Really makes me appreciate my 1979 F-100 and how easy it is to work on it when it does need attention
This is an understatement.
same with my 61 corvette
This video was great! For once, I actually had everything I needed to get the job done in one session. It took me about 3 and a half hours to do this myself, but it resolved my engine misfire issues. Thanks for posting!
WOW ! Great video. Convinced me not to attempt this on my own. You are really detailed and I am sure have help many do the job right or like me, get a mechanic to handle the job.
Man thank you for this video, got the plugs changed just fine just as you showed! Awesome thanks for the directions!!
after watching this vid, took me about 2 hours start to finish to change the plugs on my 2012 Edge limited 3.5 L...much thanks...
T Nicholas trying to debate if I want to pay some one to do it on my 13 I could do it but looks like a pain to do it
@@mariettadashcam6857 in my neck of the woods, paying a pro to replace the plugs is probably a $250 job...it only cost me $25 for the Motorcraft OEM plugs. The toughest part was disconnecting and reconnecting the hose that connects to the pcv valve in back of the manifold (around the 17:00 minute mark of the vid)...super awkward location...
Thank you!
I started getting a misfire on my ‘13 Edge. Thing has 230k miles with factory plugs. So I figured it was time. Your video made it possible and now my daily is back in tip-top shape.
Thank you so much :)
I have a 14 edge, I love my car- spark plugs gave out at 120k- I hope to keep her going another 100k miles.. I’m nervous to change it but excited to learn
I have a 2013 Edge and have to change my plugs soon. What a pain in the butt it is to get to them. When I had a Tauras it was so easy, the plugs were right there and you didn’t have to take all the crap off. Thanks for the informative video
Still a relevant how-to video in 2023. Thanks for the excellent attention to detail. Plug clips and friction clips are so finicky. So, you thatking the time to show that is great. I just replaced the myford touch sync 2 digitalizer on my 2013 edge and the interior design is just as absurdly crammed together and running over itself as under the hood it seems. You've been a great help!
I follow the video and all these directions you gave watch it over and over again and I change my spark plugs great videos my SUV runs great now thank you for your advice and your expertise
Glad it helped
Great video. Made the job so much easier. My son and I got the job done in 2 hours. If you take your time it isn’t as bad as it seems. Motorcraft plugs come gapped at .051. We did replace the gasket and PVC value also. We also disconnected the battery.
Thank you
Good quality video and I like that you showed how to remove tabs without force or breakage. Solid video
Thanks for the video...just did the plugs on my wife's 2013, took me just over 2 hours.
This was the best video. Worked perfectly on my 2011 Edge. Note: if you over torque the intake bolts even by a little bit, they will snap.
Thank you for a very well documented video and not skipping any steps in the process was able to follow video easily and replace the spark plugs. First time I’ve ever had to do this in depth of an auto tear down so again, keep up the great work and video quality. The hardest part of the entire process was trusting my calculations from inch pounds to foot pounds and setting my torque wrench up correctly 😂
Just a quick thanks for the video. Been working on my own vehicles for years, but seems more and more I’m having to look up how to do once basic things, like changing spark plugs. Took almost 3 hours, but it’s done, and your video really helped. Thanks again.
Thanks a lot, I change the spark plug on my car by myself succesfully because of you. Great video. Make more please!
You are a good mechanic and teacher. You also do good on your camera shots.😊
This was a great video. Thank you. I changed my plugs today, and a coil pack to solve a P0301 error code.
Thank you. Best video out there. The how to close ups of the clip removals are GOLD INFORMATION!!
Hello my friend, Thank you so much for the help. I just wanted to tell you something about that troublesome back hose. I could not get it back on!!!!!. So I put a 4 1/2 inch in place of the 2 1/4 and stretched out the end with a punch, put the after market hose clamp on and tightened it up after installation. Worked perfect.
This was super helpful. Successfully changed out my plugs and ignition coils following this expert tutorial!
Just did mine today great Referance Thank you.. While I was back there I changed that PVC valve as well the local guy quoted $275 just do the valve...
