- In this tutorial I'll demonstrate some useful tips and tricks while working with MagicVis - free 3D visualiser that comes in a package with MagicQ software.
We'll learn:
- how to add objects
- types of objects
- object manipulation
- patching heads and attaching to truss
- adding Green background for keying [removing background]
- adding 3D models
Note: Sketchup allows you to export as DAE [collada file] so you can export like one and try to import into MagicVis Хобби
Thank you very much! This was really helpful. I used this to recreate the TV studio I am working. Your tips are spot on. It would have taken me way longer without this video! Thank you! Much love
Very cool. Its such great software. And I love your videos, they are super helpful.
Glad you like them!
useful video, learned something.
great and simple , thx)
Very usefull video. Is there any way to copy objets? i know i can copy heads and atributes, but how do i make varios copies of trusses when im in a large schenary and lots of them are gonna be similar. Thanks
Is it possible to move an object in the visualizer? Like opening/lifting a drape.
Thanks a lot!!!
2 questions:
1 - how do you place MH's on the ground and know what way they are facing?
2 - How do you apply focus to a non MH like a Par or Leko and is it possible to change the beam angle (narrow to wide etc.)
thanks for making these videos🙂
Thank you for continuing to produce such clear and helpful videos! Maybe it is my version (1.8.7.4) but I have to select Hang Type before I patch fixtures for them to show correctly positioned in Vis. Once placed, I cannot change the hang type, and have to delete the fixture and repatch for it to show correctly. Is this a change from your version in the video?
Glad they help. Please try the same on latest stable or beta. As u can see from my video - i can easily change hang type.
Also, normally you patch head first, and then change it’s or group’s hang type
Yes, that's what was so confounding- it simply does not allow the hang type to be changed on a selected fixture. It only applies the hang type to the next fixture that is patched. I'm on a new MQ70, with factory installed software version.
@@andrewkinsler9776 all mq50/70 were adviced to update to at least the latest version available for them. 1874 is old now.
Great, I will do that. Thank you!
Thank you again, might I ask what MagicQ software do you have. I do not see the little blue ovals on either side in mine.
1872 beta
A suggestion. When I select texture, the window will automatically appear in the File manager directly in the folder I need. For example if I select texture in Sheet it will throw me in the folder where I saved .jpg
If you select La Model texture, the file manager window will appear where the file should be
A great thank you but having eventually downloaded the software I am trying to get 1 simple bar with 6 lights but nothing is showing at all in the visualiser. Anyone else had high levels of frustration with this?
It easily can be issue with your hardware, specifically using inbuilt GPU, outdated graphics card drivers, weak/old GPU.
If it was an issue in the software it would have been reported and fixed immediately. What is your hardware spec? If u use PC, perhaps try to run with OLD RENDERER
@@chamsysrus thank you for your help. I will keep trying.
Hello, how can I get in with you please
How to upload a car model or other own object? Are these items available for download? I would like to add a sound system and stage platforms. Greetings
you can download them from some 3rd party websites or create your own one using any 3d creating tools like blender, Maya, 3ds max etc.
just save models as 3ds, obj, dae and you can import it into magicQ. the smaller the better. huge files might not work
Hi I tried to use the visualiser with my magic Q on Mac but it doesn't show anything in Vis. It always says searching console. How can I link them together?
On pc u have to turn off all firewall and make sure winsows allows magicvis on console u have to make sure in setup-multiconsole - first 2 options are yes
Hey thanks for the tutorial~~~
how can i make moving trusses?
There is nice tutorial about it on chamsys’s official page. Its about tracking system - they demonstate how u can make movable trusses
@@chamsysrus okay~~~~
Hi. Is it possible to have part of a circle truss? Just an arc?
yes, in view vis, attach object, select the truss, and scroll to the right side of the settings - u will find parameter cells. in one of them, type 180 - that will set circle to only half (180 degrees). or 90 (for a quarter arc)
@@azizadilkhodjaev3299 Thank you Aziz :-)
Can I edit the size of the beam that is projected on tha wall / drape? I gave 2 Sharphy beams but I can't see it very good on VIS... the wash is ok, but the beam are barely seen ... In reality the Beams are very powerful, the wash are lower power - but my simulation is opposite .... The greatest effects are made with beams and gobos .... but I cant see thme in VIS ... Any hint?
Any physical fixture stuff can only be changed by chamsys team. U can make a request with library on bugtracker, and my colleagues will reply with fixes
@@chamsysrus ok, thanks, I decide not to occupy their time for that, I have just 2 shaphy from China and I inserted manually ...is a lot of work... a long list of ranges to edit... I can Handle it without that view :)
@@chamsysrus I replace the gobo to see the position better, record positions, then change gobo and add prism ...when adding prism and gobos, the image that I see on VIS is barely seen ... but I put full open and I perfect ... white or color ... :)
This video is great to follow, it's explained like the old 'windows for dummies' very useful thanks 😊
how does this translate to a QuickQ 20?
Try it and you will see.
Fixtures will be in a vis. Patch will be in the console. U will just have to drag fixtures onto layout. Thats it
I use MagicQ on Win and Mac, but on Mac the visualizer is not transparent to see from back stage to the public... any Hint? how to make it transparent like windows do automatically when rotate 360 degrees ?
If i understood what you are saying, you might need “remove” the back wall. Do do this just add ROOM. In patch - view vis - attach object. And there make height to be 0. That way u will NOT have a back wall. Otherwise there shouldn’t be any difference in rendering objects in mac or windows unless of course uou have slow onbord gpu
is related to openGL option that is in MagicVis settings old rendering make it transparent in Windows, but the option new rendering make the Vis from Windows to look solid and not transparent like in MacOS.... but in MacOS i cant switch to old rendering... :)
@@cipisound correct! bingo! yes, old rendering engine cannot render certain object therefore you see it as seethrough, but on Mac - it renders solids as expected.
@@chamsysrus I think that Windows is smarter, because in WIN I can make it solid or transparent...but Mac is a rigid OS or the software is not as good as one from WIN...maybe MAC is restricted... closed system to protect himself from other.... always MAC was closed and rigid, but also beautiful design and also good quality aluminium and glass ... but in my mind, MAC is for medium level, high end user will work on Win... and Mac :) the Alder Lake-P 12.700H crush the M1 Max ....
@@chamsysrus I have a setup with DJ and some people in front, I move one people behind the scene, but is still solid that wall
