    I own a few compound bows and crossbows.. but I have a special love for my recurve bows, long bows, and traditional Archery!
    The very first bow I ever bought was a Mandarin Duck Phantom recurve @50lbs.. then I bought a Mandarin Duck Black Hunter recurve @60lbs.. and I loved that bow so much I bought another Black Hunter in long bow @45lbs.. then I bought a few other cheap bows from Amazon.. and I bought a 62" Samick Sage @40lbs.. and a 64" recurve bow @60lbs that is a direct clone/copy of the Martin Saber made by SinoArt.. and it is a FANTASTIC bow.. with people saying how it shoots just as good as an actual Martin Saber but for a lot less money - I dont own a real Martin Saber bow so I dont know how they shoot and I have always wanted a Martin Jaguar bow.. but so far I am really happy with this SinoArt 64" clone and how beautiful it shoots.. and currently it is my favorite go to recurve bow.
    I am one of those who made the big mistake of "over-bowing" myself when buying my first bow.. I started off learning the basics and fundamentals of Archery on a 50lb bow.. and knowing what I know now.. I should have been more humble and started off with a 30lb bow.. and this was the biggest mistake that I made as a "newbie" brand new to Archery.
    It may have taken me twice as long to learn the basics.. and twice as much time practicing.. but I began my journey into Archery on a 50lb bow.. and even though shooting a 60lb bow is no problem at all for me now.. in the beginning I really struggled.
    New Archers.. do NOT make the same mistake I did.. there is nothing wrong with a full grown man shooting a 20lb or 30lb light bow (like what most women would shoot).. you have to crawl before you walk.. and if you are struggling to draw to anchor point.. and hold.. your bow draw weight is too damn heavy for you!
    Start with a low draw weight.. something you can easily handle.. and learn how to shoot FIRST.. then it is much easier to step up in draw weight as you progress in skill.. and learn that "consistency is key" -

    • @jimathybindlenim6359
      @jimathybindlenim6359 4 месяца назад

      I started way over bowed at 65lbs. And I've had half a dozen black hunters and loved them all. There is no wrong path brother just shoot what you enjoy shooting, if you don't enjoy it you won't shoot it, if you don't shoot it you won't get good.
      My experience with all the crazy bows I shoot got me envied to actually teach at my club. I'm now the head instructor and I've only been shooting 3 years 😅

    • @dreadnaughttactical
      @dreadnaughttactical 4 месяца назад

      @@jimathybindlenim6359 Thanks for the reply! I think starting off with a heavy draw weight is a very common mistake a lot of new Archers make. For me.. I had always heard that you needed a minimum of 35lb - 40lb to hunt deer sized game.. and at the time it didnt make sense to me to buy a "light bow" to learn on and then have to buy another bow just to hunt with.. so I jumped in head first.. and it made my practice sessions harder.. and longer.. but I didnt give up.. I hung in there until those "Archer" muscles that I never used got stronger.. and the draw weights started to feel lighter.. and I started to get better and better.
      That is AWESOME that after only 3yrs you are head instructor at your club!
      That is another area where I really struggled as well.. I had no Archery clubs to attend.. none of my family, friends, and relatives were even remotely into Archery.. so I learned everything on my own and mostly from Archery RUclips channels - I even learned things like arrow fletching and string making from RUclips videos.. and even after years.. I am still in it all by myself today.. as no one who I am close to seems to share the same passion for Archery as I do.. and sometimes I wish I had a club or small group.. or even a buddy.. to share this wonderful sport with.

    Have always been interested in archery and hunting but have never pulled the trigger. I’ve finally decided to buy my first bow. Im going traditional too, it seems like it would be WAY more satisfying taking game with it over a compound. As a shorter guy (5’9”) I’ve decided to go recurve, their a little shorter. I really have my eye on the Bear Grizzly it’s AMO 58” for $459. That’s expensive for a first bow but I like quality. Before I drop the money though, is their any other recurves that are better or I should consider for $500 or less? I know you’d be the guy to ask! Also, I think I’m going to buy it in 40# draw weight. I tested out a 45# and could draw it back but only for a second or two and I was shaky. From your previous vids it sounds like 40# is perfectly fine to hunt deer as long as you have a sharp broadhead and heavy arrow, correct? I live in Ohio and the minimum draw weight is in fact 40#.

I like takedowns so the nod goes to the Sitkin but my draw length is 29" and I like the bamboo and uni-carbon core of the Oberon so I am leaning more to the Oberon. Does the Oberon give a little better performance than the Sitkin? Also I would like to hunt deer with this bow using Simmons heads. With your extensive knowledge testing arrow combinations, do you have a recommendation for a hunting arrow for a 37# @ 29" draw. Would a 500gr carbon arrow with heavy FOC penetrate better than a 500gr aluminum arrow?
