact that's sort of true about chord shapes in general. I've been having loads of fun with my soprano uke.
ok, but on bari uke exist scores? in such amount as tenor? or, could I take same strings as on tenor uke and use many of scores, which are or concert and tenor.. same tuning?
I started learning ukulele when I was 62 years old. I have at least one of each size. My favorite is the baritone uke -- the tone is actually better than most of my other guitars, but the extra space on the fingerboard makes it much easier to play - more fun for me. For this tired old brain, it was great not having to worry about the bottom two strings! Hey, if I need those low notes, I will play my BASS ukulele.
I'm 48 with arthritis, and that's why I'm leaning towards the baritone ukulele as opposed to a guitar. I have a Luna soprano ukulele and I LOVE it, but sometimes I want a lower, deeper sound. I'm just trying to decide between the Luna and the Kala baritone.
@@anxylum Sorry to hear about the arthritis. Glad to hear that you are still playing music - it helps. I ordered a Caramel (Zebra stripe) baritone from Amazon for about $140, and am very happy with it. Looks like they are having shipping problems now, though. Luna and Kala make fine instruments, so it is probably a toss-up. Plinka Plinka.
For beginners like me, being able to put a capo on the 5th fret allows you to play with your friends who are playing GCEA-tuned instruments without have to pull out the circle of fifths and tranpose their tuning to baritone tuning. It also means you can carry one instrument, instead of two, when you play with other people.
I have one in each size. They all have a special place in my heart, but especially the baritone. I play lullabies on it every night for my daughter. fingerpicking arpeggios is really relaxing.
I have a collection too. I don't have a baritone but all of mine have a special place. My mother bought me a John grey banjolele about 40 years ago but she never heard me play it as it is being refurbished. Last year I was told my mother had a week to live so I was given end of life visitations because of covid. To cut a long story short I was allowed to play my ukulele for her in the hospital........ She went on to live another seven months !!!! Now all of my seven ukes have a special place in my heart and for a while after her death I couldn't play..... I,m actually tearful now thinking about it but I realise that she would want me to carry on playing so I will.
@@arpitkatare9719 you can find a lot of tutorials on RUclips for all types of ukulele,s but the best way to learn is at a ukulele club but unfortunately the pandemic has shut down a lot of clubs. The ukulele is a very easy instrument to play and you can down load loads of music on line. Practicing is the most important thing to do but a lot of chords are really easy. Just browse on RUclips for " ukulele players" and there are some very impressive players out there. Good luck and enjoy
Wow this is such a good move Marco and letting us know there will be special courses for baritone you made my day! Of all ukes I have the baritone is the one I use the most frequently because I love the deep sound it has and the cooling effect after a harassing day at work.
I have been playing baritone ukulele for about a year! As soon as I picked it up I have not gone back to my other ukuleles! I can’t wait to see the amazing stuff you do with it!
Yay! Finally the baritone ukulele makes its first appearance on this channel. I own two baritone ukuleles and really love them. I do not own a standard tune ukulele. I can't wait for our first lesson on the baritone. Thank you for getting one.
I've just bought the exact same model, cannot believe how easy it is to play. Out of the box quick tune and what a sound, absolutely amazing tone. All I need now is lots of tutorials from yourself. Thank you Marco you are an inspiration.
Hello, thank you for all your lessons, they inspire me a lot! Started playing concert uke 4 months ago and I got so into it. Recently I wanted something with a deeper sound and went for a baritone. The sound stole my heart. First time I strummed it in the shop I knew this is the one for me! I cannot wait for more baritone stuff on your channel, thank you for all your work
I love my baritone uke and was happy to have you discuss the differences between the tenor and baritone. I am eagerly awaiting more lessons from you on the baritone. Thoroughly enjoy your channel.
I have a concert, and a baritone. I like playing the baritone better, and also the sound. It's great that you're going to teach us beautiful songs, and can't wait. Thank you very much!!!
