    I love my 3.0 and aquasky. The customization is really fun to tinker with. I like the sunrise and sunset feature built into the light. Personally never had an issue with the app or Bluetooth features and I like accessing all my lights from my phone.
    The co-op light seems like a quality light, but not having the customization or sunrise/set features are a no go for me.
    But to each their own! Like Cory says, you can’t please everyone! Loved the the video, the comparisons were really well done. Cheers!

Both AquaSky and Plant3.0 are excellent for planted tanks bc they have timers you can set via App! Can you use an inline timer with these like the Nicrew ones that plug in along the existing power cord or does it have to be one of the Wi-Fi outlet bricks? My number one pet peeve about lights is the giant plug in brick like we don’t all have them plugged into surge protectors. This looks nice, but that power brick is still huge. If I have to make it even bigger with a Wi-Fi outlet, that might be a dealbreaker.

    • @SteenfottAquatics

      The brick is the ac adapter not a surge protector. But i agree, i am not a fan of them being on the plug in. Im honestly not sure if you can use inline timers. I have never used one myself as i dont like nicrew.

    Have a question why does the co-op light make the sand more yellow looking than the beamswork 6500k. I personally have an Aqaneat light and it seems that the sand is whiter than Cory's light. Both of the other are no where in the same league as far as brightness and quality just curious why it has more of a yellow tint.

    • @SteenfottAquatics
      @SteenfottAquatics  6 месяцев назад

      The beamswork only has white leds. The coop light also has blue and red leds. The blue and red is what make the fish look better. In my opinion lights with only white leds wash out the colors on fish.

  • @somedude2455
    @somedude2455 Год назад +1

    This is great video Bob. I don’t think the Fluval light isn’t better than the AC light.
    The 36” Fluval light is very yellow toned. You can see it in your video. The Fluval light doesn’t have red leds, it has pink. If you look on the box of the AC light, the graph shows a lot of red. That’ll make a big difference in the colors of the fish and plants. The reds and purples of the Ludwigia arcuata will look orange and yellow. With the AC light, those plants were deep red. Another way to see the difference is with your Skull Creek Rainbowfish. I currently have a Chihiros WRGB II light on my Skull Creek Rainbowfish and their fins are have a deep red-orange coloration. When they were under a Fluval Plant 3.0, both the 36” and 48” versions, the fins were a light orange.
    The Fluval Plant 3.0 is very overrated and I hope the AC light shows that to more people. Now if Fluval makes a 4.0 version, and changes the pink leds for red ones, it would be an improvement. Currently though, it’s not worth the cost as I could get an AC light and kasa wifi timer for cheaper and have better colors in the fish and plants.

    • @SteenfottAquatics
      @SteenfottAquatics  Год назад +1

      Yes, that was my biggest complaint from the fluval 2.0 to the 3.0. The 2.0 had red leds. I actually have more 2.0s than 3.0s. That and the sketchy bluetooth/app was awful. When i say fluval my brain still goes to the 2.0. I think the coop light is the perfect mix of quality, features and price.

      @@SteenfottAquatics thanks Bob. I’ve only been keeping aquariums since 2020, so I never used the 3.0 version. I think the Fluval apps is fine, but that’s only because I have/had five lights total. It is annoying when the power goes out. I don’t need to support Fluval’s bad practices anymore with the AC lights out now.

      @@SteenfottAquatics Cory would have a win if it had a programmable sunrise/set function but I know he embraces simplicity (not a bad thing). For me, after having reef lights I can't really do with anything less than being able to ramp them up naturally.
      Also, saying you only test quality products is not true, you test free products for promotional value as you stated in your video. None of the other lights you compared have a 3yr warranty yet you tested them? I personally find hygger appealing because they cover the ramping lights without a garbage app. At half the price of coop they are cheap enough that I don't mind buying a new one if they fail.

    • @SteenfottAquatics
      @SteenfottAquatics  10 месяцев назад

      @@HerrWade Come on now, obviously a three year warranty is not the only deciding factor in quality. But since you brought it up, youre wrong, the fluval lights have a three year warranty. Hygger has offered me free products multiple times but i have turned them down every time due to their carnival model of business. They pump out as many new products as possible with little to no product testing. Just search amazon for hygger heaters, there are a myriad of models. No way are they testing them all. Just pumping out garbage as fast as possible. Might as well buy beamswork lights off ebay for even cheaper.

    I bought the cheap one that rhymes with Mountain Dew. I don't live in the US and can't buy the COOP light. It costs twice as much but has more than double the number of LEDs (255 to around 105) and a 3-year warranty so you are getting stuff for that extra money. If the cheap one dies after a year you would have been better off with the COOP light.... unless you didn't have $130. My $50 cheapo is only a few months old but works great so far, and it did spend at least ten minutes underwater and still works fine (after drying out). The COOP lights splits the price difference between the premium expensive lights like Fluval and the cheap ones, so now we have more choices. Value is a subjective concept and depends on the individual user, so people need to chill and watch their fish rather than go off on some rant about which light is best. Cheers for showing us what is out there so we can make up our own mind.
