1:58 Fun Fact.....the sample Madlib used for that Erykah Badu "The Healer" track was made originally by Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter’s dad, Daniel Bangalter aka Daniel Vanguard, who was a French disco producer in the 70’s. the track is Yamasuki "Kono Samourai" Peace!!!
"Everybody appreciates craftsmanship. The fact that you put a lot of time in it is not that special, but if you see how it's made, you have more appreciation for it"
That shot of him walking into the room @7:00 was wonderful. Sure, he's got thousands of instruments, but they don't come to life without him. It's certainly the artist, not the gear. Awesome video.
man, this guy is my hero...loves great music, lives in a great place, works in a chill environment...and gets to make music for a living. followed him ever since i saw him play a Lapalux tune...huge respect x
It's the hardest thing as a musician to find a place where you can build your studio without angry neighbors or super expensive rent. We need more shared places for musicians and producers like that.
Really? that's crazy. I was just thinking how great that such a space even exists. I feel that those kinda spaces could be even better then modern electronic music schools .Was this place a squat?
@@highhawk9632 It's very sad cause I really agree with you. Spaces like this 'make' the city and should be supported more. In contrast to the music schools you see everywhere nowadays, these are actual spots for musicians to develop themselves and their music instead of making money teaching kids how to use Ableton. It used to be a squat way back, but has been bought and regulated for a long time now. In those days there was a music venue called Tivoli, which went through the whole proces of regulating the spot. When Tivoli moved out, Kyteman and a bunch of artists had to move out of their old location as well and were able to move in to this one. On a lease for an x amount of years. But now local municipality sold the building and they are gonna make a hotel out of it. So Kytopia has to move again, but till this day they still haven't found the right location.
Honestly this is super inspirational, I love this guys work and dedication to sound design. Not jealous, not jealous, not jealous (OK a little bit jealous) of that great studio lifestyle too! Thank you for sharing this piece of musical genius / work of art!
This video blew my mind a year ago after finding your works. Watching it again is still 100% invigorating to the mind. I never thought of using Live in that manner. It seems so effortless as you move through the equipment, something that only happens with loads of dedication. Being a multi-instrumentalist is really the pinnacle of production. Mega respect!
This is massively inspiring for me right now. I've been creating my own songs and beats on Garageband, and I could relate very much to what he said about getting too deep into the creating process forgetting what's going to happen next. Lately I've been very doubtful about creating music because it feels like no one will like it and suddenly I want to quit, but this guy has given me the inspiration to keep on going.
never forget, in the end the true artist must create for him'herself. If you make your happiness dependent on an audience or someone else's approval you will always be owned by someone else and your art will suffer as it will not be a reflection of who you are and what you hold inside, but what you think the world expects of you.
@@splashgvng I know. Just don't get what the joke is supposed to be. What trick is it supposed to be? why are they supposed to hate him? I'm a lo fi producer and Im not seeing it, so I was curious
I love the fact that this video was made by Ableton, posted on Ableton's channel but the story is all about the artist not about the product. Great strategy❤️
That was so cool! I love Binkbeats and I am happy that he gave this interview and shared some insights into his music creation process. Such a talented and down to earth person!
Absolutely love your studio. I really like the workshop feel. Different from most high tech surgically clean studios. Those are cool too, but I like this just as much. Feels like home.
Great video on a producer I've been really curious about. Answered a lot of questions about his live setup. Turns out the secret is not some gear I don't have, but intense dedication. Great job Ralf Kleinermanns!
Binkbeats, this is so great and inspiring. I'm really happy you found your way with creating your own music with the whole livelooping thing. The craftsmanship is amazing, the music itself is the one I never get tired of, it brings emotions and images to my mind. Good luck!
This dude is hands down the most talented artist i have ever heard. And no, it's not about looping, it's about sheer talent. All you fools that think otherwise, where's your music? No? Shut your mouth and appreciate what you don't understand.
Binkbeats totally inspiring amazing musician! Doing same thing trying the lay my loops quick but no where near as awesome as bink! Massive respect and blessed love ❤️💛💚
Discovered Binkbeats by stumbling on his own beats first. Inspiring method of reducing the distance between a creator and a live performance. And Kyropia is amazing!
the thing that is most impressive in my opinion is his ability to make his instruments sound like the ones from the original songs. He doesn't just remake the songs but does it very sonically accurately to the original. The drum beat he did for the dilla song sounds exactly like dillas drums like wtf?! He does a lot of processing and mixing that he doesn't show you, in order to get the sounds that good.
At first I thought it was kind of super advanced nano-complex-synthetic marterials and very cool structured forms, but with your help now I see those are just books=) Agree - that is very clever. Want to build the same!
so so so so so nice to see the man behind it all ... the place in holland with the rooms actually looks like hogwarts ... mixed with a sitcom ... mixed the teen titans SO dope
Amazing! It feels like our vision is identical. Been looping since 2013 and all the practice and speculations on it up until now made me realise the same as you, it’s all about the musical freedom and expression rather than the fact that you loop. It’s about keeping the live feel as you also and make people feel connected to the craft as you also talk about. Thank you very much for this video 🙏🏼
He seems to be saying that performing covers was a shortcut to get people interested, compared to playing originals. That originals are harder to draw interest, but better in the long run. I was wondering if he today was advising himself back then, would he recommend recording the covers again? Or some balance between the two?
Wow--thank you so much for this video Ableton and sharing yourself Binkbeats! Puts all my struggles with my own creative process into such useful perspective. Grateful to learn from you and can't wait to go explore more of your sound!

mind blown !! a true artist. Humble, honest , plays from the soul. I wish you every success.
Can't help but think this was why Ableton was created and evolved in the way it has, 'Man Feed Machine' a brilliant reminder to modern musicianship.