I absolutely adore my bari ukulele! I have had it for about two years and I love the rich and warm sound that it produces. It took a bit of experimenting to find the right strings (in case anyone was curious, for me personally Aquila Red work best, but I’ve also had good experiences with Martins) and now I can’t imagine going back to my old concert ukulele. I really can’t wait for new content and new bari tutorials!
Depending on the sound and feel you're after and where you're located. I can't recomend uke logics enough. I bought one set to try and now they're the only strings on every uke I own. I like the feel of reds but I always feel let down by the Aquila wound strings.
Hi Marco. Is there a tenor Anuenue moonbird in the back of the room on the table ? If yes, could you make a revew for this one please ? I really trust your expérience and feeling about instruments and I'm résolu curious about this one. Thank you for your videos.
I bought a baritone about ten years ago for use as a travel guitar. I can accompany myself whilst learning vocal parts when away from home, also sit in on Irish pub sessions, or any opportunity to jam. So much easier than lugging a guitar around, and loads of fun. I've since bought a KAM (copy of the Kala U-bass) solid bodied electric bass uke. I sold my MIJ Fender Jazz bass, as it was not getting any use now I have the U-bass.
I also abandoned my Fender basses in favor of my U-basses. MUCH easier to play and weighs just a fraction of the Fenders. I also now have a 6 string uke (tuned like a guitar) and plan to buy a tenor uke in the near future.
I recently got a Baritone because I love that deeper sound, and since getting it I've been drawn to pick it up more than my tenors, however I need to learn how to play it I've just been playing the songs I know on the normal uke on it. So looking forward to the lessons coming up!!
Thanks a lot brother. This satisfies all my queries regarding the Baritone. Hope to see some great fingerstyle melody tutorials for the Baritone. Cheers mate
Just got a baritone (a rank beginner) about 4 months ago. Desperately trying to learn how to play it so I can use it in elementary school music classes next school year and lead the kids in songs -- bring on the lessons!
Beautiful baritone! I have a couple of tenors and just bought a baritone. I’m really loving the deeper resonant tones. Excellent for finger picking. Looking forward to your lessons on the baritone!
Wow 🤩 it’s definitely deferent from regular ukulele sound. But very smooth and deep. A certain calmness is there. And the community page idea is just wonderful. I wish you all the best for this wonderful project
I started playing 10 years ago. My first ukulele was a baritone. But I couldn't find anything online to help me learn. There weren't any books at the music store either. So I got a soprano uke and started watching RUclips. I play every size of uke and recently have found a lot more baritone tutorials so I have picked it back up. I also have a tenor guitar that I tuned to baritone so I am loving to play 4 steal strings. I am looking forward to you baritone videos.
I absolutely enjoy strumming my baritone. I prefer the deeper sound of it over the smaller ukuleles. I do enjoy listening to you play and am looking forward to your lessons with the baritone.
I L♥️VE this Baritone! I wanted it so bad. Just too Rich for my purse. However, I am Madly In Love with it's cousin, the Kala KA-B. The sound is so rich and full. The action is smooth. It's a hybrid/crossbreed for sure. I have a soprano, 2 concerts, and a tenor that I've been playing for a while. My 'first born' concert will always be my favorite. We have a history together. I'm on Day 4 with my new KALA KA-B. It's taking a little adjustment to the chord difference. I'm starting with simple songs I know well. The transition is easier than expected. I had to depend upon reviews, videos and experience on making my purchase without touching and feeling! Thanks Marco for this review! I love the one I have now and truly recommend it. Things also change every day!....I may have the opportunity to add another to my happy family of Ukuleles!🦋
Have you compared the KA-B to a Luna Vintage Mahogany baritone by any chance? I'm trying to decide between the two. I have a Luna soprano and I love it, so I'm leaning towards the Luna baritone, but I've heard good things about the Kala.
I have four bari ukes and love their tone. I have been following your channel for a long time, and even bought a concert uke, thinking I might change over because of your teaching. (Was sorry later it wasn’t a tenor, but that’s another story.) I really look forward to your baritone sessions!!! Keep us posted!!! WooHOO! Thank you!!!
