Better? SNK reigns supreme. No competitor has done what NeoGeo represented for over a decade, not even Capcom with their last CPS3 system could match the gameplay and quality of SNK mature titles. Bare in mind MVS has kept the exact same hardware since day 1.
@@alexojideagu You are amusing. You must suck so bad at SNK games or be just blind not to notice the gameplay and combo system (especially in the King of Fighters saga, Garou, Real Bout Fatal Fury etc.) is so well tweaked and butter smooth. SNK's animations quality and framerate makes the Street Fighter saga look like it's a light year behind in terms of performances and design. Combos? When Street Fighter 2 came out all people were doing (and still do) was spamming for hours with the dumb fireballs over and over. A bit of history: I don't even need to mention when the first Street Fighter came out in the arcade rooms people were looking at it and skipping it. Also it looks like you don't know that the guy who worked at Capcom to design SF claimed that the real Street Fighter game he wanted to do was what he was allowed to do for SNK. That game is called Fatal Fury.
Yes, and Krauser was based on Belgium-German Wrestler Karl Gotch and German Martial Artist/actor Matthias Hues. And Terry Bogard/Ryo Sakazaki was loosely based on American Martial Artist and B-Movie Action star Loren Avedon(of KING OF THE KICKBOXERS film)
I don't know if you're still covering beat 'em ups (or if you have already done this, though I haven't seen it) - I think you should take a look at Undercover Cops, the ridiculously over-the-top side-scroller where players could hurl cars and the animation style emphasizes every strike and impact.
I love the fatal fury series. I had all of the SNES cartridges. although for obvious reasons they were a little downgraded from the NEO GEO versions, they were still fantastic and I enjoyed tons of battles with friends.
Curious fact: Fatal Fury 2 was never released in Europe for the Mega Drive, instead it was a rent-only Blockbuster exclusive and only 4 copies are known to still exist.
Would have liked a deeper dive in to the GameBoy version of Fatal Fury 2. It's a great version of the game, with cute little Super Deformed versions of the fighters and speech bubbles in place of the sampled voices. All moves are present including the desperation moves. Also extra Super GameBoy features, borders and 2 player controller support. One of my favourites.
I'm going to look at the handheld versions of Fatal Fury Special when I cover that game. As the Game Gear version looks graphically spectacular for an 8 bit game too.
Almost everyone skips this version of FF2 and go straight to SPECIAL. This was the perfect alternative to Street Fighter 2 and featured better sound, music, and visuals. I got tired of SF2 and found Neo Geo's lineup of fighting games immensely entertaining.
Back then I had more fun playing fatal fury 2 than street fighter 2. Switching from front to back as a kid was a counter to your button mashing friend.
As a 90s kid that had both games on SNES, I can say that I enjoyed FF2 more than any SF version. I don’t know if it was because I got FF2 by mistake and I wasn’t expecting much of the game (Neo Geo machines were extremely rare in my country). However, when I saw FF Special for the first time in arcades, I was amazed. It left an impression on me that has never been matched by any SF game (And Garou Mark of the Wolves is a better game than any modern version of SF) Heck, I bought a Switch and that Mario pseudo-fighting game just because of Terry Bogard.

You should totally do the Tekken and Soul Calibur series down the road! YEEEAAAHHHH.lol Love your channel! Keep em going man!
Correction: Art of Fighting is the first game to have Desperation moves. (then (and still is, at least in Japan) known as Super Special Moves) However, FF2 is the first to have the iconic SNK-style super move motion inputs.
No, that was ALSO AoF. *points to Ryuko Ranbu*
@@TonyTheTGR The Ryuko Ranbu didn't have the input until AoF2, AoF have it using qcf+AC
Great work again THGM! Please team up with Dave Perry, yeaaaaah!
Terry bogard is the best fighter in all of snk fighting games ever.
Better than kyo kusanagi ?
Sorry bro have to give that to Rock Howard
@@Lupo32 easily
Yes..... Terry & Geese are some of my faves. Geese's style & counters are unmatched.
Proceeds to get his ass kicked in every KOF title. lol
Excellent show! Please make more!
Would you consider covering World Heroes in the foreseeable future?
Loving these vids, Dead or Alive, Blazblue and Guilty Gear next please
I always loved this game. I was extremely impressed when I found it in the arcade. By the way, here's another game you might want to feature at some point: World Heroes.
