Every Wu record i buy without even listening to it. This video explains why.
You should listen to them sometime they’re really good
Yooooo! Ricky Tinez has entered the chat! 😎
Are you still singing the same tune Ricky?
@@df4630 😔 nope haha, things got sketchy REAL FAST
Hearing him talk so passionately about his craft lights up my soul.
Love this man.
"You plug it in and you.. you shut down the venues to be totally honest" haha what a lad!
Haha I know had me in stitches also! Legend
Thought this was gonna be Wu-Tang related, not disappointed tho.
Same and same

Plz get him on Against The Clock
completely absorbed for the full 10mins. what a musician
Rap!st.
what
Saw this guy two weeks ago at Brussels jazz festival, absolutely crazy artist live!
I've not heard of this dude before but as soon as he played the Rhodes I teared up and could feel the soul. I love this can't wait to give his music a listen
MRTWO86 that is a wurli, not a rhodes.
James Reeno oh ok thanks. They sound very similar.
Have listen to Black Focus already? Wu plays on that album
Woah. You need to listen to Kiefer and have both your eyes crying. This puffed up dude here is merely shrimp cocktail appetizer.
strings of lights chords (i tihkn this is it)
left hand hits the D#, G, G#, C (in crescent octave order)
right hand hits two G's in 2 higher octaves
2nd chord is the same but starting at the G, so it is
left hand hits G, B, C, E in octave order
right hand hits the double B
3rd chord the same starting at Bb so
left hand hits Bb, D, D#, G
right hand hits the D in double octave
Abmaj7/Eb Cmaj7/G Ebmaj7/Bb typical neo-soul progression
The first cycle of chords is Abmaj7, Cmaj7, Ebmaj7. The melody itself is just G, B and D, you can add it as a higher note sometimes
The next cycle, that starts at 2:32 is Bbmaj7, Bmaj7, Cmaj7, then Bmaj7 and Cmaj7 keep repeating, you can add the same way, Bb and B as the melody that repeats
On 5:23 Three chords are played, Bbm7 starting on Ab, Gbm7 starting on E , Cmaj7 starting on G and Bmaj7 starting on Gb and they also repeat, with the melody on F, Db , E and Eb.
As it is played on a synthesizer, there is a lot of spontaneous sound customization, so it may vary a little bit. The time references are of the original song
Real people with real soul.
you know
Henry Wu + Grand Piano = Speechless
6:30 "I'll make that into a little house banger" gotta love Wu
“Just number 4 on the nord electro” 🤷♂️
Love it
I've watched this video once a day for like 2 years
"Just google Henry Wu"

his music is so deep, so elevated.
future legend right here
i agree
a true talent. nothing but good vibe
Real South London Don doing bitssss
Ajay Larr oi oi
always good to see this dude in something
Synth Jazz is such an under-explored genre. I mean I know there's a lot of it out there, I just have only started exploring it is what I mean.
Used to be called fusion.
Herbie Hancock has thoughts on that
frank z jazz from hell or allan holdsworth Atavachron
This mans starting a new jazz wave. Just wait and see. UK has always been a great place to start things
Kyle O'Reilly , under explored ? You gotta be kidding, I have collected over 2000 albums over 30yrs and still only scratching the surface
the juno 106 is truly a monster , it sits so luscious in a mix ive had the 60 and a lot of moogs but the 106 is so warm and thick it truly inspires nice tracks
amon tri not a monster. Was a budget synth in 1985 and still is. It only has one osc & one ADSR.
James Reeno the joy with synths is if you know them and synthesis you can get them to do whatever you want. Lack of oscillators can still be a pain but not a major issue.

Beautiful sound.
1:31 a few of the string chords

D#m9 root position
G#m9 second inversion
Emaj7/C#
F#m9 second inversion

That Korg board's amazing. From 0:54 to 1:03 it turns into a Roland Juno 106 and back again!
This dude is the jazz version of People Just Do Nothing
but more talented
Bwaaaahaha.
god he makes that juno sound so amazing
Those strings are dope!! Amazing!!
Those strings sound so dope.
What a figure for London Jazz.
im pretty sure GILLES knows how to spell his own name lol
Beyond talented in my view. thank god for WU
one of the best in the west this guy. can do it all
I listen to this guy a lot when drawing and everytime I hear this song, flashbacks come up.