I love my baritone uke, after I got one I later ended up with a custom 8-string electric bari uke and it's become one of my favourite parts of my string collection.
I am so happy that you will be offering baritone videos and music to learn with this instrument. I have a couple baritones and play them often, but I also like the tenor and GCEA tuning ukuleles. It depends on my mood and what I am learning that directs me to which uke to play.
So I came across this video 5 days ago, and btw, Marco, you are my favorite Ukulele player here on RUclips and I am proud to be one of your Patreon members. I am in awe of your skill and love your classical style background and expression. After watching this video I immediately placed an order for the Kala KA-ZCT-B which was just delivered to me today and I am really enjoying it. I have only had Enya Uke's up to this point. A Tenor Nova Go Pro, a Tenor EUT-MAD EQ, and a concert EUC-MAD-XB Bernadette Signature. This is my first Kala and it is just magnificent. I love the deep tone and sound as it is the best of both worlds between a Uke and a guitar. I own a Taylor GS-mini in Mahogany which was my first stringed instrument, but it's 6 strings are just a little too complex for me as a beginner musician and that is why I switched over from guitar to Ukulele. Just like in the children's story of Goldilocks and the three bears, getting my hands on this Baritone Ukulele after playing on a concert and tenor size, makes playing a stringed instrument "just right" for me. Because of it's size and sound, I feel like I am playing a 3/4 sized acoustic guitar without any of the complications. Thank you so much for this video, Marco, it was just what I needed.
I was looking at ukuleles and came across a baritone ukulele. Instantly went to RUclips to hear it, saw your video and fell in love with the sound! I’m sooo happy to have found the baritone ukulele, it’s the sound and size combo I’ve been looking for! I can’t wait to get started and learn how to play!
The benefit of the baritone for older musicians is the greater finger room for less flexible digits! I would like more advice on riding the rattles on strumming which often attends even necks with truss rods.
Marco! Thanks for your videos. Btw, Aquila makes baritone strings that can be tuned up to gcea tuning. I put these strings on my baritone and tune them a tone lower than standard gcea tuning to F, Bb, D, G, which gives me tuning of a renaissance lute or a guitar in standard tuning with a capo on the third fret. This sounds fantastic on my Kala baritone. Try this tuning, I think you’ll like it.
interesting! as someone who has only played concert uke and no guitar experience, I wonder if that would be a nice transition to enjoying the size and space of a baritone without relearning all of the chords.
Truly great that you put some attention on the bariuke. Great, great instrument, with a strong character on itself. BTW, a lot of people try to learn guitar and quit after a short while, assuming it's to difficult and losing motivation. If they were introduced and started with the bariuke, after a while they would much more easily switch to the guitar (it's fundamentally "just" adding the upper 2 strings). Guitar teachers, guitar builders and shops are completely missing the point, by ignoring the promotion of the bariuke to the beginners. And continue to loose a huge amount of present and future sales and services...Cheers!
Jack Latou: You sound like my echo. lol I've been saying that for years, ever since the first time I picked up a bari uke. Now that I'm old (almost 77) and my fingers are a wee bit arthritic, I'm so grateful that I made the switch years back, because I can still play my 2 bari's.
@@wendybrown2701 - I got mine for a little less because I got it in a clearance sale from Kala when the model was discontinued, but $200 is a really good price for one. If it's in good shape, it's a bargain.
I love my 3 baris. I used to struggle playing guitar, started playing soprano uke but never liked the sound. I finally found a bari and when it became clear this was just a 4 string guitar and I would no longer have to transpose to play along with others, I was sold. I've upgraded my instrument every few years, going from a vintage Kent from the 60s, to a low end but very nice Caramel EA model, to the 8 string Kala, which is by far my favourite.
