I'm sorry to ruin your life. But the 0.001 chances are not for the chute to fail, but for the whole thing to happen to you. Including both, chute failing ans you surviving to it.
So you’re saying if the chute fails, you’ve done the hardest part already? I like that reasoning, and I’m going to stick with it regardless of any contrary evidence.
My uncle had both chutes fail on him in 88, and survived a 15k ft drop. He still can’t walk right and has some minor cerebral damage, but it’s amazing to know he survived such a shocking statistic. He remains a positive and outspoken person To this day, 35 year later, and he loved this video!
After all these years I still enjoy watching this video when anxiety strikes. Idk why, but it helps me calm down and realise to not take everything too seriously
So, this is random since you posted this literally years ago, but it just occurred to me that this video actually saved me from breaking my legs and/or possibly dying while ziplining in Honduras. So, in the tourist city or Copan, one of the many things you can do is a ziplining course around the nearby mountains. It's a good time, but it's quite primitive as ziplining courses go. You're given gloves with metal half-pipes in the palms and taught how to break your self, what hand signals to look for, etc. Well, I'm a larger person (about 315lbs) and most people who choose to do this particular excursion are not that heavy, so the staff was not as accustomed to teaching someone my size what to do. I figured out pretty early on that I had to brake myself more aggressively than they were telling me because of my sheer mass making me move faster across each Zipline than most other folks and of course that increase in inertia compared to the others made it harder for me to slow down and stop. So, one one particular zipline, I realized I was going way faster than I should be and attempted to slow myself, but the instructor at the other end signaled me to speed up, so I did as he said and sure enough, that was the wrong call. As I got closer to the tree in front of me, I aggressively broke with little success to slow myself and immediately did a panic analysis of the situation and any information I had to save me from certain injury. This video came to mind and I used the advice about keeping my keep soft and not attempting to push against the ground. I used the advice, let my legs collapse beneath me as I hit the tree and escaped unharmed. So thank you! Your video saved at least one person (myself) from injury 😁

