I traded in my Glock 19 a few years back, but not because it wasn't a great handgun. It just didn't feel right in my hand, and after trying the Walther PPQ, I found where I wanted to be. I come back and watch this video every once in a while as it is a wonderful review of all facets of this handgun. Very well done review.
+Michael L good Lord! I thought it was ten. Did they recently change it. I was just looking up N.Y. law the other day as my wife may end up with a high paying job there. xP
Michael L Right on. Thanks dude! If she does get the job, I probably won't bother trying to get a carry permit, as we will only stay for a couple years, then right back on home to countryland Pennsyltuckey where we can have the larger mags, carry easily and buy practically whatever whenever, and go to the range down the road at pretty much any given time. XD Respect for having the carry permit in NY my man! Well done! =D
We just bought a PPQ M2 for my 13 year old son to shoot IDPA. I wanted a gun in 9mm that would fit his hand. With the adjustable backstraps this gun will fit any hand. The trigger is an absolute dream....way better than any of my Glocks of XD pistols. Extremely accurate as well. My wife wants one for herself and so do I.
whats crazy about this gun is the trigger just gets better and better the more rounds you put in it. It gets really smooth after 1500 rounds or so. Im not kidding when i say its the best striker fired trigger ever made. Period.
You can smooth it yourself with a little Flitz polish on the trigger components. The main drag is from the camming surface of the safety cam on the trigger bar where it hits the slide safety plunger. No need to wait.
I got to get one of these pistols, I seen a m1 but just not a fan of trigger guard mag release, I dry fired and couldn't believe the trigger, good review as always!
Like most German products they are quality and well done. I have an old Walter pp it nice to still see they still put the target they tested the pistol with.
My PPQ M1 is easily my favorite pistol. Great ergos, awesome trigger and the M1 has the paddle release which I prefer with my small hands. I've got glocks, XD, HK and more. I'll buy other handguns in the future for the collection but I really doubt they will be able to beat the PPQ.
When a gun gets a review like this from sootch and many other big names on RUclips, it makes for an easy purchase. You did not let me down. I love my PPQ. Thanks!
PPQ is the most underrated pistol out there. I have a 2nd gen with paddles. Best 9 mm I have ever owned. Well over 2500 rounds through and not one malfunction. It eats everything from Critical Defense to White Box to Wolf. Reliable, urgo, and accurate. Trigger is primo right out of the box. What more can you ask for.
I have one of the original PPQ's with the paddles. Being left handed it makes for very quick mag release. Love it! Can't wait for the 5" M1. I started with the Glock 19 and sold it after testing at the range. 65 yards at a 10"X20" steel target...3 out of 10 with the Glock and 8-9 out of 10 with the PPQ. I did this 3 times to confirm. The 19 was sold.
I've been very satisfied with my PPQ M1 Classic for the last few years, and I really enjoyed your review. It's very well done, and as a huge fan of the PPQ... it's just fun to see it being enjoyed by others! Great video.
This video is one of the ones that helped me decide on getting a PPQ M2. Just bought it last Friday at Bud's in Sevierville! I can't wait to take it to the range tomorrow. Thank you so much for the informative video. ~Sam
Difference in capacity between the 9mm and the .40 is quite substantial. Normally you would expect 2 rounds less but 4 rounds? For comparison, the Glock 22 holds 15 rounds in .40 and both are full size.
Yes love it....looking to get the 45 next month. Almost did but saw a new sig 229 for $649 so went with that, figure if it's not my style I'll have no problem getting $750 for it
Tony Viera KOOL CONGRATS!!! YEAH I'M DEBATING ON GETTING THE PPQ45 NEXT WEEK OR A SIG 224 EXTREME, BIRTHDAY GIFT TO MYSELF😀 I'M THINKING THE SIG SEEING HOW I'LL SAVE $340!!! FOUND ONE ON SALE FOR A GREAT PRICE!!! ANYWAY ENJOY THAT 45 LET ME KNOW HOW IT SHOOTS
Mid 40's and just purchased my first three guns over the last 6 months. Really enjoy your videos and reviews! Even if I don't own the gun, I watch for the knowledge. Thank you! Be well!
This is the most detailed look at this pistol that I could find. Much appreciated. I thought I had my decision made for my first handgun, but this PPQ jumped to the top of my list. Especially with the $100 rebate they have going right now. Subscribed.
Thanks to this video, and more than a little bit of influence from *****, I'm planning to get this one. The Boss has already made it clear that I can't start a collection so I better choose carefully which pistol to go with...I think this is it..
***** At the closest place to me that I can find one (M2 at The Gun Dealer) it'll run around $900. So it'd be a one and done probably...looks like well worth it.. :-)
***** It's looking like Spring when I can get it...that's Bonus time..if the company hands them out this year...been a couple of SNAFU's at the refinery last year..
The glock is my favorite pistol with a double stack mag. This looks like a glock from the future, I need one. Has all the best features of the glock but more redefined. Good review.
I have the Walther PPQ M1 and have to say it's my all-time favorite, the trigger is perfect, and you have no trouble keeping your rounds in the same group every time, like they say, you get what you pay for, and you just can't go wrong on the PPQ.
I really appreciate your review on this amazing pistol. It was truly a joy to watch as you mention all of the great things about it. I was agreeing and shaking my head till the very end! It was my first firearm purchase a year ago for concealed carry and will probably be the only pistol I'll ever need. Thanks for the hard work and effort. It doesn't go unnoticed, as you can tell!
I just got one of these as my 1st handgun a little over a month ago and I love it! 100 steel cased rounds so far without a hiccup straight out of the box. My fingers are so thick they only fit the grooves on full sized glocks and and I wanted something smaller so this was it.
This is such a great pistol. I've had mine for a year, and would not change my decision to buy it if I had choice - even with the HK VP9 becoming more popular. Not a single malfunction, perfect ergos, and super accurate. I love that it's done right, straight out of the Walther box.
Calbenmike There are plenty of reliability tests that contradict those to which you are referring. It is VERY reliable. People need to consider sample size and variables; not all mud, sand and water (with debris) are equal. MAC's test was not scientific.
The fact is H&K said the VP9 isn't supposed to be a combat ready gun, whereas the PPQ is essentially identical to the PPQ Navy (obviously combat ready) sans marine cups and a drainage hole. I've put my PPQ through a wicked torture test and it was fine.
Good review. I held this gun and try the trigger. I love the trigger...I think its the best striker-fire trigger ever, the only one that comes close is the HK VP9. But PPQ wins by a hair. I'm getting mine this weekend, the 5" version. You should do a review on the 5".
