  • Hamish has been living with difficult-to-control seizures since he was just 14. He recently sat down with us, alongside his mum Tracey and sister Alice, to share their story as a family with epilepsy.
"There's a lot of aspects to life that aren't very accommodating when they could be for people living with epilepsy," Hamish said.
"I've had to be more resilient, whilst I have the positive of my friends who are much more educated, they do a lot of things that I probably can't partake in."
Hamish’s diagnosis impacted his whole family, who suddenly had to contend with countless doctor’s appointments, concerns about his future, alongside feelings of jealousy, anger and grief. Like all families, they've faced ups and downs but Tracey feels they have come out stronger on the other side.
"As a family, we really have taken on epilepsy full-on. Epilepsy doesn't define you as a person. It's part of who you are," Tracey said.
