Keyalis same though
lol
True true..
lmao same dude!
BRUHHH it's 4:22 here 😂💀
Didnt realize I was watching a 1 hour video till I was 40 minutes in. Who knew koi buying was so intresting
I know right I thought the exact same thing 😄
sleepy rui ppp
Me either.. 😅
Same dude
I do love how all the different breeders seem so happy to share their hobbies/passions with others.
It's a business to the breeder
What a beautifully shot documentary! Clear, clean narration, the B-roll does not take center stage, but belongs where it should be, and the Japanese landscape and the Koi. What a satisfying watch!
I must say that I am impressed with how present each location, give credit to each breeder and properly list their specializations. I know next to nothing about koi but still found this video very much enjoyable to watch. Thank you for your hard work in making this video.
Chris Isak I concur
This! I am also sure this is great advertisement for each breeder as well.
Very true
@@boofenstein ു
I think he hire the blonde guy to do this documentary
You should make a video from the time you receive the koi in America to the point until they are ready for sale.
I totally agree!!!!
I agree would be great to see your retail setup. Thanks for a great video,my they are beautiful fish
💯 would love to see that as well!
Yes! I do agree! I'd love to see how they adjust to their new living conditions in the U.S.
ITA. Maybe he will too! Fingers crossed.
The platinum Ogon were gorgeous! Definitely shows how much care and dedication the breeders put into their work
I already know this guy is the most amazing man in town. Everyone knows him, everyone loves him, everyone can rely on him. Hes so lovable just from seeing his interactions with the farmers and everyone else
You have the most relaxing voice to listen to. I really enjoyed this video.
Jessica Crawford and youe are sexxy baby
true
Sounds like Vin Scully
Jessica Crawford that’s true

I'm on Vacation and I'm watching a video about fish (the whole video)…
That’s me rn lmao
Lol - me too! 🙌
An hour documentary with NO ads?! I will take it!!
This guy really explained it clearly on what it's like to buy koi in Japan
I felt like my hand was held and I was taken right along with them on the trip. Living pieces of art! Such a very well done video!
This was very relaxing to watch. I found myself looking at the koi and thinking "I'd take that one!"
And that one, and that one, and that one........and....
Same and this is my first Koi fish video I've ever watched. Never understood why ppl get so excited over a fish until this video. 😂😂😂
This was really interesting and enjoyable. The production level was top class. Steve was so easy going and likeable and presented the programme effortlessly. I suppose that is testament to his love of the subject. It was as good a programme as any you would find on TV made by a TV company. Well done!
Well, that was totally fascinating. I will never be interested in purchasing koi but I was enthralled with the process. I wanted to net out a koi of my own! Must be amazing to have $10k to spend on a single fish. I could have done without watching the squid being eaten alive though... ugh.
this is an exceptional doco. I have no real interest in Koi and it was just recommended to me on RUclips. But i ended up watching the entire doco - thoroughly enjoying it. Thankyou for giving us such an amazing insight
Yeah me too and my only intersest in fish is when it is cooked on a plate. Stopped watching after 20 minutes with a hungry feeling.
I'm suddenly compelled to start a koi pond. 😄
don't
K Reed why?
Dont listen to other people, Im starting my own after watching this video for sure.
in my opinion you would have to do alot of research and planning before you build and buy koi especially if you want to keep the koi alive.
old time gamer well no shit
"Watch how carefully they introduce these expensive koi into the new indoor pond water" Proceeds to yeet the thing into the pond
I think it has been a year since i watched this video for the first time. Now i studied and observed many koi for a year, i found that i can appreciate koi shown in this video much more than before. They are all amazing koi 👍
The narrator sounds like a movie you would watch in elementary school, he has a very relaxing voice
the quality of this video is insane... you deserve more subs
They already have 9 million view... thats already big money.... Even few sub.... .
SO ITS DEC 15TH 2019 AND THIS VIDEO HAS POPPED UP ON MY RUclips WALL, SO I DECIDED TO WATCH AND MAN I MUST SAY I'VE ENJOYED EVERY SINGLE FRAME OF THE VIDEO DOCUMENTARY. THE NARRATOR VOICE IS SO SOOTHING AND CLEAR. VIDEO IS SO INTERESTING AND EDUCATIONAL. I DID NOT KNOW THAT KOIS CAME IN DIFFERENT SPECIES AND VARIETIES OR THAT THERE ARE KOI FARMS IN JAPAN, BUT THANKS TO THIS VIDEO I NOW DO. I REARED SOME FISHES A FEW YEARS BACK AND THIS VIDEO HAS GIVEN ME THE DRIVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN. THANKS AGAIN FOR SUCH AND INFORMATIVE VIDEO.
