Check out the Tehachapi Loop if you like trains and in the area for content, California historical landmark east of Bakersfield, i film in that area for my channel.
Hey Adam hope you're good..... Gas here in the UK is even more expensive currently just over £6 a gallon that's around $7.50 US, keep smiling ...stay safe :)
I figured you would have passed through LasVegas while making your way through Nevada. Was thinking maybe you'd swing by to see the auto exhibit from the History tv show Counting Cars but clearly you took a different route. I'm sure as you make your way through Cali that's where we'll see all kinds of madness. Looking foward to seeing tomorrows video. I drink my wake up coffee every morning while watching your daily videos. You've become part of my routine lol. ☕
In the UK the gauge is to small to have the diggers on top of the train as in this video. I love the way they move on rails on top of the train. Like a railway on a railway, could imagine the guy that came up with that idea.
What’s ironic is that the people in govt who claim to be on the side of the underrepresented and struggling families are the ones responsible for making it harder to make ends meet.
I have a great story about that "random wall". My mom's uncle was hired to freshen up the paint job on it. The guy came out to the job, had the paint, paid him $75, made him stop for snacks and a drink that were provided for free, and then when it was finished, he got a $10 tip. He then asked the guy if he needed a receipt and he said no. My relative said, well don't you need to turn it in for the park budget and the guy said "I lied about that, I just see this all of the time and thought it needed fresh paint, so I hired you". He then hands my mom's uncle a $5 bill to not tell anyone, then started giving him stuff, like another bottle of water and a nutri-grain bar (which he brought as the snacks). He then gave him another $1, a wheatback penny and a keychain off of his own key ring that was from his visit to the Alamo, and then finally said "keep the extra paint", and then drove off. My mom's uncle had us all laughing telling the story, and he just said "It got really strange, but I wanted to see where he would go with handing me stuff"
Once again - you prove when you slow down and look at the world you are actually living in, it can become the most awesome and fascinating place. I was in from the train opening - don't you wonder sometimes how it is YOU, @AdamtheWoo, who gets to be present at these precious moments in time? Who ELSE gets to SEE this cool stuff??
Hearing about the Donner party makes me appreciate modern life even more. Thank You to all of the pioneers who braved the harsh wilderness to expand America and make it what it has become today. May they all rest in peace.
The Donner stuff was cool to see. There was a little irony there, that you paid the ultimate price for Gas in Donner. Glad you made it man! You packed a ton into such a short time. Well done.
@TheDailyWoo THANK YOU for taking me to my childhood. I was born in Reno and raised in Sparks a couple blocks away from where you were. W R Adam's Jewlers owned the house my family rented for approx 30 years. I preformed in that amphitheater when it was first built. Wow the memories... Thanks again and much love Adam!
One man's trash is another man's treasure. Slow traveling's the way to go, stopping to see the things most people miss. thanks for bringing us along Adam.
If you guys think that maintenance train with the machinery on top picking up the old ties is awesome, you should look up the train system that goes through and will simultaneously lift the track, remove old and worn out ties, clear the ballast (rocks that the rail and ties sit on) away as they put a brand new tie down, then it fastens the rail to the tie and refills any areas that need more ballast. It's like a assembly of line type setup and it just slowly goes down the track fixing and replacing the ties and any rail that's damaged. One of the coolest things out there on the rail, right along with the giant snow blowers they've got as well. So fascinating!
Thanks for showing Nevada that most visitors never see, or bother to look at. I have spent years exploring Nevada and even now I haven't seen some of the places you have stopped at. Mostly because I'm not on I-80 all that much. Driving my rental car in areas where probably the rental agreement doesn't like. Driving through heavy snow in the dirt roads in the mountains, etc. Once had to stop and give my rental a good wash before returning it to Hertz, so they wouldn't see the big mess I made of their car. (dirt and mud) Keep up the good work, great video.
Wow, that's how HOME DEPOT gets their railroad ties! 🤯 Those trains collect them as they are dismantling the older wooden tracks! I use to work for Home Depot as a cashier. We sold those in the garden section, and me knowing how heavy they are until now I so always marveled at how possibly they were collected. 🤯 People use them as repurposed wood for fencing and flooring.
That train at the beginning was very fascinating. Never saw that before. I’m liking these travel vlogs a lot. Can’t afford to travel so I will just sit on my couch and watch Adam the Woo do all the traveling.
I loved this road trip. You stayed mostly on Interstates but showed some off the road sites. It was also a much different route than you normally take. I saw things I had never seen before. Thank you for bringing us along!
25:21 Such a great point. Gratitude is a key to life and we have many reasons to be grateful. Our great great grandparents would be amazed at the variety of food and entertainment options we have today.
I love when you go on your road trips. We have such a beautiful country. Than you for taking us along with you. You are going to places I may never see in my life.
Good morning it was awesome to see you cover some of the spots near where I live. Have to admit when I went to lunch yesterday at one of our local truck stops in Fernley NV was hoping to run into you. There are so many small towns and ghost towns in Nevada you would love to explore. When you go back east and if you go through the northern part of the state you should take highway 50.
I have seen lots of trains, but never seen a maintenance train like that one. Very cool! Sometimes its the little unexpected things like that I find more fascinating than other roadside oddities.
I love traveling with you, Adam. You take the neatest routes and show us the coolest stuff. Feels good not to have to push yourself to drive such long distances, doesn't it?!
This reminds me of old school Woo from back when I first saw your videos. I got my stickers in the mail yesterday, thank you very much! Safe travels to you Adam!!
My brother Eric, his wife, Iris and I went to Reno back in 1987. We stayed in a motel in Reno for a few days, and we also took a tour bus to Virginia City. We had a lot of fun. At least 2 mornings, we got up to find ashes on my car. Going home through Donner Pass, I saw flames only a few yards from the road. I sped up to get out of there. I had a 1973 Dodge Dart at the time. Wow, seeing that gas station sign brought some memories to mind!
I'm so glad you took the northern way to CA this time. Something different than your usual route. Nice to see northern CA in your vlogs also. I'm still waiting for the day you make one of your road trips all the way up the east coast through NY, and maybe into Maine. That would be awesome to see. I would really love to see you come through Long Island where I live. We have ferries off the east end of Long Island that go to Connecticut, so you could drive through NYC and then make your way all the way through Long Island, then onto Connecticut. Please consider it. The north east needs the Adam The Woo road trip vlog treatment. Safe travels my friend.
Yes he should go to Long Island. Lot of cool historic places and beautiful beaches and the best food. I used to live about mile away from Michael j Fox's and Eli Manning house but I moved to Florida 3 years ago.

Jealous or what! such a good way to see your country, stunning scenery, oddities and that train, Thankyou Adam, so your possibly going on a plane lol can't wait, your right we have it too dang easy

Was interesting to see the railroad maintenance train. I have never seen one exactly like that, but I live next to the railroad and the have some really bizarre looking maintenance vehicles and trains that I see from time to time. Some of them look like Rube Goldberg contraptions. They have ballasting cleaning machines that remind me of something from a Dr. Phibes movie. They also tend to leave railroad ties and scrap metal from railroad repairs and maintenance for someone else to pick up later. In fact, sometimes they forget to pick it up for a while, or do not get to it for a while.

@@TheDailyWoo It's not really worth it. Fun fact though -- If you extend the Mason-Dixon Line west from the PA/MD border, it runs almost exactly halfway between Yuba City and Sacramento. Technically, most of California is in the South.