Proud to say I'm the new owner of a PPQ M2 Navy SD. What a magnificent gun!! If only Walther would bring the price of mags and accessories down...BTW, one of my two mags that came with mine is marked as 15 rounds, but holds 17. I figured that out by looking at the description on the Walther website.
Hands down best trigger out of box without any modifications. Probably my favorite handgun on the market. The PPS is a great one as well. Thanks for the video Sootch.
I carried a P99 as an LEO. My current favorite EDC handgun is my PPQ M2. The P99's trigger mimics a DA/SA handgun. The PPQ mimics a DAO. I much prefer the P99 trigger.
Awesome video Sootch. Your giving this pistol the credit it deserves... We love this gun. Were planing on picking up another PPQ in .40 cal in the next week or 2. When you have time come check out a few of our video's.
I deeply regret selling my Walther P99 while I was unemployed for about six months. I watched this video and now I am considering replacing/upgrading to the Walther PPQ M2
Excellent review! Rented one at the range a week ago and first 5 rounds were right on target at 7 yrds (2.5" spread) - I was amazed as I am just an average shooter. The feel of this gun in your hand is amazing and it seems light weight compared to many others. I ordered one last week from Buds and hope to get it soon.
+Brian McKinny .40 is a shitty high pressure round being phased out. Go with the 9mm that is more reliable, has better recoil that's less snappy and to the sides, cheaper, more available, and more capacity.
+Brian McKinny Ballistically there is very little difference between 9mm and 40 cal. 40 cal is being phased out and will become harder to find in the years going forward. It will also be harder to trade or sell your gun because of these reasons if you decide to do so...something to think about , choose wisely.
I ended up getting the Glock 19 Gen 4 first. The next two guns on my list are the Walther PPQ M2, and the Sig Sauer P320 Full Size - I want a good range pistol like the P320 that has the capability of being converted to a Compact or Subcompact through a change in the frame and slide. I can also change calibers with the P320 quite easily as well - get a new barrel and recoil spring/guide rod, and the 9mm will fit in the .40 cal slide/frame, as well as the .357 Sig... Versatility is the Sig Sauer P320's middle name. And boy, is that gun a sweet shooter!
I've had this wonderful pistol in 40 cal for a while now and I love it. My only dislikes about it are the magazine prices and lack of accessories. I did manage to find a sale at midway usa on some extended mags, which have been hard to find at a discount anywhere. They normally retail for over 40 dollars (sometimes 50) a piece and I found them for about 25 so I picked up 3 more. Some people don't like the air between the factory sights but I have no problem with them. No one I know complains about the trigger because it's the best factory trigger I've ever seen and it really complements the excellent ergos and grip quite nicely. I recommend anyone interested in this pistol to try it out at their local range, if they rent these. I did and I compared it to Glock, Smith and Wesson and Springfield offerings and I liked the total package on the Walther best. I also own a Glock 27 for EDC so this isn't a slight against those other companies, just a preference. Highly recommended. Thanks for the video.
Great review! Was torn between this and the S&W M&P. This review made up my mind after seeing the quality workmanship, trigger response and overall looks of the firearm...
I was reading some of the comments and the ones that don't like it have obviously not shot one. I have an XD, I shot the M&P CORE 5.25, shot the H&K, Glock, Sig and I would buy a second PPQ before I'd spend money on something I wouldn't use. I actually traded a CZ 85 for it even up. What a great deal. We shoot USPSA so I get plenty of practice. Try it, you'll like it!
As a PPQ owner, I would say that the P30 is of higher quality, but you pay an extra $400 for it. Trigger wise, the PPQ is light years ahead of the P30 in terms of feel.
You are saying that the tennifer finish is very hard. I had my Walther PPQ drilled and taped to mount a Holoson 507C optic and the gun smith did not tell me that he encountered any problem with it.
Best gun you can buy in todays market! Owned one for 2 weeks now. Flawless performance! Dead perfect accuracy! Fast trigger! Fast mag dump-reload! Fast slide release! Buy one-shoot one and you will know! Still love my CZ's! Still love my M&P's! sold my glocks! Sorry glocktards'... I gave them a go, then they had to go! Nothing special about them!
I think guys get to Glock & stop. Shame. I shot a Glock 22 it was OK. I'd heard & read about the PPQ. Bought 1 @ the "buy it now price" on gun broker ($546) & I aint ever looked back!
The PPQ is the best striker fired pistol money can buy, and better than most DA/SA guns also, depending on your trigger preference. The bore axis is a tiny bit high, but with a little practice it's easy to control the flip. I can maintain fist-sized groups at 10m doing full-speed mag dumps. This gun is a shooter, hands down. Also it's easy to upgrade the sights to PPS steel sights for $30.
Sootch, could you place the steel targets a little further away from the camera, because the steel makes a lot of noise and i cant here the gunshots because of it
Dang it. Tnp just made me buy a knife (totally forced). Now I want this expensive ass pistol. My wife/accountant does not care for you. :) awesome review.
M1 owner here. I have it in .40 and it is incredible. What a sweet shooter, even in the .40. Very easy to shoot, due to the fantastic trigger. Love it! My only complaint is, where the stippling is absent, the polymer is too smooth.
Just one warning about the PPQ, you will lose your practice on clearing malfunctions and hopefully you won't forget how. Mine does not have a single malfunction even after 3000 round counts, I think I should stop counting further.
I agree. Most Americans prefer the button, against all logic. I heard that Walther might be cancelling production of the M1. They threatened to do this before, and brought it back, but this might be for real this time. I already have mine, so I don't care, but I might just buy another before they are all gone. The m1 is simply a superior system. Ambidextrous, no accidental actuations, and it also takes magazines from the P99, both factory and aftermarket extended capacity mags, 20, 22 & 30 round.
Myanameis Beestingz yep. instead of offering something different and better, they caved to pressure to be the exact same as other manufacturers. I have several of their guns, but they are all paddle release. I have no desire to buy the new ones because I like having magazines that are compatible, and I stubbornly believe the magazine release is much better, if it even matters at all.
You can tell the Germans made that pistol. The machine work on the inside of that thing is amazing. Nary a tool mark to be found. Excellent.
walther makes some damn good firearms
lmao "15 rounds for the free states. 10 rounds for the not so free." i love it.
+Ian H ..hits home for me I'm in Connecticut..not so free.
+henry ford I'm in NY ours is 7rds for handguns!!
+Michael L good Lord! I thought it was ten. Did they recently change it. I was just looking up N.Y. law the other day as my wife may end up with a high paying job there. xP
+Shotgun Zombie last I checked it was 7, hope they changed it though, won't have to carry as many mags then to make up for it haha
Well done! =D