When you wrote this it was 2019😞 I miss when the world was normal and happy
When I lived in Honolulu in the 1960s, I attended an international koi show and one koi sold for over a million dollars! I can’t imagine what that would be in today’s dollars! Koi usually live 25-35 years but one lived to be 226 years old! The show champion in Hawaii when I went was supposed to have perfect markings- I’d like to think it’s still alive and just a very old koi!
here is the story:
www.hanakokoi.com/
$1,000,000 for a fish?!? That’s just madness!!
226 years any explanation for this lmao
@@wren1024 it just amazes me that koi of all things could live that long
38:50 " what how carefully they introduce these expensive koi into the indoor pond water" ... and the guy just lobs the fish hahahahaha
🤣🤣🤣 I am DYING!
i loled.
thats why I had to point it out, I watched the whole thing from beginning to end and this part was funny
*YEET*
😂
The title intrigued me, because many years ago, probably 20 years by now, I was a flight attendant, I had a flight to Osaka. I wanted to buy Koi and somehow I had an address were a Koibreeder lived. In the outskirts of Osaka.
It was amazing and I bought twelve small Kois. Two of them didn't survive the long trip home and another two died within the first week in my pond. But the other 8 lived many years. I was very proud of them, though they were not prize winners.
Honestly, surprised at how good this video is - props to Sacramento Koi and the person who made this video, honestly, you've done a perfect job, I'm mesmerized.
I've watched this video 5 times in the last year, enjoy it a lot. very relaxing and the full story is told.
Why am I here? I have a test tomorrow. I'm not even interested in koi. Why can't I stop watching?!?!
B Brewster good luck on your test!
Same here dude same here
They are beautiful and fascinating; also relaxing to watch. It is good to take a break from studies, you will do well on your test. Best of luck!
That's what happens when you find a beautiful, well-made video.
So relaxing to watch
I watched the whole thing without realizing how much time has passed. And I dont even truly care about koi. Beautiful
It’s 2 in the morning in England and I watched all of this, I have just found a love for koi and this helped so much to expand my knowledge. Thanks so much
What an amazing documentary on a taste of japanese culture - the people, the koi, the food, and the hospitality. You have a wonderful job!
"Watch how carefully they introduce these expensive koi into the new, indoor pond water..." *man lobs the fish into the pool like a bean bag*
:D
u made me laugh, bro kekw
true
lol just as I was about to type this , I read your comment 😂
Rural Japan looks like it would be a really neat place to live
Come visit! You'll love it here. :)

Crappy weather for most of the year, but when it's nice, its really nice.
It does look beautiful, makes think of some areas in WA, USA I use to live. Minus the shrines.
Very kind of you. Wish I did that when I was young. Instead of chasing the American dream-lie. Instead I saved more than I needed and then got ripped off. I do love my Mirage car and Toyostove but most wish I met a Japanese girl....It is very cool that Man would make a pet from a fish. I feel it important to consider other life to be healthy.
This is the second video I have watched on visiting Japan and shopping for Koi. They are beautiful fish and such a wonderful challenge to pick the ones you want. They are amazing for such variety and how large they can grow. You are so blessed to be in this business which you obviously love and experience the journey every year. As I have parrots and collect tropical plants I am not really in a position to expand into these fabulous fish. I appreciate the great job your camera crew did on capturing the trip and taking us along.
I think RUclips knows me better than I know myself. I love koi fish, but never thought to watch documentaries on RUclips about them. I couldn't be any happier right now. Beautiful video!
I don't remember what path I followed to watching this video, but I can't stop thinking about how interesting it was. Really interesting presentation even for someone that doesn't necessarily have an interest in keeping Koi.
It’s a Sunday night, dreading Mondays early starts so I’m sat here watching a man pick fish, I’m loving life!
Just been told my 94 year old dad has covid-19, this has helped to calm me as I process this devastating news. Thank you
so u r like 60 yrs old and still on youtube
Joan Weightman I am sorry hoping for the best for you
Wishing for the best
Is your father ok?
Fake news
I have such a deep appreciation for Japanese culture. This amazing video and education into the world of Koi, has opened a whole new vista I could never have imagined. Also your detailed narration helped to really bring the visuals to a much higher level of understanding. I’ve been to Japan once, after seeing this video a return trip is a must. Thank you again. Great job. I’ve
I'm not even interested in Koi fish but I can't fall asleep. So here I am watching this. You too?
Woojong with the Word watch joe pera talks you to sleep
Woojong with the Word same here at midnight.
24hrs no sleep
Lol 4.32 am here and trying to sleep watching this😂😂😂
Yeah HAHAHAHAHA
The amount of respect the Japanese culture has for everyone is really amazing.
Japan is the opposite of China
@@juicysmoye4758 Not really. Respect for everything is also an important part of chinese culture.
@aaronfisher2182 Clearly you've never lived there. There are no laws prohibiting racial, ethnic, or religious discrimination. The country also has no national human rights institutions.
