Buyer's Guide: Craw and Creature Baits for Year Round Success!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 окт 2024
- Creature baits are not all created equal! In today's buyer's guide we're simplifying creatures and craws by narrowing it down to 8 baits for different situations. Each of these baits will help you catch more fish throughout the year! Whether you're punching mats, flipping, throwing a wobble head, or working a jig, there is a creature here that you can rely on.
These 8 baits all have very unique applications. One is best on wobble head, another is a bait we exclusively punch with, and yet another is the bait we turn to early in the year. There are a lot of great baits on the market but when you discover a key situation for a specific bait, you've got a bait that will put fish in the boat over and over again. If you want to shorten your learning curve, pay close attention to why and when we're throwing each of these baits, then give them a try on your lakes.
We've included links to all 8 of these baits below. We've also included our favorite colors for each, the gear we use to rig them, and a couple great "All-Around" creature bait rods at different price points. All of the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I don’t understand why Matt and Tim don’t have at least 1 Million Subscribers. They are literally the best duo and give the most and best information! Great job guys!
Truth !
Because people are lazy and don’t want to learn they want the instant gratification of those “clickbait youtubers”. Sad
Look at the bright side tho, this lets us catch bigger and more bass!
@@marioortiz7264 that’s facts!!!
I said that 3 years ago. They've doubled Subscribers in that time.
8 days in a row with a video, Yall spoiled me, I missed you guys yesterday.
Heck yeah best 8 days of my life! 😂😂
I wish I still had my Creepy Crawlers oven from when I was a kid 😂
hah-i had one of those- they were great! used to stink up the basement daily
Seriously my guy those would make great baits hahaha
Daaaaamn I might still have lol
Haha I remember that... the boys version of the easy bake oven lol
EBay
Ah 530am ride to work so much better when you hear "whats up guys welcome back to tactical bassin " got spoiled having video every day missed not having one yesterday.
The reason TB is the best: You guys give us not only what to buy, but are always teaching us why. Brand loyalty is shown, but only because you truly believe in the products. Keep up the great videos, and thanks for all the advice!!
No Berkley pit boss?! Literally my favorite bed bait!
Love how Tim strategically placed himself in front of the " Legend" emblem on the boat.🤣
I love the craws/brush hogs/creature baits because they swim right thru weeds too. Still haven’t caught anything but going to keep on chugging along because it’s just so much fun!!!
Just started throwing the man bear pig the last couple years and it always kills it at my local ponds....thanks for the great videos guys!
I deliberately avoided the channel for the past month. I love your end of the year videos, and I wanted to be able to binge watch them all. 😁 I really enjoy the Buyers Guides and year end reviews.
Guys, I have been following you for about 6 years. I have learned so much from you and I always teach fisherman tips and refer them to you. I consider myself an expert now. But I consider you guys the Definitive Guide to Fishing from Nuts to Boltz! Now, I make my own lures, spinners, chatters, plastics rippers and creatures. So Thank You for everything...all of your wisdom and time. I'm shocked you are still so dedicated.
The only caveat that I have regarding your teaching and leadership is this: I live in Omaha NE. Not all those techniques work well in every geography i.e. Large Expensive Japanese SwimBatis...LOL Every angler has to customize his approach for the region, Even with just BASS
Love your channel, Love your expertise, Love your footage, Love your patient and methodical teaching. I needed every bit of it. Now I practice my Wiggle on a Hobie PA14. Lovin skinny water in it.
I love the Pit Boss 😀😀 Great video
Out of thousands of bait in this category have y'all had any luck on a Berkley pit boss. This is my absolute favorite.
You guys need your own prime time TV show!
How you guys don't have more subscribers blows my mind, your content is incredible. Thanks guys, cannot wait to get back out on the water. Your videos gave me the itch to get back out.
Another thing I love about the Archelon- There's actually a hole in the butt section where you can slide worm rattles up into.
Nice to know!
@@youtubzkoz Yeah it's great. The little hole is quite tight, so just insert the rattle and push/work it all the way up near the head, then t-rig it and it'll never fall out. I have great success with this besides punching. It's deadly pitching docks and laydowns as well.
Excellent teaching/buyer guide video!
