Respect to Stones Throw. Madlib's work ethic alone has made me want to work harder to be more prolific, if nothing else. Stone's Throw has the mojo. To this day, Wolf is the only person I've ever given a demo disc to.
I thought madlib was bad lol but Wolf puts me to sleep 😴 makes me not want to look into his projects because he talks so nonchalantly about it. It’s like it bores him to talk about anything.
There was a dude, went by the name of "Bueno", who worked at a record shop, and had some previous affiliation, or connects with Stone's Throw. Thank you, dude. I got to see many great musicians, and be exposed to new music, because of you. I found a Peanut Butter Wolf album, at a thrift store, it came with a DVD, with concert footage, including MF Doom, Madlib, and more. I'm so lucky. Peace.
He has a point but for now, it's very hard for aspiring artists to get any of the hardware they have in this video. My plan is to just start with digitally produced and then invest more in analog stuff as I get more money/if I get deeper into making music lol
madlib and koushik and doom back in the day did a lot of their beats on a roland sp-303 , they didn't have fancy gear like this and the music slapped way harder imho
What a wonderful video.... thanks for sharing that beautiful place and these wonderful people! woke up depressed, now im on my electribe making beats feeling way much better. great inspirtation
When I was a shorty in 84' Egyptian Lover was that shit that always got the breakers and poppers hype!!! Now when I produce and mix anything with an 808s in it I use those oldschool Egyptian Lover records as reference tracks...
When I came there in 2017 the people told me it didn't exist and u guys had moved ..I came all the way from london to try and find wolf didn't work YET
Not including the live/unreleased stuff in the vid: 1. Suite Intro - Karriem Riggins 2. Egypt, Egypt - Egyptian Lover 3. Suede Instrumental - NxWorries 4. Tandoor Heat - Karriem Riggins 5. Kokopelli - Mild High Club 6. Push - One Way 7. Bahia Dreamin - Karriem Riggins
I was saying the same thing. ''No madlib, Oh no, Dudley perkins?'' Are they even on stones throw anymore? I think madlib got his own record label though.
the only label i'd seriously consider signing to in a heartbeat
Quicker than that
It's wild because some of that labels best records were made with less quality stuff than the average bedroom pc studio nowadays.
Stones Throw Forever
Greatest underground label today.
Dont really feel like Stones Throw is underground, but it is super great :-)
Authenticity
what the fuck is underground ?
Amr Khalid non mainstream music
@@superultrathanksmom3845 Dude it's not commercial or mainstream it's for the culture

That explains how I saw Madlib in Highland Park when I used to live in that area 😭😭
peanutbutter wolf needs to calm down, he is way to excited in this interview lol

"Aything that's not on your laptop at home, it's a good step towards making better music" ouch
You get the vibe
bomb shelter was in the basement of the old stones throw house and some of the best music the label ever released was made in there imho

Egyptian Lover's statement applies to nowadays obviously. People didnt have laptops back then lol
Stones Throw, Rhymesayers, and Mello Music Group are the only labels I'd sign to as a rapper or artist
Proud fan of this label since the late 90's. Respect.
