    We have used the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

      BUT I WOULD RATHER HAVE A 30 KW with a 6-71 with a regular OLD style muffler ,billowing a clean regular stream of diesel smoke. Impress the neighbors? No Fuk them, if they are to incapable of setting one up and appreciating it to hell with them. And no I won’t run an extension cord to them either!

      @@sinclairopaline well when you have 30kw you have some to spare put there ass on a 15-20amp 120v outlet and let them pay for your fuel. The worst they could do is keep you from running the microwave a/c all stove eyes and the oven at teh same time lol

    • @MsSomeonenew
      @MsSomeonenew 8 лет назад +5

      Well many consider an investment like this as a permanent source of electricity, not an occasional joy ride.
      At least they say what the expected lifetime is, usually these things are left to guesswork.

    • @jimrojas62
      @jimrojas62 8 лет назад +4

      If you have to resort to using something like this as a permanent source of electricity, you would be better off buying some military surplus units. You can buy 10 military grade units with very low hours, compared to what this thing would set you back. If you buy 3 military units, and run them each for 10 days (250 hours), they would last you roughly 5 years if you change the oil and do required maintenance every 250 hours.

    • @MsSomeonenew
      @MsSomeonenew 8 лет назад +5

      So we are talking 10 grand every 5 years, plus fuel costs...
      Seems like a really bad idea either way you slice it, but at least it clears things up when thinking about independent installations.
      I guess if you cut back on electricity use and only ran them for 4 hours or so every day that would make things somewhat reasonable.

    I sure would like to see one of these Aurora Perkins gensets running under load. That would be a lot more realistic, certainly a lot louder than the "50 decibels" mentioned in this video. A load bank test is EASY to arrange, so why not make a video of it. Not just for noise, but to also show frequency and voltage when loaded. Some brands (Cummins, Cat) are solid 60 Hz/240V while others bog to 58 Hz (or worse) and voltage is all over the map. Let's see what these Auroras can do!!! I'm VERY interested in replacing my noisy 3600 rpm gas generator for a quiet 1800 rpm diesel, but can't find ANYTHING on RUclips showing an Aurora under load.

    No noise? No smoke? Under No-Load conditions, with nothing connected, even the loudest generators run fairly quietly. They know that, but are willing to bet you don't!

    • @dilbertbob5420
      @dilbertbob5420 6 лет назад +2

      Yeah, it is amazing how far we've come. I operated and repaired diesel generators in the Army for ten years and they were loud and smelly. The new generation of generators (no pun intended) are quiet because they use several layers of soundproofing and "clean" because of better engineering methods. A lot of them use the same DEF (Diesel Emission Fluid) that is required in late model diesel trucks. DEF is incorporated into the exhaust system and removes the soot and smell. You know its working by the telltale faint chlorine smell.

      I purchased a Perkins generator that is made in the USA . It has a life of 30,000 hrs . My intent was to buy a unit that did not get overdrawn, that had a continuous ability to provide power. Diesel needs maintenance, oil change, filter change, proper fule and maintenance. If you can't do that, you don't deserve to own a diesel, or any thing else. All generators require maintenance, and should not be put in a place that will overdraw the output as a matter of operation. If you require 15,000 watts, get a 25000 watt unit as a precaution. Not kk

    • @shananagans5
      @shananagans5 5 лет назад +1

      lol That was exactly what I was thinking. I have a swamp cooler and gas heat in my home. In the summer my max load would be with the cooler on high (about 1KW) the fridge, the microwave on occasion and some assorted computers, TVs and lights. I would have to turn everything in my house on to hit 5. We would be digging out old clock radios and the pump for the fish tank that hasn't been set up for a decade to exceed 5KW.
      Maybe they need 15KW to power the electric heater for their indoor pool. lol

      Aian9597 What about wind energy and/or some solar panels? A ranch sounds like enough space for a well sized photovoltaic system with enough power output to replace probably more than one of this huge generators, and the fuel to power it is even free. With batteries you even got energy at night when the sun isn't shining or when theres not enough wind to power a wind generator, and these are the only thing you have to replace after about 5 to 10 yrs or so.

      This unit produces 120V/240V at 60Hz, typical split phase power seen in North America. They're built in Canada. If you're looking for 220V, 50Hz, as you'd typically find in Europe, etc., I'm sure Aurora can put a different generator head on and change the governed speed of the engine a bit, Reach out to Aurora, they're a great company and produce a fine product, as is evident in this video.

    Problem is diesel is nowhere near as convenient to store in a residential situation. Sure, if you're somewhere that already has a diesel tank and you're using a lot of it then it would make sense to use a diesel generator. But otherwise just the tank permits are going to be problem.

  • @dhansel4835
    @dhansel4835 6 лет назад +2

    The bad thing about fuel (gas or diesel) generators is when they are out of fuel the chances of finding more fuel are slim to none. If you are out of power so will be the gas stations.
    That's why I went with a natural gas unit.
    If you ever get into a hurricane or storm situation the service stations are also out. If you find one open there will be a 2 mile long line with your limit is 5 gallons and then back to the end of the line.
    Here in Houston they were rationing food and water. The people in charge of this would put a colored dot on the right side of your vehicle when you pulled up for your case of water and a few snack bars.
    If you tried to get in line again they would see that mark on your car and wave you through, no more water or food. The military or police were standing guard if there was any trouble makers.
    If things got really bad it would shoot the kill. No questions asked... "Marshal Law".
    It's just reality.