Unless it's WW2 Japan.
Communism is cancer of the world
There is a level of coziness to this that keeps me rewatching.
Personally, I love, love, love koi fishes. I love the fact that they are so meek and they allow you to touch them and even hold them. If I was in your place, I would not be able to sell even one. I would keep them for myself to enjoy. Of course, I would be out of business before I start. Lol. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy watching them. : )
I have never met a koi in my life, I don't have a garden, and here I am debating if I really need my bathtub, or if I could turn it into a koi pond.
You, too? lol
A koi tub
Or buy a fish tank
Adam Rebello
Koi’s are too big for a tank
@@meganproffitt424 there are many fish tanks in the market that will let you keep a few koi's with enough space for them to grow at the end of the day it comes down how big a tank you have and it better then the bathtub for sure 😂 ✌🏼
I have absolutely no interest in Koi, but this kept me fasicantated for the entire film. You guys sure do love your fish. Also, I want to see Terry's 50,000 gallon tank.
Wonderful documentary, even 2 years after filming. I felt like I was there with you. This is truly exceptional piece of filming about experiences I wish I would be able to have myself one day.
Thank you, this was an exceptional video. It brings back some very happy memories of visiting Sacramento Koi...30? Years ago? I was involved with NW Koi in Portland, and one of our members, George, relocated to work with you. It is nice to see after so many years, that you still run an exceptional organization.
I would like to see a follow up video of "What happens in our facility when the koi arrive from Japan."
that's what i was looking forward to at the end of the video.. but yea. still cool video.
I love finding well done educational videos like these. I learned so much in 57 minutes.
What a great video. I have a whole new appreciation for koi. Who knew there were several kinds. The Japanese breeders seem so gracious. Really liked the narration.
This is a spectacular video. I find my way back to it about once a year and one thing has remained constant throughout that time: I have stayed inspired to someday get a pond of my own full of gorgeous fish like this.
As an american aquarist that is also obsessed with Japanese culture and travel, this video made my day. Beautifully shot and well presented...thank you.
Your profile picture is adorable
learned so much about this koi business; i particularly liked the way you detailed your journey from start to end; it gave me a feeling that i was on the same trip; clear visual and audio
It’s always incredible to see a master at their craft. Whether it be an artist making a painting, a mechanic fixing a car, or koi breeders making beautiful fish, there’s just something about it that’s amazing to watch
Thank you, your team and Koi Farmers for the effort and clarity you've bought to understanding koi farming, purchasing, shipping etc. Well done. It is a lovely video well worth watching!!
38:54 ''watch how carefully they introduce these new koi, into the new pont water'' *DUNKS THE FISH IN THE WATER*
Beer Buntenbach 🤣😂
lol
Ploink.
Some english carp fisherman ....... buy the fish xmas presents and manicures , and spend the family holiday money trying to catch them, TRUE LOVE!
Can you make another video like this for your next trip? It was really entertaining to watch. :)
exactly my idea
That was a really fascinating look at the Koi trade, I'm not even a fan until now but fascinated by the variety and depth of the hobby.
watching during karl’s live
IDK why this showed up on my feed, but I'm glad I watched it. So interesting.
Great video, it made me want to purchase some koi fish. Nicely done I don't know why someone wouldn't like the video. I'm not even a koi person but this video was just very well put together and the fish so colorful I could stop watching.
The dislike this video are the one who loves cat fish
In watching this one for the 5th time (During last 2 years). Most informative Koi video out there. Thank you!
I was watching a completely unrelated video and this video happened to been to be part of that. I was so interested in that brief snippet that I had to find this video to watch it. It was honestly amazing, I had no idea how many breeds of koi there were, or how expensive they could be! So many beautiful fish, scenery and food, that trip must be the height of business and pleasure!
I know this is about KOI but it's a fantastic video just for Japan itself. A wonderful country with wonderful people.
You need great politician for good people and for the good county.
For someone who don’t have the patient for fishing, doesn’t own a single fish and absolutely can’t see how “beautiful” a fish is; I find myself watching a butt load of fish video and subscribing to a lot of them. This documentary was super interesting and am glad it finally became a recommended video.
I am just starting to grow koi on my backyard so this is really cool to see how expensive and precious they are
Taht was hands down one of the most interesting RUclips videos I have ever seen. What out of the box thinking, on your business model. Thoroughly entertaining. Thank you all for your efforts.
This video has turned me on to how beautiful these Koi are. Thank you so much for genuinely translating your passion, and sparking one in me.
Wow... The Quality of this Video is so stunning. It could easily be presented in television. And there was pretty much Information too. Like!
Yes. I feel like watching documentary instead of vlog..
I am an australian koi enthusiast and this documentary was amazing thank you very much !! your a lucky man !!
