Agreed, it's my favorite part. It's what I watch for since I already have my favorite picks. I'm a daniel smith user, but I also enjoy white nights and qor. Qor I reserve for play time and the more loose idgaf paintings. But when I'm seriously painting is daniel smith. For me there is no other choice. It's their range. I'm not a big fan of optical brightners. I don't want my paintings to look like they are back light by neon signs. Which means I don't want to mix and make every color I use look natural. Because of daniel smith's range I don't have to. I recently tried Woodlands by prima marketing. I'm considering ditching daniel smith for them because of the tone of the colors alone.
I remember my first watercolors was reeve's and was disappointed on how I was finding it hard to use, then I picked up a few tubes of Sakura Koi in National Book Store and was blown away. Glad that I gave watercolors another chance, and its been my favorite medium ever since. Awesome review kuya Allan!
Thank you Allan. The only Japanese paints I have are Turner watercolors. They are sold through Jerry's Artoramma. The only weak colors in the line are the Mayan colors. The rest are very good and affordable for professional grade paints. Take care.
This was a great video. Very helpful and educational. Well rounded in topic. I'm new to water color and an trying to figure out what brands to invest in since I only paint for myself but I do want something better than the kind I have now. Seeing how many different brands you tested was great. I like the swatch comparison and loved the sample painting. If I had one request, it would be to ask you to sell PDF coloring pages of your sample paintings so I can download and trace and paint along.
Thank you for appreciating my work. 🙏 With regards to the pdf, i am not sure how i can do that, but if you can/like, you may screenshot the paintings, print it, and trace. I don't mind. 😊 but please do show me some of your work when you're done. 😉
Were u able to attend Daniel Smith X Art Caravan? I was lowkey looking for you there😅💗 I missed watching good watercolor reviews like this. Always appreciate your videos!
Naku. I wasn't able to attend, been too busy rin talaga lately. RavenFox and I were chatting about the event nga eh. Sayang. I hope there's a repeat soon. 🙏 thank you. 🥰
Have you ever heard of pinax extra watercolor? They started selling brushes and easels, then began repackaging Korean watercolors. A few years ago they bought an old bankrupt paint factory in Russia and launched their premium line of single-pigment watercolors, calling it Pinax Extra. There are a lot of rare high-quality paints at an affordable price. Now they have two large sets in stock, a bunch of small sets and a lot of unique shades sold individually.
Wow. I actually have not heard of Pinax till you mentioned it. I hope it gets more exposure and reaches more artists. 🙏 i love unique and remote brands. And to know that they offer single pigments only, that doubles my curiosity. 🤩
I am receiving some new paints today (Not sakura koi though) but I guess this is a reminder for me to paint more. The koi paints in cake was one of my first few watercolors besides the prang and reeves one.
Yay. I'm excited for you. Please let us know what you're receiving. 😉 and sicne you remembered it, yes go ahead and paint. Haha. Me too. The Koi Sketch Box was my 1st set i bought when from my salary, after Prang (college). It was good till I discovered professional grades. Haha
@AllanJayQuesada I received the Kuretake Gansai Art nouveau set. I really love the muted colors it has and think would pair very well with my Boku Undo set. Gansai paints are fun to play with for sketchbook use
Kakauwi ko lang galing OJT.... Panoorin ko ulit ng mas maigi.... Hehe..... Diba mas maganda to kuya?... Kaso me touch pa to ng student although sabi is "FINE"..... Hehe
I love that you compare brands through a whole mini painting below the swatches!
Thank you for appreciating the format. 🙏 🎨 🖌 😉

Awesome review kuya Allan!
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have very similar journey so I can relate. But mine then was Prang. Hahaha.
Salamat. 🙏

I agree with the Japanese. I much prefer a plastic tube over a metal tube. Metal tubes always leak, break, puncture etc.
Definitely makes sense. 👌
Did you try alpha artist watercolor?
Not yet, but I would love to someday.
Back to Arches WC Paper huh 😊
Hahaha. Yes, back to proper reviews. 😁

Oo mas maganda siya nang konti although magkahawig sila. For school grade, mataas quality nito kaya medyo mahal din.hehe