I have had a Kala baritone ukulele for several years. It’s a basic entry-level model but still sounds and plays well. I have experimented with putting tenor strings on it and tuning it to low G as well. It is perhaps a little redundant because I have several tenors and a couple of concerts but it actually does give an even richer and fuller tone than a tenor. It’s currently in baritone again. I don’t necessarily recommend putting tenor strings on a baritone. Because mine is composite, it didn’t suffer any ill effects from the higher tension and it was inexpensive enough that I was willing to take the risk. That might not be the case for other baritones. Of course, the other advantage of putting a baritone in tenor tuning is being able to play along with other ukulele players without the capo or transposing the chords.
My baritone is my favorite Ukulele, I always reach out for it more !! I'm so excited for your courses and videos about it. Cuz I kinda struggle with learning Fingerstyle with the baritone (Not Enough Tutorials)
Sounds great Marco. Like the deep rich sound. I've played guitar for years before giving the ukulele a try and I must say I love it. Wish I got one sooner. Have a concert size and want to get a tenor. Might just have to get a baritone one too!
tunning a baritone uke as a tenor (with the correct strings) can be a great way to have more finger space and a richer sound. I have a basically a 5 sting baritone uke tuned as a tenor with both a high and low G in reentrant tuning and it sounds so rich and full. If you want that signature uke sound then get a tenor or soprano but if you want a full rich sound with lost of fret board space, a Baritone with gGcea might be some you would love.
I have got a four string cigar box guitar with steel strings tuned the same as a baritone, I absolutely love it, can't wait for more baritone videos from you, 10/10
I have a 1960 pan baritone ukulele and I love it. I also play guitar so it's not difficult to switch back and forth. If you already play guitar you already know how to play. Great video!
I have a concert and a tenor. I am amazed by the difference in sound quality of the baritone when the strings are only a perfect fourth lower, I guess it also is a lot bigger. I really like the sound of this one.
I just played a kala baritone ukulele at the music store a couple days ago and immediately wanted one. Then this video popped up and now I think I’m gonna have to pull the trigger!
I have a Caramel baritone and love it. I find that some songs sound better on the baritone and others better on my Opio tenor. Looking forward to your baritone playing Marco
Your videos are extremely amazing and motivating. In the beginning of 2022, I just wanted to learn guitar but as its size was bigger and also the cost so I learnt to go for a Ukulele. But again, the deep details about various Ukulele wasn't known to me so I bought the Concert Ukulele. Now I realised that I could had purchased a Baritone Ukulele. Because I loved the depth of its tone. Thanks a lot for creating such a beautiful videos. I am sure that I will learn Ukulele just by watching your videos. Thanks again. 🙏🙏
I’m not a proficient player but I do like both baritone and tenor ukes. By playing the chord shapes on my baritone that I’m familiar with from my tenor, I find I’m simply playing in a different key! So the chord shapes for the key of C on the tenor, make the key of G on the baritone… which suits me fine when I’m playing on my own. Look forward to your lessons
I'm really happy, Marco, to learn about your baritone ukulele, and the sound, to my ears, is exquisite, so I will, thanks to you, be looking to acquire one. I currently have a Billie Eilish Signature Soprano uke, and a Cordoba 20TM-CE Tenor Uke, both of which I love. As a guitar player, I haven't really felt the need to seek out a baritone uke, but now I will, so thank you MC 🙌
hi marco. I went to a baritone because of the width of the neck made it much more easy to play because of my short fingers. I also like more mellow sound over tenor. would be great to get some baritone ideas of such a professional. not much out there for a baritone. You are amazingly dedicated.
i bought a baritone uke a little while ago. my fingers are too fat for a tenor uke. those little bits you played on it sound awesome. looking forward to some bari uke lessons videos from you ;)
I bought a few years ago a Kala Tenor Guitar and had it strung and tuned to a Baritone Ukulele. I love the deep sounds of it. I have learned to use the fingering of the Baritone. Maybe one day I will get a Baritone Ukulele or another Guitar.
