Happy to have these to watch, I was totally lost, and at first it seemed like things were just way over complicated, but now I see that once things are set up, then all the programming options are far easier, I just need to retain all this stuff.
When laying out in the visualizer, can I fan the fixtures from the first or last light in the selected heads? The goal being to have head 101 stay where it is, and the rest of the heads fan away from that point?
Following this video, I have 5 fixtures patched. I cannot arrange them as you did here. They show up as a black dot in the center, and all on top of each other. I've just followed through this several times with the same result?
You can request new fixtures for the library here: secure.chamsys.co.uk/bugtracker/bug_report_advanced_page.php all we need is the DMX chart or channel map for the fixture. You can also use our fixture finder to locate fixtures: secure.chamsys.co.uk/fixturefinder/
MagicVis only runs directly on the MQ500M console, other consoles you need to network to your PC running the MagicVis software to connect the visualiser (the PC does the graphical processing).
Is there a way to turn off auto groups in patching? If I have a bunch of custom head groups the default auto groups clutter up my groups tab with no other way to get rid of them except for manually deleting every single auto-group in the rig.
If using multiple universes we'd recomend using an Artnet Node (something like one of these www.chauvetprofessional.com/products/net-x-ii/) you can send the data to the node over a single network cable.
Go to the 'tools' menu at the top of the MagicQ window and select 'change files location' and make sure MagicQ is storing your files in your documents folder. Also note that MagicQ doesn't support non uk keyboard characters in the PC username.
This will be as in your settings you have setup > View Settings > Keypad Encoders > Keypad Syntax - Theatre Patch set to 'yes'. Change this to no and then try again.

Thanks for the feedback!
How do i create a patch from a start when the
light has no official patch.

At present the vis will fan out from the centre point - we can for sure add a feature request to expand this in future though!

What are the 5 fixtures you are patching? When you go to the Patch > View Vis > Vis Heads window are you able to individually move heads in this view?
What to do if the fixtures that we are searching for is not present in the patch library?

How do I open the visualizer on the console? Or do I need to connect an additional monitor to view the visualizer?

Yes there is - select the 'auto palette' option on the X encoder, the group option is included within this menu.
@@ChamSysLtd Aha! Thank you so much. Lifesavers guys. :)
Using the software, how do the additional universes work? Thinking you buy a usb dongle for each one and run separate data?
If using multiple universes we'd recomend using an Artnet Node (something like one of these www.chauvetprofessional.com/products/net-x-ii/) you can send the data to the node over a single network cable.
@@ChamSysLtd thanks, I actually already have one of those, so each number then represents the universe number? Super appreciate your fast response.
@@waynenocton No problem. with a 1-1 mapping then yes would get Universes 1 to 8 from MagicQ out of the Net-X.
@@ChamSysLtd one more question, to connect a midi controller, what minimum equipment is required? I’m hearing any of your blue hardware correct?
@@waynenocton To use a Midi Controller (Midi Notes) with MagicQ you would need our 'rack mount dongle' to unlock this functionality.
How can I patch the fixture that is not in file. I have Vshow T911 beam .
You can request new head files via our bugtracker here: secure.chamsys.co.uk/bugtracker/view_all_bug_page.php
Hello, I have a small problem in that when I click on choose head it just says "no files match". Does anyone know how to fix this ?
Thank you.
Go to the 'tools' menu at the top of the MagicQ window and select 'change files location' and make sure MagicQ is storing your files in your documents folder. Also note that MagicQ doesn't support non uk keyboard characters in the PC username.
@@ChamSysLtd Now when I click on choose head it doesn't show any text but only a black window.
@@kuban11155 Does your username contain any non UK characters on your computer?
@@ChamSysLtd It's working now. I think the problem was in the computer name. Thank you for your help.
@@kuban11155 Glad its sorted now.
When I go to Patch It, I can't patch multiple fixtures at once. It says enter head number@uni-chan
