Not cursed- blessed.
I’m loving this slightly angry, but free Alton Brown
“ I’m not cleaning it up”
The joy Alton gets from saying the brand names is delightful.
Alton seems so happy that he can actually tell people to use the products he likes instead of some generic name
He's probably more happy that he doesn't have to cover up names images or censor what he says.
It's effective educational communication.
He could find a way around saying the brand name if he wanted to and not just the generic name. After all, you know what brand I mean when I say “grated Parmesan in the green canister” or even “green canister cheese”!
@@kathrynwitte3398 Even that might be too much if copyright lawyers are particularly anal. If he's giving one brand any preference in any way over another, you can be sure the lawyers will be calling.

My wife's recommendation is to butter the spatula so the ingredients don't get stuck. Works well. Plus, more butter is better
Oooh good tip!
That's what we do.
The fact that Alton's mom let him unsupervised in the kitchen long enough for him to make these says a lot about his personality. lmao
And apparently was worried about him eating too much candy, but had no trouble with him eating cereal straight from the box. :p

I feel like this series is just a way for Alton to tell us his favourite brands
Having varying degrees of success from working with both on- and off-brands, I am *relieved* that we're getting his recommendations! Making food with compound ingredients is most certainly a science - baking and desserts are proof!
Too bad he couldn't make as much money here on RUclips...I like these shorts.
and to finally use the “gasp” button on his soundboard apparently
Alton, Im totally down with the "Kerrygold". We loved it in as many recipes we could work it into. Family member now has dairy allergy, do you have a recommendation or advise for best alternative (vegan or at least dairy-free) options??
@@alaboutfood2326 earth balance is really good. We get the soy free option
The amount of chaotic energy this man exudes is ridiculous
My thoughts exactly. It's absolutely beautiful.
It's all the sugar.
I grew up in a no sugar cereal during the boom of cereals, the 80’s, and I can ASSURE anyone that the bowl of sugar AT the breakfast table was greatly depleted on the daily when I ate Wheaties. Milk sugar sludge was my childhood middle finger to “The Man”. Once Seinfeld normalized adult consumption and possession of multiple breakfast cereals, I was convinced adulting might suck less. Holy Grail
I did that with total.
Ate Frosted Flakes with sugar...still trying to kick the habit years later
We did the same thing with corn flakes, rice crispies and Cheerios... So much added sugar you'd drink grainy sugar milk at the end.
Alton during Good Eats: Lawful Good.
Alton on his RUclips channel: Chaotic Good.

“If you’re gonna eat this many calories, make it good ya’ know?”
PREACH!!
Mom monitored the sugar we put on cereal, but fairly early on we realized that our bowls were white, and sugar was white, so if we managed to dump sugar into the bottom of the bowl before we poured the cereal, we'd be able to have vast amounts of sugar.... and then we'd carefully measure out the one allowed spoonful on top of the cereal.
Amazing
Ohmygod. My brothers and I did that shit too 😂😂 and then my dad got this colored sugar and it matched the color of one of the bowls. We would put a layer of regular sugar and then the color sugar on top. Lol. It's only works like three times.

I believe that Good Eats ran a “contest” years ago asking viewers to send in their best home made video of being Alton Brown and doing their own imitation Good Eats segment of some kind. Alton at home like this, doing these segments, and submitting it, would have at least gotten a great 3rd place, maybe 2nd even. 😜. Just kidding. These are awesome! Oh man he looks so happy, I can’t help but smile and laugh along with him
Alright Alton: hindsight is 2020 and I should have emailed this to you a million years ago. But I had a big life-changing event recently and it’s made me reevaluate myself and I gotta let you know you’ve always been a big inspiration for me. The fact that you’ve never been too proud to go back and correct yourself in public has always made me believe in you. You never pull the wool over anyone’s eyes and it gives me so much hope for humanity. You’re a shining inspiration for all of your fans and on top of it: you’re one of the only sane consistent voices of reason in this whole jacked up modern television age we live in today. This video is the coolest friggen food trick I’ve ever seen and Rice Krispies have always been my favorite! Thank you thank you and thank you again for always being courageous and always being true to your own form. This might sound a little weird coming from a total stranger, but I love you man. All of your fans love you. And you give everyone who watches your show hope and belief in themselves. Every time they make one of your recipes and it comes out better than every time they’ve attempted it by themselves they get a little more proof. Keep on keeping on. We all need you just as much as you need us.

The Quarantine Kitchen episodes are brilliant!! Food Network should pick it up and add it to their new "After Dark" format. *Hint Hint*
Absolutely. There's NOTHING wrong with just cooking good food and sitting down (or standing up, as Alton and Elizabeth do in their QQ videos). Who ever thought that the cooking 'contest' was a better idea? Sorry, Iron Chef and Chopped, I'm so over it!
1: thank you for the Fluff reference. The New Englander in me is pleased.
2: Forming the treats in the cereal box is truly diabolical and I am deeply impressed. Momma can't be mad for that. I know I wouldn't be.
Altom, not only do I enjoy your great recipes, I enjoy your sense of humor. you are a blessing in these times of distress,
I so love your humor! I follow the directions on the box, plus add salt and vanilla. Once I add the cereal to the melted marshmallows, I add another cup or two of whole marshmallows. As you stir everything together, the marshmallows melt but stay together in the most yummy globs of extra goodness. They get rave reviews every time I make them.
So we can cross cereal boxes off the uni-tasker list.
Dang right
I know it's been said before but I just love the open and honest brand usage, "Can just flat out say this is what I like and why I like it better"

I love the idea of re-using the cereal bag and box. I do this every time I make Chex Mix -- because I don't make the tiny batches listed in the recipes -- I usually make 6 boxes worth of Chex Mix (1 corn chex, 1 wheat chex, 2 rice chex, 1 Crispix, 1 Cheerios, plus all the other goodies like pretzels and mixed nuts and raisins) and then I don't have enough storage containers for it -- so after it cools, I pour it back into the cereal boxes for storage.
The liners from cereal boxes have dozens of uses, so by saving then, you can reduce usage of zip top bags, waxed paper, and even parchment paper in times when no heat is involved (since the cereal box liners are plastic which could melt).
Yeah! My favorite treat ever! And using brand names which is more comforting. Thank you Alton!

I finally got around to making this. My wok was nowhere near big enough to properly toast the rice without the considerable risk of burning the bottom layer, which in Alton's own words, "would not be good eats." But the brown butter and the pinch of salt? Absolutely fantastic. And it never occurred to me to put everything back in the box, saves on the washing up after.
Right when you said butter but it's a brand, my heart screamed Kerry gold and alton delivered.
"Could we make our own marshmallows?" Well I've a stand mixer, that episode of Good Eats ready to go, and nothing better to do, so... yes?
