Made a fool of myself at the panel when I asked if they had done other Machinema work, oy vey. :P
Why is there so much confusion? It's obviously in the past because:
1. Washington is wearing his normal armour
2. York is still alive
3. The end says "Before Red Vs Blue there was project freelancer"

Strange seeing what made it into the actual season 10 and what didn't. Agent Maine wasn't thrown off a cliff after being shot in the throat, and they DIDN'T fail the objective. And what's with the shot of the Agent Texas horde? lol
They're the RVB version of RWBY S1's shadow people? Maybe?
those were insurrectionists and the majority of that conversation was not canon
The fight scenes were made before the episodes for the season were made

It will definitely be fascinating to see what happened with Project Freelancer before Tex was assigned to a box canyon in the middle of nowhere. I'm especially interested in how the individual agents interacted with each other whilel they were still on the same side, so to speak.

1 question though; I thought York's eye injury occured after they got the AI implants?
I'm dumb stricken by what I just witnessed I've never been so excited for a show I watch on the web.

@SpartanD419 Following the showing on this preview Burnie stated that they would continue the Reds and Blues story, but would also be showing the origins of Project Freelancer as well. So it should be a perfect fit for all types of RvB fans whether they like plot or comedy.

Think how epic this season will be, its gonna have agent maine's backstory of how he went insane, director church's face (maybe) and the creation of A.I. church. Yes im going to miss the reds and blues but I personaly think this is going to kick shizno ass!

season 8 ended with epsilon saying: "I don't know why the director did what he did".
either this season is a prequel of everything or it begins with the project freelancer events and it continues with our favorite guys spending their time at the new bloodgultch. Either way I hope this season is what I think it is. And I think it's an animation show that will have 40 minutes episodes like Clone Wars.

Did anyone else notice that the medic was voice by Matt? I got to remember that RvB's timeline doesn't necessarily reflect the games. I saw Reach and New Mombassa there, but I'd love to see how they fit into the story. It sounds like half the series will be based in Epsilon's memory version of Blood Gulch and the actual memories of Washington, Tex, and maybe even the Director.
I'd like to see how Wash adjusts to the Reds and Blues though.
I could identify most of the cutscenes and areas that they used to film this, but it seems like they are going to do a TON of original settings, this'll be a season with a lot of new CG, I can safely say I'm looking forward to it.
Okay come on guys! They did the machinima thing for years! Let them experiment! This looks epic!

@GageAndrist13 : They've hired their own animator who creates those scenes. Season 8 used a mix of hand-animated and motion-capped scenes as well as traditional in-engine recorded scenes.
This Season may spawn a new era for Roosterteeth and RedVsBlue! If there's really this much more animation added to their show; which used to by strictly video game clips, it could eventually become a T.V. show on Adult Swim! If bad shows like Squidbillies and Superjail made it to T.V., then RedVsBlue is a must! Let it happen Roosterteeth! Your more popular then EVER!

@UNSCmarine51 Tex was just another AI, remember. And she was based on Allyson, Leonard Church's lady friend that died. And from the voice, I'd say that the pilot of the pelican was Allyson. The three were Maine (later Meta), Washington, and York, in order of appearance in the trailer.

There better be a season 10 to rap this all up, ill die if this is strictly a prequel.

Season nine released in the summer. That's what I've been saying for months, but some morons still ask if they're gonna make more Red vs Blue.
Looks like we've got a mix of Halo 3 and Halo Reach designs. Jeff Williams, who does the music, is brilliant. Major props to Monty.
Looks like there's going to be a lot more action this season. I can't wait. :D
@Funnelpie It's all OK. I'm not suprised that you didn't see the Rooster Teeth PAX 2011 pannel, so I'll sum it up. Season 9 of Red vs Blue is going to tell the backstory of the freelancers AND forward the story of the Reds and Blues. Don't worry, it's going to be their best season yet!
I actually like this, it might even be a tribute-kind thingy to Reach, the latest game tells us the story before the beggining, this tells us something smilar..as the Reach box said, Every Legend has a Beggining.
Also it seems that Mounty has learned some new tricks XD

from what i heard,berney said half the season would focus on the freelancers and half would focus on continuing the story from where revelation left off
The purple one is south dakota, the darker one is probably north dakota. They both were slightly different in "recovery one" miniseries Cant wait!
@edtheranger They were shown a bit. There was the scene with Epsi-Church standing in bloodgulch, and then those rocks falling on Red Base. They will be in the season, but it seems like thier role will be reduced. This is Project Freelancer's show now... and it is going to be awesome.

