How is this a mech but an AT-ST is not? Its pretty much an AT-ST with ballistic weapons and better designed legs. Neither have 'arms' anymore than the chicken walker, Metal Gear, Mantis, or many Battletech Mechs do.
It might be because the the miniguns can be moved around as you could arms, but and AT-ST's weapons are fixed to the head and can only move up and down
Then what are the jaegers from Pacific rim? when you look up the definition of a mech "Mech is a type of minion, depicting mechanical constructs ranging from piloted vehicles to fully sentient mechanical beings" the AT-ST is a mech by definition alone.
@jennifer stewarts I never claimed it was a battle suit i'm just pointing out that the jeagers have the pilots side by side in the cockpit similar to an at-st, minus the parts that attach to the arms and legs plus the whole brain thing. I know yeagers are mechs and not battle armor i'm just saying the at-st is a mech weather it has arms or not. mech warrior is full of large and small chicken-legged mechs with both fixed and non-fixed weapons, granted none have more than one pilot. claiming that the at-st is not a mech seems pointless unless you can really tell me why it is not classified as a mech when there are countless other "mechs" that are reverse leg chicken walkers that have both fixed and non-fixed weapons. one last bit, in The Mandalorian they call the at-st a mech so come at me
@jennifer stewarts "The term mecha may refer to both scientific ideas and science fiction genres that center on giant robots or machines controlled by people" calling the at-st "a giant fighting robot" still qualifies it as a mech or at least a form of mecha. I see calling something a walker as another way of saying "mech" like the "wanzers" from Front Mission. you have your real robot mechs and your fantasy magic ones but all in all, they are still mechs. mecha or mechs from the definition sounds like something you refer something to like when you see a car, unless you are close it and know what type of car it is you refer to it as a car, truck, van what have ya. you have your combiner mechs like Voltron and your transformer mechs like in Macross but you still refer to them all as mechs. also, I don't think the agility of a mech determines if it's a mech or not. Robot Jocks weren't that agile and couldn't boost, the locust mechs from Mechwarrior are of a different universe than the AT-ST and where made for fighting over mechs like it whereas in StarWars most battles will take place up in space where a starship is just way more efficient than some giant space flying robot.

It and it’s fan DLC’s are free and run well. Mechwarrior Online is great for a modern graphics twist and they’re working on a Mechwarrior 5 using the same engine.
Not sure it fits with the aesthetic of starwars but certainly unique. In my opinion it's too inspired off of real life it looks more like an alternate reality of Earth.
I go with the Battletech (aka: Mechassault) definition of mech. Thusly AT-AT, AT-ST, and any vehicle that uses legs as it means of locomotion is a mech. It's just the denizens of the Star Wars galaxy refer to such machines as "walkers" instead of "mechs". Same thing, different name.