Yes, I have a baritone. You got a nice one that sounds beautiful. Having one is a fun change, but I prefer the smaller sizes. I love the deeper sound and sustain of the baritone, but I have small hands and find playing the soprano easier. I’m glad that you will be playing it and teaching with it!
Great video. Look forward to seeing more of your videos. Long time guitar player, and I’ve got a soprano uke I’m not crazy about but I’ve been thinking I’d really like a baritone, and your video was just what I needed to decide to go for it and get one. Thanks!
Hearing this instrument in a recording, I imagine it could easily be confused with a nylon string guitar, with a capo high up on the neck. Although the distinctive ukulele tone character is still present.
Got a 20.5in scale guitar. Near the same scale length as this. Love it. I moved up from a concert to this mini-guitar. Having something small that can mix in with other guitar players is great.
The ukulele I play almost daily is a baritone. I have it tuned with a high D string that gives it a more traditional ukulele sound, though it is still 2 1/2 steps lower. This allows me to play clawhammer style ukulele. A style borrowed from banjo playing.
I agree with everything you said. I bought a baritone a year ago because I love the tone of the baritone. It sounds like a small guitar, but with all the benefits of the size of a Uke. It was particularly wonderful that you talked about using chord shape on baritone. I like that you said we just have to think about chord shapes.
I have both baritone which I play for my church hymns and love the deeper tones and soft blending strums. I also have a sparno and tenor uke which I enjoy the brighter happier sounds. Play these two at uke groups because I do not always like the chord reading changes I have to do in my head....but I love and enjoy all three ukes.
I call my tenor uke a canoe and my guitar my boat, but a baritone is just a simple guitar but actually the neck is slightly wider than guitar. So if you have fat fingers for guitar try the baritone. But if you want to play uke on a baritone just capo on 5th fret. Likewise if you want to play baritone on a uke capo to 7th fret.
Excellent information on the Baritone ukulele. I have one and love rhe tone, just not sure what to do with it. I tends to play around with guitar stuff even though missing the low end. Look forward to your insight into the baritone
Thank you for the presentation. I love the Baritone Ukulele, I love the Tenor...trying to learn the Baritone, but feel as though I am missing the qualities of the Tenor. Fewer resources online for the Baritone, but I suppose if I had to choose, it would be the Baritone...but I don't have to choose, so hurrah! I look forward to future Baritone lessons.
Interested in trying a baritone now. As for chord shapes I’d probably approach it as a guitarist and use guitar chord shapes due to the tuning being the same as the top 4 strings on a guitar.
I have a bariton, I do find that i pick it up for a while and end on the tennor. I would love to do more with it for sure, tha sound out of it is amazing. Looking forward to see what you come up with for it Marco. You keep posting and I will keep practicing.
I have a KALA baritone uke on order at my local music store. Having a hard time waiting for it. I love the sound of the baritone and I am eager to get started learning.
I bought a Lidl ukelele and i love it a little hard for chords but something's work also learn a lot from this channel. My low e snapt and the guitar store Owner is on vacation so i grab'd the Uke! Its fun!!
I have a 8-string Baritone, itʻs a mini 12-string guitar. All my group members love it for it brings an added voice to our music. In addition to the Baritone, I also bring my 6-string tenor Kamaka ukulele and my 8-string tenor Oscar Schmidt. These bring different sounds to Hawaiian music.