I love the reaction innovation sweet beaver. I started using early this year and did very well on my home lake here in Michigan. I Texas rigged it with a pegged sinker. That dark blue color was great for me no matter what the water color was. With a slow retrieve it came through the heaviest weeds and came in clean almost always. My local tackle shop just restocked and I loaded up in anticipation for spring ( which is a ways off up here). I’m gonna give it a shot in the cold this weekend. Definitely a conference bait for me. Thanks guys. As always, great stuff
Confidence
Thanks for all the great info guys! Shoutout to all the feeshin friends.
Strike King Magnum rage bug is the juice for me. It likes to float, so I peg my weight four or five inches above, and it'll float and flap around in current, and the smallies love it.
Love the Brush hog tip.. never knew that
No joke blue swirl colors were amazing for me this spring especially moon dust colors like Iridescent blues where amazing, caught a lot of big fish on those colors!
When I use a manbearpig I think the same thing about the South Park episode lol. It’s half man , half bear , and half pig , dude it’s got 3 halves ! I know I’m super cereal you guys. Lol
Tim pulls Matt down from the clouds with " the look".🤣
The reaction innovations spicy beaver is super awesome on a swing head as well!!!!
Manbearpig too!!
Underrated... but my favorite punch bait, z man palmetto bug with just a drop of glue on the keeper... punch about all day on one bug, and she stands up everytime
I’m surprised the Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw is not on there. I love that bait.
Great video as always! You guys have improved my fishing so much since I started watching your channel. Once the buyer’s guides are over, you guys should do a video on how to find out what the bass are eating. I don’t know whether the bass in some of my lakes are eating gills, shad, shiners, sculpin, or crawfish. Your insight would be immensely helpful
Those Hoodies are TOO MUCH FIRE
Great video I use most of these and you guys nailed it with the details. Another great video by two really knowledgeable fisherman. Matt, I like that tactical Bassin shirt you’re wearing.👍
I used to throw these baits growing up in Florida for bass, now I use them for catching big perch over here in Germany
Woher bekommst du die? I need em too for big Perch here in the Netherlands. LG David
What part of Germany? I just moved to Germany and have been itching to go fishing.
Man I feel in love with the Texas rig this summer. Every single slow day was saved by the Texas rigged craw. Thanks guys. Matt...just wait that 11 pounder will bite again
David van Maanen - icperch Ich kaufe aus den USA. I still buy most of my fishing gear from the US, I know the quality brands better than the European stuff.
@@TheFishingExpat ah okay.. bring me some haha. If I order eg at tacklewarehouse, i pay like 50-60 bucks shipping :/
Thanks Matt & Tim, some of the best video’s I have watched over the last 12 months 👍👍👍. Please keep up the great work 🤞.
Nigel ( The Englishman )
Watch the old videos so much good information!
Dang! Another buyers guide! You guys are really crushing it with these buyers guides! Thanks for the content!
I used all the baits that I seen in the spring, I caught my pb on creature innovation bait on a shaky head and on a trd with an offset hook I take friends and my cousins they freak out,I show them how to fish it and they have a ball thanks for the videos, I like in Nashville for a year did a lot of bank fishing in the winter with a spring weighted hook with a strike king paddle bait with a slow row killed it
Back in the spring you guys mentioned the Keitech Crazy Flapper so I bought it as an option. Moved away from Texas rigging for the back of summer early fall so they sat unused. Fall bite picked up and I started throwing it in creek mouths and where creeks entered the lakes and I started killing with it. As you guys mentioned, I left it unpegged since I wasn't around much structure and had an 1/8 oz tungsten weight on it and it was a really good bait. Can't wait for the spring to roll around to get back at it with that bait. Appreciate the videos, especially these ones on gear as I'm shut down for the window and am looking to build up my arsenal.
Awesome video guys. My favorite nighttime bait is a Man bear pig in red/black on a wobble head. God bless!
Thank you for the video. I am just getting into fishing (always be a hunter) so I learn a lot from you.
I wore them out on the man bear pig and the missile baits destroyer, and the strike king rage craw in blue craw colors. I caught fish in Chickamauga on that when nothing else would work for me, and I also caught them in several different Virginia lakes and hammered fish day and night clear water and dirty water on blue craw. The man bear pig really really stood out above the rest though. That is my go to color for last 2 or 3 years.
Thank you so much for the buyers guide series. I’m certain that both of you would have preferred to be out fishing those days.