Thank you for the video. Even here at the end of 2020, it's still very relevant and was my "go-to" reference piece. I tackled this project on my daughter's 2012 Ford Edge SEL 3.5 the day after Christmas. Even changed the "pita" PCV valve and changed the oil.
Everything I needed to know for changing the plugs on 2012 Edge. Thanks for excellent video and narration.
Best 'How To' video I have ever seen, what a great job...!!!
Thank you for this video I just got done replacing the spark plugs everything went smooth
My friend and I are drinking makers 46 and enjoying your work. Keep it up brotha (we have a Lincoln to fix)
Your camera work is great
Thank you for taking the time to make this video, it was well done and helped me a lot. 👍
I’m surprised you didn’t disconnect the battery before unplugging those electrical plugs. Glad you didn’t have to drop the engine to get at those back plugs!
Great video! Was able to follow every one of your steps and get my plugs and gasket changed! THANKS!!!!!
Thank you for the video! It was a huge help and couldn’t have done it without you.
Jesus this is the biggest pain in the ass to change spark plugs out of any car I've ever had. Wow. Thank you for the video though, this would have been even worse to go in blind.
typical piece of shit ford that is hard to work on. the break boosters fail on these too and they are a huge pain in the ass to replace.
@@jawaring4367 Just today replaced brake booster. 2013 Edge with 112,000 miles. Cussing was excessive.
Very methodical video! Thank you!
I bought the Ford 3.5 tune up kit on ebay. All Motor craft plugs and coils and intake gaskets for $180. Gonna do this on the weeknd as im at 120k and been having some hesitation when its raining in the 45mph 1500rpm range
Have you connsidered joing the MacTfordEdge group on FB??
@@Brownnproud91 Ill joint it right now and BTW. That tune up fixed my issue. Also just did new struts at 120k. Made a HUGE Difference.

Thank you for this video, that hidden bolt for the upper intake plenum would have probably put me
in the loony bin if it weren't for you ! I wonder how many good mechanics broke the eye off or broke
the intake plenum trying to get it out without removing that bolt, I was having such anxiety thinking
about changing those rear plugs, but your video showed it to be a bit complex but not that bad, at 65
years old and not rushing it took me three hours, engine now runs like silk, Thanks Again !
Job well done, I love seeing someone doing a spark plug replacement the proper way by not using anti seize, it's just a myth that is dying hard.
who tf puts antiseize on spark plugs? I've never seen than in two decades of automotive work.
@@jawaring4367 You're on RUclips, simple search.
Your video made an intimidating process very easy . Thanks bro . I did subscribe to your channel
Thanks for the video because you successfully convinced me to take it to a shop lol. The first 3 are easy, but man the back 3 are nightmare.
If I am gonna buy a new vehicle, parts replacements is definitely a concern.
Thanks for this video. I just got an estimate for spark plugs/labor - $560. from Ford dealer - WT? (car in for driver side rear bearing) they sent me a list of things I should take care of.. I will be shopping around with that handy list now… thank God I work for the electric company and make good money😵🥺🤪
This is very similar to the mkZ. Thanks
Im crying after finding out its going to be my first pain in the ass tune up ever!!!
Im about to do this job on our 2013 Edge thank you for sharing!!
Muchas gracias excelente trabajo y muy buena explicación
My first time doing this for my Daughter car.
Awesome video and thank you. just replaced plugs on my 2013 edge 3.5. No need to gap OEM motorcraft plugs as they are right and claim non gap adjustable on box. after 102k miles my used plugs were gapping @ .60k trickiest part was that lower right side support bolt for intake. Does not appear to mate intake to block, just aids in support of far right side of intake I think. Yes, took your advice and replaced rear spring clamp on breather hose with round screw clamp. super helpful video.
Great Video. keep up the good work. Took me 3.5 hours.
Did you have to reprogram the ECU after disconnecting it ?
Great video. You covered everything. Thanks
.049-.053 is the gap for those looking.
I know he mentions it but easy access.