Rationalific You mean, World Heroes Perfect ;)
I loved this game at the time and love it now. While everyone was mortal kombatting. I was horning my skills on this. Street fighter will always be the king. Man this is still excellent.
Awesome research. Thank you for making this video.
“Turned heel after his tag team partner turned on him”
It's definitely harder than street fighter 2.
williamhowe1 it's definitely better
@@claudiamatteolo1459 But Fatal Fury Special is better than both.
williamhowe1 I agree it's an improvement, my favourites are Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: the New Comers and the very first Fatal Fury
You gotta try fighters history / karnovs revenge. Capcom sued data east and lost because karate champ predates street fighter
Glad that Capcom lost that case. If Capcom won that lawsuit, they would probably sue other companies creating fighting games of their own. Also, we wouldn't have other memorable fighting games today, if Capcom won that lawsuit.
Since both companies streetfighter and king of fighters both recently made updates to the fighting games I'm wondering if Capcom versus S and KIII is becoming closer to a reality I would love to see that for the next consuls coming out hopefully they use the character animations from king of fighters 13 Where are my
Make videos of the Body Blows series 😁👍. I used to play the first on the Amiga.
I am looking forward to when you cover the Last Blade series.
Dave Perry now lives in Torquay and owns Revolver Tattoo studio there
These videos are great distractions from what is going on in the world. Thank you Big daddy top hat......yeeeeeeessss!
Better? SNK reigns supreme. No competitor has done what NeoGeo represented for over a decade, not even Capcom with their last CPS3 system could match the gameplay and quality of SNK mature titles. Bare in mind MVS has kept the exact same hardware since day 1.
The combo system in SNK games has always been terrible. SF games are far superior.
A bit of history:
I don't even need to mention when the first Street Fighter came out in the arcade rooms people were looking at it and skipping it.
Also it looks like you don't know that the guy who worked at Capcom to design SF claimed that the real Street Fighter game he wanted to do was what he was allowed to do for SNK.
That game is called Fatal Fury.
@@alexojideagu have you actually played SNK games?
Cheng was inspired from Sammo Hung Tung Fu Rue was inspired from Master Roshi
Is Axel Hawk made after Older George Foreman?
Another great retrospective on one of my all time favourites. Looking forward to more
Hey, Top Hat Gaming Man! Can you please do a video on Savage Reign for the Neo Geo?
You should talk about cybots next. It's pretty underrated. That's also the game Jin in mvc is from.
Cheng Sinzan is modeled upon Samo Hung.
As a child I was an innocent creature and always tried not to swear. That changed when I first saw Dave Perry. What a bell...
Billy Kane is pronounced Con. Great video!
I’ve always been a bigger fan of Fatal Fury than I have of street fighter
Would have liked a deeper dive in to the GameBoy version of Fatal Fury 2. It's a great version of the game, with cute little Super Deformed versions of the fighters and speech bubbles in place of the sampled voices. All moves are present including the desperation moves. Also extra Super GameBoy features, borders and 2 player controller support. One of my favourites.
I'm going to look at the handheld versions of Fatal Fury Special when I cover that game. As the Game Gear version looks graphically spectacular for an 8 bit game too.
wait, it was on gameboy also?
really didnt know about that!
i have GG port though. it was fun and vibrant!
Gotta do a series review on SNK World Heroes
Almost everyone skips this version of FF2 and go straight to SPECIAL. This was the perfect alternative to Street Fighter 2 and featured better sound, music, and visuals. I got tired of SF2 and found Neo Geo's lineup of fighting games immensely entertaining.
I was a big fan of 2 when it arrived on ps2
@@bruceleeds7988 I went to the arcades everyday just to play this game...until Art of Fighting 2 came out.
FF2>Special imo
I remember seeing this game for tge first time in a donut shop as an 8 year old kid. Kim blew me away when I saw his style. Love this game
Please make a video of fatal fury 3 or real bout fatal fury, these have some good background history and fun gameplay
Please find Billy Kane LOL.
I NEED to see that shoot video. XD
Mai Shiranui herself is better than the entire Street Fighter franchise.
Cammy walks in for some serious talk :)
A character is hinted to revolve around Britain...
TopHatGamingMan talks for hours how great his home country is and how France, America, Japan, and all other countries suck!