Tim with the gut punch about the 11 Matt lost 😂😂😂
Only your best bud can just make fun of you like that
Keep it up with these amazing videos. I miss u guys yesterday.
Ps, I have been getting up early every morning just to watch your videos
Loving these Sweet Beaver baits!
They are deadly!
Getting into the fishing industry recently & learned alot from you guys! Appreciate it
That’s so incredible that you said that about the crazy flapper because I have been in the position in super clear water under docks in the spring and I have never been able to catch a single fish in a specific area for the years I’ve fished it. I’ve tried everything and they just won’t eat anything
Great info guys thank you for the insight and guidance, I have literally learned to fish from you guys.
The mystery is killing us...Legend?
Holy cow! That is crazy how the Brush Hog will not open up if it is sitting a certain way! Great pointer, Matt! That is beyond bizzare.
But ! I rig it sometimes BECAUSE of that to slip through junk
I’ve done SO GOOD with the baby destroyer
Love seeing the mid size brush hog. I had no idea about the rigging though. Thanks for the info. They do have a tiny brush hog as well.
I remember watching the 11 pounder getting away , Great video again guys
I love blue in my soft plastics here in north Carolina. Caught both my PBS on them lol
Beaver is all time fav
Tim is gonna be throwing that at you for awhile. Part of being buddies. It was a beast of a fish. Thanks for the entertainment.
There's actually a tiny brush hog 3" haha so there's 4 sizes with the addition of the 5"!
Big Bite Baits is a solid company
Great prices too.
Missle baits D-Bomb is slowly becoming my favorite soft plastic.
Can’t wait for the new winter video....it’s been in the 30s in Nashville!!
One of the main places I fished is an ultra clear river, but keep in mind a small river shallow for the most part but with deep cuts on the bends and sand and wood bottom and the finesse football jig was my number one bait, just absolutely crushed them!
Where was yesterday’s video? I swear I saw it on my feed. But then it disappeared. Was it on lipless crankbaits?! Awesome video today tho! I love the sweet beaver! Been using them for a long time in Hematoma and Dirty Sanchez! The midsized brush hog is a game changer! The manbearpig is awesome as well. Where I fish the original brush hog gets used a lot. So the different profile of the Manbearpig helps a lot!
You guys are awesome, you give so much information on the baits. That has helped me me catch nice size Bass . Thank you for your time, 🙏 have a Merry Christmas 🎄
Missed you guys yesterday
Nice background in this video.
Great video. I feel lost with creature baits. There just so many.
I've always had great success with Texas Rigs and Drop Shots with worms. But I need to expand and try out creature baits and craws next year!
I’ve been throwing the man bear pig on a 1/8 oz wobble head with my spinning gear in about 2-6 ft since October and have had insane success with it
Ok really? I bank fish 5-6 locations in and the Everglades...1 fish, 1, on the ManBPig in 6months. Hating on the MBP right now😁
@@davidgalloway904 hahahahaha. Dang bro I would be hating on it too.
Great stuff guys, I learned a few things, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
my favorite beaver is the Missle baits D bomb in super bug t rigged and i have sweet beavers here in N.C. but i do want to try a creature bait , i haven't tried the shaky head rig yet , thanks for the great videos
I use creature baits here in Australia on spinnerbaits as a trailer equipped with a stinger hook...Never thought of using them for other techniques thankyou for opening my eyes up...I don't know what you mean by Texas rigging but if it's got anything to do with placing a solid leadhead rigged hook into the plastic and slow rolling it then ok I understand that technique mate...
Hey guys: Great video and info as always. Since your talking soft plastics I’d like to ask if so many people love the durability of Zman elaztech soft baits why don’t more angles (if not exclusively)use then to some degree? Thanks
I picked up the crazy flapper this yr i didnt get to throw it much the fish up here in pa this yr just werent having creature baits large worms were the deal for me but in the spring i will be throwing it for sure
One of my favorites, which was unfortunately discontinued, was the Yum "Mighty Bug" in 3.25 inch size. Something about the 6 legs with the little paddles must have created vibrations that got a fishes attention, and I found it would trigger bites when flipped and used as a bottom bait where a lot of other baits did nothing. I still have a small stock of them, and some of the larger sizes as well, but I will be sad when I run out, or will have to make my own molds from my last few and pour my own.
As always great vid!!
Excellent video as always!!