2013 Ford Edge 3.5l
Holy crap. Thanks a ton for posting this video!......gonna take it straight to my mechanic. Lol
I have a question about your 3.5L Ford Edge spark plug replacement video. What is on your iPad? Where can I find a procedure manual and also while I am in there I want to do a fuel injector flush/clean...where can I find that? Dealer wants over $800 to do this, plus what it would cost to rent a car... thanks in advance
Great help. Thank you!
quick question... I've watched 2 different videos of this job, as I'm just getting ready to begin the adventure, and it looks like both of you left the battery connected throughout the operation. Is there a reason behind this? Unplugging the main wiring harness scares me with the electrical system still connected.
I know I'm 8 months late. But if you still have your edge and any questions answered. There is a group on Facebook called MACT FORD EDGE. it's an excellent group if you have any questions about your vehicle.
Thank you it was very helpful
Great video good job
What tool are you using to depress those tabs and should disconnect the battery also???
Is this the same concept for a 2011 Ford Edge Sport? Pretty sure this is why my car has progressively gotten worse with the sputtering. Don't think it's the fuel pump ( gawd I hope not)
thanks again i got to do it again coil went bad thanks
Also if you're replacing coil packs or have a misfire and trying to figure out which is which.

Changed my spark plugs last year using this video then I started getting another misfire this year, so I just changed the coils. Car starts for a second then shuts off, put old coils back in and same problem. Went through this vid many times to see if I missed a step but I didn’t. Any ideas?
How long does it take to do this, my head is already hurting.
Hi from Brazil!
Hello there!
Good video👍🏻
Awesome video!
Is this also for a 2014 Ford Edge?
Probably if it is a 3.5L V6, it’s what I came here for. Learned I’m not attempting that mess on my own
Yes
Thank you
How would we know if we did it right
great vid. however, now i realize i just don't wanna do this - don't have the patience, tools or the confidence. How much is a local mechanic gonna charge me to do it?
Damn my wife needs this done soon on her MKX, still not as tough my Lexus though!
am I the only one who is watching this and realizing how difficult this process seems?
Yup paying someone 😂
Omgsh I said same. I was like “I guess it’s just me” but feel comfort in seeing both your comments 😂🤣
Yeah started with installing the first three then put old ones back in.
I'll be tackling this job in a few days...Thx
Yeah I’ll never complain about a 2.5L flat 4 on my Wrx ever again
which gasket has to be changed in order to do this job?
Just the upper intake manifold gaskets. U may be able to reuse them. If you feel the rubber gasket is raised from the surface of the manifold, they should be ok. But yes, new gaskets would be best.
How much torque is used in 21 minutes, thank you.
Got a 2010 Edge Limited with repeated Check Engine still/after replacing OEM 6 Spark Plugs, 6 Coils & PCV. Is Spark Plug #5 in center (1:44)?
Again, still getting P0122/P0174/P0205/P0223/P0305/P2110 from BlueDriver. Anyone knows the fix or answer what to do next?
Just helping a person with ALS. She was hit hard with the bills from Ford.
Has only 78k.
I thinking of Fuel Injector #5 or ECM.
Maybe with some tools, some practice, is not a big deal. But if it is the first time, thats different! What i do is writing the order and take photos to remember the order later.... Thats better than change the water pump $2000 workshop labor!
Half way down the video I feel lile crying 😭😭😭
Most likely going to a mechanic to be done. Not like the old days of replacing plugs.
Oh my god those back plugs are sure hard to access
I am at approximately 110,000miles...Makes me want to sell the car seeing this.
What's this job at a shop? $500?...$600??
Just curious dude.
So does ford not expect the spark plugs to ever be changed ?? What a pain in the as## just to get to the plugs I guess they want u to send it to the junkyard and buy a new car😒
The Ford engineers that made this simple task so complicated should be ashamed of themselves. I’ve been changing plugs for 45 yrs and have never seen such stupidity; it’s laughable and sad for Ford owners.
Why would Ford do dis
everything on this engine is hard to work on and fails regularly. fuck ford, for real.
What a Joke. I'm sorry I bought this car
🤦
Why would you replace the spark plugs on a 5 year old vehicle? =/ waste
Probably had over 100k... not waste!!
Compared to what? Buying a whole new vehicle?
Mine is throwing a misfire code .. I have 135,000 miles. Definitely not a waste.
Thank you so much for this video
Thank you for video. Helps me out alot.