The trigger is an absolute dream....way better than any of my Glocks of XD pistols. Extremely accurate as well. My wife wants one for herself and so do I.
+William Bennett The PPQ is a sleeper hit. The secret is finally out. The PPS steel sights fit on the PPQ with minimal filing and are great.
Walther is not marketing this gun very well at all in the US
Sootch, this video helped my decide to buy my PPQ in 2014. It's still my favorite handgun and has had zero failures. Thanks for doing this video!
I like the idea of this M2 version. Putting the controls in a standard position just makes sense.
I'm a major fan of the classic. I hope that they keep both available. I'm looking a a Classic Navy version.
I like the paddle mag release. Actually prefer it.
Great video again! No rambling, no playing with the slide like a five year old kid, no bias just a good look at the gun with good info. Thanks!
Glad you like it bro! It's a amazing pistol, and I love mine!
One of the best if not the best pistols on the market. I have glocks, sigs, m&p's, hk's, rugers, etc..... And this is my favorite
Same here.👍
whats crazy about this gun is the trigger just gets better and better the more rounds you put in it. It gets really smooth after 1500 rounds or so. Im not kidding when i say its the best striker fired trigger ever made. Period.

WOW 1500 ROUNDS !! HAD MY P99 SINCE 2000 MAYBE 300 ROUNDS ????
I got to get one of these pistols, I seen a m1 but just not a fan of trigger guard mag release, I dry fired and couldn't believe the trigger, good review as always!
I want..."Drools"
held one, the most comfortable grip Ive ever held in my life.
So far he hit the bullseye the best with this 9mm
Like most German products they are quality and well done. I have an old Walter pp it nice to still see they still put the target they tested the pistol with.
OK , I'll get another gun, you sold me:)
Lord knows you need it : ) You will love it my friend.
I hope you go get one Tom. I like to see you do a review on it. Including range time.
I love mine. 🙂👍

