I actually do have nutritional yeast and furikake in my kitchen, and I could make ghee from butter, so I'm good. The yeast is sort of like a cheese substitute anyway.
yeah this is extremely out of touch for a "pantry raid" recipe. I much prefer Glen & Friends for this type of series. Although much respect to Alton Brown he really does some great stuff.

Those were optional. You could also just throw on some Jane's Krazy Mixed Up Salt or Everything Bagel seasoning. It's up to you - that's just what he had on hand.

I use a microwavable glass mixing bowl and cover it with a corelle plate. The higher the wattage the better it works
My microwave can take metal. It has a metal shelf in the middle of it. I don't know why.

I popped some corn in ghee about a year ago out of curiosity and it’s life changing. Movie theater tAste without those weird carcinogenic fake butter compounds
Fact: at one point during the manufacturing of artificial butter flavoring, it is actually highly poisonous & unfit for human consumption. See "Twinkle, deconstructed" by Steve Ettlinger. Fair warning, you might find out some things you don't want to know!

By the by, since I don't like popped corn (leaving two hungry, unsupervised kindergarteners in the car at a carnival in 1962 - you could do that then and not be arrested- with a huge bag of popcorn, is a recipe for gastric disaster, and a lifelong aversion. We finished it between us. 'Nuf said about that), I got some whole sorghum grains at the health food store and will pop them soon. This is enjoyed often in Africa and India. I'll try it with ghee. It's also gluten-free and non-inflammatory, unlike corn.
FYI: You can get a good Furikake blend from Trader Joe’s.

Alton: "furikake" is "fu-ree-kah-keh" An easy rule for Japanese all E letters are "eh," all As are "ay" (like in "say"), all Os are "oh," all Is are "eeee," and all U letters are "oo" like "moot"

If all As are long, like in "say," then wouldn't it be "fu-ree-kay-keh?"
Your explanation was a little off. In Japanese, A makes an "ah" sound. In English, sometimes A makes this sound and sometimes O does, such as in block, fox, mama, or mahogany. E makes an English long A sound, as in bay, May, or cake. As you said, U sounds like oo, I sounds like long E, and O sounds like long O. So furikake is pronounced foo-ree-kah-kay.

If you don’t want to buy cheese powder off amazon, you can also get moon cheese. Costco sells it in big bags and many grocery stores have it in little ones. Just dehydrated cheese. Then grind it up and sprinkle on the popcorn.

I do use my wok for my popcorn
Most woks (or at least the one I have) are made from a little heavier duty metal, which means it will take longer to heat up. His bowl seems like the best method for heating up quickly without burning.
I have been making popcorn like this for years, but I use my wok. Since the bottom is hottest, the popped corn moves up the sides where it is cooler and thus I have little need to shake the wok. My go to topping is lemon pepper seasoning. Delicious!
Hello, do you cover your wok with something or just leave it uncovered? I live in a country where woks are the primary cooking utensil so was also wanting to use mine.