      D Hansel agree. Converted my own and son’s gensets to NG. They run cleaner and no worries on fuel supply. And no carburetors getting gunned up due to sitting for years with ethanol in the gas. This is easily handled by drawing etc but bet most users don’t do that or know how to do that. I run the genset every couple of months to keep everything checked out. The conversions also allow for running on NG, propane and gasoline.

      No it is really not. A tractor trailer can easily get 1+ million miles, which comes out to roughly 17,000 hours. The key to extend the life of any generator is to run them at 1/2 its load capacity, and at a lower RPM. 1800 RPM is best.

      That's normal just excess fuel in the injectors. You always get that when a diesel starts, worse with "off road" Diesel fuel than modern low sulphur fuel sold today. 20 years ago that smoke would have been black, and would have continues until the engine was up to operating temp. As far as decibels of sound goes, that generator wasn't under any kind of load, under 80% load that would quickly become easily100 decibels. The dude is a typical bullshit salesman selling you a line if SHIT. That generator is probably close to $20K before installation, ad on another $5K for installation. And probably $150-$200 every time to fill it for 72 hours of use.

    Out of business? I don't think so. Yangdong or YTO is still available as well and it is good quality. I see on AGI site that you use perkins and laidong currently. To be honest I am big fan of chinese so I would choose laidong. Thanks for reply.

    I'm sorry, but no matter how cool they are and how good they function, more than 10000 hours is a very small lifetime, especially for that price

      T Hh Ok that is a very different situation.....diesel engine suffer mostly from wear due to repeated and multiple coldstarts,!!!!!! diesel engines running steadily and at warm operational temperature with an excellent lubrificant, well ventilated or watercooled and with clean/good quality dieselfuel do almost not wear out , they can double or triple their estimated lifespan ! That is why Taxis let their motor run overnight and sometimes reach mileage over half a million km, You should have a look on professionnal watercooled double or triple cylinder types that run at a low 1500 cycles/min instead of the usual 3000 .....Use the best oil you can find and always let the engine warmup before taking it to deliver full power
      Good luck

    no this generator will run at roughly 1500 to 1600 rpm and as the load comes on the governor on the engine will compensate for that so the rpm of the motor doesn't drop more than about 100 rpm

      Its diesel. Fuel consumption much lower than gas. I have a pair of Onan diesel gen sets, 3000 watt and 7500 watt. They really just sip fuel. Don't know what these guys charge but mine used were under $800 for both on Craigslist needing minor repairs. My guess $6000.00 for the unit shown.

      Thorium? Nah, thanks. Just had a pizza. Well if I could buy some I would build my own reactor....
      Speaking of diesels...I put the 905 Kubota in a Geo Metro and got 70mpg. But the State of Kali won't register it. My boat had a Perkins 4107 inboard diesel in it. Too slow so I put a Chevy 6.5 turbo diesel in it with Mercruiser outdrive and bumped up the injection pump to 250hp. Oh, what fun! So the leftover Perkins went into my 28 foot wood Tollycraft (called the Tolly Turtle) and indeed, it is a turtle. 8mph but uses 1.3 gallons per hour. Good enough to get to the fishing spot and home again. Take care...stay safe!

      +kimmer6 , The unit shown cost $10.000, and it uses around a 1/2 gallon of diesel per hour when running at half load.. And that's about where it will run if you had every light in your house on, and if you are running your a/c or oven, it will use around 1 gallon per hour..

    10,000 hours of total run time, only if you plan to use this unit just for emergencies only. This unit will probably rust away before that ever happens. If you plan to use it 24/7, that comes out to a little over a year. This would be the same as driving a car roughly 600,000 miles, and changing the oil every 3,000 miles.

      Hello Jim Rojas
      I have a (SDG) sourcing diesel generator can generate clean electricity at about 6 MW to 180 MW per unit (estimate), 25 to 100 horsepower engine size.
      The part of technology innovation to connect with the Sourcing diesel generator, it does not depend on any fuel, no ocean power, no wind power, no sunshine, no water power, and no heat power, and no battery, and not magnetic, no wood chip, and no rice husk. This engine can put it on big boat and big house boat, you and it can send the electricity via the power line to the land. We wish to join with you. Are you interested?
      I would like to participate with you, and share the mutual benefit.
      I can send my engineer to meet you : Thank you.

    Are the commenters below REALLY as stupid as they sound, or are they pulling our leg? A generator designed to last for 10,000 hours is not worn out after a year, because backup power amounts to a few hours here and a few hours there. 10,000 hours might easily mean 10 years of useful life or more. Yes, we should listen to this generator under load for a fair appraisal, but trust me, these units are far quieter than most. Contrary to one commenter's opinion, diesel fuel stores very well; I've used five year old fuel without trouble, although fresh is always best.
    The generator for my off-grid home is a Kubota water-cooled diesel with just over 10,000 hours on the clock. Because it has been carefully maintained it starts well, runs well and will not be replaced for a long time yet. Bottom line: ignorant know-nothings should just look for the cheapest disposable Chinese generator they can find: Harbor Freight, Walmart etc.