This was great! Seems like a lovely guy and his music is gorgeous :)
Live he is just amazing
So dope. More of this please, Vinyl Factory. Thank you.
I love this so much and that last bit
Expected Wu Tang clan and got something totally different and was not disappointed. On to Spotify to find out more about him
I really love this video
KW is a beast
Omg...these dude is incredible! AND Korg needs to endorse him!
I wonder if Korg will reissue the Micropreset? Probably not, but who knows!
It just feels good
yet another venue tragically shut down by the stunning power of some guy's jazz synth
Fresh sounds! Cool bro...Ill be listening bro...you hv a nice touch..great chords
amazing but needs more Yussef Dayes
shaunweather is this the correct place to speculate what happened?
If it gets the message across that they were 🔥together then yes
Standard!
Brightest stars burn quickest and all that. Just have to be thankful for what was produced between them.
@@DS-rx7nz It seems they had a falling out..but i think they owe it to the world to make one more album together. nothing beats wu on keys and yussef on drums
heard about 60 seconds of playing and went straight to spotify to find more
A new King in town!
OH WOW MINOR AND MAJOR 9THS WITH PRESETS, MIND BLOWN 🙄 .
Love Kamaal Williams, such a talented creator. But really that Korg Micropreset lead is very easy to replicate. The Micropreset was a 1 OSC synth, thats the thing to remember. I used UAD's excellent Minimoog plugin and got very close. Just use a single saw, a little portamento, slow-ish attack on the filter envelope. Just crank the resonance about half way, reduce the cut-off until its sounding about right. The thing is to fiddle a bit with the settings until it's sounding right. Don't get tempted to use Osc 2 or 3, complexity will ruin it. I had my noise accidentally turned on, made it sound grittier and better IMO, just a touch, don't turn it right up.
Beautiful Groove & Cadence!
The grand piano jam is really special
So good!!
I need him and thundercat to collab
By the look of that board I'm sure it is a NE 3 so the sample is "String Quartet" which it's actually the number 4 in that model. You can go to NE 3 factory sounds and get the whole sample pack. Or you can go to Nord Sample Library 2.0 and enter in the String ensamble. There you have it. It isn't as far as I know a Mellotron sample but a Nord one. It can be confused because of the vintage vibe it has.
what breath of fresh air don
talent!
We he was on the grand.
"I mean look at it, its just nothing better."
What he plays at around 9:50 is "situations" from his album The Return. But in my honest and most sincere opinion it just sounds much more amazing on the Yamaha.
more of these please lmao
Amazing !!
Excellent !
Nord has come up! On the level of Motif/Fantom/Triton,,,,not just for nord leads anymore...ppl love these on stage!
I've a got a JUNO-6 more stable a bit more analog warmth with it. TAL-U-NO-LX vst for everything else! it will have all the punch and cut needed. Then a DeepMind12 for anything else..
legend
Great informative video thanks
1:33 and 4:20 are sooo 😌😌😌😌😌
It takes balls/talent to begin an interview wiff "you'll have to Google me"
Those last chords on the grand piano remind me of "Come Sunday" Joe Zawinul and Sam jones. Worth the listen (including nice introduction by Cannonball Adderley).
That phase pedal tho 😍
Ricky Gervais never ceases to amaze me. So talented!
that's uncultured af
People getting real buttmad about him not wanting to introduce himself lol. If you’ve heard his music you’d understand what he meant.
thanks for adding about 3k to my wishlist
i die every time i hear those "Situation" chords at @9:20
Wu and Floating Points need get on somethin together man
Yess Kamaal !!
If your talking sound alone ...tal 106 vst most certainly emulates the juno..the difference is that when you play a juno, you get to touch it and literally feel it and place what your hearing to physical touch and identity
They might be the best synthetic strings I have ever heard
What a skinny legend
I dream of owning an original Rhodes mk1, that kind of sound cannot be beaten or emulated imho
"just google me"
*Jurassic Park Intensifies*
that house banger became mr wu 😎
6:20 he actually did end making this into a little house banger haha. The progression is used on his track Mr Wu from his Wu Hen record.
That Korg Micro Preset sounds similar to an ARP Odyssey.
Fucking sick! WU laying down some m9s
Man is tight, he makes this wurli sounds while it has sustain issues in the mid range of the keyboards.
The Return 🙏
Amazing
Remind me of early Jamiroquai
bitch please
I would love to see him do a joint project with Herbie Hancock, and featured with the Headhunters.
This is Spinal Tap..... for Keyboardist