Excited about this video and maybe a Texas rig video....I’m more of a power fisherman so twitching a worm gets old fast but I’m trying to stick with it!!
Texas rig/worm*
I’m a fan of tilapia color, it’s got the brown and blue and purple
What do you guys think about the Tokyo rig versus the drop shot rig and I think your videos are great
Matt or Tim could you do a video on the Tokyo rig versus the drop shot
Before starting the video, there was a 100% chance the Sweet Beaver was in the video. Anyone that watches any TB videos know the Sweet Beaver is a go to.
The Gambler Bacon Rind is an old favorite (sadly discontinued) that in my experience was more consistent than the Brush hog. The appendages were thinner and I think the bigger single swimming tail was better in stained water.
Happened upon this 3 years later and now the Gambler Bacon Rind is now on Tackle Warehouse and there are TW special colors!
Wow that was hard to pick 8 😂 but great job boys, thank you so much 👊
have got to stop these videos I have made 5 tackle warehouse purchases in 5 days none under a $170 jaar killing my bank account with all this great content thanks for all you do have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year
Great videos guys! I love it when you are both on the same video. Could you possibly do a vide on fishing line? I would love to hear feedback on new mono/poly, braid, and fluorocarbon!
Pro CrawZ finally on the shelf.
Keep em coming, guys. Best fishing channel out there. Quick question though. I switched out the hooks and rings on my s waver 168s to the ones recommended in Matt's seminar vid but now they won't sink. Any suggestions?
What’s y’all’s opinion on the havoc pit boss
We cant get a hold on all those fantastic lures here in the Netherlands. Only the flapper and babydestroyer are available from those. That color is my fav too! Also for the culprit incredislim there’s almost the same color(alabama bug) cheers and keep it up!
I’ve never thought of using a shakey head on a brush hog style bait. Should try that out
I never thought of a finesse creature on a dropshot either but its 🔥
I’d like to see how y’all store all your plastics. Mine are just stuffed in any unused pouch on all of my tackle bags and back packs. Handfuls of plastic baits. 😆
Hard to turn down any sweet beaver.. fishy or not!
I miss the Zipper Grub. Great creature bait.
Do recommend keeping the plastics in their original package ?
I love the Zoom magnum 8” lizard. Fish it weightless or with a small split shot. The less natural the color the better. I almost always use black grape.
Great videos guys, I was wondering if you guys had tested out the 7’8” Extra Heavy Intenza as a budget punching rod if so how does it compare or is it worth the money? (paired with an SLX XT or a Curado) Thanks for the feedback!
Found z crawls at Ollie’s. I haven’t caught nothing yet. I am going to give it a try again.
Great video, keep up the great content
Speaking of june bug. Ive never caught so many fish in my life until i started to throw the yamamoto creature bait
Try the Spider Grub and Cowboy from GY....the best action
@@jamespowellii1191 I just got me some of the GM Cowboy baits, going to give them a try. I always start with a Watermelon or Green Pumpkin variety when experimenting with a new bait. Never will you go wrong with those colors at anytime of year, at least in Texas.
Wonderfull vídeo! Congrats.
Try Zee Baits Bamboo Bomber. Caught a lot of bass, pike, and walleye. Same kind of profile. Has sections that you can bite off to make a smaller profile for smallmouth. Smashed em’.
Sweet Beaver absolutely murders our smaller lakes in the late fall
Great vid guys! Any experience with the gamakatsu hybrid worm hook this year? I've been using it for a ton of soft plastics and really like it
Love all these baits, but no mention of any of the Strike King Rage series? Rage Bug? Rage Craw? Rage Menace?
I hope to be as dialed in as these dudes one day
Culprit incredi craw. Crawdaddy color. Try it out!
Yes! Love it!
Hands down the best creature/craw is the Googan Squad - Bandito Bug - Okachobee Craw; other Googan Squad stuff is mehhh, but that flat out catches fish. Designed by Scott Martin is I remember correctly.
Googan baits are straight ripoff of SK Rage baits.
Bandito Bug = Rage Bug with an extra arm.
They even share the same patent number
@@dominiccianciola2115 they ALL have the same patent number. Also, the SK doesn’t have the same movement and/or action so my guess is it has a different salt content or percentage. So, that makes them different baits. I love SK as well but I’m telling you, the GS catches more fish, straight up.