I'm ukulele player that also plays the bass. So baritone is no problem for me. 💪💙.. I relate the strings , six strings and four strings like skiers and snowboarders. I've always been a border and played four strings. That's just who I am... Baritones have such a beautiful sound tho. I love my tenor ukulele I cannot stop playing it. But I got a very sneaky suspicion if I get a baritone that I won't put it down.. and yes I want to join the community of Marco's ukulele players. You should just build a town and you Maro, will be the mayor of ukuleleville
They sell gCEA strings for Baritone. I like that better than a Tenor. I like the spacing, size, volume etc. I'd rather have two baritones with one being DGBE and one being gCEA than a Baritone and a Tenor
I'm a 70 y/o classically trained pianist whose has had a true love for classical guitar music all my life. My son took it up when young instead of piano, but he's not around now. A few weeks ago, I impulse ordered a Donner concert uke pkg on Amazon with the intention of teaching my 6 y/o granddaughter who lives with me (in addition to our piano lessons) . Well, it arrived and neh, would absolutely not stay in tune. I have perfect pitch, timbre was not pleasant enough and it just drove me crazy. The action was too hard and metal fret ends terribly sharp; I finally packed it up and returned. Decided I needed to do a bit more research and seriously contemplated the baritone uke with a deeper sound. Fortunately, after just discovering your RUclipss (love them) and your commentary, I am definitely rethinking my new purchase of a ukulele. I need to begin on the easy side with arthritis in left wrist; the tenor seems like a good compromise. Also don't want to skimp on quality, because if it doesn't have a beautiful mellow tone, with ease of playing, I won't be inspired to pursue your channel. How do I know if I will have ease pressing on the strings, forming chords without having to apply so much pressure? Is there a way to adjust this on all ukes? I'm going to have to toughen up my left fingertips, I know, because MANY yrs ago I played simple tunes on a uke when teaching in elementary schools. Low G high G - you play beautifully on anything!!! Best maker... don't want cheap again, but do want one worth owning and passing on to my grandchildren. Any other suggestions out there, pls?
In addition.....I can't wait for the baritone lessons! I have been watching the tenor lessons and spending a lot of time trying to "convert" the chords to baritone tuning. It would be great to just play along with you Marco in the same tuning. This would make it much easier to learn to lesson you are teaching.
OMG, I am SO excited for this video!! ❤❤❤ Marco, I picked up the ukelele a few months ago because of your channel and I'm now also a happy member of the uke fam on Patreon. Coincidentally though, I bought this exact Kala ukelele because I loved the deeper tone compared to the concert uke I learned on (but I tuned mine to GCEA with a high G since I'm still in early days). Now that I'm a few of your lessons in, I'm thrilled to hear you play on the same instrument and keep learning even more on the baritone! Edit: Oh noooo,... I just got to the end of the video and I'm totally that person who tuned it like a Tenor when I shouldn't have. I should probably restring it back again :(
I have progressed from a soprano to a tenor to a baritone. Not only that, I am in love with the DGBD tuning and have even turned my 8 string Kala Tenor into a baritone tuning of DGBD plus my Gretch long neck tenor is tuned to DGBD..love it and will never switch. All I need is to find a Brazilian cavaquinho player group to play with. Slack Key DGBD or GCEG is the best ! I hope you will do some tutorials on the DBGD Baritone?
I LOVE the baritone ukulele! The sound is beautiful. I usually play a tenor but I started ukulele because I found guitar too large and difficult. If I had known about baritone ukes, I think I would have tried them first because I think I like the sound better. I wonder how hard it would be for a beginner-intermediate on a tenor to re-learn chord names on a baritone and it makes me wish I had one to borrow. Thank you very much for this very informative video.
I’m in this position. Been playing for a year and I know lots of the chords quite well, wondering if it’ll set me back getting a baritone? I’d like to be able to play both, I think dependent on the song, one might be better than the other. I play the guitar as well and already have trouble switching between the two and forgetting which chords is for which instrument! 😆
@@denisemoye495 Yeah, that would confuse my brain! 😅 I am going to have one of my tenor ukes re-strung with baby baritone strings. That way, the only monetary investment is the strings. If I like it, I can think about re-stringing the other uke, too, which has pick-ups. Did you know you can run the baritone uke through pickups with a distortion pedal and it will like an electric guitar?? It's a whole new world!🤘😁
Marco, I like the baritone, beautiful sound, matter of fact, I have the same Kala as yours. But my real love is the Guilele. I have a Tiny Tenor 6 string and love the size, sound and ability to play classical music on it. Any chance that you can do a video on the Guilele?
