      Shove is terrible in 5bet pots. Very low frequency. Basically turns QQ into a bluff.....and it has too much showdown value for that.

    Great example of balancing out your play-style, bluff shove & value shove, both are the same. But, this is also a great example of why playing like Wes will most likely leave you “balanced” when you play against good players. “Balanced,” meaning you win nothing & you lose nothing, you’re left with winning the money you lost.

    He said, "I think if you got aces you got me'. Doug you had aces and didn't call. You can read and study all the books you want but when you're facing a big bet, it's all about instinct and courage. The study is a guide, the instinct and courage are innate.

    • @lightningsoulde
      @lightningsoulde 11 месяцев назад

      Completely different scenarios. Doug wasn't 5-bet and just called pre and faced a triple barrel bluff. He raised, got called, bet, bet, bet and got jammed on for 5x the last bet. That's tightening your calling range a bunch if you don't get 3:1 on a call there.

    • @andrewfathy4212
      @andrewfathy4212 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@lightningsoulde don't get me wrong, I'm sure that's not an easy call to make but he worked it out, it was a busted nut flush draw. It then just comes to whether you have the stones to go with your read, which he didn't. I don't blame him either, I can only imagine what it's like to be put under that much pressure. He also could have checked the river and caught the bluff, if Hank had jammed without the 200k initial bet then it's a fairly easy fold but my guess is, Hank would have checked the river or put in a decent sized bet which could be called.

    • @lightningsoulde
      @lightningsoulde 11 месяцев назад

      @@andrewfathy4212 yeah for sure. I also felt like a call was in order as the only shoving hands are QQ and JTd and everything else would have to be at least a little bit afraid of top set or raised earlier when the flush draw appeared etc.
      Also unlikely someone would shove 5x the bet with a value hand other than the nuts, but still a tough call to be made.

    • @SolvingLivePoker-sh9pp
      @SolvingLivePoker-sh9pp 11 месяцев назад

      He chose almost the perfect frequency of folding AA there. Solvers fold 30-50% depending on inputs.

    TBH this is why I hate having JJ or QQ. Very good starting hands in the top ten but very very hard to play when someone is betting like they have KK or AA. Wesley is betting like he has KK AA. I'd rather have 9 9 in this situation because it's an easy fold. Wesley is a good player because he know if he bets big it will look like he's bluffing and that's exactly what the Artist did.