@ReconGuni Don't worry, they are. The description under the trailer on the website says that they are back. If you remember at the end of Revelation, Washington joined the blues, so I'm thinking that these are the stories that Wash is telling them. And we'll probably go back and forth between that, and Church inside the Epsilon unit trying to find Tex. Idk though, that's just a guess.

If your talking about the purple soldier at 3:59, then no. That's Agent South. You can tell because she has a green secondary color. She was in Out of Mind and Reconstruction if you need reference.
Whoever thumbed this down doesn't deserve air. There is simply no excuse.

@Itirami Just because trailer is entirely animation doesn't mean the series will abandon machinima entirely. Also, Meta a robot? I don't think anyone else has ever considered that.

Maybe. There was a clip of Reach Church. However, looks like they're mostly making a scratch-built CGI season. With Reach maps as template fro the locations. And Halo 3 maps. And ODST campaign.

um never mind that it's likely they are going to put the original cast in. church is in the trailer at 3:57 while he's stuck inside the epsilon unit. my guess is the story is going to be told from the perspective of epsilon and his memories of project frelancer, and the memories wash had of it since he was in wash's head before he went crazy and saw washes memories.(since AI and the people they are with have a mental connection)

Red Vs Blue has 2 small mini series.
Out of Mind follows Tex after she went after Wyoming at the end of season 4.
And Recovery One introduces Washington and South Dakota.
O my gosh! This is going to be Sarge level of Epic! I mean looks like Tex is back and York didnt die (even tho I thought he did). Doc is going to fight? o.O

@ZeMovinPixxle I was thinking just about that but I have a major problem. The PC I own is 10 years old, so I can't do video editing on it. I'm surprised I could keep it alive this long. In the course of the next few days I will order the parts for a new PC because now I have the money. After I get it, Top priority is to install GTA 4 ( I've been dying to play it ) and Sony Vegas. After that it's all clear for the video analisys you asked about.
@Declan466 there was that clip with Epsilon Church in Reach-Gulch so I'm thinking the super awesome stuff is going to weave in an out of the funny events of the Reach-Gulch and the Blood Gulch crew.
@nightslash2121 There's also Meta,Tex,York and South. York was first in out of mind where that was about the episodes when Tex took off to chase Wyoming but dies,Then recovery one was Washington's first appearance along with South then became chars in reconstruction
@Carry2Sky You can, but the implication I got from Wash was that they haven't got their AIs yet.
I'm guessing it will be a series to continue more of the unexplained plot but as well as several Flash Backs with Washington and stuff like that considering he's on the Blue's team now, it makes sense kind of, but still pretty cool.

I cant fucking wait for Season 9!!! This might sound kinda weird but am I the only one that was really sad at the end of Season 8? When Church was trapped in a memory is the part that made me sad..
3:47 seems to be Tucker with his sword so it is likely and I believe confirmed by Burnie Burns that this season will go in and out of the Reds and Blues occurences and the history of Project Freelancer.

@Bigwood380 they use animations, but they also use the game for scenes and items. Although a lot more of it is animated, it is still machinima.

@pizzagrenade Monty has said he uses the game for back grounds and such in his CGI work so yeah they do still use the game

B: It is still machinima.
@CJWorksProductions well it makes sense, reach was a prequel to all, now season 9 of redvsblue will be a prequel to its story, i think the guys wanted it that way
So excited to see what the Freelancers were up to! MAybe, we'll get to see CArolina! I'm hoping if it is all a prequel, we'll at least see what the reds and blues were up to before blood gulch too!

@gunhearted Also, in Roosterteeth's website they have this same trailer up in HD, and in that trailer the whole "he fell off a cliff" was completely removed, edited out. This makes me think that this is supposed to be the past and they were defeated in a similar way as they did in season 8, but it was just a coincidence. Maybe the fact that they were so similar situations was meant to be the joke, but Roosterteeth realized how misleading it was and removed it.
I think this is a prequel AND a sequel. what happens at the begining with wash and the meta is a continuation to what happens at the end of season 8, but the whole "he probably will never speak again" explains why the meta only growls and stuff. the "he was shot and fell off a cliff' is literally what happened at the end of season 8, therefore i think what i going on is that this is happening INSIDE the epsilon unit, and that everything is scrambled up because wash mesd it up,thumbs up if u agre
