I was getting some pretty good strikes on a jig yesterday. None of them could get up enough speed to penetrate the ice, but I heard some good solid thuds.

Agree on the lethargic fish comment. If they aren't biting the jig, switch to a creature and slow down. The 1/4 oz. weight will make you slow down. Especially on rivers they love that creature. My thought is the current keeps those larger flappers moving. Great info Matt

That power hawg actually makes a good chatter bait trailer- with a few modifications. I just tear everything off the main body accept the two curly tails at the end, sounds crazy I know but try it- I think you'll be surprised how good it looks. Works on spinner baits to- runs sort of like the little split-tail trailers. The Power Hawg and the Man Bear Pig are great brush hog style baits but- Gambler makes one called the Bacon Rind that has little wings on it- gives it a gliding fall, it works really well in the TVA drain.

So many things you can do with a jig, Color change, size, type, skirt material, ........ Then after that Ill go to a creature bait, but IMO its worth the time to get that jig fish because they mostly are better quality fish. Maybe Im wrong? Its just what I like to do.

I like jigs and want to fish them more but I can never find the style I like in a bait shop. So why can’t you flip, pitch, and /or cast a swim jig? I see no reason why you can’t or couldn’t. Pitch or flip in heavy cover and swim it out and 💥 get bites both ways! If one of the other doesn’t produce Lol. Some may disagree but it will cut cost down on tackle and save a lot of time on the water by making one lure have multiple functions. Now I love taxes rig! It’s a bass catching rig hands down. The only way to not catch a bass on a Texas rig is not using it or getting hung in a tree all the time lol God bless brother.

Most swim jigs have a pointed head, while you can use these for lot of things. Skipping boat docks, pitching weeds and so on, they don't come through heavy cover very well. That's why most flipping jigs have a rounder head design.