@Some characters aren't allowed Well isn't that because of test cases, there have been less people at the air fields, so the ratio could be incorrect, and not necessarily able to be compared to the road. Which has way more accidents, and fatalities, plus being so wildly assessable.
@@TheTrooper1878 slime block? why would anyone bring a slime block when skydiving(flying with elytra) in minecraft you need to use water but not a salty water cause salty water will definitely break your bones cause from that height you will break your bones or die its a 50/50 chance
Not really the part where he tells you how to land is only a few seconds over 75.25 seconds, so in reality you would be dead once or alive with broken legs learning how to survive... Obviously... Oh you didn't think of that.... Am I over analyzing this comment?
Why not hit water? Is it because you won't be able to swim after the massive hit? Or am I overestimating the shock absorbion of water? I understand belly flopping is a no no but if you go legs first into water it seems you would be better off than legs first into dirt. I understand compression and the great speed the maximum velocity of a human is. I know all that but seems like you'd still take your chances with water. Especially if you have a vest that allows you to float if knocked unconscious by hitting the water.
@@the_original_Bilb_Ono if you go down from like 12000+ meters in water you'd have more broken bones than the other 3 + even if you would survive you would be at the bottom of the lake without a swim vest probably
Advice like this is actually useful - in case you ever fall off a cliff etc. I got myself stuck on a ledge about 8 feet up in a cave earlier this year (In my defence, I was recovering from a paniciky adrenaline rush, just after falling off a pitch and being caught by my safety lines - so I'd literally just experienced falling off an actual cliff more than 10m high - so my brain was in a BAD place, and even though my friends tried to calm me down, it took me hours to fully recover my senses, so I blame that for what happened next). I chose to attempt a tricky traverse that I'd never done before, or seen anyone do in that direction, and had only experience struggling to cross when we came into the cave hours previously. Also the traverse line I should've been clipped into had been taken down and reused for a different sections of traverse, so there was literally no safety line??? I still do not understand why I thought it was a good idea. 😅 So I attempted to straddle the canyon and got about 2 feet before getting both wellies stuck on a tiny ledge on the right hand wall, with my left arm braced against the left wall, as the only thing keeping me up. I couldn't go forward or backwards and was stuck in a very uncomfortable position which became painful after about a minute. While waiting for my friends to figure out a quick rescue plan (most of them were still at the bottom of a climb, and had yet to frog up the rope I'd previously fallen from and been caught by). I surprised myself by going into complete survival mode since my friends may not have had enough time to help me before I fell... I REFUSED with all my willpower to fall unconscious, even though I could feel lactic acid building up in my crouched legs (a stitch) and my left hand was going tingly and numb from lack of blood flow (pins & needles) so everything hurt, and I had to use every ounce of my conscious willpower to keep my hand braced - because I knew that if I let it go slack for even a moment I would fall. After several minutes I could feel myself beginning to drift out of consciousness (I'm assuming due to low blood pressure or poor circulation, or possible even shock from the previous fright?) and understood in that moment that there was NOTHING I could do to stop it - I had to plan for falling 8ft. (Pretty sobering thought right there!) So while my friends organised themselves behind me (the starting ledge was way too small for that many people) I started planning how I was going to fall once I inevitably passed out! I figured that if I blipped back into consciousness as I started to fall, I would be able to ensure I landed on my legs and rolled forward to minimise damage to head and organs. Bizarrely, I got this information from a book about WW2 parachutists, never would've expected it to come in so useful so soon! Luckily my friend managed to climb down and stand below me, while someone else pulled me back onto the solid ledge behind me - and we all got out of the cave without further drama and eventually I stopped feeling ill! We agreed that night that I would've survived the fall, but been seriously injured (cave rescue down a 30ft pothole in the snow at night, sounds fun)! I would still have liked to know whether my instinctive survival plan would've helped me survive, or just minimise damage, or if even thing would've happened too fast for me to respond... Anyway this is why safety line are so important, also if your friend is going into schock, look the f!ck after them to ensure they don't make any stupid fatal mistakes!
There's other situations were you might fall from quite dangerous heights (not many, but some, and most of them woudln't give you more than 5 seconds to prepare for landing)
@@buckyisdizzy Yeah, if you fall in a water from that high, it'll crush you. Also, according to science, when Moana jumped into the realm of monsters, in the water, she shouldn't have survived that
*realises you are in a video game* A swamp is actually very shallow water Snow is very thick fog covering hard ground And you fall through the branches of trees
Had a dream today that made me come back to this video, and I was gratified that I was remembering right about landing on your feet even though it sounds ridiculous. Thanks dude if I'd fallen out of the sky in the past year you could've saved my life
Not a good idea to land in water, especially because of the impact, you'll hit it like its cement. Imagine a belly flop but a 100 times worse and and all your bones are broken. That's as exact as I can get.

Yup cause you just taught me how to not to skydive in the first place
@Some characters aren't allowed Well isn't that because of test cases, there have been less people at the air fields, so the ratio could be incorrect, and not necessarily able to be compared to the road. Which has way more accidents, and fatalities, plus being so wildly assessable.

8. remember a last time Germany - Brazil 2014
@@the_original_Bilb_Ono if you go down from like 12000+ meters in water you'd have more broken bones than the other 3 + even if you would survive you would be at the bottom of the lake without a swim vest probably
Advice like this is actually useful - in case you ever fall off a cliff etc.
I got myself stuck on a ledge about 8 feet up in a cave earlier this year
(In my defence, I was recovering from a paniciky adrenaline rush, just after falling off a pitch and being caught by my safety lines - so I'd literally just experienced falling off an actual cliff more than 10m high - so my brain was in a BAD place, and even though my friends tried to calm me down, it took me hours to fully recover my senses, so I blame that for what happened next).
So I attempted to straddle the canyon and got about 2 feet before getting both wellies stuck on a tiny ledge on the right hand wall, with my left arm braced against the left wall, as the only thing keeping me up.
(Pretty sobering thought right there!)
So while my friends organised themselves behind me (the starting ledge was way too small for that many people) I started planning how I was going to fall once I inevitably passed out!
Anyway this is why safety line are so important, also if your friend is going into schock, look the f!ck after them to ensure they don't make any stupid fatal mistakes!
dude if i was in a situation like that i would just panic HARD and just be stunned the entire way through and probably die

Not a good idea to land in water, especially because of the impact, you'll hit it like its cement. Imagine a belly flop but a 100 times worse and and all your bones are broken. That's as exact as I can get.