I am forever sold on them.

In this time and age its great to know there are PATRIOTS in the USA! God Bless America!
Yep and now one finally lives in the White House again! We haven't had that for 8 years!
Jennifer Billis-Gehrke
Amen !!
Can you compare Walther PPQ M2 with Sig P320 and HK VP9? Thanks

+Tony Tyler the 45 shoots very nice you'll like it.
Great review! I was at the range this past Saturday and I met a former Marine that had this gun.
Dead on shooter. Thanks!
I feel like Scootch is one of the best gun reviewers. Him and Firearm guy.
I wish more people would give this pistol a go. For a stock gun, the trigger is truly a dream.
Mid 40's and just purchased my first three guns over the last 6 months. Really enjoy your videos and reviews! Even if I don't own the gun, I watch for the knowledge. Thank you! Be well!
Shot it at A Gander Mountain free range shoot. And was a pure joy to shoot. Yes the trigger is that good.
Long live the Republic 🇺🇸 🎊 🎉 💥

This video sold me - picked one up yesterday!
"My only complaint: It didn't take out all the orange."
LOL, that's a bold politcal statement, and I like it!
Just bought this baby today, loving it so far!

Now that is a tactical pistol if I ever saw one
With the Hearing protection bill, this with a silencer is going to be so friggin' awesome.

Well sootch00, now you have given me another thing to think about. I was set on getting the FNs 9 but I really am liking this gun.
IMO better than the HK VP9 and less expensive to boot.
Oscar Delta The VP9 is garbage.
Zach Zach There are numerous reliability test videos on RUclips that show it's anything but.

