The ironic thing, is that that Vifam HAS been in a crossover game before. Sunrise World War, with gundams and everything. I dont know if the director hated it or what, but they actively participated in the plot with other characters.
Takeyuki Kanda passed away before Sunrise World War got released, though.

ViFam is just an extreme version of the White Base Crew. The main issue I see is… Clone Troopers / Child Soldiers.

I could imagine an isekai srw like Srw X with vifam in the cast, have the kids of vifam transported to a world like Wataru or Granzort with other real robot series. They still could get their character development and at the end return them to their original world before they rescue their parents
Granzort is basically Proto - Magic Knight Rayearth. The issue I see is… Child Soldiers. Imagine the White Base Crew, ala Ender's Game the novel.

Vifam DID start out with the kids together with adults, and on the journey the kids occasionally meet up with adults as a sort of "ray of hope" thing where maybe, just maybe, they can get over their lonely space journey. Doesn't stick.
So if ever, I think how it could work is that the kids start out with the main team, then they're forced to separate in a route split. All kids series would end up with Vifam. Other route splits will have them meet up again before separating for different priorities (the kids wanna find their parents, the others want to deal with the antagonist factions). Their story will end with them reuniting with their parents, but they realize they're some of the best earth has right now, so they join the rest in saving the universe.
They could go the Machine Robo in Impact way and have them be guest characters for most of the game and only join in the tail end of the game/after their storyline ends
Considering how there are many series with similar topics, such as survival without adults, I think Vifam would work perfectly well. Tho that would mean completely cutting Getter Robo from the game, since there aren't any iterations where the characters are incapable of behaving themselves like adults, but at least the first part of Gurren-Lagann would fit perfectly. They could also add series like Astra Lost In Space, Infinite Ryvius, Tetsujin 2004 (while also trying to avoid topics of WW2 as much as possible, which makes it infinitely harder to implement), Layzner, all of the eldran shows, Zambot 3, Victory Gundam and Gundam AGE and even FranXX. Or they could pick some series where adults are so incompetent or out of touch with the team, that they behave themselves worse than children. Gun X Sword kinda fits in that category.
I recommend starting the story without the adults but having them join much later with their most powerful mechs, they even make a story around like the main villain kidnapped the worlds best pilots and captains, this will make it so the young characters have to fend for themselves until they manage to rescue the adults which by then they would've already developed as characters.
Build Divers would 100% work as your Gundam if you wanted the "childrens Crusade". The Divers, Astra, Infinite Ryuvius, and Vifam, possibly add a kid only brave series or like you said GL pre timeskip
There's also Fuga (manga version) and Hiwou War Chronicles (anime or manga version) that can also work alongside Vifam.
Understandable since Terada want to keep the essencial part of the series not only just plot
Maybe it's the same reason why Terada didn't put Webdiver or even Go-Saurer in main title besides the copyright problem and voice archive problem

The overall franchise itself is (partially) a Western property, and none of those have ever gotten into SRW.

Western properties will quite simply never get into SRW. It's JP-only to begin with and there's no precedent for foreign media getting included in it.

I'm interested in hearing Terada's stance on Five Star Stories getting in.
That would be interesting as well as gargantuan order to fullfill given the timeline of the joker system. I suppose they could just shorten it and make the life years of those in the the joker system the same as people from earth.
@@vernier8159 Yeah that kind of stuff is what I'm mostly interested in since I know Mamoru Nagano isn't going to want it in. I'm mostly interested in if there was ever any real interest in trying to get it in and if there are any ideas planned in the hypothetical scenario they do.
FSS is... bit tricky in sense of story and timeflow aside Nagano's disapproval for including FSS in SRW.

I think it could be done if they just made an SRW game focused entirely on children like the Forever Thirteen, and haphazardly mash some storyline together like they always do. Perhaps all the adults went off to fight some sort of large mysterious threat, and haven't come back. All the adults get kidnapped or wiped away with some space god magic leaving a ragtag roster of literal children to try and pick up the pieces and go halfway through the galaxy to get to them.
Have a roster with young (teenage at most) pilots like the Forever Thirteen, ZZ Gundam Team, throw Katz in there for good measure or something. I don't know, I'll let them cook anything to have VIFAM in an SRW game.
I'd love to hear the original plans and ideas for the development of SRW 1 and 2! Like, how did we get to that idea?
I think SRW V proves that they're more than fine with ignoring a show's core themes for the sake of fitting it into a game.
There are other sunrise mecha series featuring child protagonists around the Vifam range. Why not group with them instead like the eldran series.
I have the series on Laserdisc that I imported on DVD.
if only we got mechander robo back as well in a future SRW game
I guess the “outer dimension” stuff like the DLC characters in SRW 30 could work with the lesser known Dynamic series (Groizer X, God Mazinger and Govarian).
Now if they just made a new game focused on the brave series this might work out. Excluding guygar of course.
Some series just don’t work well in a combined series. It is always great to see the large amount of respect that SRW places on source material when the can.

And it also has Mecha in it, albeit more unique.
More like 2 years vacation. In LOTF the children get reduced to "tribalism" while in 2YV they do pretty well.
Also i think Vandread might have the similar issues.
I would say that Vandread would be difficult to implement just because of the show's setting is so opposite to what the atypical SRW has going for it.

I think the director of SRW is just avoiding some issues unlike I seen many Mecha anime genre like the storyline is a little off and yes, I know the children piloting it but unlike Wataru etc. If they planning to the future SRW title, just give a minor changes.

It's just an Extreme version of Gundam's White Base Crew. It being in SRW is just like Star Trek: Voyager in Super Robot Wars.
I see no specific reason of losing independence and so on, only it will be teased that they got close to Earth, like what happened to Voyager a couple of times. Then there is "The 37's".
The issue is more… in Voyager, a quarter of the crew is Maquis, a faction hostile or indifference to Starfleet.
(like the White Base, Voyager suffered the loss of a suefficient amount of crew)
The deal Janeway and Chakotay is… both agreed to be under Janeway/Starfleet to return to Earth.
Once they were back, well…

Megas XLR itself is a Super Robot Wars of its own. It even parodized a parody of Sailor Moon as giant mechas. A parody of a parody. I forgot that Sailor Moon parody, not the Megas one, but the one Megas parodized.
