I’ve eaten both, since I was a kid, Lou Malnati$, it just brings it full circle. I’m from Chicago, The City, not some freakin subturd, it gets me pissed every time someone says they’re from Chicago, then they say “Yeah, Elmwood Park”
First off - Malnati's for me all the way. Second, no one in the Chicago area says they are from Chicago when they are here. When you travel however - yes, you ARE from Chicago and can gladly say it. No one in LA or Miami knows where Elmwood Park or Palatine or Palos Park are!
I haven't had either of these pizzas. Just Gino's East. Nobody tell me which one is better, it won't matter to me. I'll decide for myself when I go there.
Just enjoy ALL of them. Guess what - you can love them all. I've had Malnati's most of my life (there is a location 2 minutes from my house) and that is my favorite but I have had Uno's (only a couple of times) and Gino's East many times at many locations. Gino's is so inconsistent you could get anything from dreadful to as good as any deep dish I've ever had. I blame their ownership. Pizzeria Due is also not to be missed as it's basically Uno with maybe a slight difference. I don't go to Uno or Due hardly ever because it's in River North which is tourist central. Louisa's in Crestwood is another great deep dish - she was the cook at Due for decades. Giorgio's has a decent deep dish, they are in the northwest suburbs. Bartoli's is another deep dish joint that's good, owned by the grandson of one of the founders of Gino's East (on Addison at Damen). Pizzeria Barra in Oakbrook makes a great deep dish as well. I have yet to try two highly recommended deep dish places: Pizza Italia in Libertyville and Old World Pizza in Elmwood Park. There is one other style of deep dish that is a litte different and loved by many of us. Burt's, Pequod, and Lefty's. All three have burnt carmelized cheese around the edge and their dough is a little different. All three are excellent with Pequod being my favorite of the three.
Where this show went downhill was putting Camille as a judge when she already sampled it the food in the establishments. Should’ve been three separate judges she just hosts.
Giordano's isn't deep dish pizza at all - it's called Stuffed pizza. It's my least favorite style of pizza and to me is WAY overrated. Deep dish dough has a wonderful fermented aroma and can be buttery and dense, pressed into the pan by hand. Stuffed pizza is cardboard thin bland dough on the bottom, and another layer of uncooked gummy dough on top under the crust. I never liked the sauce on any stuffed pizza either. I would never recommend anyone to eat stuffed pizza.
How you invent deep dish pizza when he was working at a deep dish pizza place. Lou is a liar he even said our recipe is from their recipe. Cheater acting like the king. Uno is king.
I loved food wars especially with Camille Ford like Idk why it didn't last longer,I missed it tho.
Note to self: never put fennel in sausage.
She was way better than the producers of this show
That deep dish crap is for tourists besides old-style goes better with thin crust

Elmwood Park is close though--and all Italian.

Gino's East is 🔥 so is Uno

I think people just wanted to know which place she liked better. I honestly liked that better.
Should have been a blind taste test.
How about the Giodano pizza?
Hey! Guys! I guess that will have to be for another food war.

If unos pizza invented the deep dish then why does Lou's taste better umm
Uno invented it, Lou's perfected it
you get it girl!💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿
Cuz Lou worked there and knew the recipe and knew how to make it better.
Between the two Lou mallnottis is better but ginos east is best. I prefer tavern style over deep dish anyway 🤘vito and nicks🤘