PPQ M1 or M2 is on my birthday wish. Sootch00 is by far the best at person to review hand guns. Keep up the good work!
Good review. I held this gun and try the trigger. I love the trigger...I think its the best striker-fire trigger ever, the only one that comes close is the HK VP9. But PPQ wins by a hair. I'm getting mine this weekend, the 5" version. You should do a review on the 5".
I love the music you place at the beginning of your videos. They make the firearms truly feel like an art of engineering. Keep the good videos up.

Hands down best trigger out of box without any modifications. Probably my favorite handgun on the market. The PPS is a great one as well. Thanks for the video Sootch.
I love my M1 PPQ. Love it...love it...love it...
Great review. The fact you take the time to edit your videos is appreciated. I really need to range test this pistol.
Thanks Brother. If I didn't edit my videos, they'd be 2 hours long! Lol! The PPQ rocks.
I love my PPQ M2 Navy edition, looking forward to get a 5" in the future for competition gun. Got to love my Walther~
I carried a P99 as an LEO. My current favorite EDC handgun is my PPQ M2. The P99's trigger mimics a DA/SA handgun. The PPQ mimics a DAO. I much prefer the P99 trigger.
Great review Brother I have the PPQ in 9mm they are Great Pistols
OUTSTANDING review, you are the gold standard of you tube reviewing :) I plan to get one at the Gun Show coming up at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY

Love my 4" M1 PPQ and my 5" M2.
Great review. Great pistol.
I like how it comes from the factory with polished feed ramps!
Great handgun.
Melonite is the Ferritic Nitrocarburizing process S&W uses. Glock dropped the Tennifer trademark and just calls it Salt Bath Nitrocarburizing now.

I have tested a bunch of 9's. I chose The PPQ . I'm VERY HAPPY with this Pistol!
I've gotta get me one of these - the only question will be whether I go for the 9mm or the .40 caliber version...

Interesting note: you can actually see a cartridge in the chamber from the side. The glint of brass is easily visible.
Heyy anda membawa nama rrq m2😂

I was reading some of the comments and the ones that don't like it have obviously not shot one. I have an XD, I shot the M&P CORE 5.25, shot the H&K, Glock, Sig and I would buy a second PPQ before I'd spend money on something I wouldn't use. I actually traded a CZ 85 for it even up. What a great deal. We shoot USPSA so I get plenty of practice.
Try it, you'll like it!
outstanding side arm.
Best handgun period
fits like a glove shoots like a dream
Interesting gun. Reminds me of the P30 in a way. I met an armored car guy recently and this was what he had in his holster. Enjoyed the vid.
It's real similar to the P30. I'm planning a comparison soon. Thanks~

I think it is as good as the P30, but with a much better trigger.
Just my 2 cents.

and less expensive!
As a PPQ owner, I would say that the P30 is of higher quality, but you pay an extra $400 for it. Trigger wise, the PPQ is light years ahead of the P30 in terms of feel.

Yeah. PPQ and PPX (even cheaper) have both fantastic triggers.
Cool! happy to hear you like the PPQ.
Hey how does this compare to CZ p07?
The PPQ is the best striker fired pistol money can buy, and better than most DA/SA guns also, depending on your trigger preference. The bore axis is a tiny bit high, but with a little practice it's easy to control the flip. I can maintain fist-sized groups at 10m doing full-speed mag dumps. This gun is a shooter, hands down.
Also it's easy to upgrade the sights to PPS steel sights for $30.

I've watched many gun review videos and yours are by far the best. Excellent video production and only pertinent information. Thanks!
lovely pistol, i think im going to get one.
German Engineering :D
Nichts zu danken..
Nice review.. only heared good things about the PPQ until now
I just got one of these. This exact model. My first firearm. Can’t find any ammo but I can’t wait to go with an instructor to the range!
Just one warning about the PPQ, you will lose your practice on clearing malfunctions and hopefully you won't forget how. Mine does not have a single malfunction even after 3000 round counts, I think I should stop counting further.
I have a PPQ M1 Navy. I'm left handed, and I don't mind the paddle magazine release. Best Semi I've ever owned!
I really prefer the M1.
***** me three
Me as well. I have no idea why they offered the m2 as I really feel the mag release is inferior to the paddle version.
sirmorluk not only is it inferior, but it also requires a new magazine design.
Another great video sootch. I picked a ppq awhile back and love it! It even makes me a decent shooter.
