How does a timer change the way that you train? I have been seriously thinking on buying a shot timer and kicking it back and forth in my head but I don't want to spend $100 to $125 on something that will eventually lay around and collect dust.
I had an automatic and great grip with my pistol but 5 months ago I had surgery on my support hand pinky finger that was locked straight out at 90 degrees from Dupuytrens disease. My pinky finger is straight now and functional but after 12 years of being locked straight at 90 degrees my support hand grip is all messed up and I'm having a hard time unfucking it and I thought about going to a class and seeing if a good instructor can see what's going on but the closest a known trainer comes to my rural Ohio area is 5 hours one way and when I tell them that I can't "Run" like normal and that I have a stiff legged hop from 5 surgeries on my left hip I get told that I would hold the rest of the class up so they can't help me sooooo I am close to designating myself as cannon fodder and may not even need to unfuck where my support hand is gripping the gun but the shot timer idea comes from maybe going back to the beginning and trying to remember the lessons and basics that I was taught starting at age 5 soooo 55 years ago

I’ve been shooting since the 1960s, and a veteran like a lot of you guys. One thing I continue to see at the range: people will run their drills, shoot the hell out of their pistol or rifle, and then the slightest malfunction occurs and they’re stumped. They have virtually no familiarity with the weapons system they’re using. I call them Gucci gunners. $2000 rifles, $1500 sights, and practically zero knowledge of the basics. It’s dangerous. Not just for them, but for everyone around them. You’d think with the advent of YT and the internet, people would watch and learn, but many don’t. A few weeks ago, guy next to me was using an empty mag and banging his red dot over and over in between shots. When the range went cold, I had to ask him what he was doing?? He said I’m trying to get this thing zeroed, but I think my picatinny rail is bad, I can’t get the lines to move over far enough. 😳😬I shit you not. I said can I look? I said see these turrets? That’s what you turn to align your crosshairs etc etc. He had no idea. So after we got him all set, he started asking other questions, which I was happy to help with. But as I went back to my lane, I’m thinking jeezes man, guys got a $2000 rig, and knows nothing about it. Please, help your friends out there and teach them the basics. You could save a life, even your own if you’re in the wrong lane at the wrong time.

Love what you do Bro... I wish more guntubers would get political and push freedom/historical education like you do before they lose their platforms to the anti gun corps running them. I know a lot of gun owners dont want to hear it but they need to, they need to be beat over the head with the truth. Because If they dont wake up we are going to lose whats left of our freedoms. 100 million gun owners cant be stopped if we all worked together as we make up almost half of the voting age citizens in this country.
I appreciate you putting out low round count training scenarios. With everything going on right now I dont want to spend the extra cost to train like I used to and I dont want to break into my reserves either. With business slowing and employees to pay, its hard to justify the large round count training days of old. All of my employees are now gun people and we go to the range once a month as a "team building exercise", I have even been able to convert a couple of them.
Keep up the good work Reid, you are appreciated for what you do. Maybe before you completely retire I can get out there for some classes.

Good, no frills training/practice. When I teach new shooters, I don't allow them to use optics until they've learned iron sights first. I wonder how many folks actually practice with their flip up back up iron sights on their rifles? How many actually have them? How many have at least zeroed them?
