I have a very old version of them. Many years ago they used aluminum tubes and that is true, the color dried faster in the tube and cracks. Koi is also Sakura. I am glad to see they switched to plastic tubes (not so sustainable, but that is better for the colors to be preserved). I live them, the are very opaque, more than wastern watercolors at least from my experience.
I got the 18 set over ten years ago, the colors are great for a student grade paint. I am amazed that after a decade, they are still in good condition. Only 1 tube was hardened inside after all that time.
Great review . Love your painting ! I am careful about buying student grade paints because I participate in artists exhibits where you can sell your paintings ,therefore I try to get the best paints whenever I can afford them . I enjoy your reviews . Please , don’t stop ! Again thanks for your honest review , as always .😃
Thank you Petra for watching and for your support always. 🙏 of course by all means, as long as we can afford, let's reach for the best materials for our art products. It's part of our responsibility for our patrons. I salute you for that. 🙏
Hmmmmm..... Lets say sa tatlong sakura(koi solid: mat:koi extra fine) , mas better yung nasa itim na box... Me flocculation din pero for me mas maganda yung nasa itim na box. .... Mas kilala yun e..tsaka masasabi ko better ang flow at mixability...for me lang yun kuya ha?...... For me sa talo mas maganda yun...
True.
Maganda itong Mat as school grade. Take note, school grade is mas mababa pa sa Student grade. Hehe. Pero ayun smooth siya mag spread. Yun pinaka gusto ko dito. May link ka nung Miya? Baka meron pala ako niyan. May nabili kasi ako noon mag 2 yrs na di ko pa nareview.hahah
Yes, I do. It's actually been long overdue. I have collected tons of pads and papers, but I have not formulated my review format yet. My bad. 😔 I have both professional and academy versions of Baohong. I have only used the pro grade Baohong, and I love it. It almost feels like using arches, except that the grains of Baohong have more visible patterns.
Regarding the color swatch of the Sakura Koi Pocket Field Sketch Box, do you, by any chance, happen to remember if you did it prior or after 2017? I've read something about Sakura Koi Pocket Field Sketch Boxes going through some changes around that time, so I was wondering if they had perhaps changed their watercolor formula as well.
Hii. I did the review and swatches of thr pocket field in 2019 but I bought the paints in 2016. So it's definitely an older batch. I hope they've improved the formula now of the paints and not just an update of the packaging. Thank you for sharing this information. 🙏
@AllanJayQuesada One can hope, haha! Thank you so much for the amazing watercolor reviews by the way. Don't think I've ever seen a person that has tested as many as you. It's quite impressive and a feat! Love hearing your personal thoughts on the different watercolors, as well as the beautiful pieces you create with them to test the paints and showcase their potencial. Keep up the good work! 👏
I love watching you paint, watching how you make a landscape appear. You make even the lowest craft-grade paint look good.
Thank you so much for appreciating my work. 🙏 🎨
What a good thing to wake up to. Good Morning!
Good morning. Paints for Monday Morning. 🌞 🎨 🖌
After so many samples i had to subscribe thx
Thank you. 🙏

Thanks Jay. The review was most instructive. Keep up the good work!!
You're very welcome! 🙏 thanks too.

Wow. Thats amazing. Most paints, misbehave after a decade. Japan-made paints are really high quality.
Great review . Love your painting !

You always have great reviews, thx for sharing 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much for appreciating my work. 🙏
Can't wait.
Siguro kasi dahil Japan-made kaya pino pagkagawa kahit school grade. 😊

Hello. Are you planning to test out different watercolour papers as well? Arches, Fabriano, Strathmore, etc? What are your thoughts of Baohong paper?

Thank you for the review and inspiration=3

Thank you rin for watching po. 🙏
These paints are made for curious artist and they are good for practices. Better get a Winsor Cotman for the price 😅
Yes, especially if you're in Western parts of the world.