Thank you for this wonderful insight. What a great way to make a living. It may have been a business trip but the sense I got was a fundamental love and respect for both these beautiful fish and the great people who raise them, first and foremost
"Watch how carefully he introduces his expensive koi into their new pond" *throws fish into the pond *
Koi eladó
I was going to write that lol
Anyone else love Steve? He just reminds me of my grandfather and I mean that in a good way, just want to hear him talk and feel an ember of joy in my heart again.
I can’t wait to get my first koi. Buying a house right now and first thing I’m doing there is making my pond. I love these videos and they help me when finding out what I’m going to purchase first.
This is the best Japanese Koi documentary that I've ever watched !!!
Thank you 😀🇨🇦✌️
Hands down.. the best Koi related vid on RUclips... simply Brilliant!
"Look at how carefully they introduce the new koi into the ponds" *guy literally tosses the fish in with a splash*
Same thing hahahaha
38:55 lol
lmfao I knew this comment had to exist already
just trow it...haha
XD I was gonna comment that
Japanese delicate handling of the fish is work of art. Their passion and dedication of their craft is unparalleled.
Everytime i think about made or produced japan product -- i think about quality.
It's 3:00 a.m. and I've seen the whole video. Very good production... many details that most would not share. Thank you and congratulations! You deserve more than 5 million views.
That Tancho Kujaku looks like a living work of art omg. the one with one orange spot and the black scaling behind it
Thank you very much for sharing this. You cannot help but feel the love you have for koi when watching this. I really liked the stills of all the people who breed koi and the details for what type of koi they specialize in. This really personalized the video experience. Best wishes to you with your business.
Thank you for this video, wake up so early 4am and spent so much time and travel to buy Koi, Respect your efforts. 7am already ready,I see Tancho,Kujeko, Shiri koi beautiful ,I see every koi also beautiful,I watched your videos until finished then I comment and join you
I’m one of the lucky ones to live in my inherited grandmas house which has a beautiful koi pond and waterfall room, currently I own 7 koi fish and looking for more!
I really recommend building your own koi pond! It’s delightful to watch them swim and swim and swim. ☺️
This was such, and probably one of the most intriguing video's I've watched in a very long time. I learned a bunch of new things that have never occurred to my ignorant mind. I've always loved watching Koi in a pond and this video made them even more fascinating than ever. Now I want a Koi pond.
Like everything you do, Steve, this video is a class-act; polished, impressive and full of Light. I love it.
mrs chynawhite so you must only have 3 sets of clothing because any more would be a waste and should be given to those less fortunate right? And you only eat your exact caloric intake needs or else you're wasting food! fool.
with production subsidized by Starbucks ?
I watched this video from start to finish 3x already... your voice is very relaxing and clear. The video is so informative as well
Keep coming back to this a few times a year. It's just so chill to listen to.
I've been keeping Koi and Goldfish for 25 years. And this is probably the best RUclips video I've ever seen on the Japan buying process. I've never had the chance to go, but it's on my bucket list of things to do in life. Great video and I hope there is more to come.
Anthony's Outdoors check my red cap oranda gold fish on my channel...thank you!!! 😊
I'm not really into all the Koi, but I've been brought up around them ever since I was born. My mother's fiancee travels to Japan twice a year and we have a few hundred Japanese Koi. They are very gorgeous, fascinating fish.
One of the best video i watched. in almost a month of my home quarantine because of covid19. It was fascinating to see those type koi in Japan for the first time. Definitely the men choose & got the perfect Koi.
What an absolutely lovely video, made even more pleasant by your thoughtful and generous narration. Thanks so much for sharing this journey as well as your love for these beautiful creatures!
I have really enjoyed watching this video. We bought a house with a pond that has koi. I know next to nothing about them . Taking care of the pond is my job though & feeding them as well. It's all a huge learning curve. We have 3 large ones & lots of smaller ones. I love watching them on a summer evening.
This video was absolutely amazing. Thank you SO much for taking us along with you on your koi buying trip. I've never had this experience myself, but would jump on the opportunity in a heartbeat. Noticed a few midorigoi in some of the holding tanks I would have gone for... they are my weakness. :) The gin rins are also truly stunning no matter their type.
I've planned on building a koi pond for some time and this is just more motivated. These fish are beautiful!
This was a fantastic video thanks for sharing it. The narration is spot on! This whole thing is by far the best fish vid on youtube.
Some of the Koi were so Beautiful I cried
saw this video and was like "oh that would be a cool 15 minute video to watch"
Then realized it was almost an hour long video... my day was made *_*
Thank you for a fun and relaxing film on koi and koi breeders in japan.
Really interesting video. I've been visiting my wife's family in Niigata every year for the last 15 years, but haven't taken the opportunity to go to any of the nearby koi farms. I plan to build a pond at home in San Francisco this year, so.... your videos are quite helpful for when I decide to choose my fish :)