For someone who wishes they could play finger style acoustic guitar but doesn’t want the headache of 6 strings and the baritone seems like the perfect sweet spot for me to learn a guitar like instrument
It is. Best entry to finger picking

The top 4 strings are right in the sweet spot for melodies, so it kind of forces you to focus on that. It gives you more room on the fretboard and you can do a lot of open chords and moveable open chord shapes without having to worry about bottom strings getting in the way. My favorite is the baritone uke -- the tone is actually better than most of my other guitars, but the extra space on the fingerboard makes it much easier to play - more fun for me. Right On 👍
Oh i never thought about a bass ukulele 😱🎸!
@@MarcoCirilloUkulele You Must!!! Way cool 😎

For beginners like me, being able to put a capo on the 5th fret allows you to play with your friends who are playing GCEA-tuned instruments without have to pull out the circle of fifths and tranpose their tuning to baritone tuning. It also means you can carry one instrument, instead of two, when you play with other people.

I've just bought the exact same model, cannot believe how easy it is to play. Out of the box quick tune and what a sound, absolutely amazing tone. All I need now is lots of tutorials from yourself.
Thank you Marco you are an inspiration.
Yes! More baritone coming soon :)
Does it have a truss rod ?
I love the sound of a baritone Ukulele. My tenor is gathering dust since I got a baritone. Looking forward to the lessons. Thank you Marco.
Yessss more coming soon :)
Beautiful baritone! I have a couple of tenors and just bought a baritone. I’m really loving the deeper resonant tones. Excellent for finger picking. Looking forward to your lessons on the baritone!
100% -- the baritone sounds great...love the richness!
Thank you so much! I’ve really wanted to see baritone tutorials for a while. I love my baritone though for some occasions I like my smaller sizes too
Try this tuning, I think you’ll like it.
interesting! as someone who has only played concert uke and no guitar experience, I wonder if that would be a nice transition to enjoying the size and space of a baritone without relearning all of the chords.
got one after years of guitar playing, and man, this is a songwriter's best friend. they are full of songs!
And honestly even if they never jump to guitar and stick to the bariuke it’s still a fine instrument in its own right
man your ukulele playing is so melodious❤❤❤👌👌
I do have a baritone ukulele by Kala, and I adore it. I have the solid cedar top acacia with the padauk binding. It's so mellow and smooth sounding!
Did yours run about $200? Im looking at one and thats the price i see
@@wendybrown2701 - I got mine for a little less because I got it in a clearance sale from Kala when the model was discontinued, but $200 is a really good price for one.
My next uke will be a baritone with low g tenor tuning.
I've had Baritones for years. It make learning any guitar tutorial easy and then ez to play on Tenor uke
I have a concert and a tenor. I am amazed by the difference in sound quality of the baritone when the strings are only a perfect fourth lower, I guess it also is a lot bigger. I really like the sound of this one.
Yeah. I loved it immediately!
I just played a kala baritone ukulele at the music store a couple days ago and immediately wanted one. Then this video popped up and now I think I’m gonna have to pull the trigger!
Hehe, go for it Tammy :)
This is how I play my baritone also. I don't have any one to play with so it works out fine.
Hi Marco, I bought a Kala baritone ukulele a couple of months ago and I love it. Please do lots of lessons on it for us. Phil
I love the baritone, but then I’ve played guitar. Also I have a a tenor tuned DGBE. You play it beautifully as usual 😀
I have a baritone and it’s great for classical stuff, plus regular ukulele pieces that aren’t in re-entrant tuning.
Great video. Look forward to seeing more of your videos. Long time guitar player, and I’ve got a soprano uke I’m not crazy about but I’ve been thinking I’d really like a baritone, and your video was just what I needed to decide to go for it and get one. Thanks!
This was the most helpful video I have ever seen on RUclips. Thank you
Hearing this instrument in a recording, I imagine it could easily be confused with a nylon string guitar, with a capo high up on the neck. Although the distinctive ukulele tone character is still present.
