I would often look forward to the big name at the end. Then it was over and the horror of the next 5 days became reality. Had to also think of homework not done!!
I grew up watching this show, but this one was two years before I was born! The music still gives me butterflies in my stomach. As a family we enjoyed it so much for so many years. I believe that it was on one of these shows that I first saw Kathy Kirby and fell in love with her blonde hair and shiny lips, I was only about five years old. I also remember in the sixties when Judy Garland missed her cue and we wondered whether she was going to come onto the stage. In the nineties, I started doing musical theatre and one of the Tiller Girls (Doris) was our choreographer. I wish I could pick her out from the line up, every time I watch one of these shows.
Remember later on when all the performers got on a rotating stage at the end of the show. And when The Rolling Stones appeared they refused to stand on that rotating stage at the end. Some great weekend TV Shows in those years : 6 5 Special, Juke Box Jury, Billy Cotton Band Show, Black and White Minstrel Show.
I was born on the Thursday before this show aired on the 10th. The show became part of my childhood as i grew older tuning in every Sunday. Good times.
I remember as a kid watchin the revolving stage at the end and bruce forsyth holding dickie henderson up because he had had to much to drink and was in danger of falling off
A month before this Buddy holly and the crickets was on Sunday night at the palladium singing That " be the day and Peggy sue " but it wasn't recorded only managed to save the sound buddy was on tour over here with Des O'connor and the tanner sisters
Oh my God! I was 11 years old and I hated SNATLP with a passion! Why would anyone think a line-up of women prancing about the stage for a solid five minutes was even remotely entertaining for anyone?
As a young lad I hated the tune at the end because it meant the weekend was over, I was made to go to bed and it was bloody school next day.
Same here

I bet every teacher was feeling the same though! (Retired teacher here!)
I’ve been saying that for years, good to know I wasn’t on my own. LOL
You and me both! My blood pressure is rising just thinking about it!!

Proper entertainment, thank you ❤
Dick Shawn was years ahead of his time. Great comedian. At least this show brought top line acts from both UK and US. It was a great variety show.
Brilliant in ‘The Producers’, very funny man.
It was a treat to see the logo of Associated Television at the top of the show. (ATV was the series ' production company. )

Excellent. I wish there was live footage of Buddy Holly at the London Palladium. Only screencaps remain it seems.
Oh this takes you back . What a big show this was, wonderful days.
Ah the tiller girls ❤ Sunday night at the London palladium an installation for any baby boomer
I wonder who wrote Trinder's dire patter.
What a great memory, thank you

My granny always liked a “leg show”
I remember as a kid watchin the revolving stage at the end and bruce forsyth holding dickie henderson up because he had had to much to drink and was in danger of falling off
I was 7 when this was recorded living in a slum area of London called Notting Hill yes it was a slum then. Give it 10 years from now will be again.
The cat impersonating elvis was miming perfectly with his strumming.
I wonder if they had to pay royalties for using an Elvis song!

Your taste at 11 was better than the producers of the show!
However, high-kick line dancing has long been a success for the Radio City Rockettes.
bravo
One wonders how many of these dancers are still alive?
I was born in 1958, I know who Sahara Vaughan is
RIP Marvin
The Hitler Youth Dancers goose-stepping their way through the opening is very funny. Why don't we have satire like that now 😂😂.
What a great period - when literally anything was funny.
BRITISH television 😮
Folk waited all week to see this rubbish.
It was probably bath night back then
how do we know that those beat the clock contestants are not actors and the whole thing was a scam
Jesus Christ........................weren't easily and innocently entertained back then.............................
Dreadfully awful! I'm nearly 80 and can't wait for Armaggedon 😊😊😊😊😊!