Got a 20.5in scale guitar. Near the same scale length as this. Love it. I moved up from a concert to this mini-guitar. Having something small that can mix in with other guitar players is great.
Hi Marco just bought a baritone uk. And it’s the same as yours. I love it . Such a beautiful sound. Really looking forward to some baritone lessons.
Me too❤️
I’m learning on a Kala tenor but I have to say I may well get a baritone too as it’s such lovely deep mellow sound. I love both! Thanks for the video!
love from Indonesia Marco..i'm the new subscriber.. so happy found this channel and i love the way you teach...
The ukulele I play almost daily is a baritone. I have it tuned with a high D string that gives it a more traditional ukulele sound, though it is still 2 1/2 steps lower. This allows me to play clawhammer style ukulele. A style borrowed from banjo playing.
I was waiting for you to buy the baritone ukulele. So thankyou and congratulations for doing so. Eagerly waiting for your lessons on it.
I agree with everything you said. I bought a baritone a year ago because I love the tone of the baritone. It sounds like a small guitar, but with all the benefits of the size of a Uke. It was particularly wonderful that you talked about using chord shape on baritone. I like that you said we just have to think about chord shapes.
i have my baritone tuned with a low D string and i play it with capo on 3rd fret for Bb. this suits my voice for most songs.
Yes ! Marco i too have a Baritone ukulele, I’m looking forward to more stuff from you on the Baritone Regards Michael
Very tasty playing, Marco - Grazie!
That sounds amazing really full and warm. It actually sounds a lot like a guitar but I'm not a professional so take that for what it's worth
New subscriber here. Looking forward for your baritone uke videos
I started learning the tenor ukulele less than one week ago and love the sound its amazing.......just learnt the Travis technique. I also play violin😀
@@suluapxkab1075 Thanks, I'll check it out.
You are amazing, Marco, the baritone uke sounds awesome when you play it.😊
That’s a nice 👍🏻 one glad I found you because now I made up my mind 🤩🤩thank you 💕 the Kala baritone 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for sharing the information regarding chord shapes.
Interested in trying a baritone now. As for chord shapes I’d probably approach it as a guitarist and use guitar chord shapes due to the tuning being the same as the top 4 strings on a guitar.
I just bought a baritone. I love the tone of it! I am a beginner, so thank you for your videos.
I have a bariton, I do find that i pick it up for a while and end on the tennor. I would love to do more with it for sure, tha sound out of it is amazing. Looking forward to see what you come up with for it Marco. You keep posting and I will keep practicing.
Nice playing man ! 👌🏻
I have a KALA baritone uke on order at my local music store. Having a hard time waiting for it. I love the sound of the baritone and I am eager to get started learning.
Great video! I’m currently building a baritone ukulele. I’ll be back when it’s finished!
I bought a Lidl ukelele and i love it a little hard for chords but something's work also learn a lot from this channel. My low e snapt and the guitar store Owner is on vacation so i grab'd the Uke! Its fun!!
I love my baritone! It has a great sound and I love that it gives me more low options.
I love how you let the uke sing as you play
Love baritone. Open tunings are the best
I absolutely love my Kala baritone ukulele! Nice full, deep sound.
In addition.....I can't wait for the baritone lessons! I have been watching the tenor lessons and spending a lot of time trying to "convert" the chords to baritone tuning. It would be great to just play along with you Marco in the same tuning. This would make it much easier to learn to lesson you are teaching.
I agree wholeheartedly. Willing to transpose from the tenor vids, but would prefer some bari videos. Can’t wait!
It's a whole new world!🤘😁
Yes! This is what Ive been waiting for from you. I’m all in so please let the finger style lessons begin. ❤️👍🏼
Yessss! Coming soon :)
Marco, I like the baritone, beautiful sound, matter of fact, I have the same Kala as yours. But my real love is the Guilele. I have a Tiny Tenor 6 string and love the size, sound and ability to play classical music on it. Any chance that you can do a video on the Guilele?
I like to think that The Baritone is for Experts of both the Ukulele and Guitar.
